Saw the 2017 Ballet Tucson Nutcracker 12/22 evening show and although I have been attending for years it still gave me chills to see the beauty and quality of this amazing company of dancers. Tucson is so lucky to have this annual holiday event ! Ballet Tucson s production of The Nutcracker is still the best around. I have seen many different companies do this ballet over the years but this rendition is magical! It beautifully combines professional dancers with the innocence and talent of children and gives the show a poignant feel that elevates it from other productions . My advice? Do not miss this - it will make your holiday season. Get tickets today!!!!

I have always had a wish to see "The Nutcracker" and this year my daughter, two of my sisters, and myself were able to see it. The date/time fit all of our schedules. I and my family loved it. The extras of having friends in the production, being able to participate in a raffle, and the availability of mementos just made it more special. Bravo Ballet Tucson!!!

The show was an amazing experience. Loved the way the show transitioned and kept the audience entertained. Would recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it

The Tucson ballet and their rendition of the Nutcracker was wonderful. Lot's of energy on opening night. The only thing missing possibly is a live orchestra but the production rose above that small missing piece. We loved the incorporation of so many children in the production. The principle dancers were spot on and the entire cast appeared to be well rehearsed and directed.

I took my daughter and a neighbor to see "The Nutcracker" and it was fantastic. Over the years I have seen many productions and in different states ; this one was among my favorite! I will plan on seeing it again next year.

Ballet Tucson presents the most professional performance of the Nutcracker in Tucson. I have seen many Nutcrackers and this one is by far the best. The professional ballerinas are amazing. The children that are involved in the show are of such a high caliber. Mary Beth Cabana and Chieko Imada know how to put on a stellar show. Kudos to these directors. Keep up the good work. Tucson is fortunate to have such a gem in our own backyard.

I have been attending Ballet Tucson's Nutcracker for many years and this year's show was just as fabulous as ever. The city's professional ballet troupe delivers magic with great dancing and terriffic sets and costumes. The children are impeccably rehearsed and add joy and delight to this polished production led by the professional dancers. The Old Pueblo can truly be proud of the calibre of Ballet Tucson's Nutcracker. It is a first class, classic Holiday treat and should be put at the top of the list as far as Nutcrackers go. I have seen many productions in my day but I cannot say enough about the quality of this amazing show. It would not be the Holidays without seeing it !

I have seen more Nutcrackers then most people and Ballet Tucson's Nutcracker is one of the best. The beautiful cast of children from their affiliated school Ballet Arts to the gorgeous cast of professional dancers all contribute to the wonderful, fun, whimsical presentation of this Nutcracker. It is a production that Tucson can be proud of and should be on the list of must see events for everyone's holiday season. What a delightful Nutcracker performance our own professional ballet company Ballet Tucson, presents every year, every bit as wonderful as many New York City performances. It has become a tradition for our family to see a performance of Ballet Tucson's Nutcracker every year and it wouldn't seem like Christmas without our families' Nutcracker fix! Truly addicting!

What an unexpected gem in the heart of the desert! It was a magical and truly spectacular performance, professional in every way. The quality of all the dancers, not just the main characters was far beyond any previous experience with any other company I have seen in Arizona. Tucson has attracted some truly world class talent in this company, a real treat for the entire family.

I have seen many versions of the Nutcracker, and Ballet Tucson's is hands down the best version in town, and compares to ballets in larger cities (with larger production costs). Ballet Tucson is Tucson's only professional ballet, and it shows here, with better dancing, better sets, better costuming, and a certain je ne sais quoi. Highly recommended.

Tucson's one and only professional production of the Nutcracker. Ballet Tucson is a professional dance company celebrating their 30th anniversary in Tucson. As such, their Nutcracker is an intricate and meticulously planned performance that delivers a feast for the eyes. The costumes are magnificent. The performances will bring you to your feet. I'm always particularly impressed with the parts that incorporate small children. Every single dancer, from small to grown delivers a consistently flawless performance. Ballet Tucson's Nutcracker has become one of our family's cherished holiday traditions.

I go to Ballet Tucson's production of the Nutcracker every year, always a wonderful, warm and well produced performance of the Christmas season traditional! Don't miss it take the kids!

The Ballet Tucson performance of the Nutcracker is truly memorable. The dancers, the sets and the costumes are all first rate. Tucson is fortunate to have such a dynamic professional ballet company.

Ballet Tucson's Nutcracker has become a family tradition. This will be our 4th year! It's simply spectacular!

