The Machine

The Machine

THE MACHINE IN CONCERT:As one of America's oldest Pink Floyd tribute bands, the Machine have spent more than 25 years honing their craft, and it's paid off -- Spin magazine confirms that they sound "exactly like Pink Floyd." Combining elaborate stage design, a state-of-the-art light and laser show, and end-to-end performances of seminal albums like Dark Side of the Moon, the band faithfully recreates Pink Floyd's legendary live shows in painstakingly brilliant detail. Fans looking for a dose of the Floyd are sure to be "Comfortably Numb" as they soak in the Machine's epic performances on their 2014 tour.BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:Formed in the late-'80s, New York-based the Machine arose out of its members' desire to pay homage to their idols in Pink Floyd.

Its not the same Machine. New member, lead guitarist and singer, great on guitar but not great on vocals and electricity. Band just does not seem to be grooving band it was. I think this was my fifth time seeing The Machine. I'm not sure what transpired to result in line up change. I'm not sure I'll be back as fan, after going to every local show I could for past couple of years.

This was my 7th time seeing The Machine and they always put on a good show. Musicianship and vocals are fantastic. Good to see the original guitarist and lead vocal back in the group. Hope to see them in Ocean City, NJ again this summer. The Scottish Rite is a great place to see a concert. Except that they switched from serving Yuengling to Flying Fish beer and it was nasty.

Saw these guys at clifton park concert hall. All I can say is that they are professionals and are very very good at what they do. They play the pink floyd catalog amazingly well...to the finest of details. Went with a group of 8 friends and family and we all left surprised at how awesome the show was. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who likes pink floyd and great guitar playing

What can I say? If you like Pink Floyd, you'll be in for a good time. The Machine puts on a really good show. This is the third time I have seem them in this particular venue. Each time they have played some of the same tunes, but also added different ones each time. You can also tell they are all having a good time up on stage by the amount of enthusiasm. The Scottish Rite Auditorium is a great place to see a show. Not a bad seat in the house. It's set up like an indoor amphitheater. Each row is above the row in front of it, so no heads to block your view.

I would have given five stars but for two minor reasons, one the band,I felt should have opened with the song The Machine but maybe they had in the past and grew tired of performing that song? Secondly and not in anyway connected with the actual performance we were seated in a section with many people getting up and down constantly during the performance. It seems that the venue employees quite a number of personnel when you arrive but they quickly diassppear shortly after the show begins. Two of the patrons near our seats (a multi 4 pack) were very rude and noisey and loud and well as drunk and were standing up during most of the show yelling at the top of their drunk lungs for the band to make it louder! A common symptom of a drunk person!

I have seen them a few times about 10 years ago when they toured Germany on their Animals and The Wall Tours. It was nice that my New York holiday coincidenced with their gig at B.B.Kings. Great setlist, opening and closing with Shine on. Lots of classics in between as well as some really early days stuff with space to improvise. One might have missed Welcome to the machine (sic!), Echoes or the end of Dark side, but there was a lot to listen to. Emphasis was on The Wall and Wish you were here albums. The band had a lot of fun onstage, and it transferred to the audience. I remember a fourpiece band, but this five piece setup was a brillant and clever choice, with two guitar players and good singers for the Waters and Gilmour vocal types. Apparently that's not the permanent constellation, but it should be! Lighting of course was a bit limited because the venue is quite small and there's hardly stage depht or height, but still a tasteful job done. Sound with the house PA was good, could have been more deeep bass, but maybe this was depending on our seating.

The vocals were muddy. Drummer and keyboards. Were great. Two lead singers were not David Gilmore or Roger Walters by a long shot. Good light show. However they did put their all into it. Waited all night for Big Gig in the sky. And they never sang it, bummer. Would not see them again. Wait for Brit Floyd .

Machine music was well received. Big but - Machine is not Brit Floyd. There is little resemblance to the real Pink Floyd music (as present with Brit Floyd). I am glad I went to see the Machine, but I do not want to see it again. I see Brit Floyd usually once a year at the Sands. There is a big difference between the productions.

I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan, and I recall seeing The Machine at Penn's Peak years ago and being blown away. So when I saw these tickets, I had to buy them. I left underwhelmed. Their song selection was great, and they have a little something for all types of Pink Floyd fans. The singer sounds just like Roger Waters - especially on those older songs. They only had one guitar player (the singer). I'm unsure if they only had one when I saw them years ago, but I can say that many songs felt hollow. It looked like the keyboard player was handling some of the rhythm but it didn't do the songs justice. Especially at parts where the song is filled with the rhythm and keyboard (like parts of the song The Machine). The vox was either not working properly, or only light hearted attempts were made to use it. And lastly, the keyboard player - when he strayed from the original music, he just wasn't striking a chord with my ears. He's got loads of talent, but improvising just didn't fit the bill in parts. In addition, he was late on most of his vocal cues for the few parts he sang. The venue itself was great. The band was very good but could do with another guitar player and a different singer than the keyboard player. If you've never seen them before, it's certainly worth checking out if you are Pink Floyd fan. But my memory of them from years ago is better than the reality I saw last weekend.

