Drury Lane's production of Cabaret was on a par with any downtown Chicago production. The set was amazing, the costumes were a colorful reflection of the times, and the performers were top-notch. The cast created a believable atmosphere that ran the gamut between humor and pathos. The contrast of the tragic times in the real world and the events within the Kit Kat Club were masterfully portrayed taking the audience on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Kander and Ebb's score is thoughtful as well as thought provoking.

The current company of 'Cabaret' is outstanding and the sets, music, and performances are not to be missed. My partner and I were absolutely enthralled by the characterizations and the music was excellently sung and played. The KitKat Club was a masterpiece in design and our attention never lagged. Drury Lane should win accolades for this production. I realize I sound over the top in my review, but we sincerely felt that our afternoon at Drury Lane al least equaled time spent at any national touring company presentation. The cast members were all memorable. The emcee was so versatile, seemingly innocent, but representing such evil. As we experience polarizing times today, this show gave us pause to consider what can happen when we accept less than the best from ourselves.

Such a terrific production. Acting! Staging! Music! All transparent and artful. Within minutes of the performance there was no distraction from characters. We cared about these people. The haunting evolution of the Nazi experience proceeded from the subtle to the obvious. Masterful. Having known this work in its various incarnations, this production was the most compelling and had stylistic and historical integrity. I cannot say enough good things. I cannot think of a "downside" to the experience.

The production of Cabaret was every bit as good as any musical theater production we have seen in downtown Chicago in recent years. The staging, costumes, and especially the talent did not disappoint. Yet the reasonable ticket prices and ease of parking make a night at Drury Lane hassle-free. Especially if you are a suburbanite, you can't miss by taking advantage of professional theater in Oak Brook.

Not enough words to describe the amazing performance of Zarah Mahler as Sally, a complete musical actress. The nuances of Patrick Andrews as the MCwere riveting. The entire production--cast, staging, choreograhy, musical arrangement, costumes, lighting--made for one of the best professional productions I have seen.

I have been to over 50 shows this year in the Chicago area and this was one of the most enjoyable. The set was interesting, the lighting fabulous, costumes great, and the actors wonderful with strong dancing and singing. I would hightly recommend it. The costumes and dancing were spectacular. The actors really impressed me with their ability to make the characters take on a life of their own. The part that most dissapointed me was that the plot was confusing. There was some confusion as to who was the master of ceremonies and Max because they were played by the same person.

Very enjoyable. The emcee was outstanding. The choreography was fun and the dancers were very good. I would have liked to see more of the dancing. All the actors and actresses were very good and were cast well except, maybe, the male lead (author). I felt he wasn't quite believable and i thought he might have been overacting; I must also include the landlady, she did a fantastic job.

The show was outstanding! The stage set was very realistic and the story was so interesting that you couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next. I've always loved musicals and this one did not disappoint. The singing and dancing was very entertaining. You could feel the actors emotions when they were acting and singing. It was a very affordable show in a great theater. There really aren't any bad seats. If you get the dinner/theater package it's a great value. The dinner however was average, but very convenient if you want to relax and not rush around. Everything is all there. Highly recommend "Cabaret," for a fun night out in the suburbs!

It was my third viewing of the play - once with Joel Grey, once with Allan Comings over a very long playgoing history. This production - which did not focus on the "name" lead host was the best. The ensemble was excellent, set design, sound design, choreography, costumes, casting of lead parts - all added up to a moving experience in the theatre. Thank you.

Singing--dancing--acting were superb! All the characters were terrific but especially Fraulein Schneider (Rebecca Finnegan) and Herr Schultz (David Lively). Some of their scenes were very touching . . Patrick Andrews was chillingly accurate in his role as Emcee. He portrayed himself as a combination of zest for life and personification of evil. It had just the right amount of irony combined with entertainment. It was startling to me, however, that so many of the comments I heard at intermission indicated that some people were unaware that Germany was really as it was portrayed in Cabaret in that era of chaos and turmoil and dichotomy between the realities of life and the decisions of the people involved to choose to ignore the consequences. ..

It was good but not the best production we ve seen. A broader representation of the human form would have been appreciated. Having seen several Broadway plays in New York City, I was very excited to see Cabaret at the Tennessee Theater. Our seats were very good in the second row balcony. The sound was very low and distorted. We couldn t understand a word the emcee said. He spoke in a over exaggerated accent that we couldn t understand and with the volume so low we had no clue what he was saying. We wasn t the only ones who couldn t hear, we heard people around us saying they couldn t hear either. The story of Cabaret is not good and the overall play is not good. It s very disappointing to pay almost $200 for tickets to a show where you can t even hear what anybody is saying and can t understand the accent of the main character. I will never see Cabaret again and I would not recommend it to anyone. I am hoping the sound problem was with Cabaret and not with the TN Theater. I would like to attend other shows at the theater.

I haven't seen the original version of this musical to compare, but something makes me think that the winner of so many awards could not be so vulgar. I expected to see some kind of theater event, possibly with some soft erotic for environment, but instead I become a witness of terrible porn and gay propaganda. Horrors of Nazism at least in this reincarnation of musical look like a minor tone to absolutely tasteless and uncovered other actions showing no any idea. I would never go to this event if I knew it in advance what it would be.

This play stretches the audiences level of comfort.(Unless you hang out in strip bars and get lap dances on a regular basis.) I've seen the movie, but the play truly highlights how the invasion of the Nazi regime affected the lives of the people in Germany and created an atmosphere of fear. I enjoyed it and it made me think about that situation in Germany long after I left.

