Sylvan Esso

Sylvan Esso is am amazing band, and the two artists are stars. They did an amazing job of curating the show and pumping the crowd up. Unfortunately, the opening band was poorly mixed, and sounded harsh and shrieky. :( Great venue, too! Although bring your stadium chairs for sure!

Had a great first time at The Greek Theatre at UC Berkeley. First act, Kamasi Washington, played right on time and crushed it for an hour! After, Sylvan Esso did their thing, accompanied by some amazing light shows! Walking back to the car after a show can be draining, but not when it is through a beautiful campus!

We were in the pit... only one person between me and Amelia and Nick... AND they were amazing. It s hard to believe just 2 people can entertain a venue this big, but they blew the roof off ;)

Loved the concert. Mr. Twin Sister was a wonderful opening act--loved their percussion. Sylvan Esso came through with a live show that mixed their big hits with other pieces that were interesting and also had their complex rhythms, innovative combinations, and great vocals. Was looking forward to it for a long time and was overjoyed that it met my expectations and more.

Great band, great show. Opening band Helado Negro was also amazing.

They were so great live; you could really feel the music and the bass. Vocals were incredible. They interacted with the crowd well and talked to us in between a few songs. Songs were unique sounding, having additional beats than the record versions, but still the same basic sounds to each song. They got a new lighting prop, and it definitely had an effect on the feel of the show! Lights went with the beats of songs and colors/patterns were different each song. So great; I'll be going to see them again in a few months no doubt.

This was hands down one of the best shows i have ever been to in my entire life (and i've been to many!) It was an unforgettable performance and i cant wait to see them perform again!

Sylvan Esso's performance at the Howard Theatre was intimate, energetic, and affective. I'm in love with the lead singer now.

It's indescribable what two talented people can do onstage with a few tools and a lot of passion. A full experience of music, lights, and vocals turn this duo into a full band that clearly enjoys what they do and passes the vibe onto the audience. They evoke the feeling of multiple genres, yet they are actually creating their very own in front of us. THIS IS A BAND TO FOLLOW. Great venue @ Sinclair.

The venue was great and the band was amazing! I would recommend this to anyone who is even remotely interested in the band and even to those who don't know them but might be.

This music and the people who performed it are absolutely amazing and beautiful to behold.... What an experience! Thumping bass, intricate live looping, wonderful vocals....life breathing lyrics. So much fun. Thank you sylvan Esso!!!!!!

Its absurd to think that tickets for this event were still available on the day of the concert. Basically everything was great. I thought they would either have their DJ mixing live or have the female vocalist from the group singing, and I was happy to find that both she was there and a live mix was underway.

The light show was awesome, her dancing made you wanna get down and Nicks skills with the beat we re ubforgettable!! I highly regiment getting tickets next time they come to the northeast.

The lineup was incredible up to Sylvan Esso... such great diversity and entertainment. There was a line everywhere we went (parking line, camping line, entrance line, food lines, beer lines) which was surprising when comparing this venue and the attendance to other places I ve been. And they ran out of their commemorative cups around 6pm (just 2.5 hours after shows started), those cups allowed you to get in the fast line for beer refills. The camping was pretty fun though and inexpensive. All together the experience was pretty good. Great people, weather, food and amazing music!!!

Sylvan Esso was everything I had hoped for and more. Great stage presence, great sound, and great lighting set up!

Sylvan Esso never disappoint. They have a great time performing, sending palpable energy into the crowd. They've upped their light show this time around, but the music still takes top billing.

The lighting was amazing. Neptune theater is intimate and small, highly recommended great sound.

The sound was spectacular, the bartenders were on it, the light show was outstanding (the band brought their own light tech, who looked quite comfortable with the Newport staff at the soundboard), and the band was, of course, captivating and engaged with the crowd.

I fell completely in love with sylvan esso all over again when I finally saw them live. they had so much energy and radiated love and I just felt so included in the show. I can't wait until they set out a new record and I get to watch them grow into the beautiful duo they will become.

Parking is a bit of a hassle here, otherwise it's a great venue!!

This was easily one of the best concerts I ve ever been to. Sylvan Esso has been one of my favorite bands for three years and seeing them live was unforgettable. Their chemistry on stage is so in sync and Amelia is so beautifully raw you can truly feel their beautiful energy.

