Blazing their own path with a keen eye for justice, Rising Appalachia put on a wonderful show, honoring folk music from different areas of the globe and sharing personal stories with the audience.

My daughter and myself attended. I haven't been to PCMH since it was The Venue and was pleased that the acoustics were still perfect for a show. I've seen many shows but PCMH is #1 in maine to see a show! Friendly staff and organic jams made for a perfect mother daughter weekend out in Portland Maine!

The high energy from the opening act, Bele Bele Women's Drumming Collective, set the stage for Rising Appalachia, and dancing occurred around the edges of the stage for the rest of the show! Leah and Chloe commenced their sister harmonies, meaningful original songs as well as American and international traditional tunes accompanied in creative ways by the bass, hand drums, guitar, violin and banjo. In this venue, where the audience is required to remain quiet during the performance, the beauty of their music and harmonies could be heard by all! This is truly a unique band with a unique sound and vision of building community and encouraging local food and health resources. An excellent show from start to finish! The porch music reference was used by Chloe to describe their music as it does not really fit into any other standard category.

brought a couple of doubters to the venue. As we were leaving, 4 out of 4 said the show was absolutely awesome, so yes, I'm the zen master talent scout, but Rising Appalachia makes any dumass capable of that. The whole show was 5 star rating

Soulful, sensual goodness. I see music like it's my job, and it's been a long time since I was met with such a spiritual experience. These girls and their band is full of raw talent, which sometimes seems a lost art in today's scene. It was effortless, and it was magical.

We drove an hour and a half to see this group. tickets stated 9 pm. Was most disappointed to discover upon arrival that RA was not even starting until 10 pm. Then was subjected to 30 minutes or so of The Most Depressing Singer in the World. People were yawning...a LOT. We listened to about an hour of the band then left, as it did not feel right. I think we were expecting more of a concert vibe rather than a bar vibe. That being said, the bar is beautiful, the dance floor is great, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. It's a great venue, we just wished we had known beforehand what to expect. Was looking for more of a concert/hippie vibe than a bar vibe.
