Richard Clayderman

Richard Clayderman

The French pianist, now in his sixties, has sold more than 150 million records and helped create a new genre of “popular classical” music. He also became an unlikely pin-up during the '80s, courtesy of soft-focus television commercials for his albums that emphasised his angelic good looksand wonderful hair.\"Some people say that my music is 'elevator music'\", reveals the 61-year-old musician. \"This is their way to make clear that they consider it as a secondary music, a low level music.

Great performance by great star known since my college days. Flint Center is close by and convenient. A bit disappointed that the program guides were all gone even though I arrived 30 min before the scheduled start time.

Waiting to see him over 30+ years in U.S. but very sad to see him with a small accompaniment. He normally performed in other countries with at least 21 piece orchestra in sold out stadium size audience. He was great but pre-recorded backing synthesizer was horrible. It ruined especially when he played "Cinema Paradiso".

It was fantastic excellent piano concert. Mr. Clayderman was a super gentleman so that the security guards had to maintain a field order for a while. I will come back for some other concerts in the future.

The orchestration was not live, and the amplification was much too high.

People kept coming in late into near the intermission, a little baby kept shouting and kicking the back of my chair might be bearable if the music was great. Clayderman played simplistic pop version of movie numbers with loud karaoke type background tune along with some students playing violins and cellos, while karaoke type images flashing on the screen the whole time. I am sure some people enjoyed the concert but my friend and I left at the intermission feeling I wasted good $150.00.

I enjoyed listening to Richard Clayderman play the piano. It was very nice of him to give his sheet music away. The venue was the perfect for his music.

I love Richard. I think he is a world-class pianist! I still think he is after Sunday. And my nephew is an upcoming young pianist. So I took him to the show! It was a very disappointing experience. The background music was so loud that we couldn't even hear the piano or cello or violin sounds. We wondered if they played pre-recorded songs. It didn't feel like a live Richard Clayderman concert. Richard is still a great pianist. however, Sunday concert felt like someone just quickly put a horrible show together to take money from Richard's fans.

Richard Clayderman, as usual, was great. the audience, however, need more education. Many people, mostly Asian, dress very casual, shorts, T-shirts and Nike shoes. (I am Asian too, and I went to many concerts. I've never seen so many people come to a concert without any dress code! Maybe this is a cultural thing? Definitely not MY culture!) Many people did not turn off their cell phone, and it create sounds when they snap photos. Many parents brought their kids and allow the kids ran to the front of the stage and asked for music sheet/autograph. some parents even put their kids on the stage and have photos with Richard. This is not acceptable. All concert should be treated as formal events. I think it is worth to mention the dress code and the good manner in the ticket--cell phone in airplane mode, remain in your seats, control your kids....etc.

Wonderful music presentation, great stage design. Richard is close to his audience with interaction. He has sense of humor. He played a couple of songs that are first originated from Taiwan. Strong recommendation of Richard s concert to people who love modern soft music.

Clayderman played well, but his recorded accompaniment sometimes was too loud. His live string accompaniment was very good. The show overall was OK, but too many show tunes. We would've enjoyed a little more classical mixed in. Also, the video displayed during the performance sometime was distracting rather than supporting. When the screen showed close up of his hands, the video was a fraction of a beat behind the actual music.

Mr. Clayderman's performance resembled that of a street performer. As paying customers, we expect live performances not prerecorded background music with him simulating playing the piano. Last time he performed here, some years ago, he had a live orchestra. This was a major disappointment.

I enjoyed Clayderman's piano playing, but the canned background percussion and horns were too loud, overpowering the live strings on stage. Clayderman's piano was loud enough to be heard, but the guest pianos played by five children could not be heard. I was disappointed with the playlist, which had no classical music or pieces requiring only piano and strings without other canned instruments.

Paid a premium price to take my girlfriend to see her piano idol; Richard Clayderman, to find he uses recorded back round music. She was very disappointed. The disappointment started when she asked for a program and was told "they ran out"! It's a 3000 seat venue, how do you not have enough programs!? The parking was a nightmare.

No complaints, he was wonderful, his charisma and wit to interact with the audience is beyond belief. A master of the piano 2 hours was not enough

I have been listening to Richard Clayderman since 1977 when I was only 2 years old. It was an experience of a lifetime! I finally saw the pianist who influenced my piano playing, my interest in playing the piano and even getting a piano degree. He was, as always, gentle with his playing, gracious to his audience and funny as well. I only wished he would have played with a full live orchestra, not to a track recording, and I could have done without the distracting images shown on the screen. I would strongly suggest to sell his merchandise so he can sell more merchandise and give the audience even just half an hour to either have picture taken or autograph, even if he charges he could make even more money.

Outstanding! Once in a lifetime! A dream come true! This guy is amazing, funny, entertaining, intelligent, and a master of the piano. There isn't a style he can't play. It was out of this world!
