This was a great lineup of groups and singers. I really enjoyed the energy from the audience and the acts on stage. Rolls Royce: amazing, Zapp: WOW, Lenny Williams: still got it, Con Funk shun: great like always and Bootsy: funky as ever ( it ain't good unless you play with it first). The best part of it all was to see my best friend, who hasn't been to a show since the 70's, enjoy this funky thang!

The performers were great as always. It is too bad that the plug was pulled before Bootsy Collins finished his performance. This was a show where you can definitely let your "funk flag fly."

I enjoyed the entire show. Brass Construction opened the evening and kept us entertained with some roller skating classics. Midnight Star was so good they could have headlined. Chuck Brown and his swing beat kept us rockin. Parliament was...well...Parliament. LOL

My wife and I enjoyed most of the show, with the exception of Mr George Clinton and Show.....or the lack thereof! What was that?

Really enjoyed the majority of the show, especially the fact that it began AT EXACTLY 7pm as advertised!! Yaaaaah promoters and performers for being prompt!! LOVED Brass Construction and really enjoyed Midnight Star. Audible by Chuck Brown??? Not sure if it was a sound-quality issue for him/his band or just his aging voice. Good thing I knew the songs, otherwise I wouldn't have understood a THING he sang!! His back-up singers were ON-POINT and that helped a lot. V.I.C. / Wobble....love the line-dance but that music genre didn't seem appropriate for this venue. That being said, it was STILL a WHOLE LOT BETTER than the final stage act. HORRIBLY DISAPPOINTING P-FUNK! We all age and lose our "zest and vigor" but at that point, it's time to just say "NO" when invited to perform to a PAYING audience - ESPECIALLY when your back-up singers are awful too!! Won't soon forget this and CERTAINLY won't pay to see them ever again!

The show was about Go Go meets Funk. Hands down "wall to wall tree top tall GO GO out funks them all. " As always Chuck Brown aka Chuck Baby turned it out. I love you Chuck!!! :) But overall the whole show was very nice-I really enjoyed myself.

The Hampton Funk Fest was the bomb all (4) groups had their own special style and gave a quality performance Brass Construction, Midnight Star, Chuck Brown and George Clinton and Parliment. George Clinton is very people oriented and appreciates true fans.He was very welcoming as he allowed fans to come on the stage and personally shake hands. This show was worth the money !!!!!!!!

I really enjoyed the concert, but unfortunately George Clinton's voice is done... Chuck Brown on the other hand was the show stopper, and should have been the headliner. Who's on the agenda for next year?

Great show, especially Brass Construction, Midnight Star and Chuck Brown. Then P-funk came on and it all went to hell. Someone cranked up the volume to 15 and ears started to bleed. Couldn't take it. And considering the mass exodus that started 2 songs into the set, we weren't the only ones. Second time we've seen George Clinton et al. and they can sound and deserve much, much better.

The show was great but the fact that the Hampton Colliseum wouldn't let floor seats approach the stage (only the front row could be up there) was a huge dissapointment. The sound guy could have done better with Chuck Brown's portion because the only thing I could here was the go go percussion for the most part but it was still a fun concert.

Had so much fun at the Hampton Funk Fest. Thank you organizers. Great event. It felt like one big party. Enjoyed the atmosphere, positive vibe. First US concert I have been to where practically everyone was on their feet for the entire show. Loved it. Looking forward to next year. Promote heavily. Should have been more people there to enjoy the show. Very diverse crowd.

Brass Construction and Midnight Star were great. 1rst time I've seen or heard from them since the 80s. Chuck Brown took the show for me though. George and PFunk were good but I wish Chuck had closed out the show. When he was onstage the place (people) were throwing down. But it is good to have George back. Again I want to thank the Coliseum for allowing us to really enjoy ourselves at a Funk Festival. I attended last November 's concert and had a ball. But the one in February of this year was not as much fun . The performances were rushed and the attendants refused to let us get up in dance. But thanks again for allowing me to have a wonderful time this weekend.

Crowd was ready to party - Midnight Star did a very good and professional set - Chuck Brown was good also - Brass Construction fair perfomance - did some unknown songs and not convincing - George Clinton and company - too many people on stage - uneven show - and familiar sounds did not resonate with the crowd - The volcalist (Steve) and Sir Nose tried to bring energy to the listless show but it did not work. Why was VIC there? Wobble? He just performed with the track no adlibs - even wanted it played again. Very unsual for a Hampton event.

Midnight Star, Brass Construction and Chuck Brown were pretty good but George Clinton had no energy. I have seen George Clinton Parliament Funkadelic many times and was excited to see him again. Total disappointment! Seriously! We traveled an hour and a half. Got a hotel room just to see him lip sync in a old brown blanket? We didn't realize he was on the stage until late in the concert. No dred's, no colorful costumes and no energy! Who is that big guy on the stage? Where's George? He played more rock than funk! The only thing recognizable was his stage dancer guy with the great body! The music was boring! Come on George! FYI We go to Jazz Fest every year. We have seen some great P-Funk shows. This was not one of them.

