John Mayer

John Mayer

John Mayer is a man of contradictions. He’s an international pop star, but also an authentic bluesman endorsed by some of the genre’s biggest legends (B.B. King, Eric Clapton).

John Mayer is so amazingly talented we only wish he could find a way to translate his love for music into a love for performing. He will always be a playlist favorite but definitely not a must see performance.

I have never been to a John Mayer concert. I was very impressed with the musicians, the songs and the flow of the show. I especially liked the break out sessions , one being the John Mayer Trio. It was amazeballs! The opening band, Dawes, was also incredible.

I saw probably one of the most entertaining concerts of my life at Riverbend last Saturday. John Mayer played an amazing set list and wasn't afraid to mix in some comedic moments or engage with the crowd. Some moments took my breath away--the mix of old favorites and new songs alike. He is incredibly talented, and I was sad the concert had to end. Can't wait to see him again!

This was the fifth time I've John perform live. He certainly is an ever evolving artisit who deserves our attention. The Beacon Theatre is a beautiful, intimate venue, however the sound system wasn't the best. The fact that the show was a live broadcast was kind of cool, but detracted from any spontaneity that could have occured. I was expecting John to perform his entire new album, but there was just smatterings of it throughout a walk down John Mayer Lane. I personnaly always enjoy when John does his single acoustic sets--so raw, so real. Overall, it was so worth traveling 5 hours to be there. John is the bomb-diggity.

Magical! Loved the mix of the old and new. Even though we were in the 2nd to last row and the acoustics could have been better we had an awesome time. Lighting was great as was the addition of backup singers. Missed the horns! Loved the haircut, the dance moves and the butt shaking!

Seeing John in person is always amazing!!! I truly am very disappointed that the fan club is finished. As for the concert, I really cannot wait to see it played back, because from the balcony, He was very hard if not impossible to understand. The theater was beautiful, and we had fun, but the sound left me wanting more, and knowing that was most likely my last intimate show with JM and his incredible band,in a small venue type atmosphere, It left me a bit saddened. None the less, great job, I am sure from somewhere in the theater it was amazing!!!Thank you for doing that for your "old" young, fans!!!

We've seen him several times, including both of his cruises. This show was very basic and "average". He sang, he was done-- Period. We were in second level balcony, first row. Acoustics were very bad. We couldn't understand ANYTHING he said when talking to the audience between songs.

As a gift to my cousin who introduced me to John Mayer's music I took her to this amazing show. The theatre was amazing, the sound was top notch (thanks to JM's crew) and John, as usual - wonderful performance. He is definitely ready to get back on the road touring although it's like he never really left I was surprised that he did not play a lot from the new album but the old favorites were definitely welcomed by the crowd. I fell in love with Heartbreak Warfare because of how well it was performed. On the album it didn't really do much for me but now it has moved into one of my favs. His usual banter and connection to his crowd was present. He is always full of gratitude and always makes statements that will have the girls trying to interpret it for days. During Free Falling I believe - he added the words - she use to date you know who - I believe he loves dropping little comments like this It was really a great performance that I am glad was caught on tape for everyone to see. Loved the whole night and what's not to love - I have a musician I love performing in front of me, my best friend beside me and a beautiful theatre filled with loving fans and amazing music!

john mayer is one of the most talented musicians of our time. his "battle studies" record release show, which broadcast live on fuse, did not disappoint. backed by an extended band and vocalists, including steve jordan and david ryan harris, john made his newly released tracks come to life. perfectly executed songs were complimented by short, witty anecdotes about the album, the artist, and life. older favorites were woven into the new material in a way that that reminded fans of the journey it took to reach this moment. while often outspoken, john portrayed a true humility and gratitude to his fans. john mayer created an experience of a lifetime for every person in the beacon theatre, where everyone was focused only on him and the music. this show was outstanding.

John sounded great, as expected, but since this was the Battle Studies release show, I'd think that he should have played more new songs from that album. Either way, all the old stuff (and cover of "Free Falling") were fantastic...well worth the flight in to NY for the night :)

Great show, the band was tight, John was in good voice and he has great guitar skills. He didn't overdo the new songs and played quite a few favorites. First time at the Beacon and I was pleasantly surprised. It was nice to see JM in a small venue so I could actually see his face without having to look at the screens.

