Riverdance (Chicago)

My husband and I (early 30s) saw Riverdance's 20th anniversary show with my in-laws (in their 60s & 70s), and everyone absolutely loved it! I have seen Riverdance on television a few times, but seeing it in person is a completely different experience. We were all so amazed by the talent on stage! There were more vocal performances than I expected. I'm a big Irish dance fan, so I could have just watched them dance the entire time. We all LOVED the drummer, and the instrumental performances were very entertaining. Our seats were great - view and sound was awesome. My only complaint is that between each act, they would let the latecomers (and there were a TON) scurry to their seats which was very distracting, and blocked our view significantly. My father in law has mobility issues, so these seats were perfect for our group (with the exception of the distracting latecomers).

Talent galore. Indefatigable dancers. Engaging performers. Overall a wonderful experience at a beautiful venue.

We really enjoyed Riverdance in Chicago. The dancing was amazing. Most of the other acts were good ( which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5). The flamenco dancer could have been dropped and one too many solo singers. The audience did not want the night to stop, the Irish high step dancers were outstanding. My husband who did not want to go... LOVED it. We couldn't see the people sitting above us .... but everyone on the main floor and dress circle were on their feet in gratitude for such a wonderful performance.

One of the best live shows on Earth!!! I would recommend it to all my family and friends. It's a beautiful story that should be told over and over again.

Had seats in the balcony, yet could see all the action. The theater was beautiful, and the performance was great! Would recommend to anyone, even kids that are into dancing.

Irish dancing is so engaging!! The instrument solis were fantastic! Tip: first row in Lodge best seats in the house to see everything! My daughter is in Irish dance & she brought a friend who had never seen it - she couldn't take her eyes off the performance! Would go again if it was still in town!

I've seen Riverdance numerous times; once with Michael Flatley dancing the lead. Last Saturday's production, bore no resemblance at all to the original. There was too much singing, too much sitting, two segments featuring a female flamenco dancer, two segments featuring two black tap dancers, no story line and not enough Irish dancing. The crew when actually dancing, were excellent. The deviation from Michael's vision was abysmal. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

Dancing is great, hypnotic, unforgettable. The wind instrument playing put me to sleep. The tap dance routine is fascinating.

I hadn't seen it in 10-15 years so it was fresh to me. Amazing energy and precision. They mixed up the acts very well to keep it from getting monotonous. It goes by very quickly and is recommended for all ages.

The cast was absolutely amazing. Dancing was incredible and enjoyed every moment of it.

The performance was fantastic! It was even better than the first time I saw it many years ago.

This was my third "Riverdance": first was 20 years ago, and there was one about halfway between then and now. The staging and casts continue to change, of course, with no damage and, indeed, some enhancement. The vocal numbers, though, seem to bring the show to an awkward slowdown, unlike the instrumental solos, which keep the feel of the production. Nevertheless, the best of the dancing can make me grin and clap along, and the beginning and ending group numbers always surprise me by driving everything else from my mind, giving me goosebumps and a rush of adrenaline, and nearly bringing me to tears from the power.

Once again sat back for a very enjoyable night of music, dance, and even humor. The soloist was amazing. The instrumentalists were so good. And, the dancing was a thrill to watch.

This anniversary revival was every bit as good as the original. My kids were too little to see it when it first came out and I've always wished that they could have. I was so happy they joined me, and they enjoyed it just as much. The dancers were awesome, the singers sounded beautiful and the musicians were superb. It was well worth it.

Great night out with the family. Would recommend it to everyone.

Riverdance was amazing! My family was mesmerized by the dancing. It was very much as I remembered it - only the dancing was better than I remember!!

Every person should see Riverdance just once in their lifetime. They will never forget it. Very talented dancers, singers and musicians. Well worth the price of the ticket.

The show was extremely enjoyable. Great energy! The dancing and vocal performances left me blown away. Made for a wonderful evening.

I was expecting a cheesy dance show and was surprised how good this was. The talent of the dancers is unquestionable and the variety of dances performed were amazing! My wife and I were very entertained!

I really enjoyed the performance. The only reason I gave it four rather than five stars is I felt there was a bit too much musical interlude for my taste. I loved the dancing. There was just too much extra music improvisation for me. As talented as they are, i did not really want to see a 10 minute saxaphone, violin, flute combo.

Riverdance was amazing! Everyone in the performance was top notch, and I was astounded by the precision and coordination of the troupe. I didn't want it to end!

We really enjoyed seeing Riverdance! If you like folk music, dancing, and singing, you will love seeing it! Plus, the Cadillac Theater is a wonderful place to see any type of entertainment.

Absolutely amazing. As the performance ended and the lights came up you could see everyone behind me remarking in awe of this performance. These talented young professionals are top notch. The dancing and music of course, but the narrative, the set photographs and the lighting draw you into the story. I enjoyed this performance so much. Hats off to the dancers, especially Brennan, whose many many hours of training and practice made Riverdance fantastic!

This performance was just amazing! I loved every moment and wish it was here long enough to see it again. This was the best musical and dance performance I have seen in years!

A very awesome show. It is incredible talent, it keeps your attention. Would go again in a heartbeat. A must see. And to our surprise when we arrived we were upgraded on our seats. That was very cool.

Not as good as years past. Was not "wowed" as I usually am. Costumes not as good. Female dancers seemed weak. Didn't like the singer- boring. But overall it is still a great show and fun to go. Would actually give it 3 1/2 stars if that were an option.

