Being my first time to this venue, I was just in awe. What a beautiful open air setting for a concert or any sporting contest. The entertainment was on time and exceptional. Summing up or concluding the festival with Toby Keith on stage was frosting on the cake. The only downfall was the 10 dollar pasture parking and long walk.

The venue was awesome and all the performers were great! I loved being able to see 4 top country artists without having to sit in a lawn chair out in the middle of a field like country stampede. I will definitely be going again!

Flatlands Fest tried to bring a great collection of country music act to Kansas city which is great! However for concerts like this I feel like the entire place should not be reserved seating. Let people who come early and see the opening acts be rewarded with getting good seats! It will be better for the artists who are preforming and the people there to see them. Its okay to still have a VIP section or some reserved seating for big money concert ticket holders but you don't need to reserve the entire stadium. Also you don't need to put section signs 12ft high right in front of the stage. You can put that info on the floor and have ushers help find sections. Other than that the music as good, the facility is really nice and a fun place to be, and it was a good time. I didn't see any of the campsites so I don't know how that went at all but it was a good location for me to drive to.

The line up was great. The venue is nice. The sound was okay, too loud with most acts. The bigger the star , the louder the speakers, which gave a muffled sound, could not understand the words. For a Festival it could have had more vendors. I realize it is the first year so maybe the kinks could get worked out, get more venders, lower price seats would also fill up the place. Also, need bigger or more screens for viewing.

sound sucked until Darius came out. Why do they not have sound checks during the show. Rodney's set was horrible do to the sound. You could not understand him. So 2 out of 6 acts were great, but the 4 others sucked even though it was not their fault.

I would not buy VIP passes again to any event at sporting kc park. It was not what I expected the VIP to be. I wasn't told I needed the blue and purple wristbands even though my ticket said I was VIP. You had to walk all the way to the boulevard bar just to get your drinks and the first time I tried they said I couldn't get through. I had a lot of questions on what to do and where to go and the staff didn't know anything. I was given the run around for about 2 hours and very very unorganized. I will NOT buy VIP passes ever again. Waste of money and totally not worth the money that I spent on VIP.

My only real complaint was the sound. It seemed to echo a bit because of all the concrete and metal. The echo seemed to disappear when Darius and Luke Bryan played. I assume that's because more people were in the stadium.

One thing I didn't like was it was WAY too Loud. They are hard to understand when it is that loud plus they are damaging hearing. I wore ear plugs and it was so much better. The first two warm up bands were at the right volume. I would like to see Zach Brown Band, Kenny Chesney, LoCash Cowboy and Kelly Clarkson next year to name a few. I thought you had a great mix of entertainment. Beer was too expensive, but I guess that keeps everyone from getting smashed. LOL

We really did not know what to expect with 20 hours of country music over a two day period. It was amazing! The venue, Sporting Park, is beautiful. The sound system was great. The 12 acts were phenomenal. We are looking forward to next year. Thank you to Sporting Park, all the singers and musicians, especially Miranda Lambert, Kellie Pickler, Toby Keith, Luke Bryan, Darius Rucker, JT Hodges and Travis Marvin. Storme Warren as MC did an excellent job.

The artist lineup was outstanding, but my thought is: was it because this was the first year for the Flatlands Festival? accommodations were nice for VIP. The food was horrible compared to the Country Stampede in Manhattan KS that we attend every year. For the price we paid for our tickets, the food needs to be better. Not sure we will attend again.

I only had tickets for the Friday night, but the show was wonderful. One of the ladies with us had broke her leg and was on crutches. The ones working the gate were great with helping us get her a wheelchair. That helped us all so much. We had a great man take us from our parking spot right to the gate and then he came back and got us when the concert was over to take us back to our car. Such a HUGE help to all of us! I would highly recommend this this festival and I look forward to it coming back in 2014!

Venue was nice, but not set up well for a music festival. Staff had no idea what was going on. Wristband program was not clear and we were redirected several time to get new ones. Then, after paying $10 for a beer, the bartender spilt the whole thing on me. I would not go back to this festival. The wait between bands was way too long, and the shows started way to early for a work day. The first four acts performed to an empty stadium making their performances less enjoyable for those of that were there. The show put on by Luke Bryan, Darius Rucker, Rodney Atkins, Thompson square and Kevin fowler was amazing! Very entertaining, lots of fun, not a bad moment! We had a awesome time and would definitely see these artists again.