I flew all the way to NYC just for this Battle Studies release show, and he only played about five songs from the album. Whatsmore, he wasted the rest of the show with lengthy drum and keyboad solos. Most of the songs he did play were fairweather fan songs such as Daughters and Why Georiga. I was very upset with the show overall.

I have been a fan ever since I heard Any Given Thursday on cd then the DVD. Well he came close to my home town in the early 2000's and I had to go check it out. I knew a few songs not a lot, but, it really changed my life. Fast forward to the present, now I'm into the double digits of shows of his I've been to and I'm telling you, if you are a musician looking for inspiration this is the guy you need to see. It's a great show no matter the occasion.....no matter if you are a musician or not. I'm sure the new songs are great as well....take a friend, take a lover, or take...well you get it.

John Mayer is the best artist out there. His music is so chill and so awesome. I have only been to two of his concerts(and he is not touring this summer!), but those two concerts have been my two favorite, and i have been to a LOT of concerts. He is so original and each song he does has a beast guitar intro and solo. The dude is a guitar-hero. Can't wait for his new album, and then for him to tour that album, it's gonna be sick.

John Mayer is my favorite artist of all time. When I recieved tickets for my birthday i was estatic. He is a very high energy performer. He played an acoustic set and then played with his band. John was on stage for about 2 hours and 30 minutes jumping around and making sure the crowd was happy. He played a range from his old songs to the ones he was in the process of writting. I would recommend him for anyone who likes even one of his songs.

The Night Game was the opener and they had high energy and kept the crowd entertained and engaged with the audience. Their music is upbeat pop with a touch of 80's feel to it. Loved them! John Mayer is an awesome guitarist and vocalist. Whether he played solo, with the JM trio, or with the full band he was always connecting with the audience and looked like he was having fun up there. Great entertainment!

So, we both have always loved Mr. Mayer, however, his reputation had us wondering if we would be witnessing a drunkened bar scene, ala Geraldo! This was simply not the case. Seeing Mr. Mayer in person and having the privilege to witness his genius was a sweet and unexpected treat of a musical lifetime! His show was well laid out and his band was off the hook! Having the backdrop and visual aid and narrative, was an added level of texture that was unexpected as well. He covered his musical prowess in a linear, chapter laden fashion, which given his talent is like sticking a huge genie in a subatomic particle. Each Chapter covered a hue of his rainbow, which undoubtedly had to have been trimmed through a small prism. We walked away with a new reverence, and sense of gratitude to have had the innate wisdom to purchase the VIP tickets on the floor! Thank you JM and may we meet again:)

One of the best concerts we've ever seen--exceeded our expectations! John Mayer is quite possibly the greatest artist in our lifetime, we were saying, because he is great on so many fronts: his vocals, song writing, covers, guitar work, and genres of acoustic, ballad, blues, rock. His guitar playing is unbelievable. The show itself was innovative, full on for 2 1/4 hours, and just beautiful with the backdrops and floor scene and staging. And he is so nice to the audience and his band! The individual band members (and vocalists) are excellent. Lighting and sound spectacular. Just a great show!!

It was such a pleasure to see the John Mayer in person doing what he does best. He played for what must have been about 2 1/2 hours. From the get-go, he brought his passion and sound that you would come to expect from one of his studio albums. He's such a unique artist with a wide range of subject matter he covers in his songs. The only times he stopped with the music was to provide the audience with some background on how he came to write/perform a specific song before he played that song. He didn't touch the audience or come down from the stage at any point during the show, but honestly, I don't think that's his style anyway. He entertains the audience by playing his heart out. It was an amazing show! Each show is unique because he plays a different set list for each venue. I highly recommend it to anyone considering going to see him. I know I will have to go see him again! :)

After 17 years of perfoming and writing some the most classic, thoughtfull music John Mayer seems to have come full circle. Not only accepting the sometimes hated love songs that launched his fame, John has embraced his younger self and brought a new more mature perspective to his long journey. Playing songs from throughout his career as well as still having the gift of creating a new heartfelt album of soon to be classics. Thanks John and the boys.

