This show was a perfect way to spend a day in NYC with great music. Charlene Kaye is an amazing performer and really enjoys the crowd. Theo Katzman is so talent and really seemed like he wanted to play for each and every person in the room.

Bought tickets for this the moment I heard about it. Theo started off with a great set to warm us off, his contact with the audience was really great. Second time I've seen him live and he exceeded my expectations! We were all excited for Charlene and danced and sang along to many of the songs. She looked and sounded fabolous and I'm so happy I got to see her. Didn't have much experience with Shoot The Freak before the show, but I was pleasently surprised and found myself dancing and cheering more than expected. Great venue, not too crowded even for a sold out show and was able to meet Theo and Charlene after the show and get my CD's signed.

Okay, so I've never been to see any of the artists live before- I was very familiar with Charlene Kaye's music, and I'd heard Theo Katzman before online, but Shoot the Freak was entirely new to me. In short, they all rocked. The atmosphere was awesome, the artists all seemed to be right in their element- and they were all very friendly and welcoming when I spoke to them to thank them for their performances. I would definitely recommend seeing any one of them live- particularly Theo and Charlene, whose musical styles are slightly more my taste. (Nothing against Shoot the Freak- they are thoroughly amazing at what they do, but we each have or preferences)

Theo Katzman was an amazing opener - very talented musician, absolutely love his music, and he was adorable on stage. Charlene Kaye put on a great show, as usual. She looked beautiful and sounded great! Very excited for her new album. I was not very familiar with the music of Shoot the Freak, but they had a really great set and I enjoyed their music a lot - all three members of the band were very talented. My only complaint was that Theo and Charlene should have played longer!

I was not completely familiar with the music of Theo Katzman and Shoot The Freak before attending. Charlene Kaye's music is the stuff I know way better. BUT, the show, in its entirety, was amazing. I don't think there was a single song I wasn't rocking out to! Would definitely love to see them again one day! Awesome show, Mercury Lounge! :)

Sometimes you wonder about afternoon shows, especially when it's all ages at 12:30 PM. However, despite my initial concerns about the company, this show was phenomenal! Theo, as always, tore it up on stage; it's refreshing to see someone with so much heart who clearly appreciates each and every concert-goer (his setlist was peppered with heartfelt phrases like "I can't believe you guys know my lyrics"). Regardless of the sentimentality though, the boy knows how to work his guitar. Charlene left us all begging for her forthcoming album (Animal Love 1 and 2 are always crowd favorites) and even had the crowd a little teary eyed on a bright Saturday afternoon. Shoot the Freak, though much different from Char and Theo in both sound and stage presence, brought us to a different place all together with Mia's kickass base line, Garret's vocals and Devon's rocking rhythm (he even sang a song from behind the kit, which according to Mia "was the highlight of her life.") All in all, a wonderufl show! Hope to see them all again soon.
