I've seen one other show in Tampa years ago and would have loved to have seen more acrobatics and not so much an orated storyline. My husband is a big Avatar movie fan and enjoyed it but he had not seen any performance prior to compare it with.

The costumes and set were awesome, but definitely missing the acrobatics that you come to expect from Cirque du Soleil. It was more of a broadway play. If you feel that type of a show is worth the Cirque du Soleil price of admission, then go for it. For me, I would have to say I was terribly disappointed with the outcome.

This was my 9th Cirque show, It was different from the others I've seen, but it was still great, They didn't have many of the usual acts (contortionists, aerialists, etc). This was more of a theatrical thing to me. It had a more developed story. The set, special effects and projections were AMAZING!!! I definitely recommend this show. Just don't expect the usual Cirque show. You won't be sorry

I wish I would've waited to buy tix through Living Social, paid nearly $300 for my two daughters and myself, expecting to see way more acrobatics. It was a great show overall, amazing effects, costumes, etc. My daughters (especially my 7yr old) really enjoyed it, but I just felt the tix could have been cheaper.

Toruk is the third Cirque Du Soleil show that I've attended, and I'm sorry to say it was my least favorite. Having attended two other shows in the past, I was expecting to be wowed with amazing feats of acrobatics, and that just wasn't the case here. As a matter of fact, there really wasn't much acrobatics in the show at all, and what it did have was subpar at best.

We have been to a dozen Cirque shows. This one was horrible. There were very little acrobatics, the master of ceremonies kept flubbing his lines, and the story was weak and boring. The venue workers didn't help with seating so people that showed late were wandering in front of the seated audience. The makeup and costumes were beautiful but not worth a fraction of the $500+ we spent. We saw every move to change the scenery. Seemed like a first run through instead of the final show.

This is an arena show, not in a tent. It is in the vein of the Michael Jackson tour before it camped in Vegas. It is ALL PLOT, no acrobatics and other circus acts. Go see this show to see a story told with stunning special effects, especially visual, but not to see a typical or standard Cirque tent affair. I am hearing more Cirque aficionados making the distinction between the tent and arena shows, with most devoted Cirque fans favoring the tent shows.

This was unlike every cirque I have ever attended. The other six were full of fun and excitement and laughter. This was nothing more than a play that is trying hard to make money off a great movie. It was extremely over priced and a huge let down. I would not recommend this for a cirque

Perhaps the most beautiful staging of any of the several Cirque shows that I've attended. Unlike most of the others I've seen, where often the theme is merely a vehicle to showcase the skill set of the performers, in this one the performers' skills are fully integrated into the plot line. Stunning costumes, sound and lighting. The show's one flaw was the narration, which at times had writing that seemed like it was from a fourth grade adventure series. An easy fix.

The event is worth seeing as it tells a story of working together....even strangers among strangers....for the common good. The acrobatics were well done. I will start by seeing I've seen about 5 Cirque du Soleil shows in Vegas over the last few years. So I was really excited to have one coming to town. The ticket price was pretty high and I was disappointed that it seemed to not have quite as much acrobatics as the other shows I've been to. The story was good, the costumes were great. If you've never been to a show like this, then it's probably pretty great. When you have other ones to compare it to, it doesn't match up to the others especially at $120/ticket.

Need not watch the movie to understand this show. The visual effects were amazing!!! The production creatively uses technology to display motion of its characters. Also amazing was the use of large, dynamic props. I would see this show again! Just be aware, there is a "technology platform" that obstructed view of some seats. All of the visuals were mesmerizing. This was my first Cirque show, third for my friend, and we both had a fantastic time. If you enjoyed the Avatar films, you'll love this show. The performances are in their native language, so the story was portrayed through emotion, which I think is why this show has bad reviews. If you're one for the arts, you'll definitely have a great time.

I miss the days when Cirque shows were all about the acrobatics and when the clown-like characters interacted with the audience. Toruk is really more like a dance revue with brilliant lighting, effects, set and costumes. It was nice, not thrilling, but nice. If you are looking for edge of your seat acrobatic thrills, Toruk will be disappointing. If you are looking for beautiful scenery and costumes, you will be satisfied. The app that they want you to use during the show is a complete waste- don't bother. It does not in any way enhance the show.

