Such a powerful performance. Well worth the 30 year wait. Could not get any decent photos because the place was jumping so much! For the last couple of years, whenever I heard a Prince song I would get sad. However, after watching this band perform some of the best songs ever written, I can feel a lot less sad. There were a lot of tears raining down in the Tabernacle during the show, but at the end I walked out smiling. One of the greatest shows I've ever seen in my life. Highest possible recommendation!

The Revolution had The Tabernacle on fire!! From the opening America to the encore closing, the Revolution took us on a musical ride for 2 hours. I get chills just thinking about it. Big ups to Stokley for providing great vocals and energy. Wendi, Lisa, BrownMark, Bobby Z and the Doctor killed it!! Wendi s cover of Purple Rain was flawless.

The House of Blues was a very cool venue. The Revolution are absolutely amazing. They are doing an amazing job of sharing Prince's music with the fans. They are cultivating the legacy. They sound great, like they never missed a beat picking up 30 years later. Thier warmth and love is contagious.

The Revolution was exactly what I needed. It brought closure that I have been unable to find elsewhere. Many Prince fans have not been able to go to Minneapolis to say goodbye. This was my chance. It was the most emotional I have ever been at a concert in my life and I hope to see them again someday.

The concert was a very nice tribute to Prince and the fans. They were playing from their heart - not trying to replicate anything. I thought it was a good concert - song choices could have been a little better, but great job overall.

The Revolution was great in concert but the sound system at the Aztec is not perfect. I've seen this band elsewhere and I enjoyed the show much more because the sound was superior to the Aztec. I do like the setup at the theatre though the standing room areas are tiered so I never felt crowded or claustrophobic. Its a nice old theatre but the sound system needs to be fine tuned.

In my humble opinion, The Revolution Band are one of the few who have the skill and the authority to give the world a proper Prince Tribute. They are a great band and they delivered an amazing performance reminiscent of the original Purple Rain tour minus of course the great one. Although Prince was not physically in the room, you could feel his spirit in and throughout the music. If you have the opportunity to - please go check 'em out, you will not be disappointed. And if you have never seen Prince before, I suggest you watch Purple Rain and then go see the show. It will be the closest you will ever get to the full Prince experience.

First off, let me say that many people may be skeptical about seeing The Revolution without Prince. Please allow me to help you banish those thoughts. Even after all these years, they are a spectacularly tight band. As far as the vocals, Wendy and BrownMark, along with special guest Stokley (best known as Mint Condition's lead singer) handle leading the crowd's sing-along just fine. The band sounds just like you remember on the classic Prince and the Revolution era albums and are well worth the trip to go see them.

Words cant say,,u would have 2 c it live. Perfect, each member becomes as 1 great band. I watched Purple Rain alot n seeing The Revolution from the start of them being announced as THE REVOLUTION in the movie to the last songs played as in the movie is almost like being at 1st avenue when the movie was made. My advice is watch the movie PURPLE RAIN then 4sure u will feel the hart n soul that this special band has Prince was the heart but this band caries all the sole. He would 4sure b proud of them. N 2the REVOLUTION thank u 4 u made the right choice I bin to Paisley Park n 1st Ave but the reliving the movie in person is so special u truly feel like ur reliving the movie in person. THANK YOU THE REVOLUTION

