Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminls brought the HOB down with this rocking show in this small venue. If only all large touringz acts would play theses small venues!

Ben Harper and his Innocent Criminals were AMAZING!!! They pulled out all the stops and performed BEYOND PERFECTION!!! BUT...the St. Louis audience was RUDE and NOISY...as is typical at the Pageant. You bought a reserved seat ticket...SIT IN YOUR SEAT and SHUT UP!!! The Pageant crowd has to be the chattiest bunch of alcohol suckers on the planet!!! Why did you buy a ticket if all you're going to do is get drunk and talk...THROUGH THE ENTIRE SHOW!!!! There are waitresses working the balcony seats...they're there to serve you drinks IN YOUR SEAT!!! Every time I see a show at the Pageant...except for Iron & Wine...the chatty-ass crowd always brings the experience down a notch! DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, PAGEANT MANAGEMENT!!!!

If you enjoy live music played by multi-instrumentalists who clearly enjoy the art, go see Ben Harper. The bonus on this event was that he played with the original group, "the innocent criminals" for the first time in a very very long time. Ben's vocals are transcending. His voice penetrates deeply and you can't take your eyes off of him. He was communicative and engaging throughout the performance. His band mates were phenomenal, especially his bassist (Juan Nelson) and percussionist (Leon Mobley). I couldn't wait for the next instrumental interlude or solo as I watched the show because each was pitch perfect, timed right and funky. They played for two hours. I'd expected the show to end by 11, but we didn't leave until after midnight. At the end of the show, the band was genuinely appreciative of our admiration and I could feel the love. I know they could as well. I'm so glad I caught this tour. Can't wait to see the next show.

I have been a huge fan of Ben Harper since around 1994 and have introduced hundreds of people to his music. I finally had an opportunity to see him live in Dallas and can only describe it as disappointing. He seemed to rush through the set like he really didn't want to be there and then stopped to take a short rant about politics. He even went as far as to reprimand the citizens of Dallas for there being a tattered flag at the Kennedy Memorial. I love the venue, but the sound quality has been consistently terrible. This concert was no different. It almost sounded like you were listening to it underwater where everything gets all jarbled together. We actually decided to leave early because of the experience. All around disappointing.

It was a magical evening. The first half Ben played with his band - the Innocent Criminals. Their performance was top notch. Ben is stunning on the slide guitar. The bass guitarist was soulful and groovy. Loved it and so did my friend! The second half was a complete surprise - Ben played with an orchestra and WOW it was awesome. He really showed off his talent and his beautiful soul. His music has such wonderful messages. The opening act was City and Colour - he was terrific. Loved his music as well. I want to see him again.

There was little engagement with the audience by Mr. Harper (which is fairly common I'm told), and the band seemed low energy, so it was hard to have those magical "connecting" moments one craves in a live performance. I still love his voice and the quality of musicianship. I enjoyed the evening.

Show was great, we love Ben and he along with the Innocent Criminals and the LA Philharmonic put on a beautiful show. However, we seemed to be surrounded by people that would have rather been in a coffee shop gossiping. Many times we had to ask if they would juts be quiet and enjoy the show. It was super annoying and I hope that when folks go to a show they go for the music to catch up on who broke up with who.

It was one of the most boring concern I have ever been. I get it they are promoting their new album, but audience still expecting for old songs as well. I wish they had played couple more old songs and had the LA phylarmonic only played Ben Harper songs, making it more full of songs details. And not have sooo much time for the phylarmonic play their orchestra songs. After all, we went to see Ben Harper.

Maybe it's been awhile since I've been to a BH concert, but concertgoers would not shut up. It seemed that people were either not that into BH, or the LA Phil accompanying him. I thought it was an awesome show, but the crowd was a different vibe than what I remember from other concerts. I felt like I was at some cafe and the music was just background, not the main event. I understand people talk, but the amount and the volume really took away from the performance. Past performances people were way more into him- the Greek, the Orpheum, you name it. Not here.

Opening act was too long and really boring. Venue was way too big for him. When Ben FINALLY came on, he played half his set with the LA Philharmonic. I enjoyed it but it was at the expense of his more rousing anthems. Made me sorry I'd sold my tickets to see him the next night in Santa Barbara. I will never miss a Ben Harper concert but I'd give this one a C. I like the new songs, though.

It took Ben a few songs to warm up but the show really got going after that. So much fun and all the band members looked like they were really having a blast. Good mix of old and new songs. Ben chatted up the audience which was fun. He also reminded everyone to tip their bartenders which was sweet. They played for nearly 2.5 hours. Thanks for playing Burn One Down!

I actually saw Ben Harper at the Mountain Winery, a place that middle aged women and other yuppie types love, but not I. It just does not attract a rock and roll crowd. Ben Harper played a mostly non-rock and roll set to an entirely seated audience and, quite frankly, it sucked. I thought I'd hear more of Harper's hits and more of an upbeat set than he played. If this were going to be typical of his concerts going forward, I'd never see him again. That said, I think it just typified his most recent CD release; Call It What It Is. Well, I'm calling it what it is and it was a poor show and Harper elicited a tepid response from the crowd for most of the night. One thing for certain, this was definitely not Live From Mars!!!!

