This concert was one of the best I've seen yet. Noam is an incredible musician with a great sense of humor. The show had the audience laughing one moment and near tears the next. Noam Pikelny is the epitome of the word "performer." I wish I could go back and relive it.

Excellent Noam Pikelny show. The Carnegie Lecture Hall is a nice venue for acoustic music. Not the typical Pittsburgh audience were talking and noise is the norm. Noam even commented on the silence between his songs as he was switching instruments. Noam displayed his usual self confidence and 5 string banjo mastery. Too bad there were not more people to enjoy this great show.

This is the second time I've seen Noam's band play and once again they didn't disappoint. Everyone in the band is a top-notch player. Noam absolutely does not come off as 'this is my band so I want all the attention on me'. Instead, every band member comes off as a great player, each making contributions to the playlist. This band is entertaining in every possible way. If you get the chance, don't miss them.

I'm a longtime fan of bluegrass music, but this was a lackluster performance. Nothing bad, but nothing exciting either. The house definitely didn't rock the way it did when the Steep Canyon Rangers played there several months back.

Noam & Friends put on a fantastic show of technical and musical mastery of bluegrass music. Their professionalism and musicianship was a delight to witness. The individual playing by each of the five musicians was some of the best playing one could ever hope to hear. They pretty much stuck to bluegrass music at this show and did justice to every tune. This was a cut above the normal quality of bluegrass performance, something to experience and remember.

Pikelny, Sutton, Bulla, Bales & Cobb were a real treat for those who love bluegrass. Each a great talent in their own right treated the audience to a non-stop performance with plenty of opportunites to showcase their abilities. Technically sound for sure they went way beyond and brought out the true soul of bluegrass.

An amazing event, as a tour-de-force. I'm not a big blues grass fan (my wife is), but I could listen to this level of musicianship all day long.

This event was a birthday gift for my husband - who loves bluegrass - and I enjoyed it just as much.I know all the musicians play with other bands but only one was introduced and mentioned he was a member of Alison Krauss and Union Station - it would have been nice to know who the other musicians play with on a regular basis. They said they only get together when they on break from their other bands, so it was a real treat to hear these fine musicians play together!

Like some of folks in the (mostly packed) audience, I did not know what to expect. These guys were great! They played for over 2 hours, kept the pace up and really put on a show. Combined with the atmosphere of the Lincoln..........what more can I say.

If you aren't a fan of bluegrass, you would be blown away by the amazing quality of skill, sound, showmanship, and God given talent. If you are a fan of bluegrass, this was the best live music you may ever experience. I've seen everyone from Grateful Dead-Pearl Jam-Garth Brooks-Chicago-Smashing Pumpkins-U2..... None come close to how rediculously awesome these guys were. The Lincoln Theater provided a classy, intimate, excellent sound experience but I'd pay money to hear these guys if I had to sit in a dumpster. My only issue is that I don't think they are releasing anything with all 5 guys playing together (a live show CD would blow my mind).

I'd recommend this show with a disclaimer. Love all these guys in their bands but it was an OK show. Punch Brothers blew us out of the water as do their bands, this is more of a bluegrass show but for $25 was worth it. No doubt they are world class musicians and alot of fun. I play banjo. My only real problem was Noam Pikelny came out blistering fast up the neck so there was no way to progress through the night. He kept taking the songs back to the same place, which got old with often off- key and timing stuff which technically was impressive but got old before the set was half over. The balance of the band rounded out the evening real well. Some fine solo song writing that I'll follow up. At one time Brian Sutton asked the crowd "still with us" because the sensed they were losing the crowd. The 2 guests, bluegrass rookies, we brought never said they had a great time. If I could do it again I'd put a good buzz on.

This event was the opening act for this stellar team of musicians. Ron McCoury, Luke Bulla, Brian Sutton, Noam Pikelny and Barry Bales is a good balanced mix of accomplished musicians. The opportunity to see this group together was amazing. Each are members of different bands. This means that they may never get an opportunity to link again. The parking at The 20th Century Theater is available and one must be legal and creative. This is a must see events.
