Amaranthe

Swedish metal fusion band Amaranthe has been making waves with their unique hybrid of power metal, pop music, and eurodance. Their intricate, sonically expansive compositions feature kaleidoscopic synths, aggressive guitars, growling male vocals, and the ethereal pop vocals of female clean vocalist Elize Ryd. These disparate elements fuse together perfectly at the group's jaw-dropping live shows, where their energy and technical virtuosity bring ambitious tracks like \"Hunger\" and  \"The Nexus\" to life. Fans of envelope-pushing, hair-raising metal won't want to miss Amaranthe on their upcoming tour dates.

This incredible show was at the House of Blues small room, the Bronze Pelican Room, which has a maximum capaity of 178. Being one of the first in line, I was able to secure my spot against the front barricade, center stage. Amaranthe was amazing in this intimate, up close and personal setting giving 110% on this night just as they do in front of festival crowds upwards of 20K-30K. Their energy-filled setlist included 19 of their best songs and a drum solo, including six awesome tracks from their new album, Massive Addictive. The fans in attendance were mostly loyal ones as they were singing along with nearly every song from the opener (Digital World) to "Hunger", "Invincible" and "The Nexus" to the smash ballad "Amaranthine". The intimate setting allowed the band to have many personal moments with their fans and they took full advantage of that. You could tell that despite the small crowd, Amaranthe was having a fantastic time playing their songs and entertaining their fans. I think it's safe to say that no one left the Bronze Pelican Room feeling short-changed on this night that belonged to AMARANTHE!

This is a band that has received a lot of hate in the metal community for their inclusion of electronic / pop elements in their music, but I've always loved their sound, even as far back as when you couldn't even buy their first CD in the states. Whether or not you enjoy their style, there should be no debate about the quality of their musicianship. They are an amazing, talented band, and their performance was completely off the charts. The three vocalists sounded great, just as good as they do on their albums, and the guitar playing and drumming were insane. I think critics should be made to attend at least one live show of Amaranthe's before they throw around their "not real metal" accusations. The band members are also quite funny and charming, and their personalities really shine through when they are addressing the crowd. I've seen Kamelot, Dragonforce, Epica, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Blind Guardian, Leave's Eyes, In This Moment, and others, and Amaranthe's show is one of my absolute favorites. Extremely recommended!

I loved the concert in general. It was in a small venue which allowed us tone close to the band members. The band interacted with the public and we even had a chance to take a pic and talk to them. The audio in general wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Besides that, everything was great.

Amaranthe and supporting bands including Citizen Zero and Smash into Pieces were great in NYC and Reading PA. Very happy I went to the tour finale, great show by all.

Couldn't of asked for more for their last stop on their US/Canada Tour. One of the best experiences i'll ever have, and can't wait for them to return in the future.

We were super stoked to see Amaranthe just to be let down by the venue. They couldn't get their sound right and had everything up so high (bass etc) that it drowned out the vocals! Super disappointed by the venue NOT the band(s).

First band of the night was very entertaining-from the drummer with the mask to the guitarist in the crowd. Failure Anthem seemed tired and ready for a break. Citizen Zero was talented, but I didn't want a kid to be singing. I guess thats cool for some people and the young man, but... Amaranthe was good and the talent was there. Not sure why the bassist was given all that time to talk to the crowd. I was there for music entertainment, not a comedy or story time show. As far as the venue? It was a great place for this sort of thing. Lots of parking, decent food at a very fair price and clean bathrooms. Beer was too high at 5 bucks for a small cup. Also, the sound wasn't good. I could hear the singers mics alot better to my left. Overall, I recommend and look forward to another visit.

This is my third time seeing Amaranthe live and they have been amazing each time. They are full of energy and really get involved with the crowd to get everyone moving around and singing.

Great venue, great show, great event staff. My only complaint is the horrible drunken woman standing next to me that kept flailing her arms in front of my face purposely to block my view.

I had been waiting since late last year to see these guys in concert. Though I felt that their performance should have been longer. They play great and it's the type of metal where you can still understand the singers as opposed to all the growling and roaring.

To start off, the venue was great as always, staff was pleasant, and drinks were served promptly. Besides the constant threat of venue being closed I really enjoy coming here. Lullwater was the opening act and they sounded really good. They just didn't have the stage presence that I come to shows to see. I really look forward to seeing them after they have had more experience and are more comfortable on stage. Next up were the Butcher Babies. As always they put on a great show. Constantly jumping around and getting fan interaction. Even the guitarist was hopping up on the ego risers to hype everyone up. After the show their line for the mercy booth was crazy. The band was back there signing stuff, taking photos, kissing babies. I was shocked to see how many people left after their set was over. Finally we get to the headliner Amaranthe. I won't lie, I was a little disappointed after being told how great they are live. I have a feeling that the small stage contributed to that though. They sounded really great though, almost studio. My biggest issue was that part way through the show they ended it, went off stage and then came back on to play more. It just felt really contrived.

Wow!!! What an awesome concert. Amaranthe put on a high energy performance. They interacted with crowd really well. I love their music and the mixture melodic power metal, pop metal, electronica, and growling vocals. One of the best live concerts I've been to.

Saw Amaranthe in the Houston House of Blues Peacock Room, Crowd was about 300 and very energetic. Sang every song very loudly and the band did not disappoint. They covered most of their albums in the hour and a half show. Love that 3 part harmony they do!

On a rainy, freezing Halloween night, Amaranthe seemed so out of place in such a small venue. Their presence and energy (and their clear professionalism and dedication to the sound of the show) lopsided the small crowd - probably with very little effort on their part. You can tell they held back a bit, but not lazily, of course. This is one of those bands that have it difficult in America due to the "new" type of music the U.S. so diligently propagates. That is very unfortunate, but that only adds to the loyalty of their fan base and adds to the intimacy of their shows... They are a top-notch band - and with their new album I suspect great success in other parts of the world where there isnt so much spoon-fed propaganda to the youth of the nation. God bless Europe! They have some incredible bands and Amaranthe is at the top of that list.

Doors opened 1.5 hours late due to issues with the sound system, the opening band was ok, but not a band I would run out and see...Amaranthe kicked ass despite the sound system issues. What I take much issue with it how loud they had things for such a small room...I am all for loud, but that room and that system (especially the system) was not built for such a volume assault. Things were pushed to the max where initially they were distorted, then only backed off enough not to distort...there was not enough headroom for even that as the sound was still noisy; one couldn't hear the music clearly.

The energy was simply amazing. Everyone that went knew all the songs, and they got to to play for almost an hour and 20 minutes. I got pretty close and I will go as far to say it was the best concert I have been to. I can only imagine that they will be better when they come through next time considering this time was their first amd it was a HUGE success.

The venue was small, nut that didn't take away from the wonderful experience. Amaranthe was great, the openers were okay, and the crowd was enthusiastic and receptive (which may be partially due to the bar within the venue). Overall it was a great experience and I can't wait for them to come back to North America!

The concert was great overall. The venue was rather small, which had an intimate feel, but Amaranthe still rocked out and gave an unforgettable show. The energy and mood of the crowd was also great and getting in and out of the event was seamless. The opening acts did not blow me away and they seemed a little louder than they needed to be.
