The band was nearing the end of a long tour when they played my town.Yet they were full of energy, joy and love of their craft. Mr. Wilson played to all ends of the venue, and he also joked and chatted with us. When the band appeared on stage, the whole venue stood up, such was the energy. Each band member got to shine in their solos. They moved around stage in rock star poses. No static playing here. Well, except for drummer Craig, he didn't have much choice! The band played the whole of Mr. Wilson's Hand Cannot Erase album and then a few Porcupine Tree songs and other highlights from Mr. Wilson's solo albums. There was also a cover of Prince's Sign "O' The Times - Mr. Wilson is a big fan. The band bowed to us at the end. No, I bow to you, my dear sirs. I cannot wait to see them again! We shall see if he keep this combo together for the next album cycle.

Steve Wilson is truly one of the great musical geniuses of our time! His range of style influences and art is unmatched in today's music. He pulls from so many genres that it is next to impossible to categorize his music into one distinct class. He also manages to surround himself with the most amazing musicians. Marco you are truly a god on the drums! Go acquaint yourself with Steve Wilson and Porcupine Tree and your view of music will forever be altered for the better!

The fact is, I haven't been to that many concerts. I'm picky about who I go see. I had high expectations for this performance, and I was not let down in any way. I could describe everything in details, from the stunning visuals to the masterful musicianship, but that would give too much away. The energy was high throughout the evening, and most important, the emotion shone through during the performance, which is my highest priority. My one negative is that the sound quality wasn't quite right for the flute, but I am almost certain that was where I was positioned in the venue. A great night. I only wish it could have been longer!

Steven Wilson once again provided an unforgettable night of entertainment. I have seen him twice now, once with Porcupine Tree and once as a sole act. Both were incredible. The music is enough but the visuals were an awesome Enhancement.

I thank my son for introducing me to this outstanding musician. I try to keep up but somehow let this amazing musician get past my attention. I would highly recommend Steven Wilson's music and attending his live performance. The imagery along with the music was an experience that will not be forgotten. I look forward to this next pass through LA, Phoenix or Denver ( places I live). Thank you Mr. Wilson for a most enjoyable evening of music.

Steven Wilson: one of the best concerts of my life! Only Genesis, Radiohead, and Rammstein can compete. So much better than MUSE, although I didn't expect that. Truly interesting music with depth, non-trivial concepts, textures, harmonies, rhythms, arrangements. And Wilson hires exceptional musicians: virtuosos with heart and imagination. And then you don't need lasers & pyrotechnics for anything smile emoticon Just good, minimal lights & old-school projections and we were moved to another world. The audience definitely knew and loved Wilson's music. People mostly sat almost completely still, hypnotized, only getting up for standing ovations. They played 2 great sets, but I could stay for few more hours of that experience. I will definitely try to catch them again somewhere, sometime. Orpheum Theater is a nice venue & acoustics was really good.

This was a unique show because Steven Wilson lost his voice the night before and most of the lead vocal duties were shared by Israeli singer Ninet and lead guitarist Dave Kilminster. We were at first just thrilled that they did not cancel the show, but the truth is that this was amazing! They did the songs proud, and we loved the show from start to finish. Kudos to all involved, especially Mr Wilson for allowing the magic to happen:)

The Steven Wilson concert was quite amazing and even though Steven Wilsons had lost his voice, Ninet Tayeb filled in quite nicely. I had seen the Steven Wilson concert last year at the Best Buy Theater & it was one of the greatest shows I had seen. Since I was able to see Steven sing at that concert, it was an interesting change to have Ninet sing many of the songs this time around. I will definitely be seeing Steven Wilson in concert when ever he comes back to New York again....he's a great talent that should not be missed by anyone who loves progrock done at the highest level.

