Black Label Society

Black Label Society

Black Label Society are the ongoing musical creation of infamous guitarist Zakk Wylde, who was plucked from obscurity by Ozzy Osbourne in 1987 and soon became a household name among heavy metal enthusiasts. Black Label Society were formed in 1998 after Wylde split from Ozzy and company. They recently released Unblackened, a live CD/DVD featuring a batch of stripped-down versions of their songs. The CD contains six bonus tracks, including covers of "Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers and "A Song For You" by Leon Russell.

Zakk and BLS sounded better than ever. The new songs are solid. It was great to be able to catch them in such a small venue. Even better, it was for a good cause (St. Jude Benefit)If they do this again. I will definitely be back. I can never see these guys enough times.

Zakk put on an amazing show! As usual. Him playing at the Roxy was amazing, I've never seen him at such a small venue and it was well worth it buying the tickets ASAP before they sold out. The sound could have been better but that wasn't his fault, the Roxy has kind of poor audio, especially for the heavy chugging riffs of the one and only Zakk Wylde. But even that didn't matter, Zakk was so exciting and the band was so clean; even with new drummer Will Hunt only recently being added in November 2009. If you're a fan of BLS, you must see this band live, there is nothing like it. This is my 6th BLS show and definitely not my last, not even close.

I went to see Black Label Society and got into the building right when Dope was playing and I came out of there a huge Dope fan. And Sevendust didnt sound the greatest live but their whole performance was GREAT! and of course Zakk is always a geat show. I would go back and see these 3 bands over and over again...it was that damn good.

I first want to say I love Black Label And mean what follows with the utmost respect the concert had a horrible mix the first four songs were cracking and popping like crazy. when that finally was settled and stopped the sound was better, but still not mixed right. Maybe some of the problem is due to sitting in the balcony and it was mixed down on the floor but I had some friends in the pit and they said it was bad there as well. The guitar was way to high (yes I know its Zakk Wylde),but you should still at least be able to hear the vocals at least a little. Last but not least Black Labels set was way too short they didnt play In This River , or Spoke In The Wheel and I would personally liked to have heard House of Doom,Funeral Bell, and especially Doomsday Jesus. Oh well everybody has a bad one once in a while. Sorry Zakk but honesty is the best policy still Black Label for life, maybe next time will be better.

Well, I still can't talk right............From the start of Cycle of Pain to the end of Black Label Society I couldnt stop screaming, I had an excellent view and the bar was very accessible so I didnt lose my place at the front of the stage. Not only would I attend another event but I would really reccommend friends to go see shws there because the House of Blues really knows how to throw a good show!

Zakk and Co. shot straight through for about an hour and a half ,non stop. Set list changed up a bit from recent show i saw (which was a refreshing ). The House Of Blues is an excellent setting for shows. There is plenty of room and the stage can be seen anywhere inside the venue. If you have any interest in Zakk or BLS they are a wicked band to see.

Zakk and the boys came to AC and did not disappoint! Although there was not a full house (it was a dreary Sunday Nite) Zakk gave it his all. Zakk pulled out all of his famous guitars in his arsenal and blew the roof off. Great sound and just amazing, as usual. I could see this guy every time he plays.

Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society treated their fans to a blistering show. Current hit "Suicide Messiah" and crowd favorite "Stillborn" brought down the house. BLS's tribute to Dimebag Darrell was poignant and fitting. BLS bassist JD's band, Cycle of Pain, opened the show and was excellent in their own right. The House of Blues continues to be a stellar venue.

Love BLS. Love Loud Music But It May Have Been Too Loud. Seemed Like Zakk Was Screaming & Still Couldn't Hardly Hear Him. (I do know the words because we almost listen to BLS exclusively but would have been a better show to have heard him more.) Nice to have seats at House of Blues. Would love to see Zakk unplugged. It is refreshing to see a guy be able to show his love.