If you like Cirque shows for the acrobatics, then this is NOT the show to attend. The acrobatics were less than impressive - lots of rope climbing, silk climbing, a barely daring balancing act (think large see-saw), and a guy flinging Nerf boomerangs to himself... really?! However, if you are an Avatar fan & want to be impressed with the costumes & scenery, then this will be up your alley. Very dark lighting, very bright costumes enhanced with black light, almost like a hallucination trip. The story was... meh... I am a big Cirque fan & have seen so many touring tent shows & a few shows in Vegas. Loved them all. This was not a true "Cirque show". I'm so bummed I spent so much money on our tickets. I was very excited. Toruk would be my first Cirque de Soleil experience. I looked forward to the amazing acrobatics and feats of athleticism. Thus, I braved the rain. I braved the terrible traffic conditions of Los Angeles. Unfortunately, it seemed as though the entire cast were amateurs. Were they all stand-ins? Was I the only person who braved the rain? You know that thing they do with the poles-where they seem to defy gravity by lifting their bodies perpindicular to the pole, creating damn-near a 90 degree angle? Well, in this performance, gravity won: an inverted V was created. I thought I was being given an acrobatic appetizer- a 45 degree tease. Nope. There was not more to come. Of course, I can't do some of the things they did: somersaults, aerials, amazing longstanding handstands, extreme flexibility feats by men, not only women; still, I was disappointed. It seemed a college gymnastics team took over Toruk. If so, great job, kids. But, it looked like practice. Good luck in the future and all that.

If you have ever seen James Cameron's "Avatar", you know what a magical and imaginative world he created in Pandora. Enter Cirque du Soleil to take it to another level with an entire language and musical score adding to the mystique. Every Navi'i tribe had their own culture, costuming, dance, and athleticism. We were enthralled from the very beginning. As I said to my husband after it was over, "If this is what people can imagine...we have no idea what is in store in heaven!" And a grateful thank-you to Tickemaster. When we couldn't make the show for which we had tickets due to a frozen freeway and multiple accidents along the way, they graciously let us have seats the next night.

I know some of these themed shows are not always what I want to see. Michael Jackson, which I have not seen, and Beatles, which I have seen. Beatles was good, and I remain with an open mind regarding Michael Jackson, although it is not high on my list. I attended this one, because, without going to Vegas, we had no choice if we want to support Cirque coming to our town. Too short on the things we go to a Cirque show to see. No high flying acts, acrobatics, amazing athletics.

The show was beautifully done. The showstopper was definitely the visual effects- It's amazing how much can be done with lights, sound, and texture. I love how flawlessly they go from scene to scene. The show doesn't follow the usual format I'm accustomed to seeing with Cirque du Soleil. In past shows that I have seen, a story/theme was told through a series of circus acts like juggling, contortion, or some sort of aerial act. This show was narrated all the way through and was told through a series of scenes, much like a play. Nothing wrong with it, just different that what I had expected. Gorgeous show defiantly worth the time!

Cirque du Soleil TORUK Avatar: Live at the new Golden 1 Center on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING! What I like about Toruk is that they concentrated on just Avatar, the civilization, and leave out the barracks with all its melodrama. Not only did Cirque du Soleil utilized the original language of John Cameron's Avatar, but they went beyond to write original script and lyrics. And what an exciting & extravagant show it was! I have been to three Cirque du Soleil performances, and Toruk by far is the most extravagant! They divided the Golden 1 Center arena in half and made full use of the court with acrobats dangling from the ceiling, flying in midair, with giant dragon puppet control by 7-8 handlers. They must have had at least 50 acrobatic performers. The neuron flowers seen in the video are each suspended by individual cable wire and moved up & down independently. The only drawback is the overall low lid arena - to illuminate the special effects - which can lead you feeling tiresome, possibly drowsiness, if you sit far back. It's a long show with 20 minutes intermission. However, they serve great $4 coffee and there are vendors up & down the aisles selling popcorn, toasty churros, hot dogs, etc. to keep you well motivated! (I myself went through 2 bags of popcorn, 1/2 churros, and 2 x 16oz coffee :- )