Last Saturday was another example of great music and lovely discovery of Ninet Tayeb an Israeli singer who helped Steven with vocals due to his illness. This is A+ rated music and performance. Steven Wilson at the Wiltern was a perfect concert. The Wiltern in Hollywood is small (about 2000 people) and gorgeous. The sound was like a giant stereo, and the volume was just up to the edge of too loud, but not too loud... perfect. The lights and video footage behind the band was interesting and complimentary. The setlist was perfect. The band was flawless. Every nuance could be heard. The vocals were pure and beautiful, the guitar solos soared. And Steven Wilson spoke to the audience casually and often. They played for a little over two hours. It was pure bliss from beginning to end. If you are a Steven Wilson fan, or a fan of the genre, go. You won't be sorry.

Steven Wilson was upbeat and engaging. His music can be disturbing and enlightening but always mesmerizing and beautiful. The coolness factor was the surroundsound setup. I did not expect it and when the rear speakers started to engage, a new wow factor was realized. When Wilson returns to Southern Cal, I will buy tickets according to where I believe the sound will be optimal. Too far back and too much rear channel. The show itself was phenomenal. I just hope he produces many many many more albums.

If you desire your entertainment to be quality...unforgettable.....unpredictable....if you are patient, open minded...and love rich, quality sonic spaces then you must see Steven Wilson. He surrounded himself on stage with wonderful, accomplished, dedicated musicians. I am a middle aged, suburban wife/mother of 2...Not the common demographic of Steven Wilson's fans. While his imagery and subject matter are sometimes on the edge of odd...i dedicate myself to the journey he creates. Heavenly... and the perfect amount of Hellish. The concert provided an outlet for the audience who was, at his request, willing to have self restraint during the quiet surreal moments of some very long pieces. (Raider II extends 24+minutes.) I know i speak on behalf of his fans... we are so grateful he chose to play in Minnesota on this tour. We are hopeful for his return in the near future.

Great gig! The sound was clean and the HOB is a very intimate venue. I must say Steven Wilson knows how to put together an excellent setlist. It s a mixture of pure pop with a healthy dose of heavy rock - just don t call it Prog . His music is much than that. I ve seen every Porcupine Tree and every solo SW tour in the past (including the previous nights show at the Wiltern in LA) and let me say that he never disappoints. Can t wait for his next tour

Steven is always great, and he knows how to put on a show for his fans! I wasn't completely satisfied with the overall mix of the sound in the room. Steven Wilson is a British Prog Rock artist who writes moody, depressing, melodic, heavy prog rock tunes that make you introspect. I loved this show as it showcased his versatility in styles. He included the new album, "To The Bone" that has a catchy pop song ("Permanating") that he acknowledges his hard-core fans do not like. The chorus to this song is reminiscent of ABBA, which is reportedly his favorite band. Shocking! True, it's a deviation from his usual moody stuff, but it's a great departure (according to me. But then again, I'm a hard-core Jellyfish fan). The fans were SO receptive and engaged! I was truly immersed in his music throughout the whole show. He incorporated film screens, intense lighting and a hologram screen that enabled Ninet Tayeb (the female vocals on some of his songs) to contribute to those recorded songs that she was on. After the first song, he asked the audience that we respectfully NOT record during the show. He said that it didn't bother him or the band, but the we could be sure that it would piss off the people behind us. All cell phone screens went black at that moment and never came back on again thought out the show. Loved it! This was a 3 hour gig. Well worth it. One of the best that I've been to. I've been to this venue twice before in the past 10 years (David Sylvian & Primus). It's a classy place and beautiful venue! This was such an amazing gig at one of my favorite artists of all time!

Steven Wilson is a superb artist who surrounds himself with some of the best musicians, fantastic sound, and an immersive concert experience. Aside from amazing musicianship, he keeps things engaging with some new animation and video. We especially liked the novel use of the double curtain projections and holograms. Don't miss this show if you get the chance! Note - Although he is trying to reach a broader audience, progressive rock fans will still find plenty here to love. Several Porcupine Tree tunes included and the band does them justice! Expect to be on your feet for 3 + hours - Steven said in future he would try to avoid having seated shows!

