Larry and the band played rock solid funk all night. They did not miss a beat and had the place rocking as usual. They did Graham Central Station, Sly / Family Stone, Chaka Khan and of course Price music and sounded great on every number. The best moment for us was getting engaged at the show during "One In A Million You". Then meeting Larry after the show and having him sign the box the ring was in. Thank you Larry for all the music and now new memories!!

My husband and I went to see Graham Central Station at the end of March and truly enjoyed the concert. The group started out with Larry entering the room from behind the crowd with bass in hand, singing and getting the audience involved. It was wonderful! The Birchmere has great acoustics and good food, which will result in memorable time for all who attend.

LARRY GRAHAM AND GRAM CENTRAL STATION WERE ABSOLOUTELY THE BEST.. His energy, vocals, music, everything was simply amazing! I also love the chemistry Larry has with Biscuit. Her vocals and energy are flawless. The entire show was great from beginning to end. The encore when Larry brings out his wife Tina and she sings and dances with him is my all time favorite part of his show. When Larry Graham is in town we're in the house!!!

Mr Larry Graham brought his "A" game to the Birchmere!! In this day and age a live music performance without gyrating and half naked dancers was a refreshing experience. The show was about the music. He interacted and talked to his audience and did not curse or demean women iat any point. Yayyyy for old school Funk!!!

I have had the pleasure of seeing Larry Graham and Graham Central Station on numerous occasions, and they never disappoint. Larry brings the kind of energy we should expect from all Rock and Roll Hall of Famers. Simply stated, when a performer provides 2 1/2 hours of non-stop entertainment, and leaves the audience wanting more...that is an amazing night!

Amazing. This was a great show. I cannot tell you what a great time I had at this show. I went to the show with a friend who had just gotten out of the hospital and insisted he go because he had met Larry Graham in Oakland CA. He was so happy to be there although he was not well enough to go. He got a chance to talk and shake hands with Larry Graham.

i loved the show. the highlight is when he asked for people to come up and get some. that was sweet. also at the end of the show when other people joined the group on stage. what I did not like was the group played too many songs that were not his. too much sly and the family stones. I wanted to hear Larry's music. I really wanted to hear "can you handle it" but they did not play it. the who do you admire segment by each band member was nice but again it was too much other peoples music.

I have seen them twice in less than a year, and this show was even better than the last. The band performed for about three hours with a groove that had most everyone on their feet for a good part of the show.

This is by far the absolute best concert I have witnessed this year. Larry Garaham turned the Birchmere out. This man is a bass playing, baritone singing dynamo. The female lead singer Biscuit is energized and entertaining. The band is the greatest. Mr. Graham had the audience on our feet most of the night in a Grand Central Party. He had an awesome segment he calls Show me whatcha got, where he invites the audience to come on stages and showcase their talents. Trust me when I say there was some talent up in the Birchmere who played tremendously almost every instrument of Larry Graham's band. Awesome, absolutely awesome. They too, brought the house to their feet. Thank you Mr. Graham for providing this platform. Then, just when we thought the show was over. Larry a Graham brought his band back and did not one but 3 encores. How cool is that for an evening of entertainment. If you missed this show you will for certain be upset with yourself it you don't make it the next time Graham Central Station rolls in the Birchmere. Thank you Birchmere for bringing Larry Graham back. This is one show I will not miss.

Larry Graham & Graham Central Station totally rocked the house at the Birchmere. Larry came out strong walking amongst the tables playing his guitar. Although the band isn't the original band, they played like they've been playing with Larry from the beginning. Larry's voice was still strong, and his guitar playing was awesome. We were on our feet during most of the performance. We gave Larry such a warm welcome, he told us he felt the love and wasn't going to leave until we left. The show was almost 2 1/2 hours long.

One of the best shows I've seen at the Birchmere ever. Larry Graham has not missed a beat after all these years. His shows cross the spectrum of not only the Graham Central Station years but the Sly and the Family Stone era. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

As always Larry Graham and Graham Central Station gave an awesome performance, with too many encores to count! The crowed asked for more and they delivered. Only thing, I wanted to hear more of the old Graham Central Station songs and my favorites from their new album. I still won't ever miss a show when they're in this area.

Unbelievable at 68 years old - energetic!! The entire band is on point. My party and I enjoyed the show so much that we sang on the trip home. We can hardly wait for the return visit of Graham Central Station. We were simply taken back on a trip to our youth!! Larry loves his fans and it was so obvious in his remarks and soulful performance. I loved his entrance from the back and down through the crowd with a stop to stand in a chair. Wow -- he's a great showman and sincere performer. It was very nice how he engaged the audience, encouraged his band and kept the party going.