This was my sixth different Cirque Du Soliel show, so I'm pretty familiar with what to expect. I love the mingling of acrobatics and performers, which Toruk lacked, and a storyline. Toruk was just a story. It was more of a play than a standard Cirque presentation. I took my son (41) and two grandchildren (10 and 12). It was their first time seeing a Cirque Du Soliel performance. They loved it. If I hadn't been expecting a typical show from them I could have loved it, too. I tried to be open-minded during the show, but I struggled with that. All of the previous shows that I've seen (most of the Vegas shows), plus one traveling show, were all fast passed with oohs and ahs. They were fun, exciting and very entertaining. Toruk was a pretty play with a nice storyline. Virtually none of the rest of the 'come-to-be-expected' aspects were in this show.

Spectacular! Stimulating! Music was Excellent! Highly recommend seeing the great Avatar movie prior to the Cirque show. The mountain, water & lava effects were high tech and outstanding. Do not miss this show! Highly recommend!

Every moment was a treat to the senses. The stage visual and sound effects made it a one of a kind experience. It looks very well planned and executed. The story line also is simple enough for the younger audience to follow and appreciate. There were a few moments with the bird "kites" where the Nav'i performers had some tangling issues. Going through those kites seemed very tricky since the lines are not very visible and are moving fast. But the performers were able to go on regardless. I'm surprised that a few of the aerial/off the ground stunts were done without safety cables. It made these acts much more nerve-racking.

The sound, setting, lighting.........everything was excellent. I've already recommended this show to others. Had seating straight out from the stage. Had an excellent view of everything. The stage and props and visual effects were the best i've seen so far of any Cirque du Soleil show.

Toruk had very cool digital, visual effects and they had a phone app that allowed the audience to participate in some of the visual effects of the show. However, I found the app to be distracting as everytime it buzzed, I was supposed to unlock my phone, open the app and turn it towards the stage. I would rather watch the show. The show itself was not a typical Cirque de Soleil as it had very few acrobatics and even what it did have was not impressive. I would not recommend this show to anyone. It was something to do on a weekend night, but not really worth the expense. Go to Vegas and see one of their shows there. I have seen at least 5 or 6 over the years and all except for Zumanity, far exceed this show.

The scenery, costumes, acting and singing was absolutely amazing. The interactive app was fun. The acrobatic levels were exactly what we've come to expect from Cirque: flawless! Great story line and unbelievable lighting made this show seem like it was over way too soon. Absolutely beautiful!

I took my grand children and my daughter to see Toruk. We all loved it . The performers were just amazing. The lighting and puppeteers were so life like, it did take you to another world. My grandchildren enjoyed the app to interact with the show. Would highly recommend seeing.

The show was out of this world in terms of performers, costumes, make up, choreography and 3D laser light effects and acoustics. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because of the application . It took time for me to learn how to use during the show where I missed so much , it worked at the very last act and I was so excited to interact and be part of the show. My advice is to download the app an hour before the show and familiarize yourself with the app. I apologize I had to take some photos to tease my friends who thought this show was for kids only. Other than that, maybe $$$$ for some, but I highly recommend it to all. For my grandsons, it was magical. Will see again.

We went to see this with our young boys (10 and 7). They definitely enjoyed the first half, however the second half they struggled a bit (until the dragon creature came out, of course) My husband and I had seen Varakai at this venue before and it was amazing. It had so much more in the acrobatic department. That's why we went to see this one, we thought the boys would love seeing the acrobatics. However, TORUK is more along the theatre line, not so much in the acrobatics. There was one section that had some cool balancing, but other than that it was just a bunch of running around, focusing more on the story line and the colors and special effects. Still cool, just maybe not for young boys. Girls might do better.

