Not to be missed! I plan my weekends around theater and concerts nationwide. There is not much I haven't seen. It is going to be hard to top this show! I would see Burt Bacharach again in a heartbeat and hope I will have that opportunity.

Loved it. It was a show about the music, not about the performers. It was show where you can sing along and remember. Yeah, it was not trying to sell a new CD. Three singers were fantastic.

I expected it to be a good show just because of all of Burt Bacharach's songs but it turned out to be an awesome show. His musicians sounded like a big orchestra and his three singers each had great voices. Burt received three standing ovations and he certainly deserved them.

All his old songs! Great show - happy there wasn't an intermission! Small probably with the CD I bought! It plays but jumps from one song to the other missing some in between!

Burt looked older and frail but he delivered and so did his band. The singers were outstanding, especially the female on the end stool and the male - excellent singers. Burt played his usual economical piano style and left all the other stuff for his band members. Great choice of songs and the medleys were great too. For me the highlights were when Burt sang Alfie and when the band cooked on Wives and Lovers. A great night.

This was the second time I have seen Burt in concert and he's still got it! His songs are timeless. The performers enjoyed being on stage with him. The audience was rocking side to side and one man even got up and danced in the aisle! I'm really glad I got to see him again because, well, let's face it, he is up in years and may not be performing much longer.

Was very impressed with the entire show how he covered all of his musical hits and would stop and talk to the audience about some of his experiences in his career, how some of his music came about and relationships of writing for different artists , also covered all of his movie hits. Great musicians ,, great singers and Burt was very entertaining ..

Musical excellence! Burt's getting up there in age but still has so much passion for playing his music. He wasn't "just going thru the motions." The various musicians in his band were awesome. Sorry but that type of music isn't written anymore.... If you get the chance to see Burt don't miss it. You can spend over 2 hours straight with a legend....

I am so glad that Burt Bacharach honored us with this performance. As I expected, he was classy, gracious, and genuinely appreciative of our adulation. It was interesting to hear him talk to the audience occasionally, for example about his move to New York early in his career and thinking that composing songs would be easy, but instead getting innumerable rejections until his unique style caught on. His rapport with his band members is evident, as when he explained with mock disgust that the sax player "sticks his finger in his mouth" to make the popping sound for the theme song that Burt wrote for "The Blob". Burt was unfazed by his voice failing him a couple of times early in the performance. He took lozenges for it without embarrassment, and it literally loosened things up for him as well as the audience! And sure enough his voice came back and he sang "Alfie" all the way through with characteristic charm, and quite a few others. It's that voice that made me and I'm sure a lot of other guys imagine that they too could play the piano and serenade that special someone. Burt made his familiar conducting movements to various sections of the orchestra while simultaneously playing the piano, such as standing, leaning back and looking toward the violins, and waving his arm. That convinced me, this must be the real Burt! He did several encores to standing ovations, and for the finale repeated "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" because "we screwed it up so bad," and said "then we're out of here"! It was a magical and unforgettable evening. Thank you very much, Burt!

First - The concert was held at the newly renovated Fox Theatre in Riverside, CA. The venue is first class and the employees are warm and helpful. Really a nice place to hear a concert or see a special show. Second - The Corona Ensemble warmed up the audience for 30 minutes prior to Burt coming on stage. Then the complete Corona Symphony Orchestra backed Burt's Ensemble for the concert. Both are first class and first rate. Nice job! Third - This is the first time I've seen Burt Bacharach in concert. His Ensemble is top notch with great musicians and 3 outstanding vocalists. When backed by a superb orchestra like the one from Corona, it will come no better. The music that Burt Bacharach has written is timeless. Burt is an outstanding showman and expects nothing less than perfection when putting on such a smooth and polished concert.

I have admired Burt Bacharach and have listened to his music for at least 35 years by now. Being there that night at Riverside, with the man himself conducting a fabulous orchestra, has been a great privilege for me. This has been an event I will remember for the rest of my life. I am happy to have had this opportunity to see on stage a living legend of contemporary music.

We were unsure just how this concert was going to go, knowing that Burt himself is not the best singer but we love his music and wanted a Christmas present for my parents. He brought 2 female singers and 1 male and they were all AMAZING! The orchestra who played with him was great--lots of strings and the band had lots of horns. It was sooooo worth the money.

