Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top

Both of these bands have always been two of my favorites! I have seen them both several times over the past 40 years and they sounded as good last Saturday night as ever! Keep on rockin' fellas!

Good show; Lynyrd Skynyrd was amazing! ZZ Top was average.

Drove 360 miles to see Skynyrd and I am ready to go see them again!!!! FLY FREEBIRD FLY FOREVER!!!!!

The warm up band, Cadillac Black, was every bit as good as the headliners. Skynyrd was the best of the three but ZZ put on a grand show as well. Could have done without so much smoke during ZZ Top performance. It started to become a breathing and eye stinging issue before it was over.

ZZ Top was AMAZING & so was Tom Hambridge who opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd. I wasn't very impressed with Lynyrd Skynyrd though, which was unfortunate. They didn't even perform one of their best songs, The Ballard of Curtis Lowe. :(

This was my first time at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheatre. It is a great place to go to a concert. Put that together with the fact you have two bands who are legendary performers of the Blues and Southern Rock, "Totally Awesome Show". I've seen both of these legendary bands in the past and I was not disappointed by their performances. They both were absolutely entertaining and kept the crowds on their feet throughout the entire show.

Just had a great time. Loved Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top. The amphitheater is great. Tuscaloosa is so lucky to have it.

This was a great show... Both bands rocked.. This is also a great place to see a concert. Tuscaloosa Ampitheater really does a great job...

The Lynyrd Skynyrd/ZZ Top concert is well worth the money to watch. They did not disappoint at all. During ZZ Top's set they had two boys to come up and autographed their record they brought. They all put on a wonderful show even the opening act.

The concert was great!!!!! The two groups were great back to back. You had every age group at this concert. I saw kids probably 8 and up to adults probably late 60's. It was amazing and they put on a good show. I would definetly go see them again even if they were in concert seperatly but together you just couldn't beat it.

Great venue, good control of the crowd, the band and sound system were GREAT!

The whole concert from the opeing act to the very end was outstanding! We enjoyed every minute.

The warm up performer was not my favorite. He was ok. ZZ Top was fabulous!!

This was a great pairing!!! The acoustics for Skynrd were not great but ZZ Top was awesome!!! Crowd was really into the music. Opening act was great! Overall a great experience.

If you love good old time Southern Rock n Roll then these two groups are FOR YOU ! They know how to put on a show !!

Both groups still know how to rock the house. Opening act Cadillac Black was also a rockin good time

This was THE BEST concert we have ever attended. It was high energy- both groups engaged the audience. We spent most of the night standing up cheering.

Cadaliac Black is a very good & up coming group and I was impressed & so were the othes in my group!!! Lynyrd Skynrd was very enteraining, they put on a great concert ZZ Top was also very good, but as far as the best of the three I would have to say Lynyrd Skynrd was my favorite. I want to be enterained and that exactly what they did.

Lynyrd Skynyrd was great as usual, and what can you say about ZZ Top!!! They haven,t changed much since I saw them 35 years ago!!! They still know how to rock n roll!!

The opening band was good. Lynard Skynard was great! ZZ Top was truely excellent and an absolute must see!

Both these guys put on a great show and entertained the crowd with great classics. You will not be disappointed if you attend this show....

How could you ask for more? Two of the greatest bands of the rock era together. Both put on great shows and kept the crowd alive! Great show for young and old alike!

both LS and ZZ were great........but enjoyed LS the most! we had awesome seats, and really enjoyed the entire concert!

Skynyrd was great and ZZ Top was much better than when we had seen them before. Cadilac Black was enjoyable as well. This was a great Concert.

The concert was awesome. Skynyrd and ZZ Top can really still kick it. I would see them again.

My husband & I attended this concert as an anniversay present to ourselves. However, we must admit ourselves disappointed with the sound level that both acts used. In our opinions, the level was so loud that we heard noise, not music. At one point, my husband pointed out that the fabric of his jeans was vibrated in time with the bass - the fabric and not his legs. Because of this, we often didn't recognize familiar songs. We were not sitting in front of the speakers, either.