Ballet Tucson opened their season with a mixed bill including a one act production of "Esmerelda", an Agnes Demille piece called "Three Virgins and a Devil," and a brilliant and energetic rendition of "Raymonda Variations." These dancers are very skilled and engaging. I was moved by "Esmerelda" and very amused by the Demille ballet! "Raymonda" was a stellar example of classical ballet. The corps of ladies was resplendent in beautiful tutus, and the edge and attitude of this particular ballet was well executed. There were several children in "Esmerelda," but the other ballets featured only professionals. In response to some earlier reviews: yes, too many children can be a drag, but that's Nutcracker. If you want to see a ballet company, ANY ballet company show off its professionals, then broaden your horizons and see something OTHER than "The Nutcracker." Plus, if we support the company throughout the season, not only will we see the best they have to offer, but perhaps they'll be able to afford their live orchestra again, soon. We miss it!

If i would have know the entire (or almost entire) cast was filled with the children from Tucsons local middle schools i would NOT have bought the tickets! I was so so so disappointed . After all, its Christmas time I could have spent the money on other things.. I was expecting a show worth the ticket prices and was so very let down. I took my wife to see this show for her very first time and was EMBERASSED to have spoken so highly of the production. NEVER NEVER Will I go to another production of Ballet of Tucson.... UGH !

Without a live orchestra the Nutcracker is a complete waste of time.

It was a great family show!!!! Great dancing and ballet performance!

Ballet Tucson put the magic back into the wonders of a child at Christmas time. The dancing, costumes and back sets were beautiful. The dancers floated across the stage with ease especially in the snow scene - - it made you feel like snowflakes were truly falling from the winter sky. Best solo - Russian, cutest child - the mice, most graceful -sugar plum fairy. If you missed it this year - -- mark your calendar for 2012 - you wont want to miss it again!!!

Very expensive tickets for a show with no live orchestra... what a disappointment!

This was the best performance of the Nutcracker that I've seen in 30 years. We bought tickets to the show on the 24th so that we could see it again!

First, I was struck by the lack of a live orchestra. The music was being played over the speakers. When I buy a ticket to the ballet I expect live music, not a cd. I was very disappointed that more than half the cast were under the age of seven. Although children in sheep costumes are incredibly cute, I didn't pay for expensive tickets to watch adorable kids frolic across the stage out of sync with each other. Furthermore, few of the professional dancers were in sync, jumps and arm motions were not fluid. I would not recommend this ballet. I've seen the Nutcracker performed much better by other dance companies.

The Ballet was beautiful and full of so much talent from the smallest and cutest child to the Prima ballerina.

The sets and costumes of this event were beautiful. The main adult dancers were excellent, and the main dances--The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Russian Dance, and Dance of the Reed Flutes--were excellently danced. However, the choreography was lacking throughout, and there were too many appearances of children (at least 40 of them, many between the ages of 5 and 7) throughout the production, particularly during dances that should have been danced by adults--for example, The Dance of the Flowers. Basically, if you can't get out of town, come to this event and you will enjoy it. However, if you have the option, I would attend the Ballet Arizona in Phoenix.

This performance was basically a ballet recital for the Ballet Arts school and not a production by a professional dance company. The featured principal dancers were very good but there were too many child performers that did not add to the quality of the production. Certainly not worth what I paid.

My favorite event of the holiday season. Ballet Tucson never disappoints with their performance of the Nutcracker. Amazingly beautiful and done with extraordinary dancers.

The ballet was good but very over priced. On top of that they started the show begging for donations. I paid $145 for a senior and 2 children. I'm a grandma on a fixed income. There were many center seats empty, apparently because they couldn't sell them at the exorbitant price they were asking. It was good but it wasn't worth the price and I don't like getting hit up for a donation before the curtain even goes up. Also the finale was way too long.

Just returned from the Dec. 24th show . The Nutcracker was everything I remembered and more! Some new company dancers have added fresh sparkle to the show. This is the best Holiday event in Tucson and of such amazingly high quality. If you have not seen this Nutcracker make sure you attend Ballet Tucson's the next time and it will make your Christmas too!

I made my annual pilgrimage to see Ballet Tucson's Nutcracker at Centennial Hall taking first-time ballet goers as guests. The ballet looked fresh and sparkling as ever. Some new sets and costumes spiffed up this traditional and elegant production. New company members Isaiah Sumler, Mauricio Vergara and Megan Steffens added new electricity to the performance. My guests became instant converts and remarked that this Nutcracker is a holiday treasure for Tucson! If you have the chance to see this Nutcracker or any Ballet Tucson show, don't miss them. This company is talented, fresh and first class.