The last thing I want to do is give an epic review for Steven's show. That's because I want him all to myself. That's what you do when you have an amazing artist that you want to see up close without the hassle of a big crowd in a big arena. But he is that good. He should be selling out big arenas on multiple nights as his artistry has appeal for all. Mainstream radio/TV/media for some reason skips over him. Simply put; he played for 3 hours & covered a wealth of material going well back into his PT catalog. The band was super tight & everyone sounded fantastic. If you get the chance, you must see him. Even if it means that the smaller venues go away. But I don't see the "mainstream" giving him that "break" anytime soon. I am at the point where I think he needs that break to happen as the music scene pretty much sucks for the most part right now.

Because of dealing with cancer and attendant Chemo, arrived just before concert. Since I had purchased VIP tickets, was unable to park in underground garage. But was treated well after parking in alternate lot, which was nearby. Staff was helpful and friendly, and after some musical chairs,my brother and I were upgraded to much better seats (which feeling weak, was much appreciated). The concert was spectacular!,as one would expect from Mr. Wilson and company. Nearly 3 hours long! Only small complaint, was told VIP lounge would be functional after concert. Perhaps the greatest show you'll ever see. No one mixes up the music and the moods quite like Steven Wilson. At times crunchy, hard rock and at times cute pop, from melancholy to joyful, loud to soft, all played with perfect musicianship and complete sincerity. "There are only two kinds of music," says Steven, "music you like and music you don't like." So leave your music snobbery at home and go enjoy the most entertaining and moving three hours of music you will ever hear. And if you hear something you don't like, rest assured it's someone else's favorite. To me, it was all fabulous.

My first Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree concert, and one to remember for a long time. Multimedia and sound were amazing. Was looking forward to Pariah and it was standout. Musicians are all on top of their game and the choice of songs was excellent, drawing from current album "To The Bone" and old Porcupine Tree favorites. This concert was the first time, in my many years of attending concerts, that I went straight to the front. As it was a General Admission show, I headed straight to center stage and the rail. Not knowing who this performer is, I went in with zero expectations. Throughout his performance I learned that Steven Wilson is from England and plays progressive rock music. And that he thinks Coldplay are wankers.* My friend that accompanied me told me that Steven Wilson performed the entirety of a new album and played a few singles from his early works, including some Porcupine Tree. Aside from the drunk in the crowd that claimed his girlfriend is the producer and threatened to throw a kid off the balcony for telling him to shut up during the music performance, it was pretty great! * = Steven mentioned during one of his earlier concerts that some one in the crowd held up a sign saying "Coldplay are Wankers" and he grabbed it from the audience member to show to the rest of the audience. Someone took a picture and was taken out-of-context since then.

Honestly, the entire event was amazing. Loved the music, the band members, the audience, the lighting, everything! However, that doesn't mean I'm without some complaints. For starters, the place was packed. Other than that, I tried taking a call outside and was told I wouldn't be allowed back inside if I stepped out to be rid of the music. Also, no filming. Whilst strongly understandable, I was saddened (I deleted 54 GB of music just to record this gig!!).

concert was good but this venue is awful for sold out shows. Your basically pressed up to one another like a sardine. It's so uncomfortable. This club is okay for a unknown band to see but uncomfortable for any band that can draw in the people. This venue needs to change the stage setup and get rid of areas that are a waste of space. Aside that I'm a huge fan of the artist and that their performance was on point. The sound and visuals were amazing. Never heard State Theater sound so good. Always hear mix reviews from people about the sound at this venue. But on this particular night it the sound was fantastic. If anything maybe the overall volume was a tad too loud. Honorable mention to the opener (John Wesley) who didn't play with his band (due to limited space on stage). Whether it is with Porcupine Tree or doing his solo work, Steven Wilson shows he has an outstanding musical mind. He opened his show with the entire Hand Cannot Erase album, which showcased the outstanding talents of all his band members. After a short break, they continued with a second set made up of Porcupine Tree material and more of his solo work. He closed out the show with a three song encore, which included a tribute to Prince. All in all, you could not ask for a better performance. If he comes back again, count me in.