Review of The Revolution At The TLA - Philly (4-29-2017) ------------------------------------------------------------ I arrived at the TLA at 8:45pm to see a LONG line going up the street and around the corner (to a dark alley)!! As one fan remarked, This must be the hottest show in town! AND HE IS CORRECT! After about 15 minutes, I was finally able to enter the TLA to a SOLD-OUT room. The people were eagerly anticipating the arrival of the legendary band, THE REVOLUTION (Prince s first band) to the stage. At 9:30pm, The Revolution started their performance with the funk-rock tune Computer Blue ...interesting enough was the role reversal of the spoken intro by Lisa Coleman and Wendy Melvoin. The guitar solo by Wendy was great, sounding pretty much like the album cut (off Purple Rain)! Bassist Brown Mark performed lead vocals on Computer Blue and America , which featured spacey synthesizer riffing by the one and only Dr. Matt Fink! Wendy performed lead vocals on Mountains . The next song Automatic was da bomb, with some powerful bass & lead guitar jamming by Brownmark & Wendy! The next song was a fun sing-along (although it s my least of the Purple Rain cuts)...that would be Take Me With U , with Wendy singing Prince s part and Brownmark stepping in on the chorus. Things got more funky when The Revolution invited another superstar to the stage.....(drumroll please)......................MR. STOKLEY WILLIAMS (from the soulful/funk band Mint Condition)!! Stokley handled lead vocals on the funky Uptown . Stokley added more energy to the room as he danced about. He pumped up the audience during D.M.S.R. , which was just too funky...so funky you had to run to the exit door for some fresh air!! DAY-UM!! Lisa was jamming on a piano solo on this one. The next song was a real surprise to me...the band performed Our Destiny with Lisa on lead vocals. (The only time I remember hearing this song played live was on a bootleg recording I heard about 10 years ago--the recording was from a Prince Birthday Concert in 1984 -- 6/7/1984, to be exact). It was a nice synthesizer-driven pop tune, that was followed a jam session between the 5 member band. The jam is called Roadhouse Garden (another song from that 1984 birthday concert)....everyone was jammin - from the bass to the guitar to the drums (handled by Bobby 'Z' Rivkin)!! If you wasn t dancin , either you were paralyzed or dead. WOW...being in the presence of The Revolution and watching them perform actually transported me back to 1983-84!! (All I needed was for Prince to pop up) Raspberry Beret was another fun sing-along, with Wendy on lead vocals. Erotic City was fine, but better was the super-funky blast of Let s Work . The air was super-thick with the odorious, meaty, thumbin bass workout, provided by Brownmark! So noxious that the paint on the walls of the TLA started to peel off!! Stokley handled lead vocals on this and performed co-lead on 1999 (with help from Wendy & Lisa and Brownmark). Every fan was partying like it was 1999 !!! At this point of the show, Wendy began to speak about the man behind the music....PRINCE. After a few moments of heartfelt words concerning this phenomenal mentor/musician/singer/producer/songwriter/all-around performer, the band performed a short version of the feel-good, Utopian pop tune Paisley Park . From there, it was back to funk with Controversy , complete with more jamming between Brown Mark and Wendy! Three of the members of The Revolution left the stage, leading Wendy & Lisa onstage. Wendy began talking about the day that Prince transitioned to the next world (from this earthly realm) on 4-21-2016. The next song to be performed was actually recorded on 4-21-1985 (31 years prior)...Wendy & Lisa played the song Sometimes It Snows in April , with Wendy on acoustic guitar. The song was played in a different key than the original track. It was a beautiful, melancholic tune that was the perfect tribute to this fallen musician. Now, it was time to get everyone dancin , and what better way to get the fans revved up? By getting to go crazy with the next song, Let s Go Crazy . The energy level was very high and every fan was dancing & singing to this scorchin rock tune! Stokley returned to the stage to sing the lead for the funky Kiss . A monster guitar jam (by Wendy) set the venue afire, as the band performed the next song When Doves Cry (lead vocally by Stokley). The last song featured Wendy on lead vocals...it was the Purple Anthem of 1984.....YES, you guessed it, Purple Rain . For the encore, the fans & the band sang Happy Birthday to Calder, Wendy s 11-year-old son (as Wendy recorded the shoutout to her phone...[Calder was at home]). After that, it was time for 2 more songs. In the tradition of the movie PURPLE RAIN, the songs were I Would Die 4 U and Baby, I m A Star , both lead vocally by Mr. Stokley. All of this Purple fun ended at 11:20pm.

