Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is the classic story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress.  If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

The cast and crew put on a spectacular show. It moved along smoothly and precise. The leads were spot on with there characters. The songs were perfect, Be Our Guest and Human Again were the showstoppers. It was truly a night I will never forget soon.

Loved the show!! All of the characters were so in touch with the characters from the Disney film that we are all so familiar with. They all seemed to capture the authenticity behind the story and reveal the true characters beneath. The creative scenery and versatile props made each scene flow into the next, especially using individuals that blended into the background to move the prop sets around, off or onto the stage. The only thing that I would suggest would be the volume of some of the characters. You could hear Belle, Gaston, and The Beast, but at times, it was hard to hear LeFou, Lumiere, and Babette.

The set was exquisite. The voices and instrumentation beautiful. The acting well done. Loved the costuming. I would have rated it five stars... BUT!!! The sexual innuendos were absolutely unacceptable. There were many children who attended, with starry eyed little girls dressed as Belle. I would have been FURIOUS if I had brought my little girl and she had been exposed to Gaston promising adulterous affairs to the women of the village and inappropriate touching of the women, the various innuendos and movements made by Lumiere and Cogsworth, and the loose behavior of the French maid. This show would have been incredible without this "comic relief." The innuendos just cheapened and tainted what would have been a fabulous show that I would have recommended and watched over and over again! Clean it up!!!

This show was absolutely amazing! The orchestra was great if I hadden't actually seen them playing I would have thought that I was pre-recorded, the music was so beautiful. I could say the same thing about the actors as well. They did such a fantastic job and their singing was so great that If I had not been actually there I would have believed someone if they said that it was all from a CD. The show was great and I would surley go back and see it again if it came again. Our seats were not the best in the house but the show was great none the less. I would definately recommend to anyone that is somewhat interested in seeing this show to go, especially if you love Beauty and the Beast this is a must see show!!

My wife had seen B&B on Broadway, so she was a little disappointed in the transformation scene, though understood the ldynamics of a traveling show. My daughter and I liked it, but in all fairness were a little tired from the long day on the San Antonio River. The biggest disappointment were the two ladies two rows infront of us that texted throughout the first act. If they had been one row closer, I would have delt with them. A must see... at least once.

Beauty and the Beast had very strong performers who sang powerfully and emotionally. We have absolutely no complaints about the actors. They were very much the human personification of the animated movie. The show was generally good, but it did not flow very smoothly. The scene changes were either chaotic or seemed to have timing issues. Unfortunately, the show we saw had technical difficulties when the Beast is transformed into the Prince. They had to lower the curtain and lights, so we waited in the dark for about 5 minutes for the show to continue. The final number went off without a hitch, but overall my daughter and I were less than dazzled. The show, including an intermission, is over 2.5 hours long. I heard several younger children asking if the show was over and getting restless. The first act was almost 1.5 hours -- much too long to be sitting in small theatre seats. This musical is no Lion King, which I've seen three times. I don't know that I would see Beauty and the Beast again.

I had seen Phantom of the Opera back in 2007 and I loved it! It was an unforgettable experience. So when learned that Beauty and the Beast was back in San Antonio I got my credit card ready!! This time I chose seats on the bottom floor and was super lucky because when I went online to purchase them nearly everything on the bottom floor was sold out. The lighting was amazing, the effects were amazing as well. The actors did such a great job portraying the characters in their true light. The comedy that was attached was also very well placed within the original story. I just loved it. My boyfriend loved it too! He said he'd gladly see it again. It was his first experience with theater! Everyone should experience this for themselves!

This is the third time I see Beauty and the Beast I have seen in different performing arts centers. I guess they have changed it a bit, new lines, new choreography. This one has some humor to it, so there was a laughter here and there, which I guess its okay, since this performance is kind of serious. Her attire at the end was not as impressive and the "be our guest" performance was not as impressive I thought, even Disneyworld I think is more elaborate. Good performance over all, glad I got to see it, plus I had a price reduction in the ticket so it was a good idea. Also the Beast changing from Beast to Man, I believe I had seen it done in a more "magical way"

This show was amazing. The whole cast did a phenomenal job. I took my sister as a graduation present. She has been obsessed with Beauty and the Beast since she was little, and she cried at the very end. She loved it which made it so much better. Definitely impressed by the performances. Only thing we both agreed on was, we wish there were bigger bathrooms at the theatre. The lines were very long and almost didn't make it back to our seats when the show started after the break.