And that's saying a lot! Not in love with this venue, although the surround area is very cool. But wow did Steven and company put on a SHOW. John Wesley's opening act was also excellent, and if I have one regret on the night, it's that John didn't join Steven for a song or two later. But Steven's performance was somehow even better than the prior two legs of this tour. I don't know how he does it. They must have performed this show over a hundred times by now. A couple years ago, while listening to Pink Floyd/Rush stuff on Pandora, this group Porcupine Tree was introduced to me, and after hearing more and more of them, they quickly became my favorite group. If you like the first two above, just listen to Anesthetize, Arriving Somewhere But Not Here, Dark Matter, Time Flies, and more from Porcupine Tree, and you might find something new you also like. Technically brilliant, often dark, big changes in rhythm and chord, hard to get tired of. Made me wonder why I had never heard of them in 30 years of listening to music. Still wondering... Anyway, Saturday I got tickets to Steven Wilson, the leader of the old Porcupine Tree group, and it was one of the best concerts I've been to. If you're afraid of attending live concerts because the band just doesn't sound like their recording, fear not with Steven Wilson and his band. They are as good live as any recording you'll hear, ZERO mistakes, one of the best drummers ever, best keyboarder ever, both guitars the same, etc. etc., absolutely brilliant. If you like prog rock, give them a try, could add some excitement to your music library!

I may be a bit biased here, since I'm a huge Steve Wilson fan. However, this concert was really special as it had a bit of everything: complexity, roughness, joy, sadness, simplicity, class, poetry, visuals, art, musicianship and mastery. All in all, a masterpiece including a tribute to David Bowie and Prince, a bit about the joys of "miserable" music and a indictment of the general state of music today. It is also one of the few places where you can meet Pink Floyd, King Crimson and Yes fans mingling with metal heads and jazz aficionados. Old and young, hippies and classies, the hot and the ugly. Quite an eclectic and interesting mix if you asked me. Leaving in the suburbs, I didn't even know these people existed in Atlanta.

I have seen Steven's band and his Porcupine Tree incarnation many times, but the show at Center Stage on Thursday was by far the best I've attended! An amazingly tight band (Nick, Adam, Craig, Kilminster) backing The Man, coupled with the best sound system/mix that I have experienced at one of his show's, produced a show that was off the charts awesome! See him wherever and whenever you have the chance!!

I was so impressed with the Majestic Theater venue. It gave us a intimate feeling of being connected with Steven Wilson personally. The seats were comfortable and the video screen was massive. I felt lost in the visuals and surrounded by the music, made the experience ethereal. I was in tears by the emotion that Steven plays with his guitar and keyboards. He spoke to us as friends gathering in his personal living room. I would say this was the best concert I've been to and will attend Majestic Theater from now on. The closeness to his band members was exciting to see and feel.

With an extensive catalog of music to select from, Mr Wilson did not dissappoint. He played the entirety of his most recent album "Hand.Cannot. Erase." for the first half of the show. From the rocking bass lines to the keyboards to the guitar fireworks all connected by the blistering drumming and the video behind the band - that in itself would have been the whole show for many performers. For Mr Wilson, it was only the first half. After an intermission, they came back for some older cuts and quite a few cuts from "4 1/2", with nods to Bowie and Prince mixed in. His banter between songs was enjoyable and informative, especially what he thought about Bowie and Prince. Follow that all with an encore ending with "The Raven That Refused To Sing" and the show was over at 11:30pm. REALLY glad that I decided to go to the show. All I could say when it was over was "WOW".

Great show & longest show I have ever been to. 3 1/2 hours including 2 sets with 3 encore songs. Great music infused with his interaction with the crowd on the topic of music creativity vs today's lackluster bands that rerun the same records over & over. He talked about the greatest musicians of all time among other topics. The Majestic theater was a beautiful & had great accoustics.

