Carbon Leaf does not get to S. Florida but once in a blue moon. There obviously was not a large fan base in Ft. Lauderdale but those of us who turned out were given a great show by this very talented group of musicians. They put on a 2+ hours performance mixing old favorites with newer material. Near the end of the set they ordered everyone in the theater to come up the stage to sing and dance. They even went without microphones and sang in wonderful harmony. Did a very personal and friendly meet-n-greet after the performance. Thank you CL for coming to S. Florida!!!

This is the 4th time seeing Carbon Leaf in concert and it was great as usual. I was pleasantly surprised by the opening band Alternate Routes. They were fantastic as well. Both are great bands that play excellent music. It was the first time I had attended the Varsity Theater venue. I liked the small personal atmosphere of the venue and the side seating if you get there early enough to get one.

Since this was on a week night, I don't think the bands or the audience had the highest expectations, but I think we were all pleasantly surprised. The opening band was really good. And Carbon Leaf delivered. They sang and played every song with heartfelt passion. The vocals are amazing. The instrumentals are extraordinary. And they played a nice long set. By the time the show ended, the place was buzzing with glee for having experienced the show, but sadness that it was over.

After watching Carbon Leaf in about 10 other shows in the Richmond and Tidewater regions this was their best show ever. Seeing as this was live, at The National in Richmond, the sound was perfect, the song selection was great, and it was being recorded for an upcoming DVD. All in all it was worth the $60 for 2 (including tax and processing fee).

Carbon Leaf sounded great and played a tremendous show. There was a heavy bias to the Indian Summer album, which was OK by me! New stuff sounded good. The band hung out in the lobby after the show to shake hands and pose for pictures. Really, really classy group.

I've been to a fair number of concerts and I'd say this was one of the best. The opening band was pretty good, Carbon Leaf played a good blend of new and old music, had fantastic crowd interaction, and the drinks were reasonably priced. The whole thing was as good as it gets. If they offered the exact same concert again nearby, I'd be buying tickets right now..

I have loved Carbon Leaf for over 2 yrs now, but they don't typically tour nationally so I was so excited when I saw they were touring all over, including Cincinnati. I immediately assured 9 of my friends that it would be a great concert and got them on the bandwagon, literally. The night of the concert was perfect. Carbon Leaf delivered a great live show and everyone was pleased! I can't wait to see them again! They sound GREAT live!

I have followed and enjoyed this band for at least 8 or 9 years. I loved their music from the beginning and now there is just so much more to enjoy! Every concert includes the stuff I love plus new music which is terrific. This concert featured their latest album which I had to buy immediately. It is a shame that the acoustics at the National were not able to sufficiently display the many talents of this band.

My 7th time seeing the band since 2002. 2nd time at the Sinclair, best new venue in Boston. Barry and the boys are consummate showmen and musicians. Just cannot get enough. Carbon Leaf puts on the best live shows and this one was a particular treat delivered just in time for the holidays. This was a tight set that felt loose and inviting. Carter's guitar work was honey - smooth and sweet. The man is incredible, giving brilliant performances on mandolin, violin, and what looked like a truckload of guitars. Barry's vocals are the heart of Carbon Leaf - going from disenchanted lover to rough and tumble. If Barry is the heart, then the soul belongs to Terry. His bright tenor is a perfect counterpoint to the plaintive Barry.

Great show in a great venue. I've seen Carbon Leave 5 times and they are always awesome. This show had different slant and rocked a bit more than others. I'm good with that and enjoyed every minutes. They played for 2 sold hours and had fun doing it. The band hangs out afterward and chats/pic taking with the crowd. I will go see them a 6th time for sure! And another note. The Sinclair fast becoming my favorite venue, displacing The Paradise which will be a close second. Both are good for small (but not too small) rock shows. Check it out.

I ended up at this concert because a friend recommended this band to me, they weren't a favorite or anything going in, to be honest I hardly knew their catalogue. I could not have been more impressed with their performance. Anytime a band plays a 2 hour set you have to give them massive amounts of praise and they went 2 hours straight. It was just epic, instrumentally, vocally, the lead singer adds a bit of performance art to the great lyrics, it was so cool to see them in such a small venue where you're right next to the stage to really appreciate the mid-song instrument changes, the incredible talent of the lead guitarist/banjoist/slide guitarist/violinist/any other instrument I think you could hand him, Carter. I cannot wait to see these guys again and would travel for the chance to do so.

Carbon Leaf has their own musical world wrapped up in a tasteful package that was a pure joy to be a part of last night. It takes a lot of hard work, to after all is performed, have that much fun. They also must be great friends to endure the travel, long nights, and generally difficult lifestyle of journeymen musicians. With the industry in transition they are producing their own tracks so, download a song or two from I-Tunes to help a musical cause. Frank

The Holiday show at the National was snowed out for the original date and had to be postponed to the following Monday, but was well worth the wait! Carbon Leaf is always an amazing band with so many layers of talent, but they really outdid themsleves this time around! The lights, the sound, the beautiful scenery on stage (Christmas trees, Christmas lights, etc) all came together to make for the perfect cozy evening with MY favorite band. Highlights included One Prairie Outpost "unplugged" audience singalong, the appropriate triple guitar "Snowfall Song," and acapella "Gloryland" tribute to September 11th victims. I love that Carbon Leaf always throws in songs from albums past like "Mary Mac." Nice to hear that one again. Thanks Carbon Leaf for an unforgettable evening!