It was a sold out concert & there was a line of obviously excited fans who love Prince & The Revolution (many wearing something purple). The line began near the entrance of the blues club on West 42nd Street all the way down the block to 8th Avenue and around the corner. A male fan who was standing outside in this summer like weather, close to the front of the line for quite a while (maybe hours) suddenly fell ill and was taken to the hospital. I am so sorry that happened, and that he had to miss the show. He missed an unforgettable performance by The Revolution. After entering the club (thank God I was early and entered the club fast) I had dinner and listened to music for about 2 hours. Finally an unseen male announcer says "Ladies & Gentlemen, The Revolution" The show now began as Lisa, Bobby Z, Matt (The Doctor), Wendy and BrownMark (sucking a lollypop) came onto the stage. Wendy spoke first saying basically that the audience, the fans are part of this show, the performance. We would be singing with the band. The band begins with Computer Blue and then America. Wendy on lead guitar & vocals and BrownMark ( OMG he's hot) on bass guitar & vocals are in front, behind them are Bobby Z on drums( I love watching him play those drums but never singing) and Lisa & Dr. Matt both on keyboards& vocals. On several of the songs they had a guest singer Stokley Williams ( I love his voice) from the group Mint Condition who toured with Prince and considered Prince their mentor. The songs continued and I noticed on two occasions BrownMark was throwing white guitar picks into the audience, I hope whoever caught then kept them and not try to sell it on ebay. We all sang along with the songs Mountains, Automatic (I never heard that live), Take Me With You, Our Destiny/Road House Garden (I only heard that on one of my bootleg cds) Raspberry Beret, Paisley Park), Erotic City (yes they sang the F word too), Purple Rain, Controversy, Kiss, When Doves Cry, Let's Work, DMSR, Uptown,1999,Delirious, Let's Go Crazy, an amazingly beautiful solo by Wendy on acoustic guitar Sometimes It Snows In April. For the encore they performed I Would Die 4 You & Baby I'm A Star. They did not perform The Beautiful Ones (where was Bilal?), 17 days ( I love that song) Dirty Mind or one of the most requested by this audience Head. I heard fans shouting Head, Head, Head but there was no Head that night. No one should ever think that this group of very talented gifted musicians is just performing like a Prince tribute band. Prince always said Real Music By Real Musicians, what we experienced tonight was the real deal, a beautiful experience, definitely some relief for all the grief we've been feeling for over a year now. We love Prince and now Wendy, Lisa, BrownMark, Matt and Bobby Z were here with us sharing all the love they have for Prince.

the venue was fitting for the Revolution, the opportunity to purchase a kick up ticket to go in early and not stand in a long line was a great perk to utilize. It allowed me to be up close and personal with the group. It was the first time I had ever seen the Revolution and it was spectacular. I will never forget this being a Prince follower for over 37 years. the music was great, the sound was even better, stellar performance. My purple group only wishes the Revolution would travel southeast so other can partake of this opportunity. Please consider, we all know Prince would accommodate smiles. feeling grateful. Wendy and Brownmark had me crying and the entire group was kick butt. thank you Prince was smiling and proud of all. love 4 one another. thank you

I hope, the members of The Revolution felt the overwhelming LOVE for them that night. Yes, we all mourn Prince, and we miss him dearly. But his iconic and talented band has found a perfect way to continue to bring the Fans his music, their music, and with that, keep that unique and awesome 80s beat going. Although 33 years have passed since Purple Rain, The Revolution is full of energy and their sound is as crisp and electrifying as it was back then. There is a strong bond among the Purple Family and Fans, and thanks to The Revolution, that famous Minneapolis sound can once again be enjoyed live in cities around the country.

After Prince's death, it left a big hole in my 'musical heart' and when The Revolution announced they were going to do a tribute/closure/celebration tour, we grabbed tickets immediately. We caught their show at House of Blues in Dallas June 14th and they had the crowd engaged and dancing the whole show. (See video clip I took below for a visual) I'm actually rearranging my schedule so I can catch them in Portland in a few weeks - it's that good IMO. Please don't be skeptical on attending this sacred show. I could feel the heart and soul of The Revolution pouring into their instruments. This has to be the hardest experience for them to perform without Prince. I was absolutely blown away by the cohesion of the band. It was a powerful and moving experience. I was unable to see Prince and The Revolution perform in 1985. This was the concert of my dreams as it was intimate and everything more than that what I expected with only 1 exception. The hardest part was seeing Wendy sing Sometimes it snows in April, and Paisley Park. The pain and ache in her face as she is still mourning the loss of her brother. It is a beautiful show and I would see it again and again if they were close to me. Age has done this band justice and I only wish Prince was here physically to lead them.