The performance was great, the cast was great and the singing and character voices were almost identical to the movie. The main complaint I have is the fact that the show started while there was a line of people wrapped around the building. By the time we got in there the show had been going for at least 15 minutes. Considering I paid over $200 for my tickets that was pretty upsetting. I feel they could have at least waited till people were actually seated. It was the final show of the whole performance for our state, it's not as though they had another show afterwards so I didn't understand the rush. Other than that it was a good show.

The magic that was instilled in us as we watched Beauty and the Beast as children on video comes to life in NETworks presentation of Beauty and the Beast. The set, the characters, the performances, the dance numbers, everything was exactly what you imagined as you were a child acting out your favorite parts in your fort castle in your living room. It was truly a dream come true. I haven't been to the theater since I was in high school. I took my wife to this show because it was her favorite Disney movie; but it was I that found myself in tears by the end. I was speechless. I was overwhelmed, I was moved. This brought the magic to life for a man that lost his belief in such things. If this review finds it way to any of the cast or production crew, I want to say thank you from the depth of my now inspired heart.

I took my 15 year old daughter to see Beauty and the Beast because she was in her high school's production of the same musical in March. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute. After seeing the Gaston number with the clanking steins, my daughter told me that it put her school's version to shame. But I told her that her school version was awesome, but this version was "even awesomer." The colors and artwork of the scenes gave a story book effect to the production. The staging and special effects were very clever.

To be honest, I was not sure what to think going in. I'm not one that has ever gotten into plays but as of late, I've been fortunate to have wife that knows how to pick them. This was great. I was actually also about 2 months out of surgery and this was one of the first bigger dates we had gone on since having that. It was a very amazing and pleasant experience and a wonderful way to celebrate my "return to normal life" after surgery. The music was incredible, the story amazing and the cast did an excellent job. We will absolutely consider seeing it again the next time they return to Houston or we are in a city it is being performed in. You will not be disappointed.

Beauty and the Beast was great! Au-Rene theater was great, but offering so many snacks does a disservice to the actors! After intermission all I could hear was candy wrappers and smell food, it was very distracting. Being a huge Disney nerd and being a huge theater geek, we were let down by this production. We were so excited to see this show since it is always a hard ticket to get when it comes to South Florida---but I knew something was up when I got tickets so easily...(we went to the 1pm show on a Sunday and it mezzanine was half empty which is shocking...) The visuals were great but the cast was not great. We felt they played too much to try and get the children in the audience to laugh. - the actress cast as Belle (although she is very good at singing) was not right for this role. - Beast/Prince Adam was just ok but very forgettable. - the best cast member was Gaston---he had the best acting and singing out of the whole ensemble. Over all we left the theater feeling under whelmed- I wouldn't see this production again unless the tickets were gifted to me.

I'm a Disney fan, so made sure to get tickets for Beauty and the Beast. I enjoyed seeing the full-length story, and this cast performed well. It is a long production, the children around me certainly thought so. Their attention was held during the familiar parts of the story, and lagged at other times. The audio was uneven, and it was difficult to hear most of the dialog, even Gaston's voice rarely made it to the first row of the balcony. I will attend performances at this theatre again, and hope the audio is better.

I went to this musical as a gift to my girlfriend for her birthday. I like Beauty and the Beast but wow, this was awesome! The whole play was entertaining and the signing was great. Only complaint is about parents brining small children to a 630p showing. Why so late? I had a 3 year old screaming her head off.

My wife loves Beauty and the Beast the movie, so I took her for our anniversary. We both loved it. The entire cast was energetic and there were funny points for both children AND adults. Plus, the Fox is so beautiful! Great place to see a musical

The play is amazing, we loved it, what we were able to see of it anyway.... The Fox Theatre is terrible for these types of events. I have been there twice now and had the same awful experience both times. People entering and exiting the entire play, on their phones, taking videos, pictures, talking through the whole play. It was terrible. I will never return the Fox for any production.

My fiancé and I were excited to see this Disney classic and the Disney magic that accompanied it. I didn't feel that magic nor did I feel like the performance was very entertaining. However, my fiancé said that she enjoyed it very much. It didn't help that a staff member of the Theatre forced me to delete pictures of the cast bowing at the conclusion of the show. I was going to leave with a sour taste in my mouth had that not occurred, though.

