The sound system and set up was perfect for the show! Dillinger and Periphery rocked the house as always. A few of the local bands were great as well.

Loved every moment of it! It still gets to me how Summer Slaughter not only when on without After the Burial and Obscura, but made the entire tour a tribute to the late Justin Lowe (may he rest in peace). The best band for me was easily Cattle Decapitation and I hope we get to see them in the near future. LONG LIVE METAL!!!!

The main reason me & my boyfriend attended the show was to see Cannibal Corpse. Even though the concerts began at 2pm, we arrived at 830pm, and landed up getting there at a perfect time. The place was CROWDED-- and the first concern that popped into my head was, fire hazard. BUT the crow was well behaved. Surprisingly we found a comfortable standing spot and enjoyed the show greatly!I was very impressed with the fact that there was no unruly folks. I also liked that there was in & out for smoking. And a huge area set up for purchasing souvenirs. Would totally recommend the show!!!

I am usually the oldest guy in the crowd...have been going with my middle son, since before he could drive.....Love Metal and the harder the better......Black Dahlia NEVER disappoints as I have seen them every time they have come to Houston....White Chapel and The Faceless were also awesome as I have been listening to them too but never seen them live. Acoustics were great, the crowd was good and the music was hard and loud. What more can be said; except I appreciate the number of bands in the line-up for the cost, but it's difficult to get there in time, for the first few bands, (who I heard were also excellent, deserve the fan support), but for those of us who had to work, if it could have started a bit later. I'm sure I missed out on some great music?

The most Extreme Tour of the Year didn't disappoint! I had a blast at a very intimate venue. My only issue was the upstairs section. It wasn't clear if we could hang out there or not.

For the most part this show was worth the $26.50, considering there were 10 bands all amounting to a very long show. I was familiar with all the bands so the results weren't above my expectations, but they were all solid.

Had a great time @ the show! The crowd was great and the pits were crazy! I drove 16 hours round trip to make it & I have not regrets except for not going crowd surfing! I had also never been to the Grove and LOVE this venue. It's very spacious and you won't feel squished. It's very easy to get around the venue and there's plenty of space to walk around and hang out w/people between bands. Overall I had a wonderful time and can't wait for Summer Slaughter 2012!

Pretty solid line-up... Especially for the younger guys. I expected more death metal style bands but I know promoters pick what's popular, not what is most brutal. Whitechapel would've been a great band 15 years ago, but I think their style along with the entire new genre of metal is very amateur and grossly conventional. My favorite was dying fetus and it seemed like they were the crowd pleasers as well... They deserved more than 30 minutes.

The summer slaughter tour was great. So many bands, so much heavy metal it rocked. The local bands came out and gave it their best and the headliners certainly rocked the crowd. It was good to see the local bands getting some play time for the fans. Really enjoyed the show, it was one day of full metal, great day!!!

This event was better overall in 2009. But, if you like the heavy stuf, it's hard to go wrong. In my personal opinion, the line-up starts out strong, gets weak in the midle, but the day ends with the last two amazing bands. But it's a fun concert with great music. Lots of growling, blast beast and triggered bass drums. What's not to love?

The sound was crappy, they tried to mix death metal and terrible core music, Decapitated and Vital Remains between those acts were nothing but tight girl pants and repetitive breakdown after breakdown after breakdown after breakdown. I cant emphasize how much I dont like breakdowns my metal. The best sounding band was The Faceless very clear. But rest of the show was muddy and unrecognizable. Screw core metal, and Death Metal dominates \\m/

I've been to a lot of concerts, but few had such a heavy hitting line up as this one. Despite a few local so-so opening bands, the main bands were phenomenal. I was banging my head the whole time, and now my neck is sore. It was a crazy fun night with moshpits galore, and good music.

Despite the last minute venue change (which probably made people not come), the Summer Slaughter Tour was phenomenal! Every single band that played put on a hell of a show and made sure everyone was having a hell of a time! I will definitely be going again next time they're around!

The show was amazing starting off with Rings Of Saturn Great Technical metal With Brutal Breakdown, Revocation kicked ass joints were lighting up during their set 3 in front of me Brutal circle Pit to top off their set I found 1 of the picks they threw on the floor so I was happy to receive my first pick from a band, Cattle Decapitation was probably the most Brutal part of the show mainly because they were the most brutal, Travis snorted his spit like always Lol During "Your Disposal" I screamed out at him to Snort it and he kept it didn't spit out Brutal Pit during their set, Aeon was Killer too Guitarist Had to do te vocals for the Lead singer that was ill, Periphery killed it too great set brutal mosh pit as well and The Dillinger Escape Plan killed it at the end of the show as well too bad they weren't allowed to jump off stage HOB Has a strict policy with Stage Diving anyway brutal moshing as well, Animals as leaders did a great set as well along with Norma Jean, The Ocean, and Thy Art Is Murder The Show was so BRUTAL that I called in injured 2 days straight at work because of all the slamming that happened In the pit.

Creative geniuses and true artists - DEP creates a high intensity rock show most rock bands only dream of achieving. Their music is not for everyone, but once you see them perform live you realize its something unique. Recommend their latest release, One of us is the Killer. The only downside was the venue was far too strict on crowd surfing and wouldn't let the band jump into the crowd as with other venues. I recommend catching DEP at a smaller venue with less restrictions. As for the other bands, I was only able to catch Animals as Leaders, Periphery and the end of Norma Jean - all great performances and talented bands. If you get a chance, look all these guys up!

