I've been a fan of the Pop Group since the early 1980s, which is when they started. I owned their records but never imagined that I would one day be seeing them, as they were relatively short loved. So, to my great surprise, they have reunited and that are as terrific a band as they ever were. I had a great time seeing them and am really glad that I did.

72 minutes of sonic post punk with six tunes from the new record, "Citizen Zombie," defined an amazing concert at Rough Trade NYC. Simply blistering from start to finish, The Pop Group left all in attendance yelling for more!

it was a tremendous joy to see the Pop Group for the first time after listening to them on vinyl back in the early 80's...they opened the show with the sonic affront/confrotational classic song: "We are all Prostitutes"... Which clearly set the tone for the entire delightful evening of angular, funky, abrasive, clearly-driven and thought-provoking music... These post-punk forefathers, now perhaps in their 50's (???) put so many younger bands to shame with their decidely anti-commercial, artful and beautiful noise coupled with Mark Stewarts lyrics and radically unconventional yet beautiful vocal delivery. They remain convicted and inspired at a time in music that is so often superficial and fashion-oriented posing as radical and new. They continue to break the mold wide open. I could not believe that the show was not sold out... That the place was not packed to the walls but those of us privileged to be there were treated to sheer trascendence and catharsis in response to the human condition... Simply brilliant and undefineable! Not to be missed!!!!!!!!!
