Beth Gibbons voice is amazing. Such a soulful voice. The rest of the band were great! Sound was wonderful. And their backdrop videos really added to the mood. I loved the Rip video. Its such a treat to see an great band perform beyond anything I imagined. Even convinced some new friends in town to see them before ever hearing them and they loved it!!! Please, god, let them tour again and soon.

I saw Portishead in 1997 at the Hollywood Palladium and that show was awesome. Again, at this show they didn't disappoint. Beth's voice was untouchable and sounded beautiful. The whole atmosphere and stage set up was unspeakable and collaborated well with each song performed. It was blind luck that I happen to find out they were touring. This was a birthday present for my best friend who I originally went to see Portishead with the first time. Boy, was she blown away when she saw this ticket. Great, amazing and awesome performance. This is for Andy, so happy we got to share this show together.

Amazing! This band is so emotionally moving and seeing them Live for the first time was everything I hoped for. They played all my favorites and some new ones, too. The venue was small enough and not too crowded.

This was by far one of THE BEST shows I have EVER been to, hands down. Beth crooned like a siren. She was spot-on and pitch-perfect. It would be nearly impossible to tell a live performance from the album were you to listen to them side by side! The band had AMAZING chemistry, and they all really seemed to be enjoying themselves. This was quite the memorable show, indeed. I believe I can speak for all of us when I say thank you SO MUCH, Portishead, for coming to Seattle. <3 SidheSiren

I don't know what I was expecting, but I didn't expect Beth Gibbons to have the most eerie and most beautiful live voice, and wow, she really put everything she had out there for the crowd to enjoy. There are few bands that are like Portishead. I never thought I would ever get a chance to see them live and going to see them was a dream come true. The sound at the Greek Theatre only added to the perfection of the musicianship. It wasn't too loud and it wasn't too quiet. Beth Gibbons is even more incredible live than on the albums, as well as the rest of the band. Probably my favorite concert of all time. I LOVE YOU PORTISHEAD!!! THANK YOU!

I loved every single minute of this concert. Beth was highly emotional and screaming loudly. The synthesizers got very strong to the point were we experienced an orgasmic vibration at a massive scale. The multimedia was trippy and dark. And the music just out of this world. This was one of the best shows I ever seen in my life. I would fly to the next city to see it again.

We've been waiting for over 13 years to see Portishead live because they never tour in the US. It was definitely worth the wait! They played a great mix of songs from their earlier albums and a lot of songs from Third. I liked the screen they had behind them too. The members of the band seemed to enjoy playing and Beth Gibbons even came down into the audience during the last song to show her appreciation. It was just amazing overall and they sounded almost exactly like on the albums. I hope they don't wait so long for their next tour!

Every song was clearly planned and performed in sync with a giant video screen behind the band. The show was an easy A+..."Wandering Star" destroyed my mind with how beautifully and expertly it was performed. I love Beth Gibbons vocals, but as part of Portishead, they are hard to reproduce outside of the live experience. Even on my home stereo if I bump the volume up enough the bass becomes a bother. if I leave it low enough to not have the bass not take everything over then Beths vocals are too soft. I don't know what magic they used but the whole show was amazing to bring everything together. Will be a show my fiance and I will remember for a long time.

From the moment the capital P first jiggled on that big screen, grooves were etching into a WaMu theater full of mostly old school fans. Atmosphere smelled pleasant and not too hot, great views from all over the theater, judiciously priced, booked and staffed/coordinated event with a wet bar to boot. Portishead has truly trumped Pink Floyd for visual effects and sheer stadium presence - with fresher material, better vocals, and no ego/drama. Beth is so very humble in her thanks, just like at the old Roseland show from early last decade. She even took a spin through the front of the audience at the end. Enough can't be said about the quality of this show. Live feeds were overlaid and augmented with effects so beautifully. The visual and audio engineers were just as instrumental in this performance as Geoff, Adrian, and Beth. Geoff worked the traps and a couple instruments including no doubt turntables though it was a little too dark to see that end. Hats off for staying so low key. True masters here. Adrian came to the table with his signature minimal and so so tasteful guitar lines on a variety of axes and effects. Beth wails like a native princess at the bottom of the sea. Any sea siren's envy, little mermaid eat your heart out you can't touch this. [P] hope they surface again in a decade or so. They weather the time well, their reclusive nature and LP release schedule truly suits them.

