The San Jose Mariachi Festival Concert Tribute to Cesar Chavez was not only fun but was for such a worthy cause! Little Joe y la Famila band was first to play. I enjoyed their music. They were very entertaining. The performance of the Los Lobos band was incredible. Their versatility from playing old familiar Mexican songs to rock music was awesome. Their energy was infectious. You truly had to hold back from getting out of your seat and dancing. Dave Hidalgo mesmerized me with his musical talent. Not only with his extraordinary talent in playing several musical instruments but his voice is just as beautiful. The entire band has unbelievably talented. When Santana came on stage it was Cesar Rosas that played his guitar surprisingly better than Santana. My husband and I enjoyed this concert immensely. He was already a fan of both Los Lobos and Little Joe y la Familia, We are both fans of Santana s. All in all it was an amazing night both musically and to be a part of this Tribute to honor the Great Cesar Chavez and his cause!

As a tribute to the life and legacy of Cesar Chavez, the event was a an expression of gratitude, love and devotion. Each musical performer brought their own special gifts to the memorable gathering. Both young and old kids witnessed a moving and melodius affirmation to the joy of life and unity of purpose. Little Joe started the festivities, Los Lobos gathered momentum and Carlos revealed his soul. I remember listening to him practice in the mission when we were kids. We parked outside the garage on our bikes and enjoyed the free concert. To reflect on those days and see where we all are now makes me thankful for the gift we share called life. The jam when Carlos and Los Lobos started playing together was essentially the joining , on a spiritual level, of each of the members present. The spirit moved within us. Joyful tears were shed.

The show was great w/Little Joe and the familia, then Los Lobos were awesome, Santana was okay, but you couldn't really hear him play his guitar since there so many others playing theirs onstage....and then at the end ...it was just banging....screaming guitars jam which turned me off...with Santana and Los Lobos.

The show was good. however, Santana played maybe 4 sets -songs. i think for he being the "bill" than i would have liked to hear him play more songs. Was he late? was that the plan for him to only play for a short period? Do not know, but i must say what i heard was GREAT!!

I've been a Santana fan since the free concerts in Golden Gate Park so of course when I saw the ad promoting Santana, Los Lobos and Little Joe y la familia I immediately purchased tickets. Then yesterday I almost gave them away because my daughter was sick, I had to work the next day blah blah blah... then I got a second wind and decided to go.... thank God I did the show was Fanfrickentastic !!!!!!! This wasn't your typical concert it was the most amazing jam session I've ever seen in my life. Carlos and Los Lobos were spontaneous and so connected, it was as if they had performed together for years. It was great to hear their original music and also a touch of Ritchie Valens, Hendrix and other classics. I will never forget this evening because Carlos was AMAZING and in top form.

Los Lobos is always an amazing band to experience live. They are truly the most talented musicians working today. I think the fans who have followed their career over the years and have had the privilege of seeing them perform live realize what an amazing band they are. Every time I see Los Lobos I am always blown away at their musicianship, their voices and how they navigate through different genre's and styles of music. Their versatility showcases their talent and what fanatstic musicians they are.My only complaint about this concert is how it was billed with the thought that Santana was also perfoming as a solo act. He was basically "showcased" as a guest with Los Lobos. I purchased these tickets because I was taking my niece to see Santana perform..not as a guest of another band however, it was billed as Santana..which eludes to the fact of The Band Santana..not Carlos Santana ..guest of Los Lobos.

Last night was off the charts Mexican Magic at its best. All the bands performed their hearts out and my friends and I loved every minute. From the begining with Little Joe signing his classic old school hits to the amazing guitar playing of Los Lobos. Los Lobos took the evening to a new level of musical magic. They pour their hearts into their singing and playing and we were swept off our seats and on to our feet, dancing to their heated latin rhythems. When Carlos Santana joined them on stage, the music went through the roof. This was the highlight of the evening and we were taken to heavens. These masters of latin rock gave us a show to remember for a life time.

The accoustics put out by this group are unbelieveable. They were true to their reputation and rocked hard with Carlos Santana. The vocals were moving. The only thing missing was the ability to dance. There was an open area where couples went to dance only to be asked to sit down. Too bad!!! I would recommend this concert to anyone who enjoys a good jam!!! MAC

A tribute to Cesar Chavez, featuring Little Joe, Los Lobos, and Carlos Santa was a benefitting tribute to a remarkable man. Little Joe was absolutely first class not just in his music but also his whole persona. Both renedentions of America the Beatiful and Rags to Riches which he dedicated to the troops and his wife were unforgetable. He truly made everyone both spanish speaking and those who do not feel at ease with his music. Los Lobos, the band from East LA, gentlemen all. Thier guitar playing was absolutely fenominal and their cross over btween latina and rock was awsome. Carlos Santana was his typical self, a master of the guitar, and his lead into La Bamba had the audiance yelling for more. Cesar would have been proud, and I am sure his family felt the same way, for they were also in attendance.