I know some people may be skeptical about watching The Revolution without Prince, but those fears should be laid to rest! The band did an *amazing* job performing - even without the guidance of their mentor and leader. This show was even better than the First Avenue tribute shows held Sept 2016, as they were tighter, funkier, and more relaxed. The band line-up consisted only of the 5 (Bobby Z, Matt Fink, Lisa Colman, Mark Brown, and Wendy Melvoin) with a few songs led by Mint Condition's very energetic Stokely Williams. The Revolution opened up with Computer Blue and played many of the hits (including Purple Rain, DMSR, Controversy, Raspberry Beret, and Let's Work) as well as other songs such as Paisley Park and Sometimes It Snows In April and even a few songs from 'the vault'. The tone of the concert was perfect. It wasn't sad (except Sometimes It Snows In April and Paisley Park) and it certainly didn't seem like the group was cashing-in or taking advantage of Prince's death. Rather, the concert was very much a celebration of Prince's music and life and the band made sure that the audience was consistently reminded of Prince (Wendy even told the audience that since Prince was no longer here, *we* had to sing his parts for them). I enjoyed every minute of the concert! It was the next best thing to watching *Prince* and The Revolution! If you are a Prince fan, you should definitely check out this concert... you won't be dissapointed!

I'm a Prince fan of 35+ years and was crushed when I heard of him passing away. I would go to EVERY SINGLE CONCERT and purchase EVERY SINGLE ALBUM. I was searching something on Google when I stumbled across an article about The Revolution performing in select cities. It intrigued me so I went on to read the article. The original members of The Revolution were being interviewed by ABC news and they talked about how performing has been therapy to help them cope with Prince being gone and the same goes for fans. When I learned they would be in ATL, there was no question that I'd be there. The Revolution did not disappoint. Wendy, Lisa, Bobby Z, Dr. Fink and Brown Mark ROCKED The Tabernacle! They sounded just as they did back then, if not better. The crowd was hype and so in-tune with them, as if Prince were in the room. It was an amazing experience! It was a nice surprise for Stokeley to make an appearance and sing a couple songs with them. Prince would have been proud. I'm so glad I went to this concert!

Great funk band. I was so glad they did not try to replace Prince, not possible, but rather celebrated his music. They are by definition the best Prince cover band in the world, but they were much more. They made the music live. I loved when the audience sang all of Prince's parts. His guitar was missed though Wendy can hold a funky melody and shred. In any band but Prince's , she would have been the featured guitarist.

So freaking glad we bought tickets to see The Revolution at Atlanta's Tabernacle Theater! What an incredible show by some amazing performers! Of course they played all the hits from their era with Prince, but they also played some deeper cuts off "Erotic City" that was fantastic. They had people out of their seats and dancing all from start to finish and took a moment in the middle of the show to memorialize Prince with a beautiful sing along of "Sometimes it Snows in April." If you love Prince or are even a casual fan, please go see The Revolution when they come to town near you. It truly was a fantastic show that nothing short of brilliant. the revolution has not missed a step being away from the stage together for almost 30 years. they have literally found their rhythm as they show love and reverence for prince during their show. this is not a therapy session which is how it might have seemed when they first got back together in 2016. these people are friends and enjoy one another and they are great musicians. you can't help but to miss prince if you are a true fan of prince (and the revolution) but they had help from stokley williams of mint condition. prince loved mint condition and had them open for him while back. stokley does not try to imitate prince in any way, just adds to the fun and excitement of the music. bravo!