Great show! Skynyrd drained the crowd, and then ZZ Top brought 'em right back!

Lynyrd Skynyrd was a better show than i expected and i thought their overall sound was a lot better than the last time i saw them. ZZ TOP was one of the best shows i have ever seen. When three 62 year old men can produce that kind of music and litterally ROCK THE HALL it is simply amazing. Two sets with a short break would be nice. Both groups have a lot of songs people want to hear.

Free Bird in person..what else can I say?? Skynard and ZZ Top still bring a lot of emotion to their shows.

I lit up like a Christmas tree. Made me want to slap my mama. Devilish.

WAY too loud. so loud everything was distorted and you couldn't enjoy the music at all. accoustics are terrible. so loud most of the time you didn't know if they were all playing the same song or not. couldn't understand the singer most of the time. thought lynyrd Skynyrd was loud! ZZ Top was even louder!! so disappointed in the whole evening. love these 2 bands and was so looking forward to seeing them in person for the first time. never at the assembly hall again! WAY too expensive. parking too expensive. seating chart online is misleading. showed FL1 - 6 around the stage. thought we were in the front row. FL 1 + 2 are in front of the stage and FL 3 - 6 are arched around the back of FL 1 + 2. we were in the front row of FL 4, not right in front of the stage.

Skynyrd was by far had the best performance of the night.

I saw ZZ Top 4 times during the 80's and they are still great so many years later!! Really enjoyed the show. Skynyrd was only OK though.

The very best this the way a show should go a little dissappointed in the assembly hall they made us wait outside a little to long but the bands were the best as always

We took a limo to the concert to prevent drinking and driving. We figured that 4hrs would be good for the concert. 7-11pm. the opening act took way too long. Lynyrd Skynyrd came out at like 8:30 or 9pm. this lasted until 10pm. there was a huge intermission and ZZ top did not come out until 10:15. We had to leave at 10:30 so we did not get to watch more than 15min of zz top. I think the opening act was not that great, not wanted and much too long. Lynyrd was great, zz top was awesome what we saw but we did not pay for that opening act.

One of the best concerts I've seen in a long, long time! All of the greatest hits from two of musics most iconic bands of all time!!!

Excellent show...both Skynyrd and ZZ Top played a lot of their older material (nothing after Eliminator for ZZ Top). Sound was excellent, and even the opening act was entertaining. Had a great time. Only complaint was length of the show. Each of the main acts played for about 1 hour 15 minutes. Could have listened to them twice that time and would have appreciated some of their less popular material (although I was very pleased that ZZ top stuck with the classics, love the old bluesy stuff).

It was amazing! A very good show! We all enjoyed it! They all sounded awesome. Light show was awesome! ZZ Top's picture show took me back to my childhood. They all payed special tribute to our soldiers. God bless America!

The show was really good, both bands played their most famous songs. The crowd was really pumped for people that age :) My parents had a great time.

Pros: ZZ Top was over the top fabulous! Cons: The volume level was unnecessarily and unequivocally TOOOOO loud for the venue and caused us to wait in the lobby until Lynrd Skynrd was finished. Lynrd Skynrd was not even state fair worty...their lead vocalist really needs to be axed-his tonality and style were no match for the original. At best, they are a 3rd rate LS tribute band.

I am old enough to have seen ALL the great bands live - including Jimmy Hendricks in 1970 - so trust me when I tell you this concert was worth every penny! At least 3 generations of fans salted the theater with a dynamic sound and visual show that keeps you riveted. The music masters of old are front and center as you can clearly see - age does not effect he talent they all possess. If this show comes close enough to you for a visit - get THE BEST UP FRONT SEATS you can buy....... so very worth it!

Not much to say both these bands are ledgendary, simply amazing to see. the venue was great and so was the music!

It was one of the best shows I have seen in a long time......... I hope they come back again.. They rocked the house....... The sound was AMAZING just like the old days... LOL

Not that much of a Skynyrd fan but they did put on a great show. ZZ Top was awesome! They were on my "bucket list". Sunday nite concerts are rough when you have to get up Monday to go to work, but it was worth the sleep deprivation.