Great evening of music at the HP Pavilion last night. Little Joe Y La Familia opened and they were terrific. This was an evening to honor the memory of César Chávez , the man who organized the farm workers of California. Many of the songs were sung in Spanish but with Little Joe, he was so expressive, you knew what he was singing about even if you were' non habla espanol' like me. Los Lobos came on next and first played some traditional mariachi music and then tore the place up with their own music. They are a tight band and always deliver the goods. Then the amazing Carlos Santana joined them and together they blew the lights out. Carlos' guitar was sweet and clear as ever and he can play like no one else can. They came back for an encore and played the Jimi Hendrix song, 'Are You Experienced' It was very clear that the musicians enjoyed playing with one another and it was a great music experience for all. People were dancing in their seats.

We went to see Los Lobos in August in an outdoor garden (Atlanta Botanical Garden) that was the size of someone's big backyard. Got to walk right up to the stage and watch anytime I wanted, Their musicianship is so seamless, so fluid, that it appears effortless to them. For a band with three six-string guitars and a bass playing, they have a way of weaving the guitar sounds into a single fabric, so that you are not overwhelmed by the sound, like in some other guitar bands where each player wills their individual sounds to be heard above the others. Instead, one is amazed by the tightness and complexity.of the sound. As in any live show, Los Lobos is not shy about expressing their admiration of other bands, or citing their musical influences by playing covers versions of well-known and classic songs. It's not as if these guys need material to fill up a set list...It's simply out of pure respect and class...oh yeah, to have fun doing it, too.. To hear Allman Brothers Band music in the middle of Atlanta under open skies, played in homage by one of the greatest bands in rock music, was a rare moment to savor. After the show, the band said that they were going to sit at a table and sign autographs or just talk. We thought that there was going to be a big rush of people, but we ended up fourth in line and had a great time talking with the band. My wife invited them to dinner to which David Hidalgo asked if we could make some fried bologna with an egg in the middle. We had a great time. Never miss this band!

Los Lobos had its moments--the music making it hard to sit still. But there were a lot more moments of pleasant, forgettable music. Los Lobos did a great job. Played the songs I wanted to hear right after I thought about those songs which is fun when it happens. The sound guy seemed to have it set up for the Georgia Dome or Phillips Arena, a large space with some acoustic qualities. Outside in the garden, it was just loud and distorted, but not in a good way. We left early because it was making our ears hurt.

Really looked forward to this concert as I have been a fan for many years- as they opened it was obvious the sound was way off with the vocals dominating while guitars were barely even heard- as the concert went on the soundman seemed to at least equilize the mix but the volume was underwhelming- the band was asking for more commitment from the crowd probably without realizing that the volume was probably at a 5-6. During 'Don't Worry Baby' which should kill I had to lean back and ask the people behind me to stop talking so I could hear better and I was probably 15 yards behind the sound board. I thought Los Lobos really worked hard to give a good show and would give them a B+, the sound crew gets a C-

One of my favorite bands for many years, and I was excited to finally get a chance to see them live during one of their rare visits to Atlanta. Great set list, including "Will the Wolf Survive," "Kiko and the Lavender Moon," "Shakity Shakity Shakes," "Volver, Volver," and many others. The most versatile band in America, moving from fabulous Tejano to gut-busting rock to blues to R&B, sometimes in a single song. The only reason I rank it with four stars is the ultra laid-back audience, who could only be convinced to get up and boogie during the obligatory "La Bamba" (sort of a case of "oh, yeah, I know THAT song!" by many in the crowd who knew nothing of the band's catalog). Still, a wonderful time was had by all, and the band graciously did a "Meet and Greet" after the show to sign autographs and chat with fans.

They played one of the best shows I've seen andI see them about 20 times a year. They played a great mix of older songs and new ones. Did a great acoustic set also. the only thing I would complain about was the Casino only let them play 75 minutes. If you have a chance to see them don't miss it. Besides their own songs they'll play Hendrix, Allman bro's, Santana etc. There just great Rock N Rollers.