I've been listening to sylvan esso for years, but this was the first time I've actually seen them live. They were incredible: great stage presence, phenomenal sound, and they were very clearly enjoying themselves up there (along with everyone else in that packed amphitheatre). If you're a fan of sylvan esso, I highly recommend seeing them live.

Such a great show! She is the cutest girl and he gets down on the beats. When they both sing (which is rarely), the whole crowd roars. We loved this show and would definitely do it all over again !!!!!!!!

Performance was great, but there s was two big screens on the sides of the stage that were not used. I feel like it could have enhanced the experience for the entire audience.

Sylvan Esso at the Greek was INCREDIBLE! Even though they are just 2 people they filled the stage expertly. Everything was amazing, lighting, sound, not really a bad seat in the house. That was my first time seeing them and I can t wait to again. Also, I wish I could see every band at the Greek. Perfect venue. 12/10

I love this group and was looking forward to seeing them live. Then they only played about 75 minutes. I don't feel I got my money's worth, even though they were excellent.

Wouldn't recommend this show at all. All the songs sounded the same after 30 minutes. Not sure what was worse, the audience or the venue. The crowd was very obnoxious which made the sound very hard to hear.

Best venue for a great concert! The camping option was worth it. The food truck options were delicious.

All of the bands were great!! My favorite was Sylvan Esso, love love love!!! Waiting in line for an hour to get a drink and then another hour for food was not so special...

I first heard of Sylvan Esso in 2014, shortly after the release of their first album while sitting in my dorm room with my two close friends. One of my friends grew up in Chapel Hill, very close to where Sylvan Esso got their start, and said that a friend of a friend's, sister's, roommate just released an album. He proceeded to plug in his phone to my speakers and play "Coffee" as loud as our studious neighbors would permit without ratting us out to our RA. It sounded like nothing I'd ever heard before and it sent shockwaves of goosebumps from my head to my toes, and I could hardly contain the foolish grin on my face. We all just kinda sat there smiling and bobbing our heads away until the song was over. I don't think I listened to anything but Sylvan Esso for over a week straight. It just made me feel happy and alive and...well...cool. Who else could say that they "knew" Sylvan Esso like I did haha (only half-joking, I know I don't know them...but it felt cool to be just a few degrees removed. It felt like there was a new NC musician that made me feel proud to be from NC.) I first saw them perform in 2015 and didn't stop smiling for weeks. Amelia dances like she is the music...and frankly, if you don't understand what I mean, you just need to see her because it's pure passion and it's really stunning. And Nick is wildly talented. It's easy to write off DJ's by saying, "oh, he's just pressing buttons." But just wait until you see the emotion, the grit, the quality that Nick brings to the performance. And then, I waited two long, long years to see them again at Shakori Hills. I set up camp with a friend, watched Helado Negro, and Tune Yards, and Wye Oak, (all incredible acts in their own rights) and then I stood front row to relive this incredible experience that is watching Sylvan Esso perform. The weather was perfect, the moon was bright, and the crowd was remarkably happy. You could just feel the positive energy in the air. They took the stage and in a flash it was all over. I jumped and sang and laughed and just took it all in. You just can't make this stuff up...they are really this good. They're just real people...like your best friends took the stage. The lights...incredible. The sound...incredible. The mix of high- and low-energy songs is perfect. The only thing I wished for was for it to never end. Please, please, please, just do yourself a favor and buy the ticket. You won't regret it.

The venue severely underestimated attendance and ran out of adult beverages quickly, and the lines were obscenely long. I waited over an hour for my first beer, and never went back because of the wait times. I think the "fast pass" cup had something to do with this, some attendees could just walk to the front of the line and take the attention away from people who had been waiting there for a VERY long time. Didn't seem like a great system, but I'm biased because I love a little concert with my beer......

All of the performers were awesome, and the set put on by Sylvan Esso was so much fun with lots of dancing. Great energy all around. Shakori Hills is a great venue, loved the camping, plenty of clean toilets, and general vibe of the place. Only negatives were the extremely long lines for food and drinks. We brought plenty of cash expecting to drink and eat since we were onsite from about 2 pm til the shows were over after midnight. In that whole period of time we didn't buy a single thing because the wait times were over an hour! Luckily we had packed some food at the campsite or I would've been extremely frustrated. Using food trucks to feed a crowd that big was a bad idea and they needed about 3 more beer tents. Would happily go to this event again, next time I know to pack my own provisions though!

