Henry Rollins spoken word is an experience to behold. Nearly 3 hours of amazing stories with slide show in the background fueled by Henry s travels to unusual places. Brilliant takes on life, science, travel and politics make this a must see show.

The show last night was amazing. He spoke for about 3 hours on topics ranging from politics to his travels and the adventures he has on them. My butt felt the 3 hours (the seats in the Theater were a wee bit uncomfy) but my attention span did not notice the 3 hours going by at all! I could listen to this man speak all day and night.

Another excellent performance from one of the modern marvels of the spoken word! This show was a little heavier on political commentary than I've heard before, but still a lot of fun. Always enjoy hearing stories from his travels across the world to the places I wish I had the time and money to go to and stories from back in his touring days.

Henry came out ready to go, but his banter was lacking this go-around. Walked out after about an hour ... too bad cause the man used to have it. Maybe it was an 'off night' for him?

I loved seeing Henry Rollins after 35 years. I first saw him in Atlanta at a small club when he was with Black Flag. He was intense then in the music, and is still intense in stand up. There were so many things that he said that I absolutely related to. He spoke about politics some and how important it is that everyone vote. He also spoke about his years in bands and some of the great people he has met along the way.

Herny Rollins was interesting. He had a lot on his mind. It was a couple hours of nonstop, rapid speach. I've been to see his spoken word before. His shows are usually filled with humorous anecdotes along with some food for thought. Henry Rollins wasn't as funny as I expected him to be. His stories kept my attention, and he had some interesting political points to make.

I haven't missed a spoken word tour in my area for the past two decades. Seeing his stories progress from entertaining tour stories to wry and intelligent messages from around the world and about the people he meets when traveling it has always been a comfort. After four years since the previous show, I was soooo ready, and Henry did not disappoint. After much anxiety following the 2016 election, Henry's perspective, humor and challenge to be a better citizen and human was balm for a weary mind.

It's not often that a person starts out by apologizing for not being in South Dakota more often and DOESN'T STOP TALKING for 2 1/2 hours. And that's not an insult. Henry Rollins is in a league of his own..to say he's a spoken word artist doesn't quite fit. He is a genius who has been everywhere, seen everything, and isn't afraid to tell it. The things that he says make you think about everything-the condition of our country, of ourselves, and how we can make our lives better. Mix that with wit, intelligence, and incredible humor (I laughed until I cried several times) and this is a show that you can't miss. Mr. Rollins is a legend in his own time, I just wish more people knew about him

After much debate with myself, since no one else at home wanted to go, I decided to get me a ticket and go solo. Fantastic decision! 2.5 hours straight of high energy talk about everything. Mr Rollins is a very interesting person and a very interested person. His insights and thoughts, his personal stories of celebs or penguins, his banter with the audience - even though we didn't talk back, kept me listening intently the entire time. If there is a next time soon, I will be making the kid (12 now) attend. I think he needs to hear and see and experience.

I've seen Henry Rollins spoken word tours several times over the years and he continues to amaze me. His self-deprecating style is sweet and entertaining. He tells terrific stories about the people he meets and the cultures he is exposed to on his travels around the world, along with some strolls down memory lane from his years in the music business. He talks for over two hours without taking a sip of water or a pause to collect his thoughts. Regardless of your political views or taste in music, I highly recommend seeing Henry whenever you get a chance.

For those of us that grew up being in the outside fringes of culture and music, Rollins is our silent leader. Speaking non-stop for two hours, filling our minds with stories of his travels, his adventures and his views. Not only does he make you laugh, but he also challenges your way of thinking. Do not miss him if he is close by.

Henry Rollins was in good form, but when isn't he? I have never seen him 'live' before and the energy and enthusiasm he brought to the stage was incredible. I will jump at the opportunity to see him again. The topics he covered ranged from politics (of course) to music stories, to...penguins. He is one of those rare people who can speak intelligently on seemingly any topic and he is able to inject his speech with humorous anecdotes that are usually self deprecating or at least not poking undue fun at others.

I've seen Henry Rollins at least 4 times in the last 20 years, I always enjoy his shows immensely. Henry's personality is very deceiving, in his books and spoken word performances (on CD) he comes off sounding so pissed off and brooding, but when you see his spoken word live shows, you get this very humble, down to earth, personable, madman. Henry just comes off as very knowledgeable without being conceited or talking down to his audience. Henry briefly addressed the recent election at this show and he was very diplomatic about the whole subject. He didn't say his views were right or that yours were wrong. He said life's too short to be hateful, racist, misogynistic, homophobic, etc. and that Donald Trump isn't going to ruin the country like a lot of people have been saying because he's a president and not a king and that congress will keep him in check. The rest of the show consisted of stories about his travels, his childhood, his friendships with Ru Paul, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Lemmy Kilmister, etc. Henry was onstage for 2 hours and 45 minutes, he definitely gave the audience their money's worth.