You wont want to miss this Search for Everything tour! A fan since the early days, where I saw him as an acoustic opener for Glen Phillips in a small bar my senior year in college; I have watched John Mayer evolve. This is the most comfortable and free performance I've ever seen in Columbus, Ohio on April 12, 2017 and I have also watched videos from other stops on the tour. Through the years, John has consistently delivered insightful #lyrics, with stellar musicality, a captivating tone and memorizing #guitar riffs. All of that is better than ever. Telling a story with every performance, pulling from his diverse catalog of songs - there is something for everyone. And there were just as many guys as girls in the audience for a change. The band is phenomenal and John is free to get out of his head a little, move around and share the journey. Every moment flowed into the next and I had to make myself grab a few pictures and video clips to keep, while completely enjoying every moment. The large screen as a backdrop was perfect to give a close up for those in the back, with cool visuals for a "movie in the making" feel. Although we were extreme stage right, it was great to be close and watch the band interact and the guy pulling each guitar to match the song. Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino were on fire as a Trio with John. We were on our feet, dancing and moving the entire concert. And Dave Chappell adding a bit of laughter and heartfelt tribute to Charlie Murphy with John on piano for "Your gonna live forever in me" at the end - melted us. The best part was going with my friend since we were both 15 years old and our daughters who have been friends since birth - all JM fans. Our girls are now ages 17 and 18 and have grown up listening to John Mayer music. They bought their tickets with their own money even before we could afford to buy ours. We were sad he didn't have time to play Daughters or Gravity at our show. But we honestly couldn't name any songs we would have taken off the set list. Aint No Sunshine and Crossroads covers were two of my favorite songs. And watching John try to remember and play Why Georgia, another one of my favorites, was adorable as he asked fans to fill in the lyrics. "So what, so I've got a smile on" sums up the night. John seems happy and humble, authentic and as always, gorgeous. Thankful to have experienced this legend do his thang once again. "I still feel like your fan" (cue dancing pandas - girls wearing panda masks in the front row). I "still think I'm never gonna find another you."

This show was spectacular. The concept of breaking this show into "chapters" of his career was brilliant! The HD screen made me feel like I was in the scenes with him. John's voice was perfection - his guitar playing incredible. A beautiful mix of old and new. I love that he has reached this place in his life where he is so comfortable and humble. His comments to the Boston fans were touching. And let's not forget the Encore - and his departure from the stage! When he opened that door the Garden went crazy. An excellent show right up until the very end. The only negative is that the sound could have been better. It was difficult to understand everything he was saying when he was talking. The music was a little louder than his voice - his mike should have been louder. I expected better. Oh well.

As a huge fan of John Mayer, I loved the structure of his performance, reminiscent of "Where the Light Is". The set was divided into chapters: the whole band; acoustic set, John Mayer Trio; the whole band (reprise), the encore and Mayer all by himself at the piano. The video screen behind the performers was great, with close ups of the musicians, esp. Mayer, Paladino and Jordan. John mixed some of his new tunes with old favorites, showing off his great guitar licks, voice, song writing skills and ease with the audience.

I have been a fan since John's first hit and album came out. My favorite songs being Clarity and Vultures. I know every word by heart and have seen him in concert 3 times. This was by far the best concert! He used a different method of presenting his music which broke the show up into the different styles/chapters of his career thus far. He played the perfect mix of new and old songs. My favorite moment, other than the ending, was when he played an extended, acoustic version of Stop This Train! The video and lighting effects were beautiful as well during the entire show!

Let me put it this way. The first song he played was "Helpless" off of his first album. After this song, he could've said "and that's all folks! Thanks for coming out!" and I would have felt like I got my money's worth. So the fact that he played like another 15 or so songs was a freaking treat. John Mayer is just an incredibly talented artist. Highly recommend seeing him! P.S. the opening act, The Night Game were awesome too! Highly recommend checking out their stuff!

Concert was awesome! Started late but he more than made up for it! He was with the band, acoustic, and trio! Moving tribute to Glen Campbell as well!

John Mayer is just a virtuoso. He is easy listening one minute and then shredding your face off the next. He's a true icon and an incredible songwriter. He can appeal to the masses with pop, and the musical snobs with his lyrical content and guitar chops. The James Taylor (with more of an edge) of our generation. He did not disappoint.

John Mayer is always awesome in concert! His guitar skills are second to none. There were new songs, old covers from great artists and JM Trio.