Loved it , was the best birthday I've had. Miranda lambert and Toby Keith were awesome , loved Darius Rucker and Luke Bryan , drinks were expensive only bad part was bottled water was 4.50 and red bulls were 4.00$ so I don't understand why water was more expensive than red bull.

The performers and the venue were great! The only change I would make is: the stage seemed tucked so far back. It would be nice if it had a runway so the groups could interact more and be more visible . Also, I have attended Sporting KC soccer games and their video screens are fantastic so it would be nice if those would have been used instead of the smaller screens.

Enjoyed most everything about the two-day event. Overall, the lineup of artists was very good. This reminded me of attending the old Summer Jam concerts in the late '70s at Arrowhead. Sporting Park is a fantastic venue to hold such an event - this was our first time inside that stadium. The folks working the event were wonderful! Spent extra $$ to get seats near the stage. That was well worth it. Late Saturday night, there were some drunks just out of control. While that was disappointing, it certainly didn't spoil the time we had. Hope this festival comes back in '14.

The line up was great. I wish we would have been able to get access to the floor and the sound was way better there. They let everyone down on Saturday and it was a blast. The seats on the side didn't have the same affect as being on the floor even if you were all the way in the back. Enjoyed the smaller acts on the outside stage. I loved the fact you could come and go so you could go to your car and get cheaper eats and drinks:)

We were unable to understand the words being sung while sitting in our seats in section 104. They were not limiting access to the floor (luckily) and we were able to understand the songs better down there. The sound was not good at all from any location. MAJORLY DISSAPONTING!

This venue is beautiful the staff is friendly and the performers were awesome for a festival. We had actual seats in the stands and the sound was HORRIBLE. There was really bad echo and feedback for almost every song, for some reason the female performers were the hardest to hear and had the most "pitchy echo". I would reccommend this festival for the atmosphere and fun,but if you are going to actually enjoy good live music, then this is NOT the venue for you.

I really loved the idea of the country music fest and all the performers that were chosen but the acoustics were terrible, the women performers were worse than the men I am guessing because of the high pitch. I will not go back to see a concert at Sporting Park, we were warned from others about acoustics but really wanted to see all the performers and decided to take a chance... Soccer is perfect at Sporting park but music was terrible!!!

Flatlands was so awesome. The stadium was nice. The only thing I wished they would do different is to make the stage bigger because the artist did not have very much room to move around they needed to make the stage have a t like Kenny Chesney and most artist have now a day. They also need to have better quality screens/bigger screens. Really like the laminated tickets where you were able to go in and out of the venue. The security was 100 times better than Arrowhead at Kenny Chesney 2013 tour. You did not have to worry about getting beer thrown on you and security not doing any thing about it. They had wrist band in order for you to have a drink alcohol. They even had alcohol patrol. They should have a better advertisement for the free connect was not inside the stadium. They also should not have advertised it at first as a 3 day concert and then back it off to 2 days. They parking should of been clear. We should not of had to walked the distance that we had to. The parked us clear in the grass across at KC speedway with not shuttle options like it said on website. Better lightening need for general admission parking lot. Was not supposed to be charged for parking in grass according to Sporting KC workers. Toby Keith was so much improved since the last time I saw him. He pulled 4 military people up on stage when he song will put a boot in your a** it the American way. Luke Bryan was AWSOME. He was shaking his money maker. This is what you would expect from a Luke Bryan Concert. Darius Rucker was super good he sang a lot of his country songs with a lot Hooty songs. Kelly Plicker was so awesome she even jumped down off the stage and joined the crowded. Thompson Square was awesome it seemed like sporting park need to work on their mixing better. I love Thompson Square and I know they do a great job because I have seen them before in concert. Love and Theft was awesome Eric came out in a Sporting Park jersey. They sound like they did on CD. The only one that did not seam as good as I have seen her before was Miranda Lambert. When she was with Kenny Chesney a few years ago she was her Miranda self but it seem like she was burnt out. Like she need to have a break. T-Mav was awesome I really hope that soon get his footing in Nashville.