Incredible high energy show. The Revolutions transport you back to the early days of Prince in the 80 s. Stokley (from Mint Condition) is the guest vocalist with Dance moves and precision that both entertain and amaze. This band is well rehearsed and spot on. It s a rare opportunity to see all the original band members of any band alive, healthy, and still at the top of their game. You will be energized by their performance and the crowd participation. Thank you Wendy, Lisa, Dr. Fink, BrownMark, and Bobby Z for taking this show on the road again.

This concert was excellent. We were not sure how they were going to pull this as far as the vocals were concerned but they did an excellent job. We really enjoyed this concert since the last concert we attended was Prince's last concert. Thank you Revolution!

I had a blast. I am a true Prince fan and I appreciate that the Revolution stuck to the music they created with him. Having Stokely join in on the fun was just the icing on the cake (I'm a huge Mint Condition fan too)!

This was such an amazing show, the entire band was ON POINT!! It was like I was back in the 80's with this band. The only thing missing was Prince of course. Wendy wailed on that guitar and well as Brownmark on that bass! The entire band was so full of energy and love it flowed out into that audience 10 fold! Thank you for coming to Atlanta. The Tabernacle is such a great venue! Would see them over and over again! Peace and Blessings!

The Revolution band was awesome. It was really neat to see all of the original band members stick together and bring us back to the 80's when we used to listen to them with Prince. The only thing that would have made it better was if Prince was there himself with them. Hope they come back again. Thanks for the great show on New Year's Eve.

The venue was nice but way out of the way. The band sounded fantastic and they played basically every Prince song I was expecting except "When Doves Cry", which was a bummer but you can't get it all. The only downside was Brown Mark, the bass player, being clearly upset throughout much of the show, seemingly because it wasn't sold out and the crowd wasn't wild enough for him. I drove almost five hours from Alabama for the show. I can't help it if you got booked at some redneck casino in the middle of B.F.E! Show some class and play like it's to a packed house every night! It didn't cause me to have a bad time in any way but it was hard not to notice. When your career peaks out in 1986 you should be grateful anyone is willing to shell out $$$ to see you on a holiday! I'm still going to go to the NOLA show after Mardi Gras, but it didn't seem like this band will be touring too much longer, although I hope I'm wrong.

The Revolution are back together and at the top of their game. I saw them at First Ave in September 2016, Philly in April of 2017 and Atlantic City in August 2017. Their shows are as funky as you can get, and you'll have a great time. GO SEE THEM!

The Revolution was one of the best shows I have seen. I would definitely say they are in the top 3. They are excellent musicians & put on a great show. It was the first show I have ever been to where people in the audience were on their feet dancing in the first song. Definitely a must for Prince fans. They did a new song so there may be new music coming. I would absolutely go to see them again.

I have been a Prince fan for nearly 40 years. I had the pleasure of seeing Prince perform with the Revolution back in the 80's as well as several times up through 2012. It was great to see Wendy, Lisa, Brown Mark, Bobby Z and Matt "The Dr." Fink perform so many great songs from his Royal Badness. This is a tight band of talented musicians who were really enjoying themselves on stage and brought the crowd to its feet. In addition to the hits from the 80's there were some gems from the vault including Roadhouse Garden. This was an amazing tribute to an iconic artist who will live on forever in his music.

I went to Atlantic City from Charleston, SC just to see "The Revolution". I would do it again in a heartbeat! I could not imagine them being any better than what they were. They kept my feet on the floor, a smile on my face the entire time and fulfilled a wish come true. I'm ready to buy a ticket to see them again - hope they continue entertaining and helping us heal from the loss of Prince by playing their music - where it all started!!! Prince & The Revolution!!!!

