The Ballroom thieves simply killed it .. They play hard and have a blast doing so They mix old and new songs beautifully and as a group are so tight ... I told someone that the Martin, Calin and Devin's harmony's are so good you would think they were siblings One of the best shows I have seen in ages

The Ballroom Thieves are one of my favorite local bands to see live. This was my 6th show of theirs in a year, and every time I see them it's a fun show. The Sinclair is an amazing venue. Anywhere you stand you have a great view of the stage and the sound is perfect. The drinks are good and there is a bar convenient to anywhere you are standing for the show. I also really enjoyed the opening bands. Tigerman Woah were really fun live and I found myself dancing to their music! The Ghost of Paul Revere was an interesting choice to follow Tigerman Woah and I think I would have enjoyed them more if the two bands weren't so different. Overall awesome! I highly recommend seeing The Ballroom Thieves whenever they come to your area.

This show was incredible! They were accompanied by the Maine Youth Rock Orchestra, which was a special treat. Very intimate venue at the Port City Music Hall.

So excited for Ballroom Thieves. Didn't know they were playing WITH the orchestra the entire time. I was not aware that this was a fundraiser/silent auction for the orchestra. Thieves played only songs from new album--no favorites. Their amazing harmonies were drowned out practically by orchestra. And it was incredibly short. Couldn't believe it was over after 7 songs. So disappointed.

The Ballroom Thieves packed the house at Great Scott both Friday & Saturday. I was fortunate to be at the Friday night show. The Thieves never disappoint. You can't pigeonhole this band into just the folk rock category. Their music straddles the boundaries of rock and blues with some lyrical ballads thrown in for good measure. Their sound is immense for a three piece band and they make the most of the three voices with beautiful harmonies their hallmark. This was the 7th time I've seen the band perform live--and I infact discovered them for the first time at this very venue three years ago. I've been a firm fan ever since. Callie Peters joined the band two years ago and I think she was a fantastic add. I really enjoy her performance of "Bury me Smiling." I heard her sing it the first time at the "Folk the Cold" show in February at The Sinclair. I enjoyed it even more in this intimate setting. She has the most beautiful lilting voice that is redolent to a Patsy Cline or a Norah Jones. I'd like to see the band feature her more on lead vocals. Martin Early is amazing as lead vocalist/guitarist. He has a passionate voice that is perfect for the emotional content of his lyrics. I only wish that he would engage with the crowd more rather than appearing so introverted. The percussionist and supporting vocals from Devin Mauch are always fantastic and so perfectly complement the voices of Martin and Callie that this trio seems to have been made to sing together. I highly recommend their new album and suggest you catch them live if you get the opportunity. I'd have given this show 5 stars if not for the band that preceeded them on the bill. They were horrible. Friends of the Thieves called "Longtime" took the stage before the Thieves. I can't describe their music because I would not even call it music. It was loud and it hurt everyone's ears. It was difficult in the small space to find a place to move to to escape the pain it caused. They are the perfect example of why you do not have friends open for you. They aren't always good. It was completely the wrong opener for fans of beautiful harmonizing melodic music. The best I can say is that the bass player was good, even if the music played was monotonous, and the lead singer is not a bad guitar player--but he should never be the front man of a band. Martin from the Thieves said that this band has only been playing together for 6 months--and I defintely believe that. They've got a long way to go if they are going to be a band anyone wants to see on purpose. I frankly will avoid any show that has them on the bill. Longtime was sandwiched in between the Thieves and a solo acoustic perfromance from Haunt the House's singer Will Houlihan. Will was a quiet and unassuming countenance on stage. He has the MOST beautiful voice. And he has the whistling skills of a songbird. Haunt the House, which hails from Charleston, RI, will be playing at Newport Folk Festival and is well worth hearing. Having "Longtime's" disonnance featured between two beautiful sounding peformances really was a poor fit. Longtime must have a really strong friendship with the band to have been afforded this position which was so undeserved in this listeners opinion. While I applaud the Thieves loyalty to a friend, they did the audience no favors to subject us to them.

Loved Darlingside and Tall Heights but the mixing was awful. Never heard the cello or the woman from Tall Heights. Darlingside were wonderful but would have been better if they had enough mics. I will come again and hope for better.

The dynamics of these 3 bands is heavily weighted in the ability to listen and fall into perfect timing on each lift and pause. They all played together on and off throughout the night, as friends would, and the sound (other than Darlingside's) was phenomenal. kudos to the sound and stage guys for constantly swapping out instruments and mics throughout the night. And the encore of Eddie Vedder's Hard Sun with all three bands was powerful!

The TallRoomSide family is full of extremely talented, humorous, and kindhearted individuals. Never do you feel more like a partner in the music experience than with these three bands. They always take care to address the crowd, crack a few witty jokes, introduce each band member to their audience, and are always available to chat after the show. They love hugs and kisses and aren't afraid to show it on stage. And did I mention that the music they play is phenomenal? These kids are going somewhere. Don't miss an opportunity to see them live. And you'd be crazy not to own an album or two.

Darlingside, Tall Heights and the Ballroom Thieves were all outstanding, but Callie Peters, cellist with the Ballroom Thieves literally stole the show with her incredible rendition of "Bury Me Smiling", written by Martin Earley and arranged by BERKLEE graduate Peters. Her voice, phrasing and timing were immaculate and without a doubt this song is a show stopping hit. Callie graciously accepted the longest and most enthusiastic applause on a night where the crowd thoroughly enjoyed every tune the three bands expertly smithed.

Listening to the ballroom thieves on iTunes, soundcloud, in any headphones really, does not do this band justice. The music in their love performance physically hits and completely surrounds you. Not to mention they have awesome stage presence.

I've been going to Ballroom Thieves shows for several years now and they never disappoint! Comprised of strings, percussion, and a cello, the Thieves wed lyrics cringe-worthy of bitter-sweet nostalgia and rowdy boldness with instrumentals that leave everyone exhausted from stomping along. This event featured many new songs off their soon-to-be-released full-length album (2 EPs were released already), a jaw-dropping solo from their new cellist, and a cathartic crowd-pleasing finisher sung acoustically in the middle of the venue floor. Their roughly hour-long set was filled with extremely positive feedback and an incredible atmosphere that always dwarfs whoever takes the stage before and after them.

This was my third time seeing the Ballroom Thieves and they are always awesome!! They have become my favorite band to see live. And this venue was my favorite so far. It was a nice small size but not too small, and it has 3 bars including one upstairs. We had a great view and it seemed like pretty much everyone did. And the patio to have dinner and drinks before was amazing too! A perfect night with good food & sangria, and awesome music in a great venue.

TOtally worth going to with kids from 0 to about 7. Realyl well done, relaxed, laid back, great that they had My Gym there for the kids to add to the activities for them in addition to dancing. We would definitely do this again. Great for peopel who are normally averse to "kid stuff"!

Their set was awesome. They played from both their old and new CD, and got down into the crowd for the last song. We're going to see them again in November.

Friday 04October2013, Harvard Square's The Sinclair, standing room only sell out crowd of 500... Turning concert going hopefuls away at the door, the Ballroom Thieves released their new self-titled EP and basically stole their own show. With countless loyal fans singing along to older, newer and brand new songs, tunesmiths Martin, Devin and Callie definitely gave Boston fans a night to remember.