I go to at least a dozen concerts a year and this one was right up there with the best. Seeing such a legend perform these songs was a great experience. He has such passion for his craft. His music and presence touches so many hearts, most of us shed tears at some point during the show. If I could have gone again the next night, I would have!!! My ticket buying experience however was a wreck! Ticketmaster didn't offer the option to print my tickets at home. I had to either pick them up at a retail location for an ADDITIONAL $3. fee (added on to their already crazy fees), or p/u at will call at time of event. I figured I'd just pick them up. Wasn't happy with the fee but did it anyway. But they failed to disclose that at the location ("Westwood"), it was on the UCLA campus and the only option to park is to pay another $3.00 and take a crazy maze to find the outlet on campus. I live about 2 miles from there and it took an hour door to door without any traffic. It was such an ordeal....Sooooo annoyed with Ticketmaster!!!!!!!!

I always wanted to see Burt Bacharach when I was younger but never got the opportunity to do so until now. This is the best show ever. Loved all the songs, the singers, the instrumentalists, the theater, and Burt in particular. I definitely want to see him again. I couldn't believe how prolific he is in writing songs that transcend time. Despite his age, his fingers still danced across the keyboard. This show gets a A+++++.

My wife and I had roomy aisle seats on the mezzanine at the beautiful Saban Theatre and were treated to a concert as smooth as polished gold. The giant speakers that hung from the ceiling were right at our ear level and the beautiful music that poured forth from them played by the cohesive ensemble before our eyes was nothing less than astounding. The Bacharach band has four lead singers much more capable than anyone we heard from Elvis Costello and the LA Philharmonic the next night at the Hollywood Bowl. Alternating between one unforgettable Burt tune after another they were accompanied by a dream band displaying taste, style, and sass. And enough soul to fill the Coliseum. Burt was charming, telling stories between songs about their origin. Highlight for me was "Windows of the World," and "My Little Red Book," but every song was tuneful and impeccably arranged and performed. My wife's favorite was "Waiting for Charlie." I wish "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" Would've been a little longer but that's the only minor quibble I have. Burt Bacharach exuded class and musicality like no one else could and their delightful, generous string of songs, old and new was untoppable. Bravo, Burt!

What a phenomenal artist. Words can't appropriately describe the talent of Burt Bacharach. I went because he is my favorite composer's (Brian Wilson) favorite composer. I left realizing there would be no Steely Dan or many other great artists if there had been no Burt Bacharach. Burt was a charming host, it was like being in his living room - he offered up great anecdotes and descriptions. Blown away, as was my wife. GO.

The show exceeded expectations. This man who is literally a living legend performed with passion and humility. This is very rare in this day and age and everyone in attendance was grateful to witness an outstanding performance by Burt and his band. His trio of singers, captured the original recordings without plagiarizing the songs and yet showed individuality to make the songs new and fresh.

Saban theater is a very cool, intimate venue for shows and seeing Burt Bacharach there on Friday was over the top. I kept telling my husband 'this feels like it's going to be a BIG night". His band, his singers, his performance all exceeded my expectations and I was expecting alot! I left the evening singing Burt songs for next couple of days and when I tell friends about the concert, people tell me... "wow you are still so excited about it!!!" I was amazed at the wonderful performance I enjoyed w/Bacharach and ensemble. It was a well organized show and didn't drag on. The singers were fabulous and sang the songs as we remember The musicians were well-recognized and appreciated and had their own time in the spotlight. Mr. Bacharach himself looked great, seemed very happy and at-ease and was quite dynamic (and handsome!)...It's always fun that the performer is having a good time! The sing-along finale was so fun - the audience loved it (I sang at the top of my lungs - you heard me, right?)