Richmond-based Carbon Leaf was at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA to wrap up their 2017 tour before a final show at the Hamilton in Richmond. Their celtic rock sound is a constant crowd pleaser as they performed an eclectic set list from their expanding discography. Barry Privett leads the band with impeccable vocals as Terry Clark joined him in well-intoned harmonies Carter Gravatt is always top-notch with lead guitar, banjo, and autoharp support. The band also displays its sense of humor with the annual performance of the self-deprecating "Carter's Christmas Beard." Their opening band, a female duo named "Sawyer," warmed up the crowd with an innovative rendition of Taylor Swift's "Shake It off." Overall, Carbon Leaf continues to refine with age, and their shows never lose energy. The band members also deserve kudos for holding their usual meet-and-greet after the show, taking pictures with fans and signing autographs. There is no nicer bunch of guys in club-based music today. The trip is always worth it, no matter where you're coming from.

Carbon Leaf sounded great. They put on a great show, however, their opening band, the Accidentals, set the bar extremely high. The trio of youngsters started the show off with the drummer solo and rocked out the entire set. They played multiple instruments each, the lead singer had incredible stage presence for a 21 year old, the harmonies were amazing. I think I would have thought Carbon Leaf was even better if I hadn't heard the opening band first. Do yourself a favor and go see the Accidentals. You won't be disappointed. (Also, their live music sounds much better than their songs online.)

The band never disappoints, they look like they are having a great time with the music which transfers to the audience. Great band to watch and sing along with.

I only became aware of these guys two days before the show (went with a friend) and I now have all of their albums on my itunes. The live show was absolutely fantastic and I can't wait for them to come to the Western New York area again. It's too bad they had to leave later than night though, they missed all the snow they wanted to see!

Had seen Carbon Leaf before and this was a great opportunity to see them in a one of a kind venue. Played a great mix of old and new songs. Bear Den puts you right on top of the action.

Having the wonderful opportunity to see Carbon Leaf at the Birchmere the nite before I already knew I was in for a great show. What I saw was more than I had ever expected. It was pretty obvious the band was in the mood to play and make sure their audience had a great time! Every member radiated an exuberance well beyond expectation, the band was tight and the set list amazing! I hope the band continues a Birchmere/National one-two punch as it is a great way to spend the holiday season with old and new live music loving friends. Having The Alternate Routes open for them and come out for what was one of the most amazing finales I have seen was magical. There was no better Christmas present!

Carbon Leaf always closes their year with a show in Richmond. The show is always amazing. I believe it has to do with a home town crowd. This year they were joined by Altered Routes as the opening act. During the encore, Altered Routes joined them on stage. The crowd was treated with a amazing jam session.

This band just keeps getting better. Their old songs never get old and their new ones sound good right away. They had a great mix of old and new material and kept everyone happy!

I'm admittedly biased as Carbon Leaf is my favorite band, but the show was great as always. This show has become a much looked forward to Christmas tradition.

This was my first Carbon Leaf show only because the shows always conflicted with my kid's activities. Now I can't wait for the next tour.

This was the 2nd time seeing Carbon Leaf live. They are absolutely fabulous musicians! I am in awe of their talent! And the show is fun and entertaining! We saw them at the Birchmere, which is a more intimate venue with only table seating. I was worried that we would get bored watching a concert having to sit down the entire time (I usually stand and dance at concerts) but I was far from bored! Barry, the lead singer, is very funny and engaging and gets the audience laughing and participating. He even made everyone stand up (which may have been against the venue's 'rules') to dance and sing! My 12 year old son, who is a guitar player/song writer, REALLY enjoyed himself and was completely impressed with Carbon Leaf's talent!!!!! A must see show for sure!!

If you never seen Carbon Leaf in person you are missing one of the best concerts ever. I love their CDs but they are even better live. Great interaction with the crowd and amazing voices. Did an unplugged series of songs - it doesn't get any better. If you get the chance go see them - you won't regret it.

The show was awesome and and super fun. These guys are all incredibly talented. They are also super nice and came out at the end of the show to mingle with the crowd. It was my wife's B Day and seeing Carbon Leaf and then meeting them at the end was probably the best B day ever. I would also like to say the opening act was teriffic.

We acquired tickets from friends who were unable to attend and we are so glad we did. This was our first Carbon Leaf experience and Port City Music Hall experience as well. Both were amazing, as was the opener Sarah Blacker. We will be listening to both of them in the future!

The Sinclair was an excellent venue for Carbon Leaf, who more people should know of by the way. Acoustics worked really well for this type of band but even so, a girl on her late 20s told my friend and I to stop talking during the concert, which is outrageous at a rock concert. At the end of the concert the band chilled with the fans in the Sinclair lobby- a nice touch to end an A+ concert.

It's been a while since I've seen Carbon Leaf, but they still are a great band! Lots of energy and enthusiasm. I brought a friend who's never seen them and she is hooked. Loved the diverse crowd!
