Defeater
Melodic hardcore outfit Defeater makes blistering music with brains, tempering their aggressive sonic assault with cerebral lyrics and virtuosic musicianship. Lyrically Defeater is a concept band -- all their songs tell the story of a Postwar New Jersey family grappling with the social and cultural changes of mid-century America. Despite this narrow conceptual framework, they manage to cover a huge swath of sonic and emotional territory at their live shows, flooring fans with their blazing guitars, pummeling drums, and the growled storytelling of frontman Derek Archambault. Whether they're firing on all cylinders with the anthem \"Bastards\" or perfor.

The lineup was pretty good. I enjoy seeing new live music although some of the bands weren't for me. They all put on a good show. Defeater was incredible, though I wished they played more old stuff. Most of it was from letters home. Still a good album, but I didnt know many of the songs. The Sinclair was a nice venue, Ive never been there before. I know moshing is against the rules but if you book a band like cruel hand, it should be expected. The bouncers should really just be making sure no one gets hurt instead of trying to stop people mid-mosh. People were just trying to have fun. All in all, the show was awesome. I'm glad I finally got to see them live.
