To see Yo-Yo Ma life performance is a great experience I've had with classical music, but to see Placido Domingo sing was like to wish for a snow in Los Angeles. It did not snow last night, but man he did sing! Now I get a bit closer to what it was like to see the 3 tenors sing together. Yo-Yo Ma smiled as he played his cello and it was a smile of heaven. This is a performance to remember for as long as I live. Amazing......worth every penny and minute spent!

I drove out from Palm Springs to partake in this magnificent event.17,373 others also attended and listened as intently as I did. I was rather surprised that an audience could be that quiet. Ma was soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in Dvorák s Cello Concerto, and Domingo stood on the podium. I may not have the capacity to articulate as well as others might but this was the most exquisite show I could have ever hoped to happen upon. A Tuesday night of classical music turned into a once in a lifetime experience for me. I was thrilled when Domingo sang Massenet s Elegy, with Ma accompanying. The crowd was not expecting to have that little treat but were stunned to silence to hear. Ma and concertmaster Martin Chalifour magnificently seemed to egg each other on during a violin/cello duo in the Finale. I was sad to see it end. In my long drive home I was able to reflect on what I had just seen and the only word I can come up with is exquisite.

It's been my lifelong dream to see him in concert, but I don't get to NYC often. When I saw he was going to do a concert performance vs. full length opera in Boston, I thought really hard about it. It was a lot of money. My husband sported me 2 center orchestra tickets for my birthday! Money well spent. Placido may be 77, but you'd never know it. Vocally, he has still has it and then some. Sure, maybe he can't do those wicked high notes like the end of Nessun Dorma now, but who cares! The beauty of his voice is that he always had that baritone quality to his tenor. So much richer and gorgeous than many tenors who sound like they're going to bust a gut in the upper registers. It was a wonderful evening, complemented by Placido Jr and the two sopranos. If you get the chance to see him in concert, don't wait. Just go. You won't be disappointed.

The only reason I said that I would have recommended this concert is because of Yo Yo Ma, what an incredible artist, they should have brought him on the 2nd part of the show. Everyone was waiting for Mr. Domingo to sing, they did not bill this show or advertise that he would be conducting all night. Some of the musical selections were beautiful, some were very bland. Matter of fact, it droned on and on and I memorized one of pieces before it was even over, thats how repetitive it was. No excitement in this one. It was very dissapointing to say the least. I thought for sure Mr. Domingo would at least sing another song at the end of the program, when he did sing, it was an aria in French, not my favorite language. I kept feeling that Mr. Domingo was trying to impress us with his musical genius, nobody can deny that, but we want to be entertained. Most people in the audience were asleep, probably from all the wine that was consumed, which we could hear the bottles falling all nite.

Although it was not the best Dvorak concerto of Yo-Yo Ma's, he and Domingo were both entertaining, charming, and generous as usual, giving us two encores. Hollywood Bowl's sound system was so poor that we heard a lot of disturbing sounds such as frictions of clothes of the soloist at the cost of music, especially wood winds. Flutes and Bassoons were hid in the overwhelmingly enlarged solo and string sounds probably because too many microphones were set in the front. But the most disturbing factor was the audience. Not just applauding after every movement, they applauded in the middle of a movement. I prefer watching Ma's Dvorak on YouTube to going all the way to Hollywood Bowl, They should do something about the parking, too.

Brought my Aunt from Canada to hear Placido Domingo sing and Yo Yo Ma play. How did I miss the fine print, or was there any? Placido sang only one song! We weren't the only people shocked...people sitting next to us wondered the same thing.... how they missed the detail that Placido Domingo was conducting the La Phil. The music was lovely, the night memorable, but to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't have purchased tickets had I known that Placido was Not going to sing more.

The performance was wonderful. Yo-Yo Ma and Placido played well off of each other. After a solo by Yo-Yo Ma, Placido came back out and surprised us all. He sang while Yo-Yo Ma performed! One of the best performances I've seen at the Bowl.

Very fun evening! Shuttle there was great. A few problems leaving the event. It has to do with the venue exits, however. Absolutely loved Yo Yo Ma!!! I have his smile permanently etched in my heart! I loved Placido Domingo singing with Yo Yo Ma!! That was a highlight! Placido Domingo was awesome conducting. I only wish he would have sung more! It needed to be advertised different so we weren't disappointed. The second half needed that highlight.

