This was my second time seeing them. The first time since 1989. The 'new' band had the same energy as the original, though hearing some of the PY songs was a little sad. He is still missed. All in all, a great show.

A really nice, nostalgic visit back to the 80's and early 90's with even some new songs from their latest album. They played all the big Mechanics hits, plus a few Collins-era Genesis ones too. It was fun, the audience loved it, and you could tell the musicians were enjoying the experience too. The only negative was the sound system, and because this was my first time at this theater I'm not sure if it was the band's or the native one offered by the venue. I'm going to assume it's the latter because it looked like the band was traveling light (i.e. few instruments and gear, low number of roadies and crew, etc.). But at just over $70 a ticket I'm not complaining. If I had spent more than that, however, I might be bitching. Parking was complimentary and easy in/out.

These guys are so good. A lot of talent in this band. Saw them many many years ago for their Living Years Tour and thought they were great then. Different lineup but just as good. My only complaint is there's not enough local shows to see them again!

Wow, it was GREAT. I usually put in earplugs due to volume, but not for this concert. Pure music, pure vocals, genuine entertainment!! Choice of songs was great from all albums. Watching Mike Rutherford (original member) play was inspiring. The lead singer, WOW, he had full vocals. It was a pleasant surprise when they did some Genesis covers and 1 new song. Great energy and also emotional songs - a good mix. Only downside was the opening act. Very bizarre and strange.

I was surprised how good they were given the somewhat mediocre videos that appeared on the net. Sound quality and singing were outstanding and arrangements were superb. Much better than I remembered them in the 90s in Hamburg. They should have played 'Everybody gets a second chance' though and 'Lay your love on me' by Roachford. Otherwise great show though, which lasted about 95 minutes.

Although I enjoyed the music, it just wasn't the same. The lead singer, Tim Hower, jumped around the stage like a punk rock group, while the other lead singer Andrew Roachford sounded like he wanted to be Billy Ocean

Very entertaining show. Super vocals. Would have been a bit more enjoyable if I knew more of their songs. The Genesis tunes were excellent.

This was the first night of the tour and WOW were they good. Well rehearsed and sounded great. One of the best sounding shows, at The Birchmere, I have ever heard. All songs were highlights. If they come to your area, GO, GO, GO.

Whether you're a M&M fan, a Genesis fan, or both, and you've mostly watched their shows through binoculars in stadiums (stadia?) and arenas, you'd probably get an almighty kick out of seeing this show - as I did - from a nose-hair's length from center-stage at Alexandria VA's Birchmere venue. I'd thought it might be difficult not to focus primarily on the ex-Genesis man but the entire M&M crew contributed significantly to this celebration of the works of both bands. In the intimate environment that is the Birchmere "music hall" each and every performer worked tirelessly to connect with his up-close audience. My wife (normally a genteel soul) is generally somewhat lukewarm re my preference for classic rock but as we exited the venue, and I invited her critique, she preceded ".......fantastic" with language that would do credit to a Navy seaman! Had there been a nearby show the next night we'd unquestionably have BOTH been there! As someone whose first Genesis concert was the celebrated "Gabriel-in-gold-lame-on-a-wire" show at London's Drury Lane theatre, you'll understand that I'm no spring-chicken but this show - this "experience" - induced goose-bumps and moistening eyes over and over again. While Mr Rutherford is, literally, an "Old" Carthusian nowadays - you'd never know it! We heard every M&M hit and some less well known gems, plus a half-dozen Genesis numbers; even a tongue-in-cheek "Can't Dance" samba! Need I say more?

The band was exceptional and played a wide range of selections that really showed the diversity of all members of the group. The lead singers were outstanding, and highlighted themselves and the group. Mike Rutherford and the band payed homage to the history of this group and acknowleged where they came from adding a couple of songs from Genesis. They could have played for another hour ... it was that good! If you are on the fence about purchasing tickets to see them don't it was an exceptional evening.