I went there with the intention of seeing Cattle Decap, as well as Dillinger Escape. Basically the event was doomed the Monday prior to the event, when I went online to get a notion of when the bands might be appearing, in some order. Mind, I am hitting this venue en route between different cities, on a little "tour" of my own, I sing. Why is it these rock and roll guys never will commit to at least a rough time schedule for when these bands are going onstage? Summer Slaughter is not the only culprit here. When I arrived at the venue, they had some kids out there, looked like they were very young, and they were basically ushering the show, making sure you got in OK. It was a nice touch, and they did I think a pretty good, polite job of getting you in. Once in there, I ordered up some chicken tenders, interesting how you got them, you walked over to a different que, which posted the numbers digitally of which orders were up! They seemed organized, unlike the folks organizing the tour itself. Apart from you could peel paint with the chipotle sauce on the nuggets, it was such high octane, they were actually nice big pieces of chicken with a cute little roquefort and lettuce salad beneath, even a fork to eat it. Not bad! Again the venue seemed OK. Close as I got to a complaint about the venue is they need to make it clear how you got out of there, so I stumbled out into the smoking area where I stepped on a "slick" where some kids informed me somebody had just taken ill, undoubtedly from excess of drink; in all fairness the kids said it had just occurred, so it is conceiveable that nobody from the establishment had literally had time to come over and run a mop yet. I understand. So...I only got to see a band called (I think) Periphery, which I didn't see anything in the world wrong with them except its like going to a resaurant and getting something other than what you ordered...I don't care how good it is, when it comes out, if it is not what you ordered you are not going to like it. Basically the folks hosting the event wasted my $36, not to mention my time which is even more valuable to me, as I'll never get it back. If there was a band lineup with approximate times onstage - prior to the event - I missed it, and in that case I apologize for the remarks. Not everyone has time to lolli-gag around the venue for hours on end, I was due somewhere else up the road that night, and time is $! Good balcony above, lighting and sound quality perfectly on cue.

Great venue, clear sound (some bands had sound issues which were quickly addressed and fixed after the first or second song), very nice environment (the venue is in Downtown Disney). I'm not a smoker so I personally enjoyed that smoking wasn't aloud BUT! There was a designated smoking section for those who do. Also it was great that water was provided.

WIth the exception of Norma Jean, every band was amazing. For those of you rude people that fled immediately following Animals As Leaders, you missed what was without question the best band of the evening. It is this crap that Florida crowds do that makes so many bands skip Florida altogether when touring. I've seen shows all over the country and it is not like this elsewhere, at least not that I have seen. Congrats DEP, you were amazing yet again.

Cannibal Corpse is the only reason I bought tickets to this tour. If they didn't headline I wouldn't have went. I love the Fillmore for their in-and-out policy, especially if your going to a show that starts at 3pm and ends 12am. Don't miss CC when they come through your area!

Great show at a great venue, House of Blues Chicago! This years tour had a good mix of traditional Death metal and new. Veil of Maya and Periphery stole the show with a new take on metal, talent and technical musicianship. Put into this group The Faceless who to this ear brought back shadows of Chuck Schuldiner (gone too soon). The amount of notes that The Faceless put out in any given song (done so flawlessly) is incredible. Between The Barried and Me was much anticipated by the group of people I was with and BTBAM did not disappoint. On the more traditional side the standouts were Goat Whore and Job For A Cowboy. If a person has never seen either of these bands you have missed out! Cerebral Bore was energetic, focused and entertaining. And hey, Cannibal Corpse nuff said ok! If I have left anyone out thumbs up to you job well done. Kuddos to the staff at HOB Chicago.

This concert was pretty amazing! The first few bands (Cerebral Bore, Exhumed, Goatwhore) was pure noise, though; couldn't even get the crowd pumped. This concert really got started when Job For A Cowboy, the fifth band on the tour, went on stage! Crazy set for the right tour! Veil of Maya the crowd even more hyped! Periphery, one o the bands I REALLY came to see, was beyond expectation, ESPECIALLY since Sponce's voice has improved immensely AND their new album was bound to be part of their set! The Faceless was unbelievable, but truth be told, even though their better than Veil of Maya, Veil Of Maya got me hyped better. And finally the act I've really wanted to see, Between the Buried and Me! What else can I say they're friggin amazing musicians who know how to put on a live show! They played some of their old, one of their newest. Best scenario would have been instead of an hour long set, an hour and half... or two... or maybe three? Whatever BtBaM, was my main event and I didn't even stick around for Cannibal Corpse.

It's hard to go wrong with an all-afternoon extreme metal festival featuring some of the legends of the genre with its rising stars. This should have been cake for the Masquerade, which has put on so many similar shows. I don't know what it is about the last couple of months, but it seems like every major venue in Atl has forgotten how to queue people. Both the Masq and Lakewood screwed up early entry, and I don't recall ever standing in a line quite like what we had last Wednesday. The Masq moved a way bigger crowd way faster for BLS in 2010. What the hell happened? The show itself was good, overall. Exhumed had the best performance of the night. Cannibal Corpse might have gotten too old for this. Extreme metal doesn't usually "park and bark" but there was CC, rooted to their spots onstage as if they were planted there. I watched the pit through their set, because that's where the real energy in the room was.

Goatwhore and Exhumed were awesome! Had a great time, but I didn't care for a couple of the other bands too much. No fault to the venue or the bands, but the show would have been much better if some idiot didn't make a threat that got all of us pushed out onto the street in Ybor for over an hour.