The show - really a concert with no breaks by the master of pop music circa 1960-70. Like it was a class and the audience should take notes for a final exam. But, of course those there had to like his type of lilting music in the first place. Burt shows his age and could barely walk like he needed a cane or walker, but age and perhaps feebleness aside - the show - exactly 2 hours - was the music everyone there wanted to hear.Perhaps he suffers with back problems but whatever pain he may have had, he introduced, conducted, played and even sang in his weak voice just about every hit he had except Magic Moments that he wrote for Perry Como back in 1954. Like an old guy bringing out to show his friends old family pictures and describing the details of each picture, in this case his kids - his songs and sharing old memories of his composing partner Hal David - and then putting them back for safe-keeping. His back up group consisted of 8 musicians including a young lady violinist and 3 back-up singers all either singing together or solo with exceptional drive and master of the song each sang. Well worth the drive down the fractured 405 along with the ancient lay-out of the Saban, nee Wilshire theatre.

Where do you start to sum up an amazing night with one of the greatest American composers? Burt's signature sounds and classy, elegant music were brough to the fore at this amazing concert, The set list and muscianship were outstanding. Each member of his band was in essence paying tribute to the significant musical contributions that Burt Bacharach has made to his art and to the larger American popular culture that Burt helped define and continues to shape. The song "What the World Needs Now " was an especially poignant reminder of the one thing that we all need to share "Love."

The audience was terrific and Burt felt the love and gave us a great evening of entertainment. His back-up singers are excellent! (Donna, Josie, and John) Burt, please add more U.S. tour dates!! I went with 4 friends to see Burt Bacharach. The last show we saw at the Saban Theater was Joan Rivers in January--well, as she had just died we were all in a sad mood. (Same group each time). A month or so ago Robin Williams died. So...we were all so down on everything. What Burt did, with the evening was bring us out of our sadness and give us some peace. His songs brought back all sorts of good memories we had of years ago and what we were doing when we saw the movies he scored or heard those songs. We needed it. Each song was so memorable. What a talent.

Mr. Bacharach continues to prove my thesis that the performers who have been in the business for more than thirty years, are the best. It was a great concert. Great because you will be amazed to find that you recognize every single song performed. It is astonishing that Mr. Bacharach wrote all of those tunes. He also clearly enjoyed the performance and the audience demanded three encores. He's 85, so see him while he's still knocking the ball out of the park.

If you told me that at 85 years old I could still perform my life's work at a level that wins awards in my industry, at a perfection that keeps on growing, I would consider myself the luckiest human being on the planet. That is who Bert Bacharach is. The perfection of his accompanying orchestra, backup singers, and he himself on the piano is a miracle. My wife and I made a bet before the performance (as we have seen him four times previously) on whether he would sing from the piano. I lost the bet, as he is the most frustrated singing star in history. He actually sang more than the last time we saw him, but this time he also had great backup/ solo singers, including a male vocalist who has the voice that Burt wishes (or thinks?) he has. Totally a marvelous show, and I hope to see him back here at 86, and 87, and.........

The performance by Burt Bacharach, his three outstanding singers and incredibly talented musicians was spectacular! The audience was treated to music spanning Mr. Bacharach's 50 year songwriting career, with audience members singing along to Hal David's familiar lyrics. Singers Donna Taylor, John Pagano and Josie James blend their voices together perfectly for several medleys, but also sing individual numbers effortlessly, leaving the audience spellbound. An especially lovely composition from the movie 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' titled, 'Come Touch the Sun' was performed by brass musicians Tom Ehlen and Dennis Wilson. I didn't want the song to end. Another highlight of the concert was a lively rendition of 'My Little Red Book', performed by Bill Contas. Burt Bacharach's songwriting style is unique, his arrangements are flawless and when he sings there is a sincere message of love displayed.

The show was so worth it for Bacharach fans! Loved it Loved it! He sang a few songs which were difficult for him but the audience went wild when he did. A fabulous songwriter and composer. Alfie is my all time favorite as is his!

If you have the opportunity to see Burt Bacharach perform, DO NOT PASS IT UP! He is simply amazing ... not to mention 86 years young. His orchestra is fantastic and he has three extremely talented singers perform beside him. Burt does not let you down ... he plays all his oldies, music from the movies and Braodway shows he scored and even a couple of new ones. He took the stage at 8:15pm ... and did not stop playing until 10:15pm. No intermission. 95% music; 5% talking to the audience. If he had been in town a second night, I would have gone back. I am 42 years old and LOVED the show. Burt is an exceptional songwriter and to see him perform his music live is a treat beyond compare!