Yo-Yo-Ma is brilliant and I could have listened to him all night. Unfortunately he only played in the first half. Not enough for being a headliner. Placido spent his whole evenng conducting the LA Philharmonic and it became a little sleepy. Placido Domingo and Yo-Yo-Ma did one duet together . I was hoping for more of Placido Domingo's beautiful voice. Not what I expected. Overall I was disappointed.

If you managed to battle through the traffic and made it to the hollywood bowl last night, you are one of the lucky ones on this planet. Domingo conducting one of the greatest concertos written, played by one of the greatest cellists ever, was extraordinary. Ma played with guts and held nothing back, and the joy on his face while he and Domingo wove the orchestra through moments of grace left me in awe of their superhuman talent. Oh, and the two encores? Did I mention their duet? What a rare feast for the senses,

The Boch Center was beautiful. The Orchestra was very well directed. Placido Domingo still has a beautiful voice, however the choice of songs was small, unheard of especially after they advertised that it would be the many songs that he has sung over the years. He had two Sopranos that sang with him, but they sang more than he did. They were beautiful singers as well. My son had taken me for a mothers day surprise, and we had to leave during intermission because we feel the event was falsely advertised and it was so disappointing.

Even at 77, Placido Domingo's voice is still strong, rich and powerful. Accompanied by an orchestra, a pair of sopranos, and his son, the show was full of wonderful music and entertaining as well (particularly the second set). The only issues I had were not related to the show - for some reason, they weren't letting people in to the side balcony entrances, which caused a bottleneck as people were trying to find their seats in that section. There was also a sound issue at the end, which kind of dampened a more celebratory finale, but otherwise I thought the sound and seating was fine.

Mixed feelings. Somewhat disappointed. First the cancelled original date without clear cause. Then they rescheduled without allowing us to pick our seats. There was never introduction of the musicians/symphony. Singers not introduced till very end. All opera songs were never noted. NO PROGRAMS AVAILABLE. would have been more meaningful and interesting had we known what opera he was singing. His accent is strong and English hard to understand even with his Great Voice. LOST THROUGH OUT WHOLE CONCERT. Mr Domingo does not interact with audience. Maybe he really did not want to be here. Audio and acoustics lacking and his voice unappreciable. Its unfortunate that serous attendees who purchased ticket more than 6 months before venue are not considered. His professional accomplishments are not dismissed rather respected. Audience needs respect also. Good luck with future concerts.

The acoustics were horrendous. Their were some moments of brilliance. However, his son's performances were agonizing, I"m sure Coach Pop would not have suited up Tim Duncan's son for any games. Placido is one of the greats and it is an honor to see him perform. Thanks for the memories!

Placido Domingo is as good as he has always been! I think I have been to every concert he has done in San Antonio. I was disappointed when the original show was postponed but the wait was worth it. Domingo sang a duet ,"Perhaps Love." with his son. I have that album which Placido produced with John Denver. The copyright date of the album is 1981. Placido sounded just like he did on the album!!! I was also pleased with the venue. Originally, our seats were for Ochctr, Row 112. When we arrived, there was no Row 112. The usher took us to the box office to exchange the tickets. We were given Ochrt, Row 2!!! This was second row from the stage!!!! This was as close as I have ever been to my favorite tenor!!!! The only negative -- no programs!

Give the show a "5." Placido Sr. was magnificent. Never knew Placido Jr. was so talented. Wonderful voice. Orchestra was a "5." Venue was a "2." Theater is very nice, but the sound was horrible. Once could not hear the words being sung. Volume was much too low for the singers. When Placido spoke, he could not be heard or understood, and we were not very far away. Very disappointing.

The concert was originally supposed to be the Alamodome Illusions theatre. I had a seat on the third row towards the center. When the venue was changed to the Lila Cockrell theatre, I was assigned a seat on the seventh row, to the far right, almost to the end of the row. It was far inferior to my original seat. What's more, it was clear that they had put some patrons in the center, others to the far sides, and MANY seats in the middle of each row that no one ever sat in. It was clear that they were trying to sell those seats at a higher price, rather than give their customers that had already purchased tickets a seat equivalent to the one they had already chosen. This leaves an extremely bad taste in my mouth. I don't know who controlled that - probably Placido Domingo's business managers - but I wanted to let them know I thought that was extremely unfair and shady and I would never attend another of his concerts because of that. Eventually I moved into a slightly better seat in one of the many empty unsold seats, but it was still not nearly as close as I should have been. Shame on you. Oh, the concert was fine. Much different than I expected. PD sang only about a third of the time. The rest of the time it was either the symphony or other singers. They were good, but not who I paid over $350 to see. Another reason I wouldn't do it again.