High energy. There was more dance variety than I expected, Irish, Russian, Spanish, Tap, "Street", etc. The musician solos were a delight, particularly the violinist and drummer. The cast seemed to really enjoy themselves as they performed. The audience seemed to really enjoy the "dueling tap dancing" that really showed off the talents of the cast members.

The shoe was great. Too bad it is one of the last. We with frienf enjoyed it very much and would like to see it again!

This "play" was very short and definitely NOT worth the money I spent on the tix!!! I would not go again nor recommend it to anyone!!! It did not live up to my expectations at all.

I am so glad that I saw this production at last, having heard about it for so many years. I really enjoyed the dynamics of all the step dance numbers, admiring the precision and the glorious sound of all those feet pounding in a musical beat of their own. However, there was really not much plot, even to hold the numbers together, and the concept of Ireland in the old country and the transition to the new country was weak. I also didn't care much for the extremely high pitched soprano singing - very difficult to follow the words (and I heard others nearby making the same comments). The Spanish flamenco numbers didn't fit with the Irish theme, even though the flamenco dances include similar heavy stomping steps. I'm glad I've seen Riverdance, but I would see a different show rather than see this one again.

Understood it was an Irish performance. Did not realize there would be latin spiritual and/or soul tap. We thought we paid for and looked very forward to seeing Irish dancing. While we appreciate other types of music/dance we specifically bought tickets for Riverdance understanding it was an Irish performance, only. Yes, we wanted every minute to Irish!

We were disappointed that many of the number has prerecorded music that included tapping sound effects. I don't know why a "flamenco" dancer was part of Riverdance. Could have used more of the Celtic songs. The numbers were just ok.

it was amazing I have waited for years to see this show, Im so glad I had the opportunity to go while it was here.

This is the third time I'd seen "Riverdance" over the years and it's still a thrilling show. The dancers have changed over the years, of course, but today's crop is just as talented and exciting as those who came before. I've never been one for the singing; some is all right and the rest is somewhat of a bore. This is especially true of "Freedom" - I just can't stand it! It bores me and I don't find it musically satisfying. It's the dancing that grabs me, especially the hard-shoe numbers. I do miss the Russian dancing that was a part of earlier productions, but this is still a fantastic, highly entertaining show.

This talented troupe exceeded my expectations. I loved every segment of the performance, including the tappers solo and the "dance-off" between dancing styles. I have the highest respect for those who do this! It's incredible. My only wish would be for the lead women dancers to have an equally prominent role that showcases their skills like the show does for the lead male dancers -- who are great.

This was my 2nd time seeing the show.. The first was about 15 years ago. The show is still excellent. I still wanted to get up and dance when it was over. I hope the show will in the future come back to Chicago.

I am so ad I was able to see Riverdance for one last time. I can remember when I saw it for my first time Chicago with my mother. Had great seats and enjoyed every bit of it. Wish that it wasn't going away for good-but I have the music and dvd to remember! Thank you Riverdance and thank you Chicago!

I would recommend this show to everyone. It was our second time to see it The dancing was fantastic. Parking for the show was rediculas. $33 for two hours ? Next time have the show in the western suburbs. Parking free !!!! Downtown Chicago - I will skip the show. We all would really like to see it again.

This is always an unbelievable play...the dancing is mesmerizing. This show was scaled down alittle in size to the previous shows that i have seen but still it was performed masterfully. Will alway try to see again.

Loved this product, saw it first 15 years ago at the ROSEMONT. This was a smaller products with two fewer acts, but nevertheless awesome with the TAP DANCE sequence being the highlight.

I bought these tickets expecting more irish dancing. I fell asleep during the instrumentals and cheesey singing portions whIch I was wishing would have been more dancing. I also was confused why a show called Riverdance which is all about Irish dance was integrating African American and Latin dance culture. Don't get me wrong, they did a wonderful job but it seemed out of place. Overall it was a good show but I would not return to see it again. I would rather spend my money on Lord of the Dance.

I saw the original many years ago with Michael Flatley and of course we all know he started the whole modern Irish Dance. This performance was just as brilliant and entertaining as the first. It is so refreshing to see the youth with all their boundless energy and talent. My hats off to the entire ensemble , from the stage hands, musicians, singers and of course the dancers. The entire evening was one I will remember for a lifetime. Thanks to all that made it happen..

From the great music to the spectacular dancing I enjoyed the whole event. EXCELLENT !!

The program was so powerful that it brought me along the same journey that my father took when he came by ship to Ellis Island. It gave me a sense of how life in Ireland was for my forefathers. The connection with the journey of the slaves brought to America showed the strength of a people who "lost" their freedom but never their spirit! It was a message for all people of our world. There was joy, laughter, sparing, unity and sharing. It was simply beautiful in all of its elements.

The principal male dancer, James Greenan, in Riverdance was AMAZING!! His energy, talent, and charisma were completely engaging and superior on every level. Unfortunately, though the principal female dancer, Caterina Coyne, was lovely and skilled, she was dreadfully boring. She went through the motions, but it was obvious her spirit and heart were not into it. The Trading Taps number was also extraordinary and fun, and all of the musicians were quite fabulous. All in all, it was a very enjoyable way in which to spend our Sunday afternoon.

I watched Riverdance on DVD long time ago and fell in love with this show. However, this show in Chicago has much smaller amount of performer then i expected. There were only two to three singers, and the some singing performances had to be replenished by dancers. Also, one of my favorite song from Riverdance was not in the show, which is quite disappointing :(. I still love the show though. The principle dancers are great.

This was a must see. Truly what I expected and our seats were great. we sat on the left side in the 22 row 4 seats from the isle. The stage is prety close so the seats were good. If your not on the main floor than your wasting your money and the circle are the worse seats.