This was the first time I had seen Steven Wilson with his solo band, not much different from the previous three times I had seen him with Porcupine Tree. The only main difference he seemed more laid back and more in touch with the audience but musically the same masterful Wilson. This time with highly skilled musicians like Nick Beggs (Steve Hackett) on bass and Chapman stick, Dave Kilminster (Roger Waters) on lead guitar, Craig Blundell on drums and Adam Holzman on keys. Part I is the whole Hand.Cannot.Erase. very impressive, visuals are so well matched with music is astounding! Part II is material from his previous solo albums and did he render a blazing performance. I would go see him multiple more times but he does not do extensive tours so don't miss him when he does show up! The Masonic in SF is a beautiful venue and served as a wonderful backdrop for an amazing Prog night.

Great show. No opening act, but Steve still managed to play for almost 3 hours. First half of show was the entire "new" album. Second half was sprinkled with older SW songs along with about 4 old PT tracks that were really surprising since SW rarely plays any old PT tracks.

This is the second Steven Wilson show I had been to, and it was a night of unforgettable moments. The venue was small, but beautiful nonetheless. I was fortunate enough to stand in the first 2-3 rows and see the magic happen right before my eyes. Wilson was overwhelmingly amazing, as always. That evening was one I'll always cherish!

He played two sets--intermission in between--and then an encore. The entire show was in quadrophonic sound (akin to surround sound), so you would hear nuances coming from behind you, it was quite spectacular and magical. I will never miss a Steven Wilson show when he is in town. Ever.

Steven is doing music like no one else. He puts an astounding amount of detail into his video interpretation playing on screen. Add to that, surround sound in every corner of the theater giving you the sound of falling rain and children playing. Add to that, outstanding musicianship. I've never missed a show. I'm never disappointed. Neither will you. IF you're reading this, go see him. That is all. ;-)

I have attended concerts since 1973. Steven Wilson's concert was one of the finest. His musical talent is unsurpassed. He is perhaps the preeminent prog rock artist alive today. He reveals quite a bit about himself in short talks between songs. He expressed genuine gratitude to his band members. He performed his entire newest album release and a second set equivalent to another entire album with old material, new material, and a tribute to David Bowie. He concluded with two encore songs. His performance was accompanied by excellent lighting and video productions representative of the grim lyrics of his songs. I highly recommend seeing him when he returns.

Fine musicianship. For a time the keyboards stole the show. Who was that on the keyboards? Performance unlike I've ever seen. Also, I thought the mixing needed some improvement. Could not hear the bass player. At times, the sound was so loud, I couldn't tell who was playing what. Also, there was a percussion that shook the house and due to the volume was overwhelming at times. I determined it was coming from the drum set. Finally, I think the videos were depressing and I noticed that Steve Wilson was rather proud of that. These became a distraction while I was trying to watch the fine musicianship that was coming from the stage. For the melancholy videos I suggest some kind of mental therapy. Does not need to persist. On the opening song which featured Steve's guitar with the treble turned all the way up, way up! I was distracted by something about it.

STEVEN WILSON... Last night, 11-5-16, at The Belasco Theater, downtown L.A. This was a General Admission, standing only show. It was packed liked sardines, front to back and side to side. I will not go to a G.A. standing show again. With that said... This was probably one of the BEST shows I have been to, performance and sound wise. Over 3 hours, with a 15 minute intermission. The opening act did not show up and that was a plus for the audience. Steven performed his latest album, Hand Cannot Erase, in it's entirety, plus many other songs including some Porcupine Tree (his previous group) numbers. The sound was absolutely fantastic. Quadraphonic, 5.1 audio (front to back effect) was used for this performance. The crowd was really into it, as the sound pounded (yet clear, not distorted) through our bodies and head. I have seen him a couple of times before and I must say that this performance was extremely tight and really special. So... Overall, I give this show an A+.

Leave it to Steven and the boys (Nanet too who was amazing) to deliver a powerful and emotional journey into the musical abyss. With the exception of the chick who screamed throughout the whole show it was utterly fantastic. Anyone who was there should remember her. OMG are you kidding me?

