So sad to know this show is no longer on Broadway! This play was amazing!!' It was filled with passion and each performer was believable and convincing. It truly showed Tupac's music as a form of Poetry that everyone could relate to. It was gritty, Raw and real. I would've paid to see it again!

I saw Holler IF You Hear Me last night and I m inspired to Holler because I Heard. I heard the story and anguish of the plight of the young African American man trapped in the prison of urban ghetto violence. I heard the cries of the African American woman struggling to be respected through a genre that has profited by degrading her in the eyes of her own children. I heard the words of a modern prophet martyred not because of religion or civil rights but because of a capitalistic system that values dollars over souls. I heard MUSIC that resonated in my DNA to prove that dramatic story telling is not limited to the status quo. I heard an audience cheer and moan and clap and snap their fingers and grunt and shout and yell out Bravo because there arose a voice familiar enough to relate to in real life. I holler because last night I heard yall loud and clear. Yet in the midst of my own personal epiphany I couldn t help but notice those there who could not hear. The scripture came to mind from Matthew 11:15 He who has ears let him hear! Why could they not hear? Perhaps their inner eyes were blinded by the beat or the lack of extravagant costumes, sets or the expected spectacle that accompanies the thought of a Broadway Musical. Perhaps they remain closed minded to rap, hip-hop or urban noise and funk. Perhaps because they did grow up listening to Tupac or running the streets or dodging bullets to get home from school they just couldn t relate. Whatever the reason there remains a veil that dulls their senses and prevents them from hearing or relating to what was being so eloquently said. Theater is so much more than an art form. Theater is a cultural archive of society forever capturing a snapshot of a moment of time in history portraying who we are, where and how we live but most importantly what we feel. True Art forces you to feel something, ponder the moment and regurgitate those emotions over and over again. Therefore I Holler because I Heard You.

I was surprised at just how much I liked this show. As a 63 year old white broad, raised on classical music and show tunes, I hadn't thought this would be a good fit for me. However, I was hopeful that this would be this generation's Rent. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It has taken what Lin Manuel started in In the Heights and taken it that step further. The plot was predictable but interesting. The performances were first rate. Production values were high. I had been afraid that the sound would be blasting so much that I would miss the lyrics. That wasn't the case. I liked the choice of music so that not all the songs were pure rap. The brilliant Tonya Pinkins was under-used, but other than that, it was a terrific show.

I went to see "Holler If Ya Hear Me". The cast and musical arrangements were stellar. Every performer was exhilarating and gave their heart and soul. The storyline is one that will draw you in from the start. I grew up on Tupac Shakur (was in high school at the height of his career) and I liked some of his songs, but they took on new meaning when brought to life by Tony-Award-Winning-Director, Kenny Leon, and this extremely talented cast. The lead characters gave compassionate performances and the ensemble was incredible. I highly recommend this show to all theatre goers, as it is becoming an integral part of Musical Theatre.

Holler if Ya Hear Me delivered a positive message and encompassed Tupac's music in the manner it was always intended. It was not about his life but the life of minorities and the opportunities to make choices and changes. All-in-all it was amazing...I'd see it again!

I thought the script was disjointed especially in the first act. I couldn't follow what was going on! The second act improved but personally, I don't think it's a Broadway worthy production...off Broadway at best. The dancing, rappin and singing was excellent. Half of the comedic moments went completely over the audience's head. The story line was ok but they REALLY need to work on the script. I am disappointed...not Kenny Leon's best. Too bad they are billing it as the "Hip Hop Generation's Broadway debut." I am sure there are better scripts that would have a hip hop theme.

This "musical" is a disrespect to the lyrics of Tupac Shakur. Firt off, you cannot turn a gangster rapper's lyrics into a musical. It just simply will not fly based upon the language ("N" Word, sexual explicit words, etc.). To be short, it was just too flagrant. If anything, it would have been nice to see a "musical" on his life and not on his lyrics. I do not have anything negative to state regarding the cast per say. They did the job they were supposed to be which was sing gangster rap. In all, I see this play as an insult to Broadway and to Tupac in general. Please, no more of these kinds of shows. The venue was awesome (only bright moment).