I bought tickets in June for my husband for Father's Day. He loves HR and would quote him when we were first dating. I have never seen him and only know his work from my husband. I was unsure what to expect, but I really enjoyed the show and found HR to be very inspiring with many of his topics. I have thought about the show and some things he said since we left. When I got the tickets - I had not thought of how close we would be seeing him after the election, and we were both a little worried it may be overly politically charged. We were happily surprised that it was not. Overall we had a wonderful time! My husband was happy, and I would definitely see him again.

This is the 2nd time in about 15 years that I've seen Henry Rollins perform his unique spoken word show and once again he did not disappoint. Henry comes out on stage, wraps the mic cord around his hand and is off and running for nearly 3 hours of opinions, storytelling and thought provoking questions that goes by so quickly it feels like about 30 minutes. His unassuming, self-proclaimed punk-rock ethos makes it easy to identify with him as an audience member as if he's one of your friends holding court in the break room. For someone with Rollins' intensity, it's kind of funny how even though he touches on some pretty heavy topics he goes the whole time without dropping profanity, apologizing before he does. It makes for almost a family-friendly show (but, again, the subject matter in a few places might be a bit much for the pre-teen and younger audience). You leave the show feeling a little better about the world and a little more empowered to make the changes we all know need to happen to keep us moving along as a society. Well worth the price of the ticket and the size of the venue was just right for the show - small enough for a communal feel, but big enough for some great cheers and a nice, loud, well-deserved standing ovation.

Henry Rollins show was three hours long and he was amazing, he's very insightful and he's very funny. I hope Henry comes back again soon, he'll be missed. He was great after the show too, my wife and I got our pics taken with him and he was very cool about it. He also signed my ticket, I'll be keeping that for atleast as long as I live. Yet again, Rollins delivers the goods! I have seen every one of his spoken words shows in STL since 1995 and I have never been let down! He weaves in and out from subject to subject like the threads of fine African tribalwear - taking the audience on a safari of the mind! It never ceases to amaze me how he can start one story, halfway through shift topics onto another story, jump out of that story onto another train of thought then systematically revisit each stop again to neatly finish the thought and complete the pictures in the mind's eye... all the while leaving everyone is stitches!!! One can not help but admire how he can talk for almost three hours, never take a drink, come off stage and less than 30 minutes later stand outside the venue for as long as it takes to meet with each one of the fans who stop by to say "hey"! Rollins is the man!

An educational and humbling look at the world that can make you look at it all a bit differently. A look at Henry's life, and the lives that he's collided with in his travels that can inspire you to get out and start really living yours. (And think about the impact you have, and can make for others.) This tour is over, but, if ever there is a return of this slideshow, I highly recommend it to everyone--not just fans of Henry. In his famous Espy's speech, Jim Valvano said there are three things everybody should do every day-think, laugh and cry. Henry Rollins made me do two of those three-laugh (a lot!) and think (also a lot). His photos were amazing-both the content (and the composition-you're nailing that!), and as the basis for the even more amazing stories he told about them. The tales of his travels around the globe were truly thought-provoking, as well as hilarious.

This is our 5th time seeing Henry Rollins in-person and this show was just amazing. Actually seeing pictures from his many global trips and hearing first-hand about each experience made this show stand out from the rest. Henry can paint a picture and set the stage with his descriptions to make you feel like you were there when he snapped the photo. His insights on the world are really humbling yet inspiring. I highly recommend this show to anyone regardless of their background or musical preference...Hank might have been the lead singer of a hard-core punk band, but his spoken word shows are worth seeing for all audiences. I've seen Henry many times over the years and have to say this was by far the best yet. To be able to see Henry's photographs of the over 90 countries he has visited on all seven continents is priceless. Henry's photographs and narrative show a side to these countries and cultures that most Americans will never otherwise see. Expect to learn, to be saddened, to be wowed and hopefully more sympathetic to the hardships many cultures around the world deal with everyday. But also expect to laugh a lot. Henry is the best and I recommend everyone see him if he comes anywhere near your town. And bring someone, anyone, young or old, with you that has never seen him before. They too will become a fan of Henry's talks. While you probably already know or can guess where Henry's political leanings are there is very little political talk so don't worry about anyone being offended by his views.

I had the good fortune of seeing him in concert in a small venue in Germany years ago and he was awesome. His passion for anything he does translates to going on a journey that you hope does not end. About 2 hours in t the show he said this is when I will start the encore and I looked at my daughter and said he just started I mean really it seems like I have been here 10 minutes. For myself who has very little attention span Mr. Rollins was that engrossing and spellbinding. Would go to see him again tomorrow.

