The type of band that truly deserve a Grammy. They are even more amazing live. Great show and great audience interaction. Such talented and humble musicians.

This was one of the most brilliant performances of my time. 7 Musicians with an enormous individual dedication to their craft. Any one of them had the skill and passion to hold the stage on their own. The vocalists had a stunning harmony, and you could tell they believed not just in every note but in every word. The guitarists took a back stage to others for most of it, but when they had a chance to shine you saw their talent. The trumpet player often took his left hand off the horn, which was slightly disappointing just from a technique stand point. But you can't blame him too much once you have heard his sound. When he needed to get a crisp tone, you heard it. And you could feel the bari players excitement in every note. These two guys knew when to hold back but they worked wonders when they were let off the chain. The bass player actually fingered every chord instead of just the notes themselves. It was almost as if even though he knew what line he needed to play, he kept his hand so he could change it up whenever he wanted. And the drummer, well I don't know enough to judge a drummer but the meter changed more times than I could count and it was damn impressive. None of them ever overpowered one another. There was a beautiful balance of sound throughout the stage. You could tell that this wasn't about one person shining, it was about a group of people coming together to make music. And boy did they do such a thing. This is the type of group that modern ears miss because they don't always hit the main stream. But it is something everyone should hear, because it shows you what happens when talent meets time. Meaning that there has undoubtably been a ton of time that was put into the dynamic that these guys have with each other. I've never seen them before this week (I saw them twice that week), but I will be tracking them for as long as they play NYC. See them now, because they won't be playing small venues for long.