First Visit to the Amphitheater in Tuscaloosa! My reason for not giving a 5 star is because they chose a Sunday Night to showcase these ROCKERS and forced everyone to empty their alcoholic beverages @ 9:30, that was just wrong!!!! The audience age group for this type band was certainly people old enough to drink and be responsible, we weren't watching pop stars!

It was a great concert, the atmosphere is was great. A very good concert.

Pretty much what you'd expect from two classic rock bands, but Z Z TOP did a few numbers that I'd never heard them do before. For one,they did a Hendrix cover, and the "Reverend Billy G" completely NAILED the solo. I yelled my guts out, actually got a little misty eyed. A nice surprise. This was in recently tornado ravaged Tuscaloosa Alabama, and a great shot in the arm for the town. I suppose I should mention, the old standby Sweet Home Alabama is played at the ballgames here. So the crowd went nuts. I think Skynrd was a little surprised at the level of audience participation. All in all, as I said WooHoo ! Thanks guys for coming here.

The setting was great!...One of those awesome (not-yet-too-cold) 56degrees...Temp was great, location was great, bands were magnificent 201 A1-A2 Great seats at this venue.

It was a great concert and a great way to celebrate my birthday!!

Skynyrd was good, but ZZ Top was off the chart good! I guess it's easy when you've been doing it for over 40 years. Skynyrd's Simple Men, Gimme Three Steps, Sweet Home Alabama, I know a Little, and Free Bird (encore) were all good. The only thing that wasn't great were the gal vocalists. They could have been a bit better. Every song by ZZ Top was over the top. Wish they would have played Pearl Necklace, Heard it on the X and Rough Boy. But then again, I would like to have heard every song they've done. Seen them several times and am always suprised that they never seem to get old. I'd go back and see them again and again!

This was a GREAT event! I had 17 year olds to 55 year olds with us and ALL enjoyed the concert! Lynard Skynard was awesome and ZZ Top truly amazed!! : ) From the moment I purchased the tickets from TicketMaster to the end of the concert this was a GREAT experience for all of us! TicketMaster made the purchase of the tickets soooo easy and convenient to print your own ticket!! The Tuscaloosa Amphitheater is a wonderful venue! It was very very clean with assistance for anything at the end and beginning of every section. Easy access to and from the local hotels thru several services and really just an easy time for families and old rockers like me! : ) Can not say enough good about the entire experience...I will certainly do this again!!! : )

zz top had some sound problems for a few songs we could hear the singing

I thought TBC and ZZTOP were stellar. Skynard fell short. Their lead repeatedly asked for applause and they seemed to be playing without showing signs of enjoying themselves. I was very disappointed with them. My rating is average because of Skynard. Had they measured up I would have rated it 4 stars.

show was fun. black cadillac was very good. lynyrd skynyrd kept us all rocking. zz top was great but very hard to hear the vocals over the music. seemed to just be palying the vocal from smaller amps on stage and it did not projuect out to the lawn well

it was good. I thought ZZ should have played longer. The curfew at verizon needs to be removed.

Lynard Skynard was great and ZZ Top was even better! The only thing I would have to complain about it that you could barely hear ZZ Top when they spoke to the crowd.

It was an excellent show. Only dissappointment was radio stations advertised that ZZ Top would open and Lynyrd Skynyrd would close. The show should have ended with Skynyrd playingFreebird it would have been the perfect ending to a great show.

Good show, having seen Lynyrd twice before. New songs are ok. Crowd seemed slightly bored. Van Zant tried to get the crowwd into the show all night but not very sucessful. At this point I think that they are like a really good cover band. Playing the same songs everynight and really no one left but one guitarist. ZZ Top was better. People were more into them and i thought that the use of the videos was great. Voice is a little shot but I thought the palying was excellent. I came for Skynyrd but enjoyed ZZ better. Not bad show just seemed like they were tired.