The concert started on time, Rose Royce was phenomenal. In fact, every act was on point and worth the wait EXCEPT Lenny Williams. He was raunchy, out of context, and better suited for a Blues or Jazz Fest. There was nothing funky about Lenny except that he stunk up the place with his awful songs. He did not deserve more time than ConFunk Shun. The music monitors for most of the performers were a little too loud and often drowned out their voices. Overall this was a great night of music, and one that we'd definitely see again...but only if Lenny Williams is not in the line up. Ugh...

Fantastic! Mature, adult audience with everybody feeling comfortable to dance, sing along, stand up....just a mature adult audience reminiscing and having a great time. Line up was excellent...outfits...so mature and sharp looking! No droopy drawers...no MFs, nor other obscene language, or gyrations. (Lenny Williams tried to go there with the language a couple of times.) An evening to remember. Friends who were visiting from New York are still raving about it.

For the past 6 years or so my wife and I have been to some sort of 70s funk fest or oldies concert every year available in our area, this was by far the best one yet. The groups provided quality entertainment and audience participation. We loved all the groups present and are looking forward to there return.

The Hampton Funk Fest was filled with great music and some great entertainment from fellow attendees who chose to wear the best 70s gear. Rose Royce sang from a track (no band) which was a bit diasappointing, but Con Funk Shun, Zapp and Bootsy made up for it. I look forward to next year's show.

We got our money's worth and then some. The acts were great and sounded close to the original sound tracks. Zapp did their thing! Confunshun had awesome musicality with their instruments. I loved Bootsy except for at times, the music became blaring, extremely loud and was more noisey than anything else. I wish the bands had been able to do sound checks to make the sound quality better. There was a LOT of on stage and behind the scene stage hands doing stuff while the acts were on. Not sure what that was but it didn't look so professional. The DJ was great - keeping us energized between the acts. Event needs to be pubbed more because there should have been a full house. I did not find out about it until the week before the event. The event started on time and gave us 4 hours of straight entertainment.

This show had all the makings of a "flash" moment for those of us that came of age in the 70's. The enthusiasm of the crowd affirmed how life-enhancing this music was and continues to be. Rose Royce did a good performance. Tthe very young lady had a stellar voice, but her age obviously made this more of a 'Rose Royce Experience'. Two of the original members backed her up and did steps and took the lead at times. It seems they had to sacrifice the originality of the group in the name of getting the music to the crowd. Zapp was fabulous. They remain a very high-energy group. They did not disappoint. The essence of the lost brother, Roger, remains with the group and Roger & Larry's brother Lester was eloquent in telling the crowd how his life is forever changed, but continually blessed by the incidents of the past. All of the performers were great and we sat of the edge of our seats at their performance. Lenny Williams..........................what can I say! He remains the balladeer with unexpected lyrics. Great act. ConFunkShun was a bit of a disappointment. The looked fantastic, continuing to play their instruments, doing steps and singing. But they spent a lot of time veering from their own music and playing the music of Frankie Beverly, Luther, and others. Then they had to cram one of their most popular songs in when it was time for them to leave the stage. Another thing that was phenomenal about this show was the DJ who played the continued old school tunes between acts. The Coliseum was a Dance Party!!!!! What fun! Then comes the reason I was there, Bootsie Collins in all his splendor. He did my favorite Bootsy tune 'I'd Rather Be With You'. His stage presence, voice, outfits, playmanship is virtually unchanged. L-O-V-E-D IT!'

When I think of funk, I think of Bootsy and George. Rick James and James Brown. And even Zapp and Brass Construction.. Not Lenny Williams! The show was nice but having Rose Royce and Lenny Williams didn't make sense. Especially when they have to cut the main event (Bootsy) short!

Zapp gave a great show as usual. They never get old. Lenny Williams was a surprise. I wasn't a fan before. His songs are catchy, funny, and at times down right nasty. He's definitely an entertainer. ConFunkShun was ok. Bootsy was ok. There were great moments and sit down & wait for the next song moments. My date said he needs to update his act because its the same one he did 20 years ago. As usual it was a party atmosphere at the Hampton Coliseum!

Brass Construction, Midnight Star were Good, Chuck Brown was Phenominal and Rocked The House. George Clinton And Parliament Stunked, I love the Parliament and All Their Great Hits from The 70's. The sounded OK on Cosmic Slop and That's The only song they were able to play. The sounded terrible and Geaorge Voice and The Band Is Washed Up and need to go sit down and stop trying to perform.

Was disappointed, Midnight Star was the best. No need to go into detail Those of us that was there saw alot of funkateers LEAVE. Solo was to LONG. Boring. People remember The P-Funk of the late 70's & early 80's NOT the 60's Rock & Roll Funk. They did jam at the end, but by that time the Funkateers was gone. I stayed to the end. P-Funk will live forever. George just remember We Love You.