Black Label never disappoints. The only negative I could say about this show was Wovenwar showing up late, and Kyng getting short changed and playing a 20 minute set. Black Label came out, Zakk amazing as always, and killed it. Cannot wait until they are close again.

The two opening bands were okay, but I think their set time would have been put to better use by Down & Black Label Society. Down was great. They played four songs from their first album "Nola', which is their best LP. And what can I say about Zakk Wylde's band Black Label Society? They are off the charts amazing! For one person to be blessed with so much talent (guitar, piano, vocals, writing music & lyrics, producing the albums and art direction for their album covers/sleeves) He learned well from "The Boss", Ozzy, how to be a great stage performer. My All Time favorite bands are Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Jimi Hendrix. Black Label Society is right behind them. This the best show I've EVER seen! And I've been going to concerts since Deep Purple's 'House of Blue Light' Tour in '86.

This concert was outstanding! The venue was good and offered options for better seating (for a fee). It was worth it to me to spend the extra money to go from general admission to a reserved seat right over the stage! Zakk Wylde was phenomenal! Down was excellent as well. I am thrilled that I had the opportunity to go to this concert. If you did not make it, well, you missed a great show.

As the band played behind a gorgeous backdrop of Skull and Bones ritual, robed in Fransican Friar's Golden Dawn attire, nestled amongst a lush garden of Ivies, the invisible 3rd order participated in the ceremonial high magic alchemy. As the burning notes of the strings and ivories intertwined with the hypnotic beat of trance induced drumming, the melodic and harmonious voices made thier invocation calling clear. During the acoustic ceremony, the cone of power had reached its full capacity. At that point, the phoenix raised from the ashes, unblackened and transformed, as the high magician directed his raised sword back down to earth. The transformation into materialization now manifests faster than the windy city can raise it's posts at a RR crossing. Five stars and two thumbs up!

I,ve seen them in Chicago, in N.C. in L.A. and overseas but the best show was at the Beaumont Club in K.C. It is a smaller venue and there is not a bad seat in the house. Zakk takes the extra time to get cozy with the crowd and he has a special place in his heart for his fans in K.C. because of all the overwhelming support he has allways had there. He came here for a autograph and acoustic session at the last minute back in 07 and was suppose to be here for two hours but stayed for 5 to make sure that every fan had time to talk to him. He is such a great talent and more over his humility and appreciation for his fans allways comes through. Such a rare thing for a Metal God of his caliber. Don,t miss this show because it will probably be years untill you see them on this level again.

The BLS set was simply too loud. Now I like loud music, but not to the point where it's distorted. Clutch opened up first and they were loud enough. Then Children of Bodom did their set, which was slightly louder than Clutch. Then BLS came on and it was so loud it was distorted. I left after 2 songs.

I drove to Orlando from Davie to see my favorite band Black Label Society, got there to see Clutch, great attention grabbing musicians there, then Children of Bodom came on, Alexi is an amazing guitarist! But it was all about Zakk Wylde and BLS for me! From the moment they hit the stage, it was non-stop energy and intensity for the duration of their set. I've been a Zakk fan since his early Ozzy days and the man is a guitar God & Legend. They played classics like "What's in You", "Blessed Hellride", "Funeral Bell", and the Dimebag Darrell tribute of "In This River" where Zakk showcases his piano skills. His long solo towards the 2nd half of the show captivated the audience, made us all realize we were in the presence of a true guitar legend! The BLS classics "Suicide Messiah" and "Stillborn" also put the crowd in overdrive. My favorite live show of the year!!

I missed Black Label Society the last couple times they were in town, I'm so glad I was able to make this gig. I didn't know the opening acts, but they were solid, and I came away a fan of some new music (Clutch in particular). Zakk and Black Label were solid. Sound was great (loud, I mean, really really loud). Zakk played flawless as expected and vocals were right on. The rest of the band was tight...I was thoroughly impressed with everyone. I'll definitely catch them again next time they come through Dallas.