The Superstar Theater is not such a large venue but the place was completely filled with fans before the start of the show. I had VIP Pit seats, center, 4th row which were so close to the stage. The show began at around 9:15pm, the first song was Computer Blue (one of my favorite songs). I couldn't help but notice Brown Mark (he's gorgeous) on the stage playing his bass and wearing a light colored raincoat (?) & hat which he later took off . People were screaming, standing up from their seats, singing, clapping, dancing, just so happy to see the band on stage. The songs continued one after the other with either Brown Mark or Wendy speaking to the fans also. When they got to the song Paisley Park, Wendy said we all have to all sing this song so Prince could hear us. I had to apologize to Prince because I really don't know the lyrics to the song except "Paisley Park is in your heart" When Wendy & Lisa sang Sometimes It Snows In April it became very quiet but yet so emotional. Stokely Williams of Mint Condition did vocals on a few songs, he sounds great, I love his stage presence with the band. I especially enjoyed when each band member did a solo. Brown Mark with his bass (OMG He's HOT), Wendy on guitar (WOW), Dr. Matt Fink on keyboard (wild & unstoppable), Bobby Z on drums (Perfectly focused) and Lisa on her keyboard (Heavenly). Prince & The Revolution have so much music in their repertoire, I hope in a future show they can add a few more songs like Something In The Water, 17 Days,We can F***, Head, Dirty Mind etc. I know Prince stopped performing some of them because of the explicit lyrics but maybe the band can do an instrumental medley, if they can fit it into the show. I think the fans would love it. I took a Greyhound bus from NYC to Atlantic City & then back home. The travel time totaled about 5 hours but the trip to see this amazing show was worth it. The entire concert, their performance, their amazing talent and musical expertise was wonderful. I hope they come back to our area sometime in the future!!!.

We saw The Revolution at Paisley Park this year in April. It was a moving and emotional show. My friends and I saw them in San Francisco. They are all so talented. The sound wasn't as good, muffled at times and hard to hear, but they were awesome. We were standing the entire time, first about 15 rows back, then moved to the second/third row from the front where we can see everything. I tool some videos and pictures. When Wendy sang, "Sometimes It Snows In April" it was chilling. Very upbeat, dynamic. They are a tight group.

The music was spot on and sounded great! It took a while for the crowd to get into it, I think just because we all miss Prince so much and expect to see his larger than life presence on the stage. However, they brought it! Stokley added great energy to the stage. We had a great time and would see them again! The Fillmore is a wonderful venue,

I feel privileged to have witnessed this special tribute to Prince by his band from the '80s, The Revolution. Wendy Melvoin rightly pointed out that no one could replace him, so the vocals were shared by her; Lisa Coleman; Stokly Williams of Mint Condition; and us, the audience. Susannah Melvoin, Wendy's sister, sang back up as well. We also got one song by "Princess," the tribute group in which Maya Rudolph is a member. I was a teenager when The Revolution were in their prime and didn't appreciate their musicianship at the time, but I do now. They sounded great. I just wish they could've gone on tour under better circumstances. R.I.P. Prince. xo

The Revolution was my Favorite Prince band. Unlike the others they were a FAMILY unit. I cried my ass off when Wendy sang SOMETIMES IT SNOWS IN APRIL. I didn't care for the group Princess, we couldn't understand a word they sang, we could've done without them LOL. It was fun to see others wearing lace and purple tshirts of Prince. I Myself had purple hair and of course my Prince symbol tattoo on left foot. It was truly Bittersweet seeing Him perform @ the forum several time in 2011. I always thout HE would live 4ever. Revolution was amazing !

Wonderful and heart wrenching. To hear the Revolution, sans Prince. There were moments (with long musical intros) where everything was perfect, the instruments, the players, the thud of the bass in your chest, and suddenly I was 17 and wearing my purple ruffled shirt and tight black pants, my first love beside me in her mini lace dress and fingerless gloves at the Purple Rain tour in Worcester, MA. But then a voice would come in and it wasn't HIS voice - and it started to feel more like a karaoke party. Maybe just because I'm a singer, but it just felt so...off. Not bad...just off. It felt a bit like going to a funeral for someone you USED to love...you couldn't not go, but it was happy and sad all at once. Wendy & Lisa singing an acoustic "Sometimes it Snows in April" was heart wrenching though, I was bawling.
