Billy Payne played his entire show with 100% dedication and commitment to an audience of about 70 delighted fans at the Birchmere for almost 3 hours. He was gracious, entertaining, fun, self-effacing, and engaging. Alternating between songs, stories, a Q&A session with the audience, and a slide show he played solo, with his drummer, and as a trio. He reviewed the history of his musical career from his first encounter with a piano at age 5 to the present. His band and he put on a great show. Too bad the other 450 seats were empty, but he did not seem to notice and those of us who were there were bowled over and did not mind the opportunity to have an evening in Billy Payne's living room.