Loved the 1st part and did not care for 2nd half. Musical instruments over powered singers. Sub par acoustics unless u sit in the very front. Lastly, Opera singers should not be trying to sing pop songs with their vibrato voices.

A very special treat to hear Placido live. Amazing voice even at age 77... Very nice to see how gracious, humble, and friendly he was at the reception even after a 3-hour show. SA Symphony was great, as was Ana Maria Martinez. Fun to see Placido's son sing with him, too. (Ally Brook from SA has a good voice but a very poor choice of clothing, boobies about to fall out and she couldn't walk in her gown, no class, looked slutty.) If you ever have the opportunity to attend a concert of Placido's, do not miss it! The small venue made it especially intimate, just a perfect evening.

Loved the performance. The only thing that my husband and I did not like was that we were not given a program. There was not an MC to let us know which piece Placido was going to sing, so we were lost since most of the music was opera. We would have loved more "popular songs" which we know he signs, but it was still beautiful, his voice is incredible.

It was a wonderful show, less operatic than I had expected but wonderful. At 75 his voice was still the strongest on the stage - Amazing! He also presented two female singers with him and a special presentation from Juanes. I had heard that Juanes was going to be there and was so excited when I saw him. I loved the show - I had never seen Placido Domingo live before and was not disappointed. I loved the fact that he also alternated with a few popular songs. The last segment of the show was a full mariachi band and several mariachi songs. It was a really fun way to end the show. And at the end the Mariachi led the audience in song wishing him a happy birthday.

Plácido Domingo displayed his talent and versatility. The concert started out with opera pieces (as expected) and later included Zarzuela, Broadway, Country Music, Tango, Classic Latin American Music (Siboney), and even Mexican Rancheras! His guests were not only two great sopranos, but also Juanes and a Mariachi Band. Undoubtedly the best concert I have been to in a while!

I am glad that attended Domingo's concert. Among other things, he made me aware of his warmth, not just as a performer but as an individual. He was courteous, affable and even showed some "picardia." He had a mezzo soprano and a soprano in tow. I thought that just having one or the other would have been enough. By the way, I could not tell who they were. There was no program or announcement, to introduce them to the audience. Probably, a behind the scenes announcer would have helped. To feature Juanes and a mariachi band was a strange idea that, nevertheless worked. It gave the public a chance to see Domingo on a more down-to-earth role. Furthermore, it allow the tenor to address directly his Mexican origins. Over all, Domingo was in good voice. A couple of times, at the end of some of the songs, his voice lost its luster and power. Nevertheless, I will treasure forever the pleasure of hearing him sing in Italian, English and Spanish some of my favorite melodies.

To listen to Plácido Domingo is an unforgetable experience. He is very talented, charismatic and the sopranos Angel Joy Ble and Micaela Oeste were awesome, performed very well. I was very excited. Its a great pleasure having this kind if outstanding talents at Berkeley and near Oakland. The Greek teather is beautiful and watching this concert under the sky and stars was magical and wonderful! Please bring more talents like this to the Greek Teather

absolutely wonderful concert. All 3 performers were outstanding. It was a really good program. I never dreamed I'd ever get to hear Placido Domingo in person. How lucky can I be!!

The Berkeley Symphony is very average, and Domingo is past it. He was OK in the baritone range, but could not hit the tenor notes. The American musicals were ghastly. I did not expect so much of the program to be other performers. Not worth the cost!!!

I expected it to be wonderful but it was well beyond my expectations--Domingo's resonance vibrated inside and all around me and made me cry. And I loved every piece--even the ones I wouldn't ordinarily much care about. The two sopranos with him were both simply fabulous and the 3 of them together created a magnificent show. Also the weather was terrific for the outdoor venue. These were the most expensive tickets I've ever bought and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

The perfect mix of Arias, show tunes and fun! I have to say this was one of the best, if not the best concert I have been to! I did read many reviews before we went and I was a little disappointed that we didn't get the Mariachi surprise but I am certainly not complaining and would go see Placido again! Loved it! My husband my in his zone the entire evening!