This band has consistently rocked my world for the 20 years I've been seeing them. Only sorry I missed the first 20! This show was super special because they opened by playing a full ACOUSTIC set of traditional folk music (+ some of their own). What a treat! Several tunes off the Kiko & the Lavender Moon release were played, including "Short Side of Nothing", which I haven't heard live in years. 3-song encore was "The Valley", "Politician" (the Cream song I've heard them play before, but this was no doubt a nod to the recently deceased Jack Bruce (RIP Jack, you were one of a kind!) & trying to remember..."Shakin' Shakes"(it was def played, I think 3rd encore song)? Other tunes played: Mas y Mas, I Got Loaded, Bertha, La Pistola & El Corazon, Will the Wolf Survive, Down on the Riverbed. Wish I had kept a set list, but too busy enjoying the music!

Genuine artists. Sincere people. Awesome show. It does not matter how large or small the venue is - if you have a chance to see Lobos, please do and you'll surely thank yourself...in fact, be a hero and buy lots of tickets for all your friends too. Fabulous mix of new with old. It seemed David may have been struggling with a cold but he still sounded fantastic. I've been to probably a dozen shows at the Birchmere over the past couple of years, from Southside Johnny to John Hiatt, and I have never seen everyone dancing in the aisles until Los Lobos came to town. Let's face it -- the Birchmere attracts a rather old, sedate crowd. Yes, they know their music, but they're far too NPR to get up and boogie. Well, when Los Lobos came back for their encore and launched into La Bamba, just about everyone was on their feet. This band from East Los Angeles can still rock. Only complaint? I love the Kiko album, and I know it's the 20th anniversary, but I missed hearing some favorite cuts from other albums.

The show was amazing, Amy Helm was a wonderful opening act (she did a beautiful cover of Moonlight Mile) and Lob Lobos, as usual, played a killer set! Kiko & the Lavender Moon live in it's entirety was impossible for me to pass up! It's one of my favorite albums along with This Time, Colossal Head & Good Morning Aztlán. I've been a fan of the Los Lonely Boys for a very long time. I've been to every concert they've had at the MN Zoo but I think the Aug 2011 concert might be my last. I miss the jam sessions and in all honesty... the good tunes. It's important as a band with a new(ish) album to play the new songs and encourage the crowd to buy it. But when you dedicate 90% of your show to new songs that are only so so, you lose the audience (in my opinion, the new album was thoughtlessly thrown together to fundraise for some of the bands legal troubles). Thank God for Los Lobos coming on stage to save Los Lonely Boys from what I saw as a downward spiral.

Los Lonely Boys opened and were tight, energetic, and fun (even being joined by Rosas and Hildago for a few tunes). Then Lobos came on and suffered with bad sound, suffering vocals (Hildago), sparse vocals (Rosas) and a lack luster one hour set. They even brought Los Lonely Boys back on stage to jam with a couple of winded performances including a seemingly never-ending Little Wing. Of course, the encore was the crowd favorite, over-played La Bamba. Sorry - after almost 30 years of seeing Lobos shows that was my last one.

Los Lobos put on a terrific show, but I paid good money for a front row seat for nothing. After the 5th song, a member of the group encouraged people from the audience to get in the front and dance. Tons of people came up and blocked the viewing of the people in the front row. I couldn't get up because of a medical condition. There were several other people who bought a front row seat for the same reason and were also very disappointed. I'm willing to bet my life Los Lobos gets more energy from having people dance in front of them while they play their great music. Though they should plan ahead and have tickets sold for a dance area so people who buy front row tickets know what they're buying.

Loss Lobos are an excellent group. Enjoyed them at the Sunset Center in Carmel where they rocked the house. Unfortunately at the Thousand Oaks Fred Kavli Theatre, the band seemed to be uncomfortable. and out of sycnic. Probably because the acoustics was horrible. Our first visit to the Parker Playhouse; what a venue! We were lucky enough to have second row tickets. The opening act, the Coppertones was really pretty good, never having heard of them (we're not from FL). Good sound and good music. The Los Lobos came on stage and proceeded to put on a great show. They did a lot of newer stuff (I was hoping for Kiko) and sounded just fine. One encore and they were out of there. Too bad it wasn't a full house because they deserved to have one. It was our second time at a Los Lobos concert and I'd go again in a minute.

I was bummed when Los Lobos took stage at Parker Playhouse & Cesar ( sunglasses guy) was missing...As it turned out, he wasn't missed...The other original guitarist stepped it up & it was game on...I like how the set list is spontaneous...I sat up front so I could hear Hidalgo tell the band "lets play so & so"....The venue was maybe 60% full & only seats 1,100...South Florida fans blow but regardless, these guys are still amazing as always...Hidalgo is a great guitarist that is very under rated...He belongs in that group that includes Neil Young, Santana etc...Don't miss them...

What is there left to say about The Fillmore? It's a great venue. The Los Lobos annual visit was again amazing -- The band likes the place.