I had never seen BatB live before, so I was super excited that I actually had the chance to see when it came to Detroit. And I am just so gleeful after it! It was so satisfying to watch it and it was SO WELL DONE. Set: In one word? Colors. So bright and vivid! It was so beautiful to look it! And the Rococo design influenced everything that crossed the stage, from the curtains, to the floor, to the castle's backdrop. The set pieces of the village looked staunchly like recreations of the Disney movie, and the backdrop of the village scenes was a tapestry of nature, which I thought was clever. The costumes also coincided with the set in their designs. Staging: All. Of. The slapstick. I was so taken aback by that approach, but somehow... it worked! And it was funny! And their use of sound effects was so nicely done. It added a LOT to everyone's characters and their individual funny moments. But when it was serious, you knew it was serious, whether by the actors' demeanors or the lighting changed. Their use of lighting was beautiful too. Swirling circles of dots were prominent in chorus numbers like "Be Our Guest" and "Human Again." Belle: I was unsure if I would like her or not, but then I heard her really sing in "Belle," and I realized she sounded just like Susan Egan. But I didn't really appreciate her until she and Maurice had their moment in place of "No Matter What" (which was cut). She is a pure mezzo-soprano and rocks it! She was also SO sassy! I loved it! She would put the Beast in his place, but after the wolves, she would joke with him! I just appreciated that because it really felt right. She's not humorless and she does know how to have fun, and I think most people miss that about her. This actress was spot on. Beast: He wasn't some 40-year-old dude! I was ecstatic just for that fact, but he also blew me away! He was this angsty teen but it was endearing, and he was so adorkable! I've seen people try to play him so seriously, but he honestly is this immature teen in a beast's body, and he portrayed it perfectly. He was stubborn and he challenged Belle openly but when they were falling in love he looked like he was really trying to be charming and he was failing adorably! I loved him so much! Gaston: I had some high expectations for him, as anyone would, right? I look in the program and he's been in two Mozart operas. I couldn't wait to hear his voice! In that I wasn't disappointed--it was very rich and manly--but he didn't use his opera voice enough! (As much as I wanted him to anyway...) He also played Gaston like he was a Southern California jock... He had that inflection in his voice and I didn't really care for it. He was funny, and everyone else liked him, especially my friend, but I wasn't crazy about him. Granted, he was still funny! Lefou: Man, did that guy get his butt kicked! He was doing somersaults from Gaston's constant beatings. But the energy! You have to have energy to play that role though, but he did really wonderfully with the character! He and Gaston were great together! Maurice: This actor had some Shakespeare credentials, which showed, but not in the best way. He didn't play Maurice as the oblivious, dotty father, though, which I appreciated in some cases. He was very realistic in his take on him, and I think this helped connect with Belle so much more nicely. However, as compared to the rest of the cast's insanity, it seemed a bit out of place. It's a musical, so you need to have a bit of a "theatrical" approach, you know? Lumière: Oh, the mixed feelings. He was sooooo over-the-top. The energy coming off this guy was tangible, and you couldn't help but like that about him, but it was just like... stereotypical Frenchman. All of the flair, and ALL of the innuendos. The parents loved him for them. He cracked up the kids too with his over-exuberance. And yet, it didn't feel completely out-of-character to me. There was this hopeless romanticism about him when he would get so excited about Belle and Beast. What I liked was that he had enough serious moments when he grappled with losing his humanity that was actually very poignant. And his bromance with Cogsworth... Loved it! Cogsworth: This guy was SO ON POINT. His characterization was just flawless, and he made Cogsworth so incredibly endearing! I just adored him! I've seen Cogsworths that couldn't hold a candle to Lumière onstage (pun totally intended), but this actor held his own! He had some AMAZING funny moments! His two famous lines were perfectly delivered (I will never get tired of the "Baroque" joke, I just never will) and his character quirks were brilliant. A+++ Mrs. Potts: She was capable of holding her own with the threesome, but she wasn't particularly memorable, in my opinion. But then again, I think it's even harder to make her memorable with no real opportunities to get funny moments out during or between her lines. She had a lovely voice, speaking and singing, but other than that, she was a bit in the background. Babette: In terms of the musical's context, she was perfect, and hysterical. She was adorable, and with Lumière... oh God, I was almost crying from stifled laughter during their banters. Her outfit was also deliciously scandalous, and she could move and pose like nobody's business. Chip: The little sweetheart! He was so cute in his little tea cart and hat! What else can I possibly say? Madame de la Grande Bouche: She. Was. FABULOUUUUS! This actress knocked this role out of the park like nobody I've ever seen!! Her energy was AMAZING, her costume was GORGEOUS (very 18th century with the side hoops that were her drawers!), and she embraced and epitomized her inner primadonna. She was perfect and hilarious! She was definitely one of my favorites! Puppets?: Yes! Puppets! They had the hag that turned into an enchantress be a puppet, which was very interesting. The enchantress was also, like, 15 feet tall. The wolves were also puppets, but the puppeteers were in black morph suits. There were two people per wolf, one per two legs, front and back, and with the way the lighting was, it looked really cool! They jumped, bit, and howled! I really liked that take on them! Overall, the cast felt really tight-knit and fleshed-out, the set was mind-bogglingly beautiful, and I was on the verge of tears because of absolute elation the majority of time. I absolutely adored it in every way.