I've twice taken NOOBs to SW/PT shows and both times they left the show as not only new fans but super impressed with SW's musical genius & creativity! I think that's saying a lot as SW's music is not exactly mainstream or like he joked about as 'cheery'. He's assembled a really talented & amazing band! It would have been great to see Guthrie and Marco, but Dave Kilminster and Craig Blundell were excellent live! The HCE set was awesome, complete with video and lighting. I also really like the selection of songs in the second set (ones like Dark Matter, Sleep Together, and Index). Of course I would have liked to also hear some of my PT favorites like Trains, Arriving Somewhere, Time Flies, etc., etc. but I understand you can only play so many songs (and he has so many great ones to choose from)! As it was the show was well over 2 hours long! My wife cried her eyes out during Routine--Such emotional and moving songwriting and creative video!

Steven Wilson's 4.5 tour, I suppose it was, was great. The band was great. It was great to see that there were a lot of women at the show, which shows that his new poppier tracks do appeal to all. He still played some of his longer prog epics though, like Index. I am a fanboy so no negativity here, I loved the show. The venue, The Masonic, was sub-optimal, however, 1 star. The Warfield, where Steven usually plays, was booked. The Masonic is very nice and clean with large open spaces -it's kind of Institutional. A great place for the United Nations to meet, but the floor seats are not good for a concert, because the floor is not sloped - if a tall person sits in front of you, you can't see a damn thing.

Saw Steven Wilson at the Masonic in San Francisco on 11/4. Wow what an evening. With the absence of the lead in performer, Bruce Soord, we were treated to over 3 hours of just Steven and his incredible band. First half was the full Hand. Cannnot. Erase. album. Wow. His second half included multiple Porcupine tree classics including Dark Matter, Lazarus, Don't Hate Me, Sleep Together and for one of his 3 encores The Sound of Muzak. He talked a bit more than I remember in the past. As he noted his music comes from a sad place but he views this as a shared human experience and that he is not some depressed biter person in his private life. This band Dave Kilminster, Craig Blundell, Nick Beggs and Adam Holzman is one of the best I have ever seen. Steven even mentioned that this is the best band he has ever played with. As a die hard Porcupine Tree fan I must agree.

Those were the words spoken by Steven himself, early in the show. There was an announcement just before 8PM that hushed the crowd. For the first time in twenty years of performing live, Steven Wilson has lost his voice -almost to the point of not be able to speak! The gathered audience reacted with a theater-wide gasp. Oh no, tonight might suck. It didn't. Thankfully, we have Ninet Tayeb with us tonight, and she will sing my parts, Steven softly told the crowd. A surprisingly good David Kilminster also chipped in with lead vocals on a few tunes, but it was Ninet that stole the show. Already a fan favorite, after appearing on Steven's last two albums, she furthered her place in our hearts into the stratosphere. When she turned her own voice volume level up, it was stunning. Strong, powerful and loud, all fears of a bad show went out the door onto Broadway. Coupled with a set list of amazing songs, and an awesome band, plus Steven's trademark loud, clear (With surround) sound, plus outstanding video, lights and projection, a Steven Wilson show is not to be missed. Highly recommended. This was a very unique show indeed.

Not enough superlatives to tell how great this concert was . . . Steven was unable to sing, his throat was shot, and I was prepared for disappointment. I was absolutely astonished, however, at just how well he and his band made up for it. Their preconcert scramble, in itself, to concoct a set list allowing Steven a break must have been sphincter-pinching! Ninet Tayeb, Nick Begg on bass, and Dave Kilminster on guitar tackled the vocal chores admirably, and I was amazed at how NOT disappointed I was. Adam Holzman on keyboards and Craig Blundell on drums were truly impressive, each in their own right. Steven gamely contributed vocals on several songs, as well, which blew minds. True professionals they all are - this is a squeaky-tight band with impeccable timing, and their control of dynamics is unreal. I could go on and on about the incredible musicianship of each and every person on that stage, or the artistry and craft of each and every one of Steven's songs, but I couldn't begin to do them justice. You have to hear them for yourself. The concert was mesmerizing - I smiled, I laughed, I cried, I rocked, I sang along, and I was transported out of myself for nearly three hours. Can't top that.

Exceptional performance by professional musicians and Steven Wilson, a unique artist. Even though he had contracted a virus, which left him without voice, the show went on without any problem.
