Spencer Albee

When I was young I was easily swept away by the lights and virtual fireworks of a large rock concert. As the years go by and I grow older I find it harder and harder to be truly impressed by live concert performances. Not that I don't enjoy them, but it is as though I have grown accustomed to the lights and big sound and I am looking for the human error in everything, finding it harder and harder to rekindle the magic of those uplifting feelings I felt as a young man. This show was a return to those younger days. The spirit of the show, the incredibly tight and precise performances by all the incredibly talented artists. The artistry of the lights and sound, and above all the sense of paying tribute to the great music of the Beatles in a way only these performers could. They owned the songs and were on fire! I will be making this an annual pilgrimage. Rolling Stone was right for once!

What a joyous and bittersweet tribute to an astonishing life well lived and ended too soon.

I have early memories of seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. My older brother played every new Beatles album over and over and over..... I am familiar with every note and nuance of their songs. So, as a discerning Beatles fan, I was somewhat skeptical. Although I had heard about this annual show for many years, and wanted to see it myself, this was the first year I attended. Once I got over the realization that this was not the Beatles, nor were the band members pretending to be them, I started to get into it. I quickly realized that the quality of the musicianship was excellent and having the string quartet and the horn section was great. These people had obviously worked very hard to prepare for this performance. Overall, I thought the show was fantastic, as did my two sons, who are in their early 20's. I'm so glad there are talented musicians like this that are keeping this great music alive. I was struck by the fact that the Beatles never performed many of their songs live- so sad! Hearing these studio songs done live, though, drove home the fact that these are great rock & roll songs and should be heard live. Thanks to all of the band members for putting on this special performance. I hope to attend again next year.

I have been to numerous Beatles shows from simple shows to the highly acclaimed shows. Spencer Albee and Friends puts them all to shame and you cannot even compare with the ticket price as well. The only thing I regret is that I missed the previous 11 years. Seven exceptionally talented band member, 2 guest singers, 5 classical string instruments, 5 horns & 3 snare drums. 22 people playing for near 2 hours and 20 minutes without a break. For only $20.00.

It was a great environment for everyone and everyone was having a great time! I definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone. It wasn't like most concerts I have been to where everyone is fighting and pushing. Everyone at Beatles night was laid back and nice. Very fun night of dancing and singing along :)

The highest levels of musicianship I've seen in a long time. Even the lighting was over the top! Portland surely has a great music scene!

I had never been to a show at the State Theatre and it's been many years since I have been to a rock concert so this was a treat for me all around. The theatre has character, plain and simple, and the acoustics were great. I had forgotten how loud these things could be but I loved it! The band performed a wide variety of Beatles music as well as songs done by Paul, John and George individually. While I would have preferred to hear more of the Beatles' hit songs, I still enjoyed the show. I know that some people were disappointed by this because they had never heard such songs as "Jealous Guy" or "Wah Wah". I feel that any Beatles music is good music! Spencer Albee was very entertaining as an emcee and he is a very talented musician and singer...as are the other members of the band. Great show. My only complaint was with the seating.

Wonderful performers in a great venue. Loved the lighting effects. It was a program that spanned generations from the youngsters bopping about on the open floor to the grey hairs bobbing their heads to the rhythm of the classic Beatles music. Exciting way to initiate the holiday festivities.

These local Portland musicians put their hearts and souls into this thoroughly enjoyable show!

Fabulous show. The voices, choices, instruments.....a great show. Family friendly kept it all at a casual level. Very nice.

spencer and friends put on another great show! only the real beatles could have done better?though it is sad some are leaving for ny ?

All in all it was a great event. They played many good songs, however there were 3 songs that we didn't know. One of which was a John Lennon song, which was way too loud. What we loved was that multiple people sang different songs and the song choice for each person seemed very well fit. Because it was before Christmas, it would have been nice to hear a Christmas song.

great entrance...really enjoyed the variety this year especially solo George Harrison songs...will miss Sean, Chuck and SHR!

Music was great! Price of event superb....seats are too crowded together and uncomfortable.

These tickets were a Christmas present for my disabled brother and his disabled girlfriend. They planned their arrival for shortly after doors opened, which ticket said was 7pm. At 7:55 they were still waiting for the doors to open and they were in too much pain to stand in the cold on cold pavement any longer. Very disappointed that the tickets had wrong info and they didn't get to see the show. Should've known there is no truth in advertising. If doors aren't going to open to let people in when ticket said why bother putting info on the ticket at all???!

the show was incredible however the volume of the music overpowered much of the lyrics in some of the numbers...this is something we have noticed w/ other shows in the past. At first I used to think it was an acoustics thing but I've seen other shows where this was not the case...even within this show there were a number of the songs that while still being loud there seemed to be a balance...Aside from this the show was truly amazing!

Amazing show with many talented musicians. Will go see every year.

If only I could find the perfect word to describe the night... Absolutely, positively, amazing group of talented musicians playing tribute to the legends.