This was my first ballet performance and it exceeded my expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed the event and the talent of the performers. I would definitely recommend this and will be back next year.

This was the most amazing show ever! Myself and my mom were both blown away! I would highly recommend this beautiful ballet to everyone. I will definitely be going next year!

I had the great pleasure of seeing "Sleeping Beauty " at Centennial Hall this weekend . This company deserves recognition as a first-class ballet company. The sets, costumes and especially the dancing were sparkling and fresh . What a joyous rendition of this clasic fairy tale. It was electric to be in the audience and experience the energy and passion of this professional ballet company and to feel the response to it. I recommend that if you have a chance to see this group that it will be food for the soul!

On par with any other city's ballet company, Ballet Tucson's Nutcracker was splendid. From the colorful costumes, whimsical sets, and syncronized routines, an all-around wonderful performance.

The Nutcracker is a great event, especially for kids. I really enjoyed the dancing and the costumes were beautiful. Definitely worth the visit!

We go every year. One year we went to the Russian Nutcracker instead and Tucson beat's them all the way. This year was wonderful as always. Perfection, adoring, inspirational without effort seemingly. Loved it. Thank you Tucson Ballet.

Everything from the entrance to the exit was amazing. The service, seating, gifts, and ultimately the performance was a after Christmas family affair! Unforgettable experience.

The show was lovely. Wished we had live music, though. The best thing was we were upgraded to wonderful seats due to my 6 year old granddaughter's broken leg and resulting wheelchair. We were 10 rows from the stage and enjoyed seeing everything so close.

From beginning to end, we were captivated by the great performance. Very professional.

The cast of the Tucson Ballet's "Nutcracker" is enthusiastic and well practiced. The quality of the production creates a quaint feeling to the holiday experience, as one would hope. I was disappointed to have tickets in the front row, only to have the orchestra pit covered with an additional platform that blocked the view of half of the dancers' bodies! I paid a big city price only to be given canned music through loud speakers and an obstructed view. The ballet company itself is awkward and amateurish, but I don't think world class is needed to thoroughly enjoy The Nutcracker. Next time, I'll pay less and sit in the back.

The Ballet was so well done! My granny and I had wanted to see a Nutcracker performance together and we were not disappointed! The dancers were amazing and the performers did a wonderful job at portraying the story with their movements and no dialogue. The music was beautiful, but it was recorded rather than having a live symphony. Though it would have been neat to add that, the show was still thoroughly enjoyable. The venue also had a food vendor, and hot cocoa and coffee stand which I was very grateful for :) I would definitely recommend this show for a fun holiday outing with a friend or family member.

This was my first ballet, and I was blown away with the beauty, talent, and costumes. From the emerging young performers to the very accomplished, I was very impressed and on the edge of my seat :) The start of a holiday family tradition, for sure!

This event exceeded my expectations. The only thing that surprised me was that there was no live orchestra to play the music.

The Nutcracker is always a magical experience. Everything is beautiful and whimsical. It is entertaining for the whole family, any age, any language spoken. This year, I was disappointed by the Mad Russian, which is usually my favorite part. Other than that it was great.

My daughter loved the stages and performances we well rehearsed. I loved that they incorporated kids into the show. Only 4 stars cause some of the men's costumes were too tight and revealing for kids.

Wonderful performance of the Christmas classic, amazingly talented Tucson based Ballet!

I have been involved in Nutcracker productions for most of my life. Ballet Tucsons Nutcracker has the charm and freshness that I always enjoy in the production. On the downside the music was recorded and the quality of the recording was poor, the quality and design of the costumes inconsistent, the choreography academic. The spirit of the performers was charming and they presented the story well.

I have seen this production for many years and I still have to say that it is an absolutely wonderful Holiday experience. The professional dancers of Ballet Tucson are highly skilled and the children involved perfectly capture the spirit of the season. It is a colorful and joyous production and every guest that I have taken becomes a loyal fan. I will be going again next year and will be highly recommending this to anyone who is thinking of seeing it. At this point, it would not be the Holidays without Ballet Tucson's Nutcracker as a part of the festivities. Take it from me, don't miss it next year!

My daughter has been in dance classes since she was 3 (she's now 6). We went to The Nutcracker for the 1st time and we both loved it! The dancers were amazing and the show was overall amazing!