Took my wife to the show as she wanted to do this for her birthday she is a fan of this band. I know very little about them other than Mike was the guitarist for Genesis. We had excellent seats dead center in the front second seat at The Birchmere. Mike Rutherford and his band is comprised of Stellar musicians this show was worth every penny. The songs from the new album are just excellent his song named in the Living Years was actually very beautiful and moving. They engage the crowd with everyone singing along to their songs it was as if you were at the local pub and they were playing Just For You. This is a group that I will see again no matter where they are locally and yes we are ordering the new album. There's nothing like a group a professional musicians Who come out to play have fun and treat you like you're their best friends. Superb evening at The Birchmere big shout-out to our waitress she was outstanding

Saw M & M in Portsmouth, England 30 years ago. It wasn't a memorable concert. Thus when a friend suggested that we attend this concert I wasn't that enthused. How wrong can you be. The band were tight and musically absolutely brilliant. The song list was a mix of new and old with the odd Genesis song thrown in. There wasn't a dud during the whole concert. Would highly recommend that if you are in the vicinity of a Mike and the Mechanics concert - GO!!

First, nothing like finding that Tickemaster has dropped the price of your ticket by $25 each and there are seats in the rows in front of you still available. As for Mike and the Mechanics, iif you went to hear the new album, you would be happy as the new singers are great, and those songs sounded best even with the horrible acoustics. I blame the sound man here as I was 7th row center and all we heard was boom from the bass and drums. If you expected the original band sound, forget it. They opened with "Get Up", which should have been fantastic but there was no synth sequenced riff like the album, and the current keyboard player couldn't handle any of the prior material, and he was so much lower in the mix, you barely heard him at all-probably a good thing. Most of the original songs depend upon great synth layers, and they were absent. Great guitarist but Mike made him play bass and tried to play lead on too many songs- he's not very good and also couldn't cover the old material, so it really didn't sound like M&The Mechanics. And forget about the 2 Genesis songs, just a bad cover band. With a good sound man, a new keyboard player and letting the new guitarist play all the songs, this could have been a good concert. I blame Mike for these poor decisions.

It was the first time that I have seen Mike and the Mechanics. They were never high on my radar but I'm glad I decided to check them out. As it turned out I really enjoyed all of their music. They played their big hits - Silent Running, The Living Years and of course, All I Need Is A Miracle which got the crowd on its feet. Buckhead Theatre is an awesome venue to see a show. I would definitely go see them again if the opportunity would arise.

Mike and the Mechanisc put on an excellent show. They started on time and played all the hits. Great Mechanics songs from the old days plus new songs from their recent album. The musicianship was very good. They are getting older but they still play very well. There are 2 lead singers, both with strong voices. Andrew Roachford was really strong with Let Me Fly and The Living Years. It s a show you will enjoy, even if you were not a huge fan in the past.

I have been a hardcore Genesis fan my entire life. I have done VIP/Meet/Greets with Steve Hackett and, just two days ago, with Mike and the Mechanics. (Most fans know that Mike is Mike Rutherford of Genesis.) That is the main reason I went. He and the other band members of the Mechanics were very cordial and nice. BUT, of all the Meet/Greets I've done, this one was WAY too rushed. I was only able to spend, literally, about 15 seconds with Mike, et al. And the liaison person said there were no autographs allowed. This is unacceptable for a Meet/Greet, especially for the 200 dollar price tag. I was second in line and noticed after I was done that Mike actually did sign for a few people who were brave enough to ask anyway. But, autographs should be automatically allowed, in my view. By contrast, when I did this at a Hackett show at the same venue in 2016, Hackett spent almost about 5 minutes with each person and signed autos on any two items they brought. And the liaison person took multiple pics of each fan with Hackett, rather than the one or two that each fan got with Rutherford. And there were about the same amount of fans in each case; about 30. That all said, I was happy that he/they played two Genesis songs (and a little of another). And they played most of their own hits too. Overall, they are a very tight band. I've no complaints about the show itself other than I would have liked a couple more Genesis songs. I'd say to go see these guys but get the cheaper tickets. But, if you do decide on the Meet/Greet, just keep all of the above in mind. Maybe if you know all this ahead of time, you won't be disappointed like I was. (Also, there was no swag bag, as there often is for Meet/Greet ticket holders.) (SPOILER ALERT: I will mention the Genesis songs below.)

A great concert in a classic theatre setting. The sound was outstanding. Nice to go to a concert and not spend $100's of $'s to enjoy a good band and concert. I would definitely go back to the Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor for a concert.