Overall acceptable........Thursday's event and venue was okay at best. Charlie Daniels was great as always! Standing on the concrete for 5 hours was disappointing. Not advertised as such! Friday and Saturday's venue is awesome. Sporting Park is a great place for a concert. The entertainment makes the difference......nothing over the top just flat good. Darius Rucker and Toby were our favorites! We would recommend and consider going again should the event be spelled out clearer!!!!

Saturday night was supposed to be so great. Enjoyed parking lot party with new friends. Parking attendants did a fantastic job parking vehicles in the grass. Then we went inside. Hubby has huge crush on Kelly Pickler. We could not understand one word of the songs she sang. Unfortunatley this carried on during Miranda too. The sound system was AWFUL. And where were the food venders? Hotdogs, pretzles, popcorn and nachos? Really that's it? Sporting Park may be a wonderful venue for a soccer match, but we will NEVER spend hard earned money for a concert held there again. And over an hour to get Toby on stage? We left. At least when we were outside the stadium in our car waiting for the light to change we could understand the lyrics to Toby's song he was signing. I think the best seat in the house would have been in the parking lot at Nebraska Furniture Mart.

Love & Theft, Miranda Lambert and Toby were great, but I could not understand Kelly Pickler at all - the acoustics for her, and Miranda to a lesser degree but some, were horrible for female voices. I couldn't make out her lyrics or what she was saying when she spoke. I think the tickets were overpriced and parking in the grass covered all the cars with thick dust. The arena is nice, but I think I will stick to soccer games.

I think Darius Rucker was the best as was Rodney Atkins. My wife thought Luke Bryan was awesome...I think he ought to take lessons from Darius and come back down to Earth. The biggest complaint was the seating was jacked up and lots of seating disappeared so people were showing up without seats. I called back unfortunately as they promised an upgrade due to the seats gone but and they moved me over a few seats wheras the folks who didnt call got moved to the better seats. All in all a great concert but seat mgmt was lacking...also lots of people who didnt pay for floor seating somehow ended up on the floor.

Our tickets were on the floor just to the left of the stage. The sound was horrible and many times the music overpowered the artist. I was disappointed that I spent over 400.00 on tickets for my daughter for her 19th birthday only to have the sound be horrible. You couldn't hear and understand Kellie Pickler, Miranda's sound was a little better but still not good. Toby's sound had so much treble in it it was almost ear piercing at times. If you were right in fromt of the stage, it was better but anyting off to the side from there was horrible. Very disappointed I spent the money on it. I don't think Sporting Park is meant for concerts. I've heard these artists at Cricket Wireless and Sprint Center and the sound was awesome so the overall experience was much better.

The concert was absolutely fantastic! Spent all day there and loved all of the acts and the venue (Sporting Park). The only issue we had was with the food; mid-afternoon we purchased a hot dog with fries, a cheeseburger with fries, and 2 drinks that came to about $30 (which is expected at event prices). The hot dog and cheeseburger were both stone cold. I actually had to send the first burger back because the bun was rock hard, and that was we before I knew the food was cold - otherwise I would have sent everything back. It's obviously not the event organizer's fault, just the way the food service employees were serving the food when business was slow - but at the prices that are charged at events like this, I would expect the food to at least be luke warm. The food we purchased for dinner was much better. Still, great music though!!!!!

We had a wonderful time at the Flatlands festival. We had purchased tickets and then won VIP upgrades from the venue. The line up was very enjoyable! Cant wait to go again next year! Couple items to mention -- logistics of getting all the different wristbands on Friday was a bit cumbersome. Seemed as though the different groups within the staff didnt communicate well so no one really knew exactly what was going on. Saturday was better. Same thing with people having access to the VIP seating when those were not their seats. Stadium staff didnt handle it too well on Friday night so we had a lot of VERY drunk people crowding in the front few rows that didnt have tickets in those areas. Saturday night was better, but still frustrating to constantly kick people out of your seats each time you came back to them. The bar staff in the Boulevard Club was top notch! Catering -- well, not so much. The meal that came with the VIP pass on Friday night in the Boulevard Club was average at best (we heard the meal for the suite VIP passes was fantastic) The Saturday night dinner was almost inedible! EVERYTHING was cold and basically raw. Not sure why the chef sent out cold broiled potato chunks, cold fried chicken, cold/raw green beans...it was very disappointing!! Hopefully they get the kinks worked out for that next year!

