Back in the '60's, the down south kid's who grew up steeped in Blues, Gospel, Soul and the Brtish Invasion blues revival started to blend all of that with the musical attitudes and technologies of the West Coast rock scene, a sound that favored musicianship over show, the fluidity of jazz and the bite and posture of the blues, with seemingly psychic interplay. It happened again last friday night at Chastain Park Ampitheatre. Cowboy rides again with their unique harmonies and inventive riffs. Randall Bramblett has been everywhere lately and is everybody's favorite Jam buddies (Bonnie Raitt and TTB here recently) laying the just right sax, keys and vocals down on every collaboration like it was the best take at a studio. Wet Willie:: still ROCKS the house and Jimmy and the Hall siblings got some mighty gospelfied vocals and the harp licks and sax are a triple threat. Still potent and moving. But Chuck Levell. It is really obvious why the Allman Bro's tapped him to help plug the gaping loss of Duane, truly distinctive style, Colonel Bruce still keeping the faith. Rock on ya'll.

Outstanding show! Jimmy Hall is one of the best southern rock artist. He gives it his all and always works well with the other artist. All the bands were good, but, I think he delivers more than anyone. I highly encourage others to see him perform.

Normally i am suspicious when bands do play some 30 or 40 years later. Not with thes guys. I was stunned about the perfection wet willie did their show and jimmy hall sang as if he was still in his twenties. Chuck leavell is a trademark of his own. He does not have to show somebody what he has achieved in his musical live. And he delivered.

Although Tommy Talton, Scott Boyer, Cowboy, Jimmy Hall, Wet Willie, Randall Bramblett, Chuck Leavell, Bruce Hampton and Paul Hornsby may not be household names, their names are synonymous with quality music, songwriting and musicianship. Jimmy Hall still has as much energy today as he did 40 years ago. I'll go out of my way and pay good money to see these performers any chance I get. I hope to see this line up together again soon!