Burt is the coolest and the smoothest. His songs are so simple and his arrangements are so complex making for a night of non-stop hits.

An amazing body of work. Each song different, yet you could hear his style in them. His personality was warm and engaging. Amazing to hear his talk about his commitment to continuing to produce more music, and to travel and play his music, at age 86! What a gift he has shared with all of us!

This was the best concert I have ever attended in my life... and I am a professional musician and am usually on the stage... so I am a real critic... Mr. B was slightly late getting onstage (who can complain.. the guy is almost 90) but once he entered, he went for two hours with NO INTERMISSION and no let up! It was a great show. His band was great and he was amazing. The Carolina Theater in Durham is a wonderful venue with great acoustics and comfortable seating (we were in the nose bleed section) with not a bad seat in the house apparently. Great audience! Great concert! Great performer! Great band! Absolutely NO COMPLAINTS... only accolades.

Not knowing what to expect from a 83 year old singer/songwriter we were very surprised that Burt Bacharach still has it. The band/orch. was wonderful and the back up singers each and collectively were excellent. The music was a walk down memory lane.

Don't know how he does it! Burt spent 2 hours, uninterrupted on stage, playing, conducting the whole time. He played approximately 40 of his compositions, mostly songs, a few movie themes. He included songs from the Brill Building days in NYC, up to his collaborations with Elvis Costello and Steven Sater. Of course, most emphasis is on the songs he wrote with the late, great Hal David, performed by the incredible Dionne Warwick, including "Walk on By", "Alfie", and "Do You Know the Way to San Jose", as well as Carpenters' "Close to You", "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" from his Tony-winning "Promises, Promises", and the "Theme From Arthur". A 7 piece band (mini-orchestra?), including brass and violin, re-created the classic Bacharach arrangements perfectly, with keyboardists and vocalists. Over the years, covers of the Bacharach/David songbook have often homogenized the rhythms and tonal qualities that cause his music to swing; hearing the timeless jazz as intended reminded one why this music still stands tall after 50 years.

My wife and I have seen Burt in five or six concerts over the past ten years. This concert at the Carolina Theater in Durham was the best! Burt, his singers and band were "on their game" this past Wednesday night. The best way we can summarize this concert is WOW!

It was a nice evening , good seats , good music , just something relaxing and simple that we know all the words to and have heard a million times. Bacharach has lived an interesting life , losing a daughter , and continuing to work and travel at 86. Amazing !!

This is my first concert review. I just turned 60 and I grew up with rock and roll. Wish I could see the Doors or the Beatles.... but love virtually all types of music. I was looking for a concert to go to and saw that Burt Bacharach was playing at the Saban theatre (which I never heard of) and thought it would be fun to see an Icon. I have to confess I never bought an album of his because his music is so ubiquitous. Amazingly, he played almost non-stop for 2 hours and I knew almost all of his songs. He is a bit frail but full of energy. The concert was very tight and well organized with a great back-up band and fantastic singers. He was also so charming. The whole experience was pure pleasure-and it was nice seeing his son join him on stage. Must have been really fun for both of them. I would go to see the same concert again!

Burt Bacharach and his band did a fantastic show at the classic Saban Threatre in Beverly Hills. He and his band played for nearly two hours straight, no intermission, playing the familiar songs plus several new ones that Burt has written more recently. Burt, his vocalists, and his instrumentalists are all top notch, The show is paced so well, and Burt takes time to engage with his audience in between sets. He is truly an American icon, one who has had a tremendous impact on popular music culture, and one who is genuinely a kind, nice person. And a bonus was seeing Burt's 21 year old son, Oliver, play a set with the rest of the group, Oliver at the electronic keyboard. What a treat!! Highly recommended show!!!

Burt Bacharach played all my favorites including: This Guy's in Love with You, Do You Know the Way to San Jose, Close to You, The Look of Love, and What the World Needs Now Is Love. He had the audience sing along to Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head at the end. I was singing along all throughout the concert. Burt's still got it going!

The show itself was wonderful content. But the sound system turned it into a series of screeching lyrics and music that sounded like it was reverberating from a tin box. The same was true of my experience at the Fifth Dimension concert. The sound system is probably adequate for a stage production, but is sorely lacking for a concert.
