The band had to be disappointed with the small turnout, but they didn't show it. Two hours of killer jazz/rock fusion from guitarist Vernon Reid, bassist Jack Bruce, keyboardist John Medeski and drummer Cindy Blackman-Santana. Many in the audience clearly were there to see Cream legend Bruce, and he was in fine form (and strong voice) all evening. I would see this show again in a heartbeat.

Listening to four of the greatest jazz-rock musicians in the world...playing in B.B. King's Blues Club...in the Blue Note Jazz Festival...it doesn't get any better than this! Vernon Reid's idea to tour North America then Europe, gave the lucky few who got to see this band...the THRILL of a LIFETIME! Jack Bruce is better than he ever was, and watching the interplay between these amazing players was awesome. They obviously LOVE playing with each other, so the gift they gave us in this concert was very special. I sure hope somebody is wise enough to issue a DVD of one of the concerts...either this one or their appearance in a few days at the Montreaux Jazz Festival. Thank you Vernon Reid, Jack Bruce, Cindy Blackman-Santana, & John Medeski...for creating a once-in-a-lifetime experience that touched our hearts. The love was obvious.

To see " the bass legend" in action still has all that fusion in his blood and the ability to weld rock to jazz was sooooo cool !! And his vocals the one and only "Bruce" ..... Incredible leads of fire by Vernon and percussion with over the top non stop energy on Cindy's part first class and blend it all together with a B3 that was like somebody pulled the nuclear drawbar and the Leslie stuck on wide sweep vibrato .... And while "riding with Spectrum down their highway" on occasion you would stop at "view points" that met the sweet perfect blend of four hearts pouring out their gifts in harmony. Truly a tremendous group. As far as volume , there was no complaints of too low .... And I loved every minute of it all .

Incredible musicianship, perhaps the greatest exhibition of drumming I have ever witnessed. Jack Bruce appeared to be having more fun than I've seen him have in years. And his voice hasn't diminished one bit...he sounds the same as he did in '68! Can't believe what a fantastic guitarist Vernon Reid is...much better than I remember when I saw Living Color back in the day. This is a rare opportunity to see great musicians interact at an extremely high level, playing very intricate music. Do not miss this band !!

Four masters of their respective instruments get together to pay homage to Tony Williams - what can you say? They definitely kicked it - in a highly energized, freewheeling, powerful concert. Jack Bruce was doing "fusion" jazz with Tony Williams before the title "fusion" was even applied. This performance was again almost undefinable - post-acid-jazz?? I don't know. But it did more than just honor Williams - it was a living, moving, screaming, banning piece of well-orchestrated cacophony - and, wow - it was terrific! Cindy Blackman-Santana is so fast, precise, inventive - and - geez - I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone hit the drums so hard - man or woman - in my life. She was mostly Tony with a little bit of Keith Moon thrown in. Jack was enigmatic - laying it down deep - keeping the whole crazy enterprise anchored - chopping up the backbeat - adding counterpoint - pushing it out. He still has it! Vernon- Vernon is probably the best living electric guitarist out there - period. He blew off the roof - wild and controlled - how does he do that? And Modeski - everywhere he needed to be - fills and leads at the same time - building - complementing - - doing Larry Young proud. jThe last time I saw anything this intense and musically adept was early Mahavishnu Orchestra. But these guys take it into new terrain doing music made over 40 years ago. May they keep on doing this for a while!