Aside from one woman bitchin behind us that this is not what she paid for, and the group in front that wouldn't stop being up and obstructing our view, this was a wonderful show. I'm familiar with Genesis music and they did play some of that, but without having a preconceived idea of what to be listening to, the music and performance was great!

Mike Rutherford and his "Mechanics" gave an outstanding performance. His musicianship along with the rest of the band was shining and superb and highlighted his songwriting skill. They gave a bluesy edge to the melodic setlist that contained some hidden gems as well as the required hits. The crowd was small but well into the music. The cover of Rutherfords/Genisis hit "We Cant Dance" was raw and gritty and blew away the original version, especially Tim Howars vocals. The other vocalist Andrew Roachford was just as amazing and played some Stevie Wonder "Superstition" on keyboards during the encore. The rest of the band was top notch and the sound and energy was fantastic. "Nobodies Perfect" was absolutely perfect and I thought it was the highlight of the show.

I have been listening to Mike + the Mechanics since they began in 1985. I own all of their albums (even though I had to purchase M6, Rewired, The Road and The Hits as imports). The opening act, Daryl Strumner, was OK. He recorded himself on bass, keyboards and drums on his laptop and played 5 instrumentals (a Peter Gabriel cover, a Police cover, a Jeff Beck cover, and two original pieces). I felt bad for Mike + the Mechanics that so few tickets were sold (about 400 in a theater that hold 1,700). But that didn't stop them from giving 100% to the entire performance! The two current singers, Tim Howar and Andrew Roachford, are extremely talented and did a great job! 10 of the songs performed can be found of the newest "Hits" collection. There were also two Genesis covers and a Roachford cover. I very much enjoyed the show and glad I went.

It's 20 years since I last saw them in Edinburgh and even with the re-formed group the performance was memorable and enjoyable. They deserved more people to be there .... but pre concert publicity was severly lacking. Don't miss them if they are in your area.

First off show was to start at 8. 8:15 a guitar player walks on stage, does not give his name, plays 4 songs, leaves. Who the hell is he?? Sorry maybe I should recognize every guitar player in the world by site!! Anyways mike and company graces us with their presence at 9:00. One of the lead singers was extremely over the top in his onstage actions ( look at me I'm great type) overall the audience was given what they came for. Musically a good show. The theatre Queen Elizabeth centre needs to be torn down, 1974 has seen its day, what a dump!!

The sole purpose in attending the show was to hear one song and one song only, "In the Living Years" Had the show been nothing but this song my wife and I would have been very pleased. Instead--very good show, singing, stage presence--which all made for a very enjoyable night--capped off with the song which means so much

The music of Mike & The Mechanics is the soundtrack to a generation. These albums inspired many of my friends, informed our social conscience, and provided a release for some of the angst of our generation and an outlet for the high points in our lives as well. Hearing them performed live and seeing how much enjoyment the band got out of performing them in front of an audience was a truly rewarding experience. While I was disappointed that Paul Carrack, one of the world's greatest singing voices, would not be there, the two current vocalists will certainly make you forget that fact real quickly. Their handling of everything from the first hits to some Genesis songs to tracks from their more recent release The Road was truly first rate. They have phenomenal voices and are a fantastic addition to the group. I wish they would drop "Seeing Is Believing" from the setlist, though. The theme that those who believe in anything are truly extremists is offensive. There are extremists out there in every walk of life, from scientists to aetheists to religious people and everywhere in between. To group believers in Jesus with the mujahedin is offensive and ignorant of the vast differences in the two. If that's the only complaint I have about the concert, then they've truly done a phenomenal job. This was definitely one of the most enjoyable concerts I've ever been to. Bravo!

It was their first tour stop & Mike & the Mechanics put on a great show at the Birchmere! Wow, our first time at the Birchmere and we have to ask ourselves, "why did it take so long for us to check this place out?" There wasn't a bad seat in the house and the sound was perfect! We were so close to the stage that we could touch the band. Our favorite songs, "Living Years", "All I need is a Miracle," you name it...it brought back great memories. The opening act, "Steve Poltz" was very entertaining and was a great set-up for the main event. If you want to see a performance up close and personal, the Birchmere is your next venue.