One of those rare opportunities that barely ever presents itself. I could not be more pleased with myself that I persisted in getting a ticket before it sold out. The mood for the evening was set before the band even came out, by the music the DJ was playing as well as the music of Thought Forms, the opening band. It seemed Portishead was going to play Third in order of the albums tracks up to the third song. Our posse, which is a devoted group of fans, had perfect seats. The visual as well as the sound quality were top grade, much to my surprise. The band cover most every relevant song they have, plus a new track, which was as danceable as they have ever gotten, Beth was even shaking her hands to the beat.

I remember the first time I listened to Portishead around 15 years ago. The first feeling I got was the restless sadness caused by Beth Gibbons' voice. I finally got to see them live on Wednesday at Hammerstein Ballroom. It was awesome specially because they had split a long time ago, and I always thought that I was not going to see them live. This was a present from the cosmos! Portishead came up with a very well thought video set that combined images with the live projections of the band playing. They had cameras posted in different places of the stage that captured the best angles of the lead singer, percussionist and guitar player. This show was sober and cool at the same time, and I have an indelible smile since. If you have the chance, you should go and check this band out. Their sound is sensual and powerful, and they have been doing this for decades. You won't be disappointed.

An amazing show. They played pretty much every song I wanted to hear (no "Strangers" though). I enjoyed when the original 3 members stayed on stage to perform an amazing/ eerie version of "Wandering Star". The screen in the back displayed cool visuals that were tooled around with to give it a sort of damaged VHS tape look. Their music is filled with emotion and they definitely brought it to the stage, I would see them again in a heartbeat. :)

I had a hard time really digging the opening band, seemed like the kind of tonal experimental tapestries that I used to play with on LSD in community college. Long held notes and vocals and textural touch therapy for the brain. Portishead though, were a class act, fascinating ochestration of multilevel aural landscapes that with the spectacular visual stories on the backdrop behind the band was a wonderful scene. The venue at WAMU theatre was pretty amazing for a large venue. Very cool, never been there before so I was impressed.

I've been fortunate enough to witness Portishead four times, and Beth Gibbons side project with Rustin' Man. My first Portishead show at at the Supper Club in Manhattan. We had a table right in front of Beth on the floor. Intimate and astonishing. When I saw them next they performed their Roseland 1997 show, and I ended up in six seconds of Super 8 footage, nodding my head at around the one-minute mark during Elysium. Now I was able to see them with enormous video screens and amazingly in such a large space, Beth's voice and Adrian's music and Geoff's beats combined into a soul-chilling onslaught of negative emotion and striving for humanness. The audience talked much less than the normal New York audience (save for one texting loser behind me). Portishead: Now, Always, Forever.

This show doesn't need a review. If you were on the fence on seeing Portishead, you shouldn't go to this show. People at this show knew how important it was to be there. The people that attended did not want to risk another 15 years without seeing this band perform live, and that's why they were there on Friday night. Been waiting to see this amazing band of artists for many years. My son is both a solo artist and in a band called Maere that recently released their first CD and have a video on the way. Portishead has always had a huge influence on the music he writes. his show was phenomenol on so many levels - performance, venue, artistry, composition, visuals and then there is the fact that unlike some bands, they played for over 2 hours!!! Now, if the Greek could just put some little toe holds on their grassy incline and refrain from watering it for a couple of days prior to an event, mark parking better...

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of seeing Portishead at Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. It was one of the greatest shows I have ever been to. The fact that I was even in the same room as the band and that I was watching them and not a video was enough to get the adrenaline rushing WEEKS before the show even happened. I mean, the last time they played in NYC was the Roseland show in the late 90's!!! I can only hope that they decide to return to perform again because I WILL BE THERE.