Holler If You Hear Me was absolutely amazing. The cast is one of those lifetime ensembles that gels so well together it was if they had been working together for years. All of the cast members were incredibly skilled actors, and provided a WOW experience. They brought Tupac's words to life. I couldn't have asked for a better theatre experience.

Seeing Tupac's lyrics come to life on broadway stage was a great experience fore. I never thought that I would see true rap music in that fashion. The cast is talented and I found myself looking forward for the dialogue to end so I could hear them sing. However, I gotta be honest, it felt a little like a middle-school play. The story line was choppy and hard to follow. Certain elements of the musical didn't seem to fit with the lifestyle of the man. If the setting is early 90's, why is an iPod being given out and why is texting being discussed? I still don't understand who Benny was or why he died. And why did Saul William's character go to jail? Confusing. I was a little frustrated. But, when 'Calufornia Love' started playing, along with some if Pac's other greatest hits, I couldn't help but dance in my seat.

Why, oh why, didn't they put the lyrics atop the stage so an attendee could follow them (like the Met) as not everyone is familiar with them. They are what is great about the show. Set clever, but story line pretty ordinary and not up to the emotion behind the lyrics. Too bad - as lyrics had the making of a great show.

I've been to so many Broadway shows and this one rivals the best (Wicked, West Side Story, Hairspray, Dreamgirls, Chorus Line, etc) and surpasses most. At the same time that we were entertained we were educated, we were stirred up and deeply moved. Tupac's lyrics are outstanding and important. The cast is outstanding; great rap, acting and dancing (which I would have liked more of). Though there are lead characters this is really an ensemble piece and the way they've been directed makes everything feel real. The audience was invited into their world and schooled. My teenaged daughter and her friend loved it too. We all can't wait to go again.

yes some of the rappers were a little hard to understand, while others were great and so moving, so you are losing a lot of this amazing poetry...enjoyed the beautiful dance but would have even liked more, but maybe that would have dressed it up too much and we would have lost the message and the seriousness of what is being conveyed, although the dance was quite intense and mesmerizing and did support the show.

We were fortunate enough to see the last performance of "Holler If Ya Hear Me" on July 20th. It was simply amazing!!! The storyline, singing and dancing were phenominal and enjoyed by the entire audience who gave the performers a long, screaming, standing ovation. Very sad to hear we were viewing the final performance. The reviews did not do it well as I tried to get several additional family memebers to attend but they said the reviews were bad and they didn't want to take the risk. I quickly sent them a text after the show telling them what they missed. I hope you take this show on the road. Don't be discouraged, keep pushing!!!

Everyone should see Holler If Ya Hear Me! If you like the music and poetry of Tupac, you will definitely like the show. However, the storyline is what really drives the show as it addresses issues that are everyday struggles for many Americans. Hate to hear this play is closing. The play relates to current social problems our youths, young adults and parents face today, especially in the Black community. No matter how other ethnicities or races claim they experience racism, prejudice and discrimination, with employment, housing and education, the experience is nothing compared to an impoverish Black youth, male or female. Yes, today the Priviledge are experiencing the same dilemmas, but being white opens more doors, regardless if you have connections or not.

People questioned whether or not broadway was ready for hip hop, and the answer is YES! This play had a phenomenal story line that is culturally relevant and extremely intertaining. It epitomized musical talent, acting and dance, and the set design was spectacular. If you thought this was just Tupac on broadway, you were dead wrong (no offense). This is not your cliche love story, rooting for the underdog. You can develop a personal connection with each character, even the antagonist, and hope that no one else has to suffer. I look forward to more stories like this on broadway... stories that actually mean something to real people. Stories that empower us to do something positive in our communities. #HollerIfYaHearMe

A genius finally gets his due accolades for the ability to take the English language and finesse even the most raw and uncomfortable truths that must be told! Coupled with his unique "swagger", Tupac's art of storytelling was light years ahead of most of his peers, yet right on par w even some of today's most eloquent speakers. There should be college courses based on his writings to be culturally competent and interesting to diverse student bodies. I am thrilled to have gone to Broadway to experience this masterpiece. We, being of generation HipHop, saw the commercial ads for 'Holler If Ya Hear Me' and knew it was next on our list. The show didn't disappoint us and we were captured from the opening act . It was as if we had taken a trip back to the early 90's. The lyrics, sometimes sang, other times naturally rapped were a constant reminder of the greatness of Tupac as an artist and person. The back story, though familiar, was intriguing and held us. The actors were lively and the set was just as ordinary as any city environment that speaks of struggle, education, music, community, and love. It is a must see!!!