Being different should be good, but not this show. Plot was straight from a second grader's mind. Acrobatics were almost non-existent. Was basically a light show and a boring one at that. Puppeteers were good, as were the kite flyers and the boomerang act, but not enough to recommend spending a hundred bucks to see.

Visually stunning but the story was a little weak. This show was way better than the movie Avatar. The narrator had a wonderful voice.

Toruk is a departure from the usual Cirque show but it is well worth going to see. The $30M budget has been well spent in amazing costume and set design. The collaboration with James Cameron and the Avatar franchise has brought a great arena show to life for all the family to enjoy. The link to an interactive phone app gives an extra dimension to the show that kids and adults alike will enjoy.

I'm an avid Cirque du Soleil fan and have seen over twelve of their shows. This was by far my least favorite. There were very few acrobatic acts such as they have in so many shows and the ones they had were not very interesting or entertaining. I felt that potentially Cirque was limiting theirselves within the Avatar storyline. Furthermore, you have to have seen the movie to get the context of the show. The project mapping was gorgeous and the set was quite cool, but other than that, I would pass on this show.

Toruk was visually stunning! The way the turned the arena into ever changing Pandora was pure genius. The costumes, storytelling and the acrobatics were as top notch as we have come to expect from Circ du soieli. They one part of he production that fell short of my expectations was the attempt at interactivity via the us of ones personal mobile phone. I found that check the phone for ques of when to interact was distracting and it did not enhance my show experience. Overall it was a great show and it was worth the money I paid to go see it. The Arena up graded ours seats, I imagine because the sold fewer ticket that they expected. They where upgrading a lot of seats. But this only served to pack us in like sardines. The seats themselves where very tight and uncomfortable.

Any Cirque de Soleil shows are worth watching...Toruk is no exception. The only difference is the show was stopped for ~ 10 mins due to technical glitch and was then resumed. That lost the spontaneity of the entire show, and was frustrating. This event was at the MTS Center in Winnipeg, MB, Canada.

Recently went to this show at the BMO Bradley Center for our anniversary. What a great choice it was! It was amazing to see all the incredible actors/acrobats, they appeared effortless and gravity free, it was obvious they were very strong yet so graceful. The scenes were a definite eye-wow full of bright colors and so intriguing to see the seamless stage transformations. Wow, Can't say enough great things about the show it truly was incredible!

Toruk was an absolutely amazing, well performed spectacle. The actors were superb and amazingly adept at their complicated performances. Also, I was absolutely blown away by the special effects that were displayed without the help of any CGI. Did not know it was possible.

Cirque Du Soleil did not disappoint! The show was stunning, from the costumes to the set productions. Avatar came to life! The cast of performers were amazing to watch as they performed acrobatic maneuvers that defied physical strength, yet that is Cirque! We had great seats, but for this type of performance all seats were good. Would see it again!

I loved it, I would watch the entire exact show all over again and I know I would be in amazement and awe all over again. This was my very first time watching Cirque Du Soleil and I felt like a kid. It was amazingly unbelievably awesome. The colors-everything that went into making this event-the colors, I know I said that already but there is not one thing I did not like. I love it all. I hope they will be at Prudential Center next year with even the same show or a different show, you can count me in as well as all of our friends and family. No words that can describe the awesomeness of the Avatar - Toruk - The First Flight. Loved it Loved it Loved it. Absolutely LOVED IT. Don't miss it....

Stage scenery and costumes were colorful, beautiful and interesting. Overall pageantry was great. Limited amount of gymnastics, no extraordinary feats, not high energy like in other Cirque du Soleil shows. So although it was a good show, we were disappointed because it was not what we expected. Instead there was just a lot of walking around by the characters and talking in their made-up language. The kids in our family said the next time we take them to a show it should have magic or something more exciting.

I've been to about 5 different Cirque du Soleil shows in the past. Cirque du Soilel the acrobats, acts, costume design, set design always amazing. There are fewer acts in Toruk than other shows I've seen but I actually like this one the most because the set design is best yet nothing I've seem so extraordinary out of this world creativity.