I purchased two tickets for the VIP experience and was privy to the Boulevard Club, the free meal, the 5 free drinks, the private air conditioned bathrooms, the VIP parking, and of course - the AMAZING views!! Cons: ~ 5 free drinks per ticket, per day should be 5 free drinks. The vendors "charged" us two punches for some of the drinks because, it was a $14 drink, with a commemorative cup ... they also assured us that the refills would only be one punch. Turns out, the refill being one punch was only for two types of drinks, not any drink. So when I decided I didn't want the Blue Hell and ordered a tequila sunrise in my fancy cup, I was charged two more punches. Kinda lame. Also - there were vendors walking around the VIP section with various beverages, however, they weren't able to punch our VIP pass and give it to us for free or give us the free water - we had to go alllll the way up to the club for that .... well played, boulevard club ;) ~ There was no easy access to the Boulevard club, we had to walk through the sea of standing room only GA people, who were unwilling to move, and were convinced we were secretly trying to sneak to the front of the GA standing section, when in reality, we were just trying to get back to our seats. Gotta be honest, I would have rather gone in a porta-potty that was placed in the VIP section instead of going through the GA sea! I almost think it would have been better if they would have flipped the stage to be on the Boulevard Club end of the arena - that way the VIP access is already on that side of the field. ~ At the tail end of night two, they finally put staff at the end of the aisles to stop people who were only supposed to be allowed to have floor access from creeping up and taking our seats every time we got up for anything. It was a little ridiculous - we had a half open row behind us, and there were people who had floor access in the seats, and they literally argued with the seat holders when they got there, telling them they could just squeeze in - pretty ballsey. Not only that, but the staff were good about allowing us to sneak in the aisle for a quick picture and return to our seats - people abused it though, and again, people with floor access only were lingering for the duration of the show (until they were pushed back), from the standpoint of someone who paid way more money to have a better view and be less crowded, it was frustrating. Again, the staff would eventually bump them back though, so nothing got too crazy. ~ Smoking. There were crew up front smoking as well as random patrons who would light up. You could smell it and it just lingered. I did tell an employee when I was able to see who was smoking and they went over and addressed it right away though! Still wish smokers would be a little more respectful - just because there isn't a roof on the facility, doesn't mean we can't smell it. Pros: ~ The free meal was great, the staff were exceptionally courteous, there wasn't much of a wait at all, and they allowed us to come back for seconds if we wanted. One trip was enough for this girl, but if they do the Mac & Cheese again ...you would be stupid to let it pass you by. Everything was made from scratch and it was phenomenal. ~ Speaking of Boulevard club - it was nice! Beautiful, open concept - clean bathrooms, again, courteous staff who were always cleaning, smiling and willing to help in any way they could. There is even a Sprint charging station which was nice to power up the old smart phone in between shows. Don't forget about the jumbo trons - so even when you're away from the action, it doesn't feel like you're missing out. The weather was perfect, but an escape to air conditioned bathrooms might have been nice if we were amidst a heat wave! ~ Views! Have you seen Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert, Kellie Pickler, Thompson Square, Rodney Atkins, Love and Theft and Toby Keith from the 8th row?! It was amazing!! ~ Performances! Every artist played a nice, long concert - and it didn't feel like any of them were running late - maybe Toby was, but Miranda did a couple extra songs and it was fine. Luke Bryan definitely stole the weekend for me, it was TRULY an amazing performance. Everyone worked the crowd and had a lot of fun with it, it seemed like the artists wanted to be there, which was nice. ~ We stayed at the hotel directly across the street and that was a smart move. I wouldn't have wanted to mess with parking and it was nice to not have to worry about walking to my car after the concerts ... plus, I figure us not parking left an open spot for the next guy! ~ Location - the complex is BEAUTIFUL and is smack dab in the middle of shopping, hotels, dining, and has easy interstate access! I would hope they would NEVER move the location... Bottom line - this was the first year of the Flatlands Festival and it was amazing, I'm sure they will tweak parts to improve it next year, there is always a learning curve and I felt like the staff adjusted pretty well given the fact that no one is perfect and people will always push the rules.