Zakk did not disappoint. Last time I saw him was an acoustic tour for Book of Shadows at Rosebud in the strip. Started out with Red Fang. I have never heard them. They were really good for an opening act. COC did not disappoint. I love their music, but was the first time live and they were awesome. This was my 10th time seeing BLS. By far the best BLS show of DOOM I ve been through. They played all the familiar songs; Genocide Junkies, Funeral Bell, Stillborn, Fire It Up, Concrete Jungle, One More Bridge to Cross. They mixed in some of The Grimmest songs. The new album is killer. Zakk came down into the crowd and played. From start to finish you did not want to go to the bathroom because you would miss something, no matter how much beer you drank. Zack and his band hit the heavy metal nerve when they play. A must for anyone's bucket list is to check out one of his live shows. His past albums are recommended too. Show was spit up with blazing guitar riffs, and then some slower ballads many performed with Zack playing piano. Good show overall! Plenty loud this time, but not as loud as his last show at the Grove of Anaheim, my ears rang for days after that past show!

This was a mellowish side of the heavy-metal version of Black label tonight. He took all the songs that they usually play, and Mellowed them out a bit, it was like having heavy metal, melodic, gooves still full of bad ass long playing solos but with out the song and dance you would see on stage at a concert. Each of the guitar us were sitting on a stool, with the little table next to them and they played like that for the entire concert. The music was great, I can't complain, it was just a different scene altogether. it was similar to the metal music that they did on the album "hangover music."

I was expecting an all-acoustic show but got so much more. It was plugged in, turned up, and BLS with a hint of mellow. A fantastic show where the music was huge yet heartfelt. A highlight was hearing them do a mix of Pride and Glory, Led Zeppelin and even an Alice in Chains song mixed in with heavy songs that were toned down and played while sitting down. From the first song to the last, Zakk and his band gave their all. Amazing guitar playing by all. Drums sounded great. Zakk's piano playing was great. Would love to see them again the next time they are in the area.

This show was more of an "electrified unplugged" type show. Zakk & crew sat the entire time and played toned down versions of their greatest tracks. It had a much more personal feel and we were blown away after seeing them three months earlier at the Portland State Theatre, which was also an incredible show. I don;t know how these guys do it time after time, but they do. My respect for Black Label Society deepens every time I see them. If you get a chance to go...GO!!

Overall, I had an Awesome time, I was not familiar with Butcher Babies & Hate breed before the show, but I was happy with the positive vibe they put out,,... Ok, Th main event... I love Black Sabbath and I am a Huge Ozzy Fan !!, so naturally , I am a Huge Zakk Wylde & Black Label Fan !!! The show was nice, in a small theater in Portland Maine, opening with Red flashing beacons, and Air Raid siren , Like War pigs gave me chills, very cool.. I never saw Zakk before, but always wanted too, he reminds me of someone in my life, or used to be,,, anyway, his attitude , and raw look on things reflects in the BLS music, and it strikes a cord in me, I love it. I respect Zakk being sober, Cheers Man !!!!! the only reason I gave 4 stars, it appears at 46 years old, I was a little more into it than some other concert goers, when you force yourself up to the stage, expect me and others around you to me into the music, I will not stop pumping my fist, and I will whistle very loud after each tune !! cheers !

Recently moved to Montreal from LA. Drastic change from sunny Cali to the northeast! The show was amazing had a chance to attend meet and greet with BLS and Zakk remember my son from the SOR! Never am I let down when I see BLS the professionalism and the vibe of the show couldn't be any better! Montreal shows rock! BLS tore the roof of the place! Can't wait to see the show again soon. Thank you again for an amazing night conducting your music for the masses in the cathedral that night! Much respect to you guys and for keeping true to the music! SDMF!

The show was awesome. The venue was sweet you could be in the crowd or comfortable in seating overlooking the show. The bands were great, sound was loud and the bars were quick. The only thing is the bathroom location.