I flew to Seattle to see Portishead from San Francisco, that should tell what kind of fan I am. I waited too long to buy a tickets to Berkeley Greek theater, so ended up with buying it to WaMu in Seattle, and the show was great, the venue I would say not that great as the Greek Theater, but also very nice. Opening band did not impress me much either, just my opinion, maybe because i waited to see Portishead too hard. I kinda wanted to compare this show to Massive attack this year in a beginning, but don't think it would be appropriate. The live video on the back blend to the atmosphere and the Beth voice - all 5 stars. Definitely I will go to any Portishead concert in future, hope in near. They don't touring that much and i almost lost a hope that i'll see them, so this concert gave me a hope again. Thanks.

I have loved Portishead since I was 14 years old. One opportunity to see them at Coachella a couple of years ago was missed, so I definitely didn't want to miss them again. So glad I went. Not only does Beth have an incredible set of pipes on her still almost 20 years later, but the whole band sounded amazing together. I would definitely see them again.

The show was amazing! The setting of the Greek theater couldn't have been better for this gathering. Beth was superb & the band was rocking, I waited so long to see Portishead & I was not disappointed in the least. My only complaint was the show flew by so fast! I'd pay anything to see them again <3

I have been a fan of Portishead since I first heard "Sour Times" back in January, 1995, and was totally wowed by Dummy. "Mysterons," "Wandering Star," "Glory Box, and my favorite of their first album, "It's a Fire" made them one of my all time favorite bands. Their second album amazed me as they made the listener focus on them even more. After a more accessible Beth Gibbons (if you can call it that) did her solo effort and us fans had to wait ten years until Third-- I was amazed as always that while Third focused on different experimental sounds, it was still distinctly Portishead. People who called them "Trip Hop," to explain something unique were incorrect as Trip Hop bands are Trip Hop, while Portishead is well . . . Portishead. The album had distinct lights, images and true talent of the band. While two of my favorite songs, "It's a Fire" and "Humming" were distinctly absent, the true staples of "Glory Box" and "Threads" and "The Rip" among many other signature tunes were excellent.

Beth's voice was better than ever. After all these years, the band is as tight as they were when I saw them back in 1997 at the Warfield.

The guitar was lackluster and often out of time (and not in an abstract way), this stems from becoming overly reliant on thick effects to make up for the creativity used in early albums. Beth was astounding and the percussion was excellent. Overall highly reccomended.

Since Third came out, I've been dreaming of a Portishead "revival" tour. Since Dummy my luck has worked against me, until now, and I haven't been able to catch Portishead live. In 2008, I even had a brief moment of weakness and desperately considered flying to England to see them play at a festival (might I mention that I loathe, actually HATE festivals). Then too find out that they were to play at Coachella and it was to be their only US stop! CRUSHED. Now, finally, through all the heartache and agony of waiting for the moment to come, I can honestly say that they did not disappoint. In fact, it was simply wonderful. The sound was amazing. The visual imagery was fantastic. They have not only reawakened a youthful admiration and respect for their music, but have added yet another beautiful memory to my life. Thank you for finally coming through! Please don't be such strangers to this area. I hope you could tell how much we appreciate you in the bay!

Best show i have seen, i mean besides Etta James, but that's just too different categories. the whole set was jaw dropping, between the actual presence of Beth and the lights and movies, perfect weather all day. It was like the stars aligned. I'm glad I grew a set and took bought the tickets for my birthday and actually got off work. I'm still wondering if it was all just a dream.

Best experience ever! There is no bad seat in the Greek theater. Portis was everything. Wandering star was set up intimately with just her and the guitarist playing bass. It was beautifully gut wrenching. Then right after that machine gun came out and it shook me awake from this wandering calmness. Just made it all so breathless

I have been waiting to see this band for at least 10 years and like many other fans, I never thought I was going to get the chance. Absolutely incredible! The Greek is an amazing theater but the performance was professional and one of the best I've ever seen. Beth gibbons is a complete vocal treasure while the band itself also delivers amazing intensity. Unforgettable!

Band was really tight. On top of their game. But serious lack of interaction with audience until very end. even though we were showing lots of love. Perhaps some insecurity on their/her part.