Whether you are a Tupac fan or not, Holler If Ya Hear Me is worth seeing. The singing, especially the women, is outstanding. The way Tupac's songs are interwoven into the story line is creative and powerful.

Saul Williams and company were amazing. Hip hop and Broadway are natural partners, and Holler If Ya Hear me is a great production.

The play was outstanding. It was more than what I expected. I recommended to everyone. Even if you not familiar with 2Pac's music or poetry. The storyline is a everyday struggle. It's a story that is everyone could relate in someway. A story that its always reported on a daily bases.

Familiar with Tupac Shakur but not his music. What a gifted poet and rapper he was. The play exposed me to his poetry and the story line was awesome. This play should be required for our young men and little old ladies like me who wish to expand their horizon. It was vibrant, moving and the talent first rate. Don't worry about where you sit - every seat is a good one. Disappointed that theater was not sold out. Every show should be!

I am so happy that I ignored the criticism and the questions of "what is this?" and "who should see this?" because I LOVED this musical. I will admit that the book isn't the best, but the music and musical arrangements were wonderful, as were the dancing, acting, and set design. To answer the question of "who should see this?" I'm going to go with anybody who has ever struggled to break out of the box society or their parents or they themselves put them in, anybody who understands that life can be complicated at times, anybody who has struggled to discover who they really are and what they value, anybody who has fought the system or wanted to fight the system or just questioned the system, and anybody who wants to have a great time at a Broadway show. I imagine there are quite a lot of people who fit into at least one of these buckets, so it's a shame that there's this sense now that only young people from the hood should see it, or only Tupac fans, or whatever else. I'm not that young, I'm not from the hood, I'm not even a big Tupac fan, but I still loved it and received the message it was sending loud and clear.

Music was great, and the message was powerful. We really enjoyed the play, but would not recommend for children due to language

wasn't sure how i would respond to Pac's music in a theatrical setting. I adjusted quickly as production was strong enough to carry the message but still present itself in a way that was enjoyable for both people who may or may not be familiar with "most" of Pac's writing. The production made a good attempt to show the struggle of opinions in his works. some technical issues with sound hear and there (mic drop outs) and some of the actors delivered lines stronger than others. overall a good show. I love seeing Hip hop music on Broadway. hopefully this wont be the last. Thanks

Great use of Tupac's lyrics. The cast was amazing and the delivery was just right. You don't have to be a Tupac fan to go see, but I'm sure you will become one after you do!

The entire show was great from beginning to end. It displayed how the decisions we make can impact the lives of others. The concept of change was also evident. Oftentimes we hear stories of violence in the community but never get to see that true happy ending. The music was orchestrated beautifully, I appreciated how Tupac's music was authentic throughout the show. Dyllon Burnside did a great job playing the role of Anthony, he displayed what many youth/young adults deal with and it felt very real. The entire cast was outstanding!

We enjoyed this show. It was a great message and it brought awareness to issues that have been ongoing in inner cities (violence, retaliation, money schemes, drug paraphernalia, peer pressures to conform to street life, incarceration, broken homes.. etc). It was great how the Director used Pac's lyrics to create the story; it definitely brought Tupac's words to life. I think everyone should give it a chance and let go of their ideology of what a Broadway show is suppose to be. You definitely have to be open and willing to step out of the box you've given yourself. These stories need to be told!

Was a little skeptical about seeing this play especially cause I didn't real know too much of what it was about, but I am definitely glad I went. The music & actors were amazing, the story line was great and kept my attention the whole way through. It's a play I would definitely go see again. 2Pac would be proud of how they represented his music in this play. A definite must see for everyone, no matter if your a 2Pac fan or not. This is an amazing play.