The venue changed last minute for the better. More intimate and plenty of seating. 10 year old son a great time. Highly recommend Sylvan Esso and the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium.

The band was really hype for such chill music. The amount of bass was awesome!!

One of the best shows I've ever seen. I wondered how just two people would energize the crowd. Well, it was with awesome music, fabulous dance moves and their obvious love of the music! I would HIGHLY recommend catching a Sylvan Esso performance!!

Hands down Sylvan Esso is in my top 5 best shows! The only critique I have is that the pillars at the Ryman can be in the line of view depending on your seats. The acoustics were great!

The venue was nice I didn't like the seating though because there was no room to move around and dance to the groove, that is why I couldn't give this place five stars, but of course Sylvan Esso was epic as always

This is one of my favorite bands. I love their music; their albums are on constant rotation. However, their concert was just okay for me. The lights were fun, but I felt like I was just listening to their CD. They didn't change up the songs very much, and I do not understand why they didn't bring a background singer or two for their tour. It's a TOUR - it's supposed to be special. They didn't do any song I hadn't heard - whether new or a cover - and that was disappointing as well. The lead singer is amazing and she looks like she's having fun, but it didn't feel like a Ryman-level performance. Also, they were dressed so casual, like they were going for coffee - it would have been fun if the lead singer had worn SOMETHING that reflected the light - even a single line of reflective tape down her back would have been more interesting - she was dressed in such dark colors that she was hard to make out through some of it. I'm a jaded Nashville native who has seen more than my fair share of concerts, so unless you're bringing something special to your performance, I'm just not going to be that jazzed about it. Overall: B-

The sound at the Fox Theatre was on point and juicy -perfect for her vocals and his fat bass lines. The light show took their music to another level. Crowd energy was excellent. They are going to need to release a third album if they want to perform for more than an hour tho...

Awesome show and the new Neptune is a great small venue. Everyone can see, the sound was very good as well! Sylvan Esso were fun, lively and spot on in terms of playing/singing. Great band and great show!

One of the top 3 shows I have ever seen in my life. Great intimate venue and amazing performance. They literally could have done the exact same show twice in a row and I would have stayed to watch, hell they could played 3 times over. Absolutely Wonderful, hubby and I had a great time and hope they come back to Indy soon!

Very entertaining and the perfect venue for this show

Sylvan Esso WOWed me live. Was not expecting her voice to be as brilliant as it is on all the recordings.. she sounds even better live. And her partner the DJ (sorry I don't know either of their names and too lazy to google) kept the energy going all night. I am very excited for them to take off and write more music together; although the show was excellent, it was very short. That's only because they are new and don't have much material yet. Very excited to see where they go in the next few years! 10/10 would recommend all my friends or anyone to see them live!

I actually consider attending this concert to be one of the best decisions of my life. The show was amazing, I loved everything about it and would go again whenever possible.

Sylvan was amazing. Always love her dance moves and the music. Sad they only played for an hour, but they don't have that much music, so it's understandable. The worst part were her fans. Seemed like everyone was really stuck up. My friend and I were just dancing and having a good time but it felt like we were being judged by all of the people looking like egotistical statutes.

The venue (terminal 5) was awesome but the show... The show was outta sight! It is most definitely #1 on my concert list and good luck to any band to come close. The opener Mr. Twin Sister had great sound and did an awesome job of gearing the crowd up for Sylvan. But wen the came out all hell broke loose and it was a sweaty messy jumping pumpin' jam session like no other with so much good energy I'm surprised nothing exploded. So i will be seeing them again a.s.a.p!

As an excited friend pointed out, this was probably the best show in NYC that night. Which means there's a legitimate shot it was the best in the world. I would normally review an event but sylvan esso was such a dynamic, powerful, commanding musical act that I had to put something here. An incredible set that made even a temporary outage memorable.

I thought that Terminal 5 would be too big for the two person act, but they amazed me with their energy. Lights, sound, dance moves; everything was amazing. So much fun!

You would think a DJ set wouldn't be able to work a crowd, especially a crowd as big as Terminal 5. But they rocked it out!

sylvan season CRUSHED it. So hard. They're talking about only having a few songs that were "bangers" well yeah...but they were all awesome. Good crowd. Good vibe. Great dance moves and slick beats. Well done.