What a concert! I could never imagine that Mr. Domingo will be on stage for so many numbers, i.e. he was not like a pop star who appears after 2 hours of the warm-ups. He was present almost constantly on the stage. He is in a great artistic form, the orchestra (Berkeley Symphony) was outstanding, 2 young sopranos were up to par with the great Master. Overall, extremely enjoyable and memorable event.

Once Placido warmed up, his singing was fantastic. Hard to believe a man of his age has been able to maintain his voice quality and power in such a demanding field. Micäela Oeste sang with melody and tenderness. Angel Joy Blue has a very powerful voice, but unfortunately she overpowered some songs. Great for baseball not opera. Needed to work on her Italian pronunciation. Still has a bit a English spin to it.

Fantastic event. The two guest sopranos, Angel Joy Blue and Micaela Oeste, are simply AMAZING, so incredibly talented and beautiful. Domingo holds the show with the easiness of the long-time performer, even dancing a waltz with his brilliant guest sopranos, cracking jokes and providing the audience, very generously, with a long encore (about 30 minutes!) in which he performed - to our imaginable excitement - "Besame Mucho" and "Granada", among other things. What a privilege to be able to watch him perform live. Don't miss this opportunity, even if you don't like opera.

My father sings Opera and therefore he was my guest. At 80 years old he looked at me after the event and said it was the best performance he had ever seen, better than the Three Tenors.

Concert at the Greek Theater a great idea. Beautiful night. HOWEVER, the sound and lighting team should be ashamed! Ruined the night for many of us. The music overpowered Placido and other singers, the lighting didn't get their act together till half way through concert, just horrible. Thank goodness they are professionals and can belt it out so we could hear. But what Placido does in quieter moments usually is magical and we just couldn't hear and we were right in front of a speaker! Really unfortunate for them as they deserved better. Very disappointed and that made it not worth the price. Otherwise, enjoyed the performers.

We could have been in Vienna, Florence or Weisbaden as the evening was unmatched in all my years of attending world class events. He is an amazing talent with great showmanship and his guests were equally talented and presented great charm to the audience. The Berkeley orchestra was outstanding and the venue made you feel like you were attending an old world event!!

He was awesome and so were the soprano and dancer that performed. The Mariachi was a great surprise and wonderful final touch. I only wish people were refined ennough to show up on time; some were showing up as much as an hour late.

Placido played to the audience and you felt that he was sing to each of us personally. His soprano partner was equally dynamic and her voice was angelic. The dancer was OK but could have been skipped. Placido is an international star like no other person, He has sang for World Cups and the Spurs equally dynamic. The concert was the best that we have attended and my wife enjoyed her birthday present.

A truly incredible performance, even for a listener who isn't a huge opera fan. Can't believe his voice and energy level at 70 years old. Additionally, Ana Maria Martinez was almost better than he was. Overall: outstanding. Bravo!

It will be the most memorable night of my life. Palacido Domingo was unbelivable. I am blessed to finally have had the honor to see him perform, thanks to my son. It was very special and endearimg to me. This is the music I grew up with. I hope he comes again soon. Ana Maria Martinez was also outstanding and magnificant.

The concert was vibrant , exciting, full of musical variety by the world's greatest tenor. Floor seats very comfortable, sound was excellent. Nothing negative to say about the concert. I hop to see Placido Domingo in concert again. One terrrible logistical problem was the continued seating of latecomers during the performance. Even at Spurs games you cannot proceed to your seat until there is a stop in the action. San Antonio Opera must demand the AT&T Center shows proper courtesy to those patrons who arrive on time and return to their seats promptly at intermission by not seating latecomers during the performance of musical numbers. This distraction was unnecessary and impolite as well as discourteous to patrons and performers as well.

Enjoyed out evening with Placido. The sound and lightening was excellant. I would have preferred a larger jumbo tron screen but our seat were good enought not to have to use the screen. The seats were comfortable. We liked the second act and the interaction with the audiance and Marriachi's

Fabulous! I was a little worried b/c I had just learned that he recently turned 70, so I wondered how great his voice would be. My doubts were completely unfounded. He was superb and even though the acoustics at AT&T are forgettable, his voice was certainly not and he overcame the surroundings and just belted out song after song. The encores were great; a majority of them were with a full Mariachi band and he was in full Mariachi wardrobe too and the crowd loved it. I can say I sang along with Placido Domingo now! :) I didn't know he would be accompanied by Ana Maria Martinez or a classical Spanish dancer so at first, I was a bit skeptical. However, they were also great and won me over with their talent and performances. It was a great way to spend an evening.
