Three bands all bringing it. Such accomplished players having fun together. Petrucci's band had the best sound mix. The jam at the end was fun. No sense of competition.

My girlfriend and I made the 3 hour drive to Reno to see G3 and it was worth every minute. Joe Satriani is a true guitar God. Just never gets old watching him shred an axe like that. Truly impressive. He is to a guitar what Neil Peart is to a drum set. John Petrucci had a great set as well and he had his Dream Theatre drummer playing with him. His riffs were clean, fast and very much with a Dream Theatre vibe. Phil Cullen was just ok. Not quite as clean (for lack or a better term). Would have been nice to hear a couple for Def Leppard melodies in his set somewhere. That probably would have made a difference. Overall, great show, awesome venue, would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Don t get me wrong the show was great but left 2 songs into Satriani s set because of a really drunk couple sitting next to me. Plus the guy passed out halfway through the second group and he was very large in size and took up half of my chair. I just couldn t take it anymore, which really bummed me out, oh and the guy really needed a shower.

Phil Collen set the bar very high with his opening set of guitar wizardry, then John Petrucci stepped it up to another level of amazing mastery! But when Joe Satriani did his set playing a song from most of his Records and his new Album, it was obvious he was the Master of the Guitar Wizards

This was a total disappointment. The sound was awful the whole night. It got a bit better, but was still painfully loud and poor quality. The acts were poorly rehearsed, and there was almost no showmanship or charisma among the performers. The tickets weren't cheap, and I felt badly for people who spent a considerable amount of money for the good seats. The artists relied way too much on the fact that they are good guitarists without practicing together or making sure the sound was right for an audience. Joe Satriani looked like a tool in his glasses all night. They all apologized for the poor set up and lack of rehearsal and gave the excuse that it was the first performance of the tour, but if this was a practice run I shouldn't have had to pay for it. There was a line around the block to get inside the rundown venue. The seats were tight and uncomfortable, and the audience members were distracting by taking flash photos and long videos.

Great multi-artist show. You can't beat the value and experience with these 3 or more guitarist presentations. Seeing Joe live has been on my must do list for a while now, and he didn't disappoint! Petrucci also great live - a technical master - peerless. Honourable mention to JP's rhythm section, they were the best of the night. I've never seen a more emotive drummer than Mangini; just wicked. Phil and his blues collection were great too, and the jam was obviously a highlight. We've seen a lot of shows, and agreed that this was up there with the best.

Being a fan of Satriani for probably 20+ years, but never seeing him live in person, I didn t know what to expect. I was hoping his work was not smothered in studio rework, and the amazing live tracks I do hear aren t one in a million. Joe was amazing, looking like he was having the time of his life, and giving me the time of my life. The show was simple yet so enjoyable. Pure music. He hit the best songs- everything I was hoping to hear, although I could listen to him for days. The show was amazing, and I will see him every time he comes to town for sure.

Phenomenal guitar gods that put in one hell of show! The experience is incredible and they didn t cut anyone short of time for their ticket price. 3 1/2 hours of pure bliss. My only wish is we could video, most concerts allow and I would pay to see them live again anyway. It s just having that experience to look back on that would be nice. Other concerts allow it but I get why they prefer it not to be. Definitely worth admission price and they do not disappoint!!

I ve seen Joe Satriani several times, but I didn t see him this night\u2026 because John Petrucci (who I ve also seen before) was so intensely, monstrously loud, with a terrible, shrill, toneless mix, that I left during the third song of his set to save my hearing. (And yes I WAS wearing earplugs.) Phil Collen s Delta Deep band was great though \u2014 and no earplugs required. The 4-star rating is for the venue, since that s what TM asked for. I d give this event 2 stars.

