J.R. Sullivan's Hometown Holiday

Although I've lived in Rockford for over 30 years, this was my first attendance at the Hometown Holiday. It was wonderful. Great talent...heartfelt commitment to and remembrances of the holiday....a great mix of music...current comedic sketches...and readings. All in an intimate venue. A must see.....although I thoroughly enjoyed the show, I also found myself filled with regret by realizing this great production has been here for the taking for over a decade and I never partook of it. It will be a fixture on our holiday calendar from now on and for as many years as they present it.

This is a tradition for myself and spouse. We look fore ward to this wonderful production every year. J.R brings with him the most amazing and talented artist's that have been in the show in past years, who will totally amaze everyone. The mix of talent between all is just so powerful and endearing. This year he also brought new talent which included Kayla Carter whose voice was just beautiful. Also,Hayward Williams who was blessed with gifted with some wonderful music and a dash of humor.

The performers were very professional and this show was enjoyable to attend, however it was truly lacking traditional holiday or Christmas songs. There were holiday-themed narratives, but I would have enjoyed hearing songs of the season.

Just a few too many offensive elements to want to attend again in the future. And so much of it had nothing to do with Christmas. We attended Hometown Holiday years ago, and I look back fondly at that performance. This year's performance lacked quality humor and Christmas cheer.

I have seen many J.R. Sullivan's Hometown Holiday shows over the years, and this latest show is the best. Jim assembles top musicians, singers, comedians not only in the area, but several from across the country. We enjoyed the selection of songs, the script writing, individual performances, and Jim's closing narration of Christmas memories from his youth. Highly recommend!

J.R. Sillivan and friends never fail to entertain. This is part of our yearly holiday family tradition. We would not miss this. A variety of skits the showcased all players talents from song and dance to even magic! The unique holiday memories provided a nice touch of nostalgia at the close of the show. Can't wait until next year!

Knowing this show had been playing every December for the last 14 years, we were just never able to get there to see it. Finally we did and it's well worth the trip to Rockford. I think we will become regulars. Remarkable talent, good variety of "acts" and J.R.'s monologue was outstanding,

The additions of Miles Nielsen and Holland Zander were outstanding ingredients to this most wonderful Hometown Holiday recipe.

We are a Rockford newcomer and a Rockford lifer who experienced HH for the first time. We were amazed. The program's Christmas cheer and spectacular talent were worthy of our memories of televised variety shows with Bing, Andy and Perry. The troupe not only displayed their individual talents but also showcased cooperation and goodwill as they backed each other graciously. The Hometown Holiday experience has been added to our list of ongoing Holiday Traditions.