Toronto, NJ and Cleveland - 3x in one year... Each time we see BLS, it gets better! Zakk opened this show playing the guitar behind his head, Jimi Hendrix style. Three songs in, they surprised us with Bleed for Me, an unexpected addition to the setlist. John DeServio, wearing his Randy Rhoads T-shirt, seemed to really enjoy the atmosphere and played to the crowd in high intensity. Jeff Fabb beat the heck out of those drums, as we have come to expect at a BLS show. Dario Lorina is growing out the peach fuzz and quickly becoming a member of BLS. Zakk gave him a million dollar raise between the NJ and Cleveland concerts, and it shows with his stage presence going up a few notches. As always, love seeing this year's roadie with the bullhorn in Suicide Messiah. In this River has become a sentimental favorite - though would LOVE to see Zakk rock the Razorback Rusted Bullseye like in his 2005 blu ray! Fire It Up was our second half concert surprise - another song we just didn't think we'd get to see in this setlist. Ending with Concrete Jungle instead of Stillborn (played earlier) was the final surprise of the night, ending our amazing BLS experience.

Kyng and Wovenwar opened with two incredible sets! Then you see the Black Label colors come up and you KNOW what's about to happen! Zakk blazing on the guitar, Dario bending the strings,JD laying down hard bass lines and Jeff knocking out mean beats! Greatest show of my life. Center Stage is an amazing venue! Can't wait for them to come back around!

Ozzy described Zakk Wylde best when he said He s not human ! What he can do with a guitar is beyond description. He is my 16-year-old son s favorite guitarist and this was our third time seeing BLS. We were in the front row and my ears are still ringing!

Eyehategod and Corrosion of Conformity stole this show!! BLS was good, but EHG and COC were by far the best and should have had more stage time than 40 minutes. Overall excellent show.

Great show!! Nice venue. Zakk (& all of his endeavors) never disappoints. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend you spring for the VIP upgrade. Zakk goes above and beyond to make sure you have an enjoyable experience. I can't say enough to express just how highly I think of Zakk Wylde! I also have to say, the staff and especially the security guards were all very helpful and quick to act. Thank you, Bogarts. Although I am not a fan of 'general admission' venues (hence the only 4 star rating) because of the few fans who like to over imbibe and make it very difficult for the other fans near by to enjoy the show, the security at Bogarts is quick to act when those few start their misconduct.

We have been to House of Blues many times, but this time I was very disappointed! We had dinner first & our waitress was horrible, but the manager worked magic & took care of us. The show was prenominal as usual, but we got charged different prices for our drinks all 4 times! Twice we paid with cash & twice we used or card for the exact same drinks & 3 of the 4 times we different prices!

This was my third time to see BLS. Very good set list, raw energy and the band sounds good. I would recommend this BLS to anyone. And the cool thing, the crowd was into it as well. I can't wait till they come back to Austin.

The last two bands (Black Label Society and Corrosion of Conformity) were well rehearsed as far as music and stage presentation and left very little off their plates. The crowd responded to both bands energy. With that said, now to the opener Eyehategod if audio feedback was a show of talent they would have 5 stars, the lead singer moved like his shoes were glued down on one spot... the bass, lead guitars and even drummers movements showed they cared and wanted to put on a show.... The pit crowd showed no mercy to the lead singer who was heckled. I know being heckled is not a nice thing, but responding to the heckler seemed unprofessional, responding to one person and ignoring a thousand is not good, should have cranked up the amps and played music.

Let s get the reason the venue only gets a 4 star; drink prices are crazy high both alcohol and non. I understand venues can do this but the margin is good regardless. Most venues do this so its not only an issue there, but not every place does it. As for the show, I have seen BLS several times and have to put this one at the top. The song selection was great as they played pretty from every album. The sound and crowd interaction was great! It was a first seeing COC somehow, but that show did not disappoint, great sound! Let s just say if this exact show happened again at the same venue I would not miss it.

The show was great. Black Label Society is amazing! My only problem is that you could barely hear the vocals in the orchestra section and that nearly half the seats were broken.
