Ane Brun

It’s all about the voice with Norwegian singer Ane Brun. Sure, there are also her exquisite songs, which run from melancholy and jazzy right through to playful, sunny pop and, of course, her wicked dance moves (check the whip-smart choreography in the video to latest single “Directions”). But it’s Ane Brun’s crystal clear, sweet, powerful voice that takes your breath away, while simultaneously breathing new life into songs like “Halo” by Beyonce and “Neighborhood #1” by Arcade Fire. Little wonder Peter Gabriel chose Brun to duet with him on a revitalized version of “Don’t Give Up”, and she was Vince Clarke’s go-to singer for a Depeche Mode reworking.

Traveled to Montreal (4 hr drive) just to see Ane Brun with Linnea Olsson at L'Astral. It was worth every mile. A magical acoustic concert that I was lucky to witness, she is just amazing, one of the best I've ever seen. I loved the venue -- intimate, but not claustrophobic -- classy and well run, excellent sound. And what a terrific crowd, respectful but with great enthusiasm. The GA cabaret seating was comfortable, we got there early enough to choose a spot.

The show was very good, but people standing for 2 aprox 2 hours is madness for this kind of show It´s not a rock show!!!

Ane Brun is a great singer AND a great guitarist - period . We , the audience , were like hypnotized , while she lead the boat with maestry , takin us to magical places . The cello player (who did some very interesting bass parts -as long as cello lead melodies) was very - very good , and the vocalist was the ideal vocalist . definitely a great concert .

Ane Brun walks out on to the stage dressed in black and starts talking to the audience about a dream she had last night. She takes up a large acoustic guitar and sings the crowd! Her voice is hypnotic and she physically rocks back and forth with her scandinavian melodies. I expected a shy folk performance but she really rocked the crowd even bringing on stage a cellist and then fellow swede Anna Terheim to join in on the set. She ended the show with a solo encore of "guliian" . A vocal delight indeed!!
