Sons of the Sea

Sons of the Sea

BRANDON BOYD AND SONS OF THE SEA IN CONCERT:Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd is a man of many talents, and his new project Sons of the Sea, a collaboration with longtime Incubus producer Brendan O'Brien, is no exception. Featuring Boyd's signature vocals, Sons of the Sea shares little else with the edgy sound of Incubus, instead favoring a poppy and restrained sound that all but guarantees heavy radio play for their forthcoming album. That's not to say fans of Boyd's former exploits won't find much to love in Sons of the Sea — the band's 2014 shows are already drawing rave reviews from diehards, building excitement for their upcoming tour dates.BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:Brandon Boyd rose to mainstream success with alt-rock icons Incubus in the late '90s.

Seeing brandon Boyd in such an intimate venue was amazing! I have been an incubus fan for 18 year, seen them perform 8 times & mr Boyd NEVER disappoints! Being that close to him, the speakers etc was a wonderful experience that I will never forget.

From the opening band (Ken Kenney) to the encore, this show was stellar! The band sounded awesome and Brandon's vocals were perfect as we've come to expect! Can't believe I was able to see these guys in such a small venue!

Love Incubus. Love Sons of the Sea even more. If you have a chance to see him, no matter which band, do not miss Brandon Boyd. And what a treat to see him in a small venue (Belasco Theater, L.A.). He is a true professional and a class A performer. His technical singing ability, pure star power, passionate lyrics, and surprising twists and turns in the music are an absolute joy to experience.

I went alone to see my favorite singer with his new band, and it was amazing. I love The Fillmore, sound was great and the bartender and coat check gal were both very pleasant. Brandon and the band sounded awesome, and it was really cool to sing Happy Birthday to him. Had a very emotional moment during the song "Lady Black" that I will never forget. Thank you for a wonderful night in my favorite city with fantastic music!

Of course nothing beats standing next to the stage but the Belasco Theater isn't too big so anywhere you stand you have a pretty good view. I love Incubus so I would never in my life miss out on an incubus or Brandon Boyd concert! Whether it's an incubus or Brandon Boyd concert Brandon Boyd 's voice is amazing! He never let's me down and ALWAYS puts on a wonderful show. It was a great experience and I can't wait to see him live again!

Just loved every minute of the show from start to finish. Brandon transition to Son's of the Sea and another musical genre was seamless. The vocals were spot on, powerful and the set list was a nice mix of his first Solo Album, The Wild Trapeze and the new Album - Sons of the Sea. The band was tight and a great mix of musicians. LOVED THE SHOW. DJ Kilmore also from Incubus was entertaining and looked like he was having a great time. Would I go again...YES! Looking forward to when INCUBUS comes out with another album and want to catch them live.

Different from an incubus show, so intimate and just absolutely amazing. This is one of the most talented men I have ever seen... So glad he played songs from the wild trapeze as well. I could t have asked for a better night. The energy was so perfect.

I dropped a star purely because I am biased towards Incubus and I imagine most people coming to see Sons of the Sea are Incubus fans. Brandon was great, his band was good, I love the songs, especially the one's from Brandon's solo album. However, once you've seen the chemistry the Incubus guys have on stage, you can tell the lack of chemistry seeing Brandon play with others. It's hard not to compare the two. Also, the songs on the album are so full of these wonderful sounds that you just can't fully recreate on stage with a small band, so I missed some of that. If you can set that aside, though, it's a good time to be had. I would absolutely see Sons of the Sea again! I really enjoyed Kilmore's set as well.

Brandon Boyd and Brendan O'Brien have made a great album that translates into an even more amazing live show with Brandon and Sons of the Sea on point and unforgettable. It is one of the best live shows I have seen. Lots of young fans like myself who started listening to Brandon at age 7 or 8 and are still fans today - stretching and evolving with him and the new sounds. Opening act DJ Kilgore killed it too!

Brandon and Sons of the Sea were great. I believe that Brandon is an awesome front man to have. I absolutely loved the Belasco Theater because of the small venue and your chance to see your favorite singer up close. I would love to see them again!

Surprised my girlfriend with this show for valentines. We're huge Brandon Boyd fans. The show was amazing! The venue was perfect & acoustics on point! The setting was very intimate. Felt like a private show with the performers. Brandon & sons of the sea kept the crowed rocking! We purchased a CD at the show to come to find out it was autographed! That totally made our night! That right there builds fans that will continue following them for years to come. I'm still totally hyped about the show. I have the CD playing on repeat (full CD) in my car. Must go show! You won't regreat it and totally worth the great time you'll have. Fun memories! Keeping the venues small like this brings a better connection between the fans & the performers. Amazing!

I never had the chance to see Incubus live even though I've listened to their music from the beginning, but, this was just as good! Brandon has such a powerful and emotive voice that he sounds the same even with an entirely new band and new style! I'm really enjoying the new album and so glad I got to see him live!

Seeing Brandon outside of Incubus was a pleasent change. The entire band was very well put together and it was great to see the show in a small venue. I only wish it lasted more than an hour and 10 minutes. Good to hear songs from Trapeze as well!

Show was late to get started. He didn't go on until 8pm when the doors opened at 6. No opening act, so it was 2 straight hours of standing there waiting. In spite of that, the show was fantastic! Will definitely see him again!

This show totally blew me away! As a long time Incubus fan I was excited to see Brandon Boyd's new venture with Sons of the Sea. It made it even better that the opening act was Ben Kenney! I thought both sets were awesome and would highly recommend seeing both of them, whether it be separately or if you are lucky enough to catch both together again!!