I thought it was great! Performers were very close to the movie so that made it even better. Next time I'll spend more money on closer seats.

It was OK. It wasn't the Broadway production I was expecting. The set was disappointing. Be Our Guest was disappointing. Gaston was the best part and the only cast member we could hear clearly. Something was wrong with the sound. I wouldn't go again unless it was on Broadway.

Took my 7 year old son to see this in Detroit. He loved it, and at the end of the day, thats all that matters for a show like this. I was lucky enough to see the original production in New York when the show first opened, so I'm a bit spoiled. Touring productions many times bring along a streamlined version of the show for easy transport and setup and thats totally understandable. Some shows streamline more than others. Beauty and the Beast streamlined just enough where I was able to say to myself "hey wait...what happened to (insert visual effect here). Its still a great show, with great songs, sets, costumes, etc. but if you saw the original show, you might have a similar "hey....". Side note: merchandising. Why on earth would they not offer shirts in kid sizes to a show like this? And since when do they charge you for putting the merchandise in a plastic bag. Oops, I mean "collectable tote". $5 for a plastic bag? Really?

Beauty and the Beast was overall a great performance. The crew and cast did an amazing job. CONS -There could have been more money put into the sets. Two stage crew men were dressed as "Egyptian servants" and remained on stage 50% of time to rotate the larger sets. If the sets were automated, this would have made them better and the men less distracting. I spent several random moments trying to figure out WHY? -Due to the lack of money placed into the sets, the main Beauty and the Beast ballroom scene was a FAILURE. I don't want to spoil it, however, from the way Belle entered the stage, I knew a disappointing scene would follow, and it did. -There was an all "one race" cast. The beauty of theatre is bringing together beautiful people of all kind onto one stage, and this play definitely lacked this. PROS -Talented cast. The voices and dances were true Broadway quality. -Costumes were gorgeous.

Great for both adults & children. Very captivating. Lots of vibrant colors of costumes & set. Did a great job of bringing the movie to life. NOTE if you have seen Lion King the musical Beauty & Beast is not performed the same way. Lion King the actors operate puppets while in Beauty the actors wear costumes to portray the characters.

Performance was fantastic, venue was subpar. Seats are awful as far as view and comfort and they were very expensive. Patrons were allowed to wander during performance.

you cant go wrong with b and b. however, it wasnt as good as the first time i saw it. music was rather tinny, the stage rather small, and the actors played more for an adult audience. i took my 2 (adult ) daughters and my 2 grand-daughters (9yr, 4yrs) the 4 yr old fell asleep half way through the first act.

This show continues to be just so much fun and so entertaining. The cast was basically the same cast as in the past, but seems so fresh still. Either I see new things or new things are added. This must be our 4th time to see BandB and we still love it. This is one of our top 3 Broadway shows and we have seen close to 60 shows.

There was a light on by my seat. It was disturbing to my eyesight. I seem to recall curtains being placed by these lights without hurting safety. The sound was somewhat muffled and I thought I might be losing my hearing except that my 26 year old daughter.complained of the same thing. I saw the original BandB before it went on Broadway. ( in Houston) I also did not recognize all of the songs, so I guess several songs had changed since then.