I loved the 3 I thought Collen was an incredibly technical guitarists but was a little shy on material. The other 2 were master's. I was disappointed that Satriani didnt play more of his classic stuff from his catalog of music. It was a great experience to sees G3 at the Chicago Theater. I have heard the earlier G3 concerts only on CD and just to be part of it was an unbelievable experience. And the venue could not have been better. Having 3 of some of the world's best guitarists jamming on stage is unparalleled. Thanks to Satriani for putting this together. Hoping to see Satriani and Malmstein back in the next G3 production and hoping they do it at the Chicago Theater. I was there with my wife and 8 year old son and we couldn't have asked for a better show.

The Meet and great cost $750 for two tickets. What I received was a bag, a signed poster, and meeting them for a total of 15 seconds. Moreover, there a roadie informed us that they were playing a very short set tonight because of the casino. The opening guitarist, Phil Collin, played a 20 minute set and Petrucci about 30 minutes. Satriani may have played 40 minutes. Following this, they all three play for about 18 minutes. The musicianship was excellent from Satriani and Petrucci but Collen was clearly out of his element relying way too much on tremolo picking to keep up. I was expecting a classy meet and greet ala Vai who actually talks with you in a comfortable atmosphere allowing you to interact and take photos. No photos were allowed. All in all, we felt rushed and ripped. Stay away.

This is not my first G3 show. I m seen a number of them over the years featuring Yngwie, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson etc. Always great shows and worth the ticket! This year s lineup, Phil Collen from Def Leppard opened and he was doing some bluesy music, heavy on the arpeggios with a female vocalist. Do Def Leppard stuff. Then Petrucci came out to show his stuff. All instrumental music, lots of fast up & down the fretboard. Joe does the best set in my opinion because his music is more melodic but still all instrumental until the end when all 3 guys come out and play together. They brought out a special guest to sing a few songs, the great Glenn Hughes from DP. He sang Highway Star (Deep Purple), Superstition (Stevie Wonder) and Going Down (Freddie King) along with the female singer from Phil s set.

Satriani was touring with the band from his new album, What's Next, and he was joined by two groups formed by members of Def Leppard and Dream Theater. First up was Phil Collen of Def Leppard with a bassist, drummer, and blues singer, playing as "Delta Deep." Excellent guitar work, but the mixing had the lead guitar drowning out the singer. Second was John Petrucci of Dream Theater, with their drummer and a bassist. Truly excellent music and the best mixing of the evening. After the interval Joe Satriani and his band were up, which included the drummer from Red Hot Chili Peppers, a great bassist, and a guy mixing it up between guitar and keyboard. Final half hour, Collen, Petrucci, and the blues singer joined Joe's band for a jam session. Guitars drowned out the singer somewhat. All in all more than three hours of great music in a 3 1/2 hour show. Great lighting, too. Terrific show, great venue, would go again.

We arrived in time when my first favourite guitarist ever, Phil Collen, hit the stage with Delta Deep. Fronted by Debi Blackwell Cook, we were treated to some fine twelve bar blues. Very cool to see Phil in another setting playing a style of music different from his work with Def Leppard! His singing contributions were just as jaw dropping as well! John Petrucci followed with a prog metal set against a kaleidoscopic backdrop and Joe Satriani in tandem with his furious yet ever melodic space age sounding method of attack! Great closing out of the program with all the artists performing onstage for the encore!

G3 was amazing! Phil's band Delta Deep was phenomenal. Debbi's voice is spectacular. John Petrucci was my favorite player of the night. I wasn't going for him, but he blew me away. Joe Satriani was indescribably good. I stood up on the front row and danced along to "Satch Boogie" - and I could tell that he appreciated my enthusiasm. The G3 collaboration and jams at the end of the show was a big WOW. The were collaborative and not competitive in any way. The most amazing thing - all three gave me their picks they played with during the show. I am still beside myself with excitement from that!

Each guitarist took on a set of several of their own songs, then they all played together for the final set. I would've preferred to have each guitarist do 3 songs, then extend the time the three of them play together. Without a doubt, these guys were awesome. Having Glen Hughes on stage was a bonus. My main complaint is that the volume was way too loud. I estimate we were hit with 110 decibels, for a couple of hours. That distracted from an otherwise excellent performance.