This band rocks! Young drummer is a great asset; super concert, great fun; first time we've been in this venue, will definitely go again. dance floor up front does not block the audience view of the band. and this was a great band for people who need to DANCE!!!

They don't hit the high notes like they used to, but Los Lobos still delivers a riveting, fun and danceable concert. Their recent gig at Montbleu Resort Casino in Stateline, NV, was a classic replay of many hits, great pacing, casual interaction with the audience, and the joy of performing. Dance floor empty at start of show, shoulder to shoulder at the end. These guys could play four hours without even touching most of their catalog. They are definitely rock and roll treasures who should be seen at least once, if not repeatedly. Put them on your bucket list and take advantage of the fact that they are always touring.

If you're a fan of Los Lobos I urge you to go see them soon. They are a real treat to see live (it is always worthwhile to see masters work at their craft and these guys are master musicians). Looking at the band and the crowd makes you realize that "Will the Wolf Survive" was many years ago... so enjoy the band and the music while both are still around.

Los Lonley Boys just stole the entire show away...90 min of non stop fabulous screaming guitar work and overall band I think left Los Lobos in the dust!

Los Lonely Boys we're amazing. Very interactive and crazy guitar solos. A lot of people left when Los Lobos came on. We gave them a shot & didn't wanna disrespect them. But we didn't stay the whole time. To be fair we only came for Los Lonley Boys and that was enough for us. Great show! I would rate 5 starts but Los Lobos took that alway. 5 starts for Los Lonley Boys. 3 for Los Lobos.

These guys do a crowd pleasing show. A lot of their hits mixed with (newer?) less well known stuff. Good solid rock and roll entertainment. Smokin' hot guest on squeeze box. Boz Skaggs even dropped in for a couple of songs.

Saw this wonderful band at the Uptown Theater in Napa (an amazing venue in and of itself). These guys are so excellent, even after all these years. Their musicality is superb and the whole place was ablaze with hot latin rock-a-billy music!!! Then they bring out their "friend", Boz Scaggs!! The place went crazy!! He only did a couple of their songs, not his to my knowledge. And all was well with the world!!!

I have started to look for shows elsewhere. The sound for Boz Skaggs was right on, but Los Lobos was muddled, with the instruments to high. This is now 3 out of the last 4.

Personally, this was an eye-opener. I knew of Los Lobos and had some familiarity with their music. But, never before have I seen them in concert. Each member of the band is an "A" musician and as a group, they are A++++!! How lucky I was to see them in an intimate setting where it was possible to see who was doing what as they performed.

Wow! Always been a Los Lobos fan but never got a chance to see them in concert live. This small venue was the perfect experience to have seen them for the first time live! These guys prove while playing and having fun doing equals 40+ years together as a group! YEAH! :)

What can you say? probably one of the best American bands. and when I say American I say North American. Here in California Mexican and Spanish music is just as beautiful and viable as surf music to punk that originated in our Golden State. I have seen Lobos play at least 20 times since the early 1980s when they toured through Sacramento as part the Slash Records tours with X and the Blasters. Unlike other legacy bands, they get better and better with times. like the old blue artists from Chicago and the Delta. Lobos remain national treasures in my opinion. If I won the California Lottery I would hire Los Lobos for a Sacramento area concert and charge a minimal fee that would go to a local charity for the homeless like CAFFE (clothing and food for everyone). The band played two 90 minute sets with a half hour break in between. The performance was phenomenal. Lots of old classics, Cumbias and others. Just an awesome show

The vibe is always positive and the tunes are always on point when Los Lobos plays the Fillmore. They played classics and some of their new tunes. The stage was artfully decorated and they jammed through two encores.

I was so excited before the concert and so disappointed afterwards. Their sound set-up was terrible, humming noise was coming through the speakers when they weren't playing. A guy behind us even yelled to them, "fix the humming". Maybe Los Lobos isn't that well known in this area as they are on the west coast. But when you can't fill half of a 2,500 seat venue, maybe it's time to stop touring with that sound system.

Great show as always with this band. Only setback was absence of Cesar Rosas. He brings a whole different dynamic to the band. I have seen nothing about the reason for his absence before or since. I hope he is still with the band and hasn't quit or is ill. Of course David Hildago can carry a show entirely by himself I just miss what Cesar brings.

We felt like being at a high school band concert. They did not play their top 3 songs including La Bamba or Donna. Played too many English songs, people got up to clap when they sang Spanish songs. Basically they did not play what people wanted to hear.

Second set was much more interesting than first--varied, creative, fun. If you are not going to do La Bamba for us uncool people (yeah, I get more happened), try something unexpected--like "Some Enchanted Evening.'