From his "Storyline" theme and setting to his lovely, and touching tribute to Glen Campbell (who passed that same day), and everything in between, made this concert a WONDERFUL night of music, reflection, and humor. His sets: aka "Chapters" were done very cool, with 1st chapter his full band, 2nd chapter him on acoustic, 3rd chapter JM3, 4th chapter full band again w/ his newer music; 5th chapter his amazing encore. And all presented on the screen as the next "Chapter" began. It was different and thought out. I ve seen John every time he has stopped in Nashville, and this was hands down his best one yet. Memorable evening. Run, don t hide to see this show!

John Mayer has always been at the top of my list to see live in concert. I am so glad that I got to go see him in San Antonio. It was an amazing crowd and, of course, the performance was amazing by JM and his entire band. Not gonna lie, I have waited since the early 90's to see him perform and I got a little emotional when he took the stage!

John Mayer always put on an awesome concert. His opening act, The Night Game, was very good too. The 5 star rating was for John Mayer, not the overall experience. Like I said, John Mayer was awesome, but the show was not run as well as I've seen in the past. The Night Game started 45 minutes late. Then it too an additional 45 minutes for John Mayer to start. We got out too late to catch the Metro and had to call Uber. Aside from the delays, both bands performed well and overall were awesome. Talking Stick Resort Arena was also too loud. The music at Gila River Arena in Glendale was not nearly this loud. The Night Band and John Mayer 5 stars. Overall experience between Talking Stick Resort Arena and delays overall concert experience 4 stars. I would still come back for another concert at Talking Stick Resort Arena, although Gila River Arena's experience is much better.

I have seen John Mayer 7 times now. He is a guitar talent that you cannot appreciate until you see him go off live. The trio with Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino brings his game to a new level of energy. Nice to have them in the band as well. John played solo on guitar and delivered a phenomenal acoustic version of Neon. Great tour.

John Mayer is such a talented songsmith and guitar player! The variety of music he played was great; he rocked it, Blues'd it, accoutic'd it, and rocked it again.

All information prior to the show indicated that it started at 7:00PM. The Night Game opened for John, starting at 7:30PM. Never heard of them. They were pretty cool though. Reminiscent of some of the the 80's music scene. Great energy. They played for about 45 minutes. 45 minutes later John's set began. Overall I would rate the show highly. The stage was set beautifully with constant changes which kept if fresh and the audience engaged. John switched it up between electric, acoustic, and he even played some with his trio which was something I had never heard of before. The guy even plays the harmonica and piano; what a talent! I don't know if it's my age, ears, or the volume level but I couldn't make out a single lyric which was disappointing for me since I'm not really one to just go along with the beat. I need to hear the message of the song. That's why I rate it a 4 out of 5 stars.

Really enjoyed this show especially when Bob Weir made a surprirse appearance and played a couple of songs. I could have listened all night. He played a good mix of his collection, but of course if you're a true fan, it's never enough. Everyone of his songs was great and he was engaging with the crowd which makes it really enjoyable. I've seen him 3 other times and plan to see him whenever he comes back.

John Mayer put on a great show for his first time at The Barclays Center. The amazing sounds of his music completed the creative video backdrop. He even had Katy Perry sing a duet with him. The show was full of his wonderful sounding songs!! On the song Please Come Home For Christmas he sang a spirited rendition with his opening act Phillip Phillips. John Mayer is a great performer who really knows how to use his music skills!!

I've now seen JM five times. This event was the first I've seen since his granuloma. My last was his infamous breakdown in Nashville. This talented man showed a changed a person. Every show has been wonderful over the years, but this one was a glimpse of a man who remembered why he loved music so much. His voice sounded amazing and the soulful new music revealed that age does bring wisdom if you allow it.

We went to see John Mayer several years ago when he played in OKC at the Cox Center. The accoustics were fabulous! This year at the Chesapeake Arena, the sound was way too loud for the venue, which made the songs distorted and hard to understand. My husband had to leave his seat for awhile because his ears hurt so badly. My brother and sister-in-law wore ear plugs, which seemed to help them a lot. We love John Mayer, but the sound system really ruined the concert for us.

I am almost speechless at how great this concert was. It was an unforgettable experience. John Mayer killed it and I am still in a trance. His voice has come so far from earlier this year and his guitar playing was magnificent as always. Phillip Phillips was also really good even though I didn't really know any of his work. The guy on the keys for Phillip Phillips was awesome in the second to last song though. This entire concert was awesome and the best I have been to.