Ben Harper is both a great performer and a charming person. It was one of my favorite shows this year
I had not seen ghe band live and they were incredible.!!!!!!! Also thr event venue alwAys lives up to courtesy, friendliness, and total assitance to me as neing disabled!!!!!
Ben did a wonderful job interacting with the crowd. He told stories and had the audience in his hands. Hearing the songs from the new album was great, I really enjoyed them.
This was my first time seeing Ben Harper. He has a diverse package of songs and he played a wide range of different material. The beginning of the show was great. The end of the show a little less interesting. The encores were strong to bookend the excellent beginning. He played a lot of his new material, which was quite good. The beginning was high energy. The end of the regular show devolved a little into extended jams that seemed to kill some of the energy in the room. I enjoyed listening to his music, but I felt there was far too much talking between the songs. He has a great sense of humor and some of the discussions set a context for the next song, but the total took away from playing an extra song or two.
I've seen Ben 5 or 6 times over the last 14 years and this was the best he's been. Seemed to be such a special vibe that the band was shaken and had to take a few moments to regroup. Highly recommended.
Excellent show. Set list was a great combination of old and new. Ben was very engaged with the crowd and played for quite a while. Money well spent.

This was the seventh time I have seen Ben Harper over 10 years. I have seen many concerts and no one, I mean NO ONE compares to Ben. He has a soul and passion that other artists wish they had. He plays slide like no other and has the voice of a god!!! He is my favorite singer and I always cry at his shows purely because his passion affects the entire audience. This was an awesome show! This was my second time seeing them, and like before, simply amazing. Ben is such a genuine person and it comes through in his music. He even went without a microphone and just sang to the audience. I don't remember what song, but I really felt his passion. The band was amazing as well. For two of the songs toward the end, they jammed for over 20 minutes. Bass solo was dope, as well as the piano/organ solo. They played for over two hours and captivated the audience the whole time. The openers, The Jack Moves, were also very a very talented and soulful act. I would definitely love to see them again and would recommend to anyone that has a passion for music of this type.

Ben Harper and ensemble were excellent. Wonderful sound and show. He's not an entertainer who does much crowd engagement. My opinion is that he's so immersed in the craft he's lost in it. He came to at the end and spoke a bit. They did an encore that was also excellent ...and appreciated. Couple songs I wish they had done but you can't get them all. The venue: not sure I will ever again go to a house of blues Boston show. The mezzanine level is a scam. Unless you are greater than 6 feet you probably won't get a great view of at all. I'm a 5'6" woman. Over $60 for a ticket and I couldn't even see the performer - only in lucky glimpses. Most ticket buyers likely have no idea. It's highway robbery and an outrage. The owners need to improve. And the flat screen tvs airing the show are terrible quality.

We love coming to St Louis to the Pageant to see shows. Coming from Nashville, TN, where we have lots of great music venues, I can honestly say that coming to the Pageant is always a treat, as we have nothing similar to it in Music City. Ben Harper is one of my favorite artists, and he never disappoints. He engages the audience, and plays songs from ALL of his albums, which is always a treat, as no two shows of his are ever the same. We loved that his encore started off with just him, while his band took a break. Also showcases what an outstanding musician he truly is. We will catch him again on his next tour, although my husband and I hope that Nashville will be on his next tour list as a stop.

Ive seen ben 5 or 6 times. This was the best setlist. Because I love all his music and it seemed he played at least one song from most albums. The band was tight. Sound wise the vocals sounded great. The instrumentation could've sounded better. His voice was at 90 % sensing some fatigue. I would like to see ben interact with the crowd more and extend songs put with crowd interactions. But this show was great. I danced most of the night. Felt like I couldn't light up a joint but the venue was nice.

Although Hard Rock Live is not the best concert venue and there were definitely sound problems, especially early on in the show, with the organ overpowering all the rest of the band and almost completely drowning out Ben Harpers beautiful voice...they fixed what they could and put on an incredible show! Ben Harper is at his best acoustically. His voice is like an angel and he has mad guitar skills. As the show progressed the sound of the band got better and as Ben Harper got full out into his lyrically driven songs, his voice spoke to your soul! The show had an incredible encore...almost its' own set! He is Legend!

Ben is always a great performer, truly connecting with the crowd. This show was nothing short of spectacular. He is a multi-faceted performer, and there was something for everyone: hard rocking anthems, slowed down love songs, and completely unique instrumentals. The band was on point, too - especially Juan and Leon (of whom Ben said, "You will not find ANYONE who plays THAT instrument like THAT man," and he was absolutely right!). Really, really good show.

Ben Harper knows how to please a crowd! He is truly in his element as he brings you through a vast catalogue of music that spans every genre. There is no doubt he appreciates his crowd. If he could, I think he would make eye contact with every person there. This was my 5th BH show. Except for a watered down set at 420 Fest last year, he never disappoints! I brought 3 friends who had never seen Ben before, and we now have 3 converts to gospel of Ben Harper. The only thing missing was one or two more of his spot-on covers. (Not that playing CSN &Y wasn't appreciated.) Every time he is in town is a treat!