The last time I saw Larry Graham and Graham Central Station I was in High School. I saw him at the Capital Center in Landover, MD, just outside of Washington, D.C. I went to the show expecting Mr. Graham to be FUNKY, but not this FUNKY. After all, he s been around for over 40 years. I figured that he may have lost a step, or developed a hitch in his funk-get-along. Talk about being wrong. After last night s show, Larry Graham has catapulted into my All Time Top 5 List of live performances. Before seeing Larry Graham last night my top 5 best live performers were: James Brown Prince Earth, Wind & Fire The Jackson 5/Michael Jackson Brian Culbertson After the Larry Graham experience last night, Brian Culbertson has been voted out of the Top 5 to the #6 slot with Larry Graham and Graham Central Station comfortably occupying the #5 slot. Last night, the show started with the band coming on stage from the right wing. The crowd was looking toward the stage chanting Larry! Larry! Larry! The crowd erupted in applause as Larry Graham came from the rear of the building walking through the audience playing his bass guitar making his way to the stage. Dressed in his signature all-white suit and a white hat topped off by a huge aqua blue feather, Graham also wore a floor length Elvis-like jacket. By now everyone was on their feet (including me and I hate standing at concerts). Graham walked by our table playing that bass guitar like the Pied Piper of Funk. His band, Graham Central Station (GCS) has gone through a number of changes in membership. The current GSC band are all young folks who grew up idolizing Graham. The band also features female vocalist Ashling Cole, who goes by the nickname Biscuit. Ms. Cole has the daunting task of taking over the vocals made famous original GCS member, Patrice Chocolate Banks. I had my doubts if the young girl named Biscuit was up to the task. She quickly sold me and the audience when she belted out the song, I Can t Stand the Rain. Biscuit, who says her musical influences were Teena Marie and Chaka Khan, also sang a Chaka Khan song to prove that she could was up doing the heavy lifting vocally when asked. After about an hour into the show Graham told the crowd: You better call the babysitter and tell them you will be home late. Dude played for 3 hours! Graham had 5 encores! (I guess he forgot that some of us had things to do the next morning). Throughout the night Larry Graham and the band performed their 1975 anthem The Jam before taking fans back in time with Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Again), and Dance To The Music from Graham s Sly & The Family Stone days. At one point the band exited the stage leaving Graham to work play thumb funk box, alone with the drummer. In addition, the band played a medley of musical influences that included music by George Duke, Prince, Chaka Khan, Miles Davis, James Brown, The Originals and The Ohio Players. If that wasn t enough, Larry Graham allowed people from the audience to come on stage and showcase their talent by jamming with the band. Can you imagine going on stage and saying: I play bass, and Larry Graham takes his bass off and gives it to you to play? Everyone who came on stage had an opportunity to play their instrument of choice or sing and the band members stepped aside, gave up their instrument for you and let you jam with the band. I almost ran on stage to sing Sly s If You Want Me To Stay. I would have turned The Birchmere out! After the show, Graham, the band, and his wife of 40 years, came out and signed autographs, took pictures and mingled with the crowd until well after midnight. If you have a chance to re-live your youth, go see Larry Graham. I was exhausted after the show. I think I pulled a hamstring bouncing up and down to 1999 during the Prince medley of the show. It was that song or James Brown s I Got The Feeling.

Despite some tech issues, Larry Graham & Graham Central Station shined! They put on an incredible and energetic show! We were blown away by how lengthy the show was and they really gave us more than anyone could ask for. Great from start to finish. Really enjoyed how they called out a couple who were married for over 60 years to share what their secrets were. Overall, an entertaining and explosive show!

Larry Graham has still got it. He thumps that bass guitar as powerfully and accurately as if he were still a teen. And that golden voice - so smooth and sexy. It was a great show. Graham Central Station held their own. Their tributes to Prince as well as the Stevie Wonder songs they performed were on point. Throughout the night, we were all up out of our seats dancing like it was 1999!.

Couldn't have enjoyed an evening more. The Birchmere is an intimate theater and even though I had the equivalent of a seat in the wings, a sell-out performance, I enjoyed the hell out of Larry and his outstanding team, everyone of which added equally to the LG&GCS experience. Larry's dedicated audience contributed much to the show as well. So glad I didn't miss this one.