The show ROCKED! The concert was unbelievable. ZZ Top is still rockin and hard to believe it's just the same three guys. Mega music from three outstanding musicians. There is no band better than Lynyrd Skynyrd! With all the band has gone through they have not skipped a beat. They are the best of rock and roll bands, hands down! The venue however needs a lot of improvements. Lack of adequate seat and row markings, no stadium or even bench seating, and untreated (paved or concrete) footing. Had it been raining or wet the whole seating area and pathways would have been a disaster. It was dry the days before the event and the footing around the center stage and vendor booth areas were a quagmire by the end of the night.

It has to be difficult to be a legendary rock and roll band and the introduction of new songs is has to be a priority but we went to see Skynrd and ZZ Top as we remember their legendary music to be. Whenever they tried to play something new it kind of took the momentum out of the concert. You could see countless fans simply sit back down until the new song ended and was on thier feet once an older song startred back up again.

Skynyrd started off. They were energetic, a lot of fun and great as usual. This was my fourth time seeing them, and I'd like to see them another four times! ZZ Top - awesome! They are just so cool with their 'cheap sunglasses', beards and hats. They sound wonderful. Billy interacted with the audience quite a bit which is always fun. Hope to see them again next summer!

The Cadillac Black isa great upcoming band. Skynyrd always puts on a great show. Vocals for ZZ Top were too low. Still great show. Third time seeing Skynyrd and will go a fourth.

The concert was well organized and well displayed. The bands did a fantastic job in their performances....

The way zztop interacts with the audience makes you feel the rush and enjoy the Music being played definitely. Awesome

Lynard Skynard put on a great show, and sounded great, almost like a studio album. But when ZZ Top came out to perform, it was like someone had turned the mics way down. We could hear the music nice and loud, but we could not hear the lyrics. The only time you could hear Billy or Dusty, was when they were speaking to the crowd, but barel when they were singing. ZZ Top did ave a nice stage show, with the video screens showing old videos and the live camera work as well, but the vocals just sucked!

What a great show. Skynrd was the opening act and played for approx. 1 hour doing all of the big songs. The band was tight and never missed a beat. Johnny Van Zandt played to the crowd and seems to be a great, down to earth guy who is proud to be an American (a refreshing change from some of the pompous blow hards these days). ZZ Top rocked it and performed their new single from their new album. Having never seen ZZ Top in concert, I was blown away by their genuine appreciation of what they still are doing after 30+ years!

Skynyrd was fantastic, great sound and moves!!! ZZ Top was a big disappointment. You couldn't understand what they were singing. They were better last year at Meadowbrook, maybe an off nite. Too Bad for the money we paid.

saw skynard in the late eighties when they assembled again. this recent show blew that one away by far. had never seen zz before and was blown away awsome act for three old geezers.

Lynyrd Skynyrd was lively and entertaining. However, the band members often seemed more concerned with encouraging a crowd response than with concentrating on their performance. ZZ was far more hardworking. Sadly, the vocals were somewhat muddy and often overpowered by their playing. Regardless, we saw two iconic Southern rock bands. But we have no need or desire to ever see them again.

This was one of those perfect events. Seeing ZZ Top and Lynrd Skynrd together in a great venue was absolutely fantastic. After all these years ZZ Top is even better than when they first started touring, the music was magic. Nobody can top Freebird at the end of a Lynrd Skynrd performance. Come back soon we can't wait.

LS was awesome. Very entertaining and length of concert was excellant. I was a little disappointed with ZZ Top. They had a nice camera show so we could see everything they where doing. I liked that. The videos wereOLD and I didn't like the trashiness of them.

great night - good show - i have never seen ZZ Top before.

Saw both bands in Wichita KS in May 2011and then in Dodge City KS in October 2011, because once is never enough. Both times I was absolutely blown away!!!! These guys will always be amazing. Both put on one hell of a show and are worth the $ spent on tickets...even if you are a fan of only one (don't know why you don't like them both) you will be a fan of the other by the time you leave!!!!

This show was amazing! Even the intro-guy was great. Lynyrd Skynyrd was wonderful and the show was just so much fun. ZZ Top was great too of course. I definitely recommend this show and I plan on seeing Lynyrd Skynyrd again as soon as they come back around to Alabama!
