FHSAA Wrestling

Parking was better this year. Challenges: 1) Spectators AND WRESTLERS were NOT allowed to bring in their own food or drink. NO healthy choices - $3.00 for a bottle of water. How can you not let WRESTLERS bring in their own food - Shocking. Terrible. 2) NO cameras allowed in the arena (except phones). AND, our photographer was denied credentials - so there are not any pictures that capture the excitement of our wrestlers winning a title. Shameful. 3) Trainers (some large trainers) were permitted to stand the entire day. When mats were rolled, the empty space allowed coaches and wrestlers to stand in front of the mats. These situations blocked our view. No consideration for parents in the stands. Sad. Hope we go somewhere else next year!!

The venue was nice as well as the staff I encountered. I don t think the officiating was the best, but wrestling is very exciting to watch. Glad our team had the opportunity to participate. I did feel like the refs were biased concerning teams they were more familiar with but I guess all of that is considered judgement calls.

This venue is small and perfect for small events. There are cases where the Amway Center is too big, where this arena fills in the gaps.

They are overwhelmed at the entry points, frommaking people wait 30 minutes just to enter the parking lot and park, to running out of food in the middle of the lunch rush. We ve been multiple years and it has not improved. Also, this is a wrestling competition where the athletes have specific food and drinks they are accustomed to eating. Not letting them bring their own food and drinks in is ridiculous.

Lines were bad but better then last year. Security is out of control trying to get parents kids kicked out for any little thing. Very embarrassing!!

Very well organized from the ticket purchase to the event itself. No bad seat in the house. The event went flawlessly. Well organized.

Extremely poor officiating Best kids were not in the finals not because they lost because of themselves Officials have a systemic problem with match deciding bad calls. Confession s*cked. $9 for a hot dog. Price gouging You need to walk across the street to a store for food

Did not like the fact we could not leave the building the whole day. This was changed for later sessions.

The wrestling matches were great. But having to leave between sessions and then wait for a long time in long lines to get back in was horrible.

The event was good but certain things need to improve. 1. Day one needs to be one ticket and no emptying the stadium. Everyone on day one stays the full day, no kids exit the tournament until well into the second session. Cost can just be doubled but standing in the rain was not the way to treat parents and students. 2. Vendors of food need to be increased in numbers to take good care of the customers. 3. More room needed for the wrestlers to warm up when all 12 mats are out.

Long lines were unnecessary. All session passes were not available on line. Those who bought online were discriminated as all session passes were admitted first/

Field is narrowed, and the matches are even more exciting.

This is the event Florida wrestlers strive for all year. Great event to watch!

The State Wrestling Championship was Amazing!!! My cousin wrestled in the 145 weight class; which was what brought me to this event. I had never seen a wrestling match before, and I could have never imagined the excitement that I was missing; especially when a loved one is involved. I was in complete amazement of the incredible determination and focus from each talented athlete that gave it their all over the weekend! I was in equal amazement of what the human body is able to do, from being twisted, contorted, and bent like Gumby! I am very pleased to have had a chance to be part of this great event and to have had the opportunity to witness the astounding group of young men that are truly each wrestling champions! I thank everyone involved from the wrestlers, couches, parents, volunteers, curtious and helpful employees of the civic center, and the State of Florida for helping the youth fulfill their dreams! I am looking forward to next years event!