I have been to the Birchmere for the Larry Graham & Graham Central Station show three (3) times. And each time is better than the last. His sound is still original & has not faltered not once. All this band members as well as Biscuit & his Wife completes the complete circle of entertainment. I would love to continue to support such an outstanding artist who has been faithful all these years. However depending on my funds I hope & pray that I may see his shows as long as the Lord allows. Kudos to you Larry for being the most Amazing person EVER! May the Lord Bless you, your family & band members Always. Peace & Continued Blessings....

A great show! Great energy. Larry Graham is very regal and awesome. He played from his solo work, Sly and the Family Stone, and a couple of Prince songs. Also talked about Prince, having known him very well. He was kind enough to meet his fans afterwards. I got my cd signed and 3 photos with him. The band is very nice too.

Larry was great, still has the groove and sounds amazing on his elegant white bass. He played his solo stuff with GCS, biggest hits that he made with Sly and Family Stone, and such a emotional tribute to his close friend Prince with Purple Rain and 1999. I enjoyed every moment. So happy that I had an opportunity to hear this legend live.

The sound, energy and showmanship were fantastic. LG still has it and is quite remarkable! I was disappointed that he did not perform many of his own hits. I loved the Sly and Family Stone songs, and the tribute to Prince was understandable-just a bit too long. There were LG & GCS standards that were not performed, and we were a bit disappointed. Also, less story telling, please.

Great Old School playing. He had the audience on its feet from the beginning of the first song. At 70, Larry Graham shows he is a master not only of slappy and popping bass lines but also an entertainer extradinaire. His storytelling about his career and relationship with Prince captivated the audience. He kept the audience engaged. Anyone interested in funk has to see Larry Graham and his group.

Following the strong performance of Jeff Bradshaw & Friends (including Jamaica Funk legend Tom Browne) -- around 10:30pm, the GCS band started their funk-paced set, with some good ole jamming...about 5 minutes later, Larry Graham strolled in from the back of the theatre, funkatizing every funkateer with his signature slap-bassisms ! The funk jam session continued for another few minutes...the air was so thick with da funk you can cut it up with a knife !! This led into the famous GCS intro "We Been Waiting", followed by the heavy stank funk of "Ain't No Fun to Me"....I had to run out to get some oxygen because it "stunk" so bad up in there...DAY-UMM! GCS kept the monstrous funk going with "It's Alright". Female vocalist Biscuits handled lead vocals for the mid-tempo song "Can't Stand the Rain"....she sounded great and the lead guitar solo was killing). Larry was talking about the good old days, mentioning a show that he did at the Spectrum (in Philly)....then GCS jumped into "Release Yourself, a frenetic funk orgasm that had funkateers shakin their hips till they broke...and the combined drum solo by the 2 drummers was lethal!!!! Larry began talking about a woman that he fantasized taking up to a serene scene on a mountain called "Ole Smokey"..."Ole Smokey" was a wonderful, slow-tempo funk with a nice synthesized horn solo. Larry talked about another woman who wasn't as nice as the first one...the next song "Tell Me What It Is" was a powerful exercise in acoustic bass funk....and boy was it an NASTY one....YIKES!!! It was time for the tribute to Lady T (Teena Marie)--Biscuits had the fans dancing to the one of Lady T s funkiest cuts, Square Biz ...vocally, Biscuits was throwing down. (I know that Lady T would be proud!). Things show down for the megahit ballad, One in a Million ...the ladies (as well as the fellas) were more than happy to sing the chorus with Larry...we sung about it about four times. Then we traveled back in time...back to the late 1960 s....the tempo sped up to party mode as we all Dance to the Music . The song sounded tight with every musician doing their part, even the synthesized horns ! The song segued into the greatest jam ever heard...YES, THAT S RIGHT....it was time for The Jam ...the Tropicana Showroom went into a funk frenzy over this megaton funk blast....starting from the epicenter (in the Showroom) the foundation of the casino building began to shake....patrons on the floors below began to panic....blackjack & roulette tables began to overturn....slot machines began to light up like crazy!!!!!! The strong tremor continued into Thank You Falletinme Be Mice Elf Agin ...the bassman was giving us all he got with his slap-bass performance! The encore started with an interesting twist, 1999 -- yes, we were blessed with a song from one of funky friends, PRINCE. Scores of fans came onstage and partied with the GCS for a few minutes like it was 1999. Then Larry & company took us HIGHER with I Want to Take You Higher . TOO MUCH FUNK, TOO MUCH FUNK!!!! It was all over around 11:50pm. It s been two days and I still haven t recuperated from the experience!! All I can say is DAYYYYY-UM!!!

Larry Graham was truly entertaining at the Tropicana last friday evening. Larry Graham brought ole' school back with his greatest hits.