The concert was really well done. I especially like how the band improvises and jams to make great songs even better. It is amazing the sound that 4 band members can put out. Personally I thought that too many of the songs were the obscure songs. There is a reason why most are obscure and that is because generally they were not as good as the better known ones. Some obscure songs are nice, but not half of the playlist. The lighting is great, EXCEPT for when the lights go directly into the audience and start blinding you. Again this is OK if done occasionally, but during some songs it was so frequent that I found myself guarding against the lights so I could protect myself as they turned towards the audience rather than enjoying the show. I hope The Machine sees these well intentioned comments and adjusts what is basically an excellent production. I would have given the concert 5 stars, but because of what I mentioned in the comments, I had to drop it to 4 stars.

The Machine puts on an exceptionally amazing performance (I actually prefer seeing them vs. Brit Floyd, which I saw last year in Philadelphia). Great show! Highly recommended. I give the performance 5 stars. The venue, not so much. Here's why: The Scottish Rite Auditorium is an old building built in the 1920's. The theater sound is excellent. As far as the party scene goes, in the parking lot there is NONE. If you show up and plan to eat or drink, bring your own bathroom \\ trash bag because there are no rest rooms or trash cans outside. Once you get inside you are not allowed to eat or drink at your seat. You can only eat or drink in the designated vending area. The food and drink are very limited so I would advise you to eat before you go to the show. Of course there is no smoking as well.

Best Pink Floyd EVER! I ve seen this group 6 times now. Their perfect delivery of classic Floyd literally brings tears to my eyes. It s nonstop Pink Floyd (except for a intermission) the entire time- and they play EVERYTHING-not just the radio favorites. If you re looking for a flashy show with all the fancy visual effects- you won t find it with The Machine... unless you re at the show with the laser effects. No fancy stuff; just pure raw Pink Floyd at it s finest. They fill up my soul with the most amazing performance time after time.

Second time we've seen The Machine at BB Kings. Yes, they really sound like Pink Floyd and rocked the club. The band sounded great and was tighter and had better sound quality than the previous show. Special shout out to the drummer (Tara) who had a particularly good night. Show opened with Pigs on the Wing and led in to Dogs (my personal favorite). Playlist included Have a Cigar, Wish You Were Here, Dogs, Pigs, and an excellent really groovy deep cut of Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun from Saucer Full of Secrets. Of course there were the usual radio friendly cuts from The Wall (not a fan) but I understand why they play them. The band closed the show with One of These Days from Meddle which is an album that I love but hard to play live. All in all a really fun show but the second time we have not heard Welcome to the Machine... ironic.

Joe's vocals started with a poor mix but after that things cranked. Nice mix of old Floyd that us hardcores know (lucifer Sam and Julia Dream) and more popular (wall, dark side and wish you were bere). The rendition of Dogs from animals was awesome. Love it when Ryan plays guitar and Scott's keyboard improv is nice. We like thier shows when they add a sax and female vocalist! Great stuff as usual. Blue Ocean is a great venue.

The band itself was amazing and I would highly recommend them and would love to see them again! The venue on the other hand was greatly lacking! When I purchased the tickets, the "arena" was not available to be seen so thankfully I purchased general admission tickets. There was no arena but just a stage with about 8 tall bar tables and the rest were picnic benches. Maye if I were going to see an acoustic performance or something this would have been quaint... I was personally hoping for the laser show and some great music. The music was great, just not the right venue! There was NO AC, (was informed that it was broken) and a bucket of 6 beers was $44! There was no room and people were actually sitting on the floor to watch the show. The tickets clearly stated seat #'s. Most of the seats were already taken by people waiting to hit golf balls. ANYONE could have walked in to watch the show without paying as the venue was wide open to everyone to enjoy.

Seen The Machine about a year ago and was by far the best concert ever. If you closed your eyes, each song was perfect (vocals & music!). But now with the new lead guitar/singer, I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. Decent guitarist but vocals not even close! He just didn't give the "heart and soul" to each of the songs. Couldn't believe the encore was a "rare old song" which was a depressing dull song. An encore should be the best song which leaves the audience wanting more. Very few songs from everyone's favorite; The Wall and the few they did just didn't cut it. Couldn't wait to see The Machine again, but the 2nd visit ruined my perfect memory of the best concert ever! Would never go back unless they do major changes.