At a time when he could have dwelt on the recent election, Henry kept the politics scattered and pretty even handed. Long live the P Generation. Rollins didn't disappoint as he slammed 2 1/2 hours of material in without break or water. I will catch him on tour any time he comes around and you should too.

Henry is not only a person, he is a force of overwhelming presence. If you like to have a laugh while being told the truth about various parts of the world in an entertaining fashion then go listen to this man live! I've seen him 3 times and view him as an outstanding stance on perspectives of life and virtues for the greater good without all that hippie shit!

My friend and I had a great time at Henry Rollin's spoken word show. He combines intelligence, humor and sincerity in a way no one else can. I would definitely see him again. The show is great for both fans of Rollins and people who aren't familiar with him.

This is the 6th time I have seen Hank do a spoken word performance and each time gets better and better. He speaks on such a wide array of topics that its difficult to understand how he keeps so much knowledge in his head! Non-stop heartfelt, entertaining and thought provoking stories for 3 hours straight.

Brilliant, charismatic and witty, he spoke for 2.5 hours without a break, and I still could have listened to him all night.

I went to see Henry Rollins spoken word show and it was awesome! Henry's performance of spoken word was funny, intelligent, clever and inspiring. He's incredibly smart and very socially aware which was refreshing, and still cool with a Punk Rocker attitude. He performed in such a down to earth way that it was like having a person conversation with one of your idols who became a new friend. Henry's show was brilliant. I'd see him again in a heartbeat. I would recommend this show to everyone!

Henry Rollins is a machine! He went on a few minutes past 7pm and he did not stop until 9:38pm. He didn't sit, he didn't take a drink of water. Rollins touched upon a wide array of topics instilling his opinions and sharing his beliefs all the while not trying to come across a arrogant or righteous. He kept the night upbeat, and wished his audience a good night. I could have stayed and listened to him for another 2 hours.

He never ceases to amaze me with his energy and attention to detail on stage. He's one of few people who can stand be on stage telling stories for 2 and a half hours! Seeing what an interesting life he's lived, it's inspiring to hear these tales of travel, music, and meeting some of his musical heroes. I would highly recommend doing yourself a favor and catching one of his shows.

excellent. 160 minutes straight without taking a sip of water. The guy is brilliant. Makes so much sense, connects all the dots, says what everyone wants to say, but can't find the words to say it. So many great stories. His musical references evoked such great memories. If your'e not a music fan, and arent aware of some punk/Hardcore historty - some of the stories may not be as impactful

Seeing Henry Rollins was a breath of fresh air from the current situation in our country. It was a great mix of humor, positive message, and a history of music through his eyes. This show will stick with me.

Henry was great. He talked about a little of everything the current election, his passion for music, his fling with Rupaul lol! (They are friends) and how to never stop progressing. If you can go see Henry Rollins you'll be glad you did.

Just not for me but I understand why so many people love seeing him. He is too long winded for me and after 2.5hr of non-stop regaling, ranting story telling I was exhausted and what made it two stars what that he didn't thread the needle very well and substantively I felt I got very little out of it but a few cool stories. Definitely a cool guy, I'm glad I went but won't do it again.

The Henry Rollins show is an intense barrage of extremely intelligent, screamingly funny commentary on life, ethics, morals, fierce independence, politics, interpersonal relationships, and of course, music. Henry's travel through our world keeps his viewpoint fresh and strikes wonderlust in my heart! You WILL laugh your booty off!!

Henry was on point the whole two and a half hours, and he was hillarious. I had second row seats, and I also paid for the VIP meet and greet experience / Q&A. Everyone had a great time and it was well worth it! My only gripe was with the seating at the Variety Playhouse. The chairs there have virtually no padding.

Henry Rollins is a force of nature. For two and a half hours, at breakneck speed, he managed to distill life into a series of stories and observations. I've seen him many times before, but this was one of his best performances, and possibly one of his most personal.

Henry Rollins came out like a lion ready to leap off the stage and never slowed down! His non-stop, brilliant social commentary and wit kept everyone glued to the edge of their seat. Even at the end of his performance, when he reminded the packed house (that had not gotten up once during the show) just how badly everyone had to pee, none could believe we had been sitting for as long as we had been. We could have listened to him for another 2 and a half hours. The newly renovated Variety Playhouse was the perfect venue for this amazing show!

The show was awesome! Henry has so much energy and enthusiasm. I wish he was more interactive with the audience (like stop the show take me on stage and profess his love for me...j/k...kinda). I could have listened to Henry for hours sharing his stories...the only issue is that the seats at the Variety Playhouse are EXTREMELY uncomfortable. Overall, awesome show...Rollins fans will not be disappointed!