I have seen 3 concerts in the last year. Every single one of them has been awesome. Only one of them was I a big time Fan. (Dream Theater), but with the other 2 concerts, I walked away having had just as much fun. I have been to both set-ups. two with GA standing in the Pit ( we had elbows on the stage) and one when they have put seating in the Pit. The seats were super comfortable and spacious. (They were the same style as the rest of the Venue, not folding chairs as some use). The 3 of us are tall who went and sat, with the tallest 6'5" and room for all. Even cocktail service in the Orchestra level seats. The sound - perfect. If you go to a rock concert, loud is a must. The sound was loud and clean, no distortion. This is a Fantastic place to see a concert!

The G3 show at the NJPAC on Feb. 18. I was looking forward to this show as my first experience with Joe Satriani's tours with other guitarists. I am 60 years old and a past fan of Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Santana etc. you get the picture. This show, for me, lacked melody, sound quality, was way too loud and after a while all the songs sounded the same. Too much sustain, too much distortion, too much volume. These guitarists are top musicians but it was hard to appreciate that with the overload of sound which covered up the drums, bass and any vocal that might have happened. Sorry but I would not go see another one of these shows.

Finally got to see the mighty Satriani last Friday with the other 2 G3s. Amazing! It's rare you get to watch one of the best in the world do his/her craft live. Such was the case watching Satriani. Just awesome! If you get the chance to catch him on this tour or his next, DO IT! If you get to see him at the Beacon in NYC...DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO DO IT! You can thank me later....

Satch was outstanding as usual, John was great, and Phil was very good. Then the jam at the end with Glenn Hughes was very cool.

It was a great show despite some spaz in front of me who couldn't sit still or shut up. John Petrucci's amp was way too loud and drowned out all the others.

Fast start and only got faster. More notes in one song than a while concert. When all on stage at the same time, it was a magical experience.

I was looking forward to this show because I m a huge Def Lepppard and Dream Theater fan and it totally delivered. I was not really aware of Joe Satriani s excellence until now. He was incredible. Now I have new music to go listen to, Joe Satriani and Phil Collen s blues band Delta Deep.

Nothing better than watching Joe Satriani come on stage with his shades, look up at the ceiling with his mouth open and wail on his guitar...well maybe John Petrucci who was, as usual, in awesome form...A pleasure to watch all three of these great guitarist and their wonderful bands. Great show, loved the jam at the end as those three looked like they were having so much fun and could play forever!

What a great show! Phil Collen and his blues band opened. Nice to see him on his own and not doing the same old stuff. John Petrucci, a true perfectionist. His playing was spot on. His blends are always great to listen to and to watch him play, is hypnotic. Joe Satriani, as always a great payer. He threw in some new stuff, and was spot on. The "encore" with all 3 guitarists playing was a treat! The mixing of the different styles was a great way to end the show. Can't wait for the next G3 tour!

It was pretty nice and organized. My seat was close to one exit door and in the intervals there was a strong cigarette smell. Except for that, awesome.

Fantastic talent doesn't need to be over amped. Why do the house sound dudes over amp the bass drum and wash out the bassist?? A real disappointment even with selective ear buds. Joe we love you and would so much more enjoy you show without over amping. Sincerely

g3...three great guitarists, each a legend in theiir own right....one of, if not THE best guitar show I have ever seen....and satrianis drummers solo was the 3d best drum solo I have evers een behind Billy Cobham and the drummer for weather report whose name escapes me (alphonse mouxon?).. And the rendition of highway star that the 3 guitarists did as part of a stellar group of enocre songs, was THE best version I have ever heard of that song, and the BEST guitar song I have ever seen live!!

We were told to be there at 3:30. We waited outside in 18 degree temps for 45 min. Not how you treat People who spend hard earned money for a special experience. This is my 6 th time any they are becoming more rigid and less fun. You may want to talk with your customers, us, and find out what WE want in these experiences