I want to express that I had never seen Cabaret before. I was vaguely familiar with Liza Minelli having been the leading lady in the original film, but that is all. The music is of course great and the performers here did it a fantastic service. Leading Lady, Katie Boeck sung her heart out and wrenched out mine while watching. Also the young actress playing the landlord was stunning to watch. Both women are very talented. I was also impressed by the creativity of the lighting and overall fluidity of the show. One last shout out goes to the announcer. His voice is powerful when it needs to be and tender when it called for it. He is very enjoyable to watch. This show will entertain you for sure!

Just remember, UCLA students did everything, including attempting to play people far older than they, perhaps, the most challenging thing a young actor can do. The orchestra was good. Not great as might be expected. Style in music requires either time or genius. The acting was very good as was the singing and dancing. The risque content of the play was no doubt reigned in by the department in an attempt to remain collegiate, but there was one performer who deserves more than honorable mention.Katie Boeck is a star. Plain and simple. Watch for her. Either as an American Idol or future actress on or off Broadway. She shines. She is so smooth in her movement. She is playful and tart and of course tragic. See the musical, see Katie Boeck and see a future American icon.

I've seen Cabaret 7 different times before, and this was by far the most amazing cast i've seen. They were all just so 'on' the whole time, they sounded so great together, all of them had great voices and could all sing very well. I just loved literally every single character in the show from the main ones, to the ones that were on stage just a few times. They all brought their best to the stage and were all still very memorable. As I said before i've seen the show many times, but this cast made it totally new and exciting as if i've never even seen the show before. Very pleased with everything about it, even the little changes there are from show to show that i appreciate being surprised with. This show is HIGHLY recommended to see.

I've never been more disappointed in a show. When I saw that this was part of a traveling Broadway series I was expecting good acting, singing, and choreography. The Broadway League really needs to reconsider allowing "Windwood Theatricals" to soil their name. I saw this show in Champaign, IL at Assembly Hall. Admittedly, this is not the best of venues. It is normally a basketball stadium and it was converted into a theater. Knowing this full well I will not blame the production for having terrible acoustics and ushers that will allow customers to come and go during musical numbers. They also can't be blamed for the fact that the girl I was sitting next to decided to sing along with some of the numbers. What it felt like I was watching was a show put on by people who get to a no-name city and then decide, "This place doesn't matter, don't give it your all." They lacked energy and it started to put me to sleep. Though no announcement was made, I'm wondering if they simply put all of their under studies on stage and gave the real actors the night off. I've seen more interesting choreography in high school musicals. All the actors did was kick a little bit and put their hands in the air. This is supposed to be a show that takes place in a very erotic cabaret, not on a soccer field. The Emcee. Eugh. What is Cabaret without a good emcee? This guy did some very strange voices that admittedly might be funny if he were trying to entertain a class of preschoolers, but using the voice of the Cookie Monster as an impersonation of masculinity just isn't funny. Sally Bowles and Cliff. Meh. I was bored with them. I was much more interested in Fraulein Schneider and Herr Schultz. This was perhaps the one redeeming factor of the show, but in nearly all of their musical numbers they literally just stand still and sing. The set was pretty interesting to look at, it's just too bad that the director found it desirable to place actors behind on-stage doors during critical scenes. I'm sure some audience members were able to see these scenes just fine, but the director clearly forgot that not all of the audience is sitting right up front. I've only ever walked out on a show once. I decided to wait through the agonizing long intermission to see if the show could redeem itself. It did not and I regretted my decision. If you're longing to see Cabaret on stage, do yourself a favor and just rent the movie. Or check to see if any high schools are putting it on.

Without the signature tune, 'Mein Herr', Cabaret was still worth seeing on stage. With less emphasis on the character of Sally Bowles, and more focus on Fraülein Schmidt and Herr Schultz, it was still the unmistakable classic.

While everyone was great in this show, the actor playing the Emcee really stole the show. Good acting by all, excellent singing and music.

Cabaret was a disappointment after seeing Lord of the Dance, Nutcracker, etc. The person handling the spotlight needed some lessons, the acting and singing was okay but just lacked professionalism.

Going into Cabaret I was very excited. My small college put on a production of Cabaret 5 or so years ago which I thought was very good all things considered. When I heard Cabaret was coming to the Windermere theater I thought this is going to be amazing. I was disappointed to say the least; the singing, acting, and orchestra were all very so so. For a one time performance at the Toyota center I expected much more for the 50 dollar ticket I purchased. I do not think I will be going to another production at this venue.

The performance of Zac Mordechai was suberly outstanding. The singing, acting, costuming, directioning, set changing by the rest of the performers, and the back stage crew, were also of very high quality. The German pronuciation was good. The music, strobe lighting, boot marching, and the periodic display of the swastika were all effectively scary, providing an excellent balance to the rhythm of the story! I'd like to see Zac in other productions.

I found this production of Cabaret to be quite enjoyable. The emcee, played by Zac Mordechai, was excellent he included the audience in every aspect of the production and brought in alot of humor. Sally Bowles, played by Oakley Boycott, was a little over the top at times, I found it hard to believe a Brit would be that hyper. However, her version of the theme song "Cabaret" was excellent, she won me over in that moment. Overall this was worth the money and I would definately want to see it again. The Plaza Theatre is an amazing venue that anyone living in El Paso, or visiting the area needs to see. What a piece of history.

We left at intermission...not good at all. The emcee in particular was too weak to carry the show and Sally needs a good acting coach.

It was a fabulous night and the show was great. It seemed a little slow/off at times but overall the cast did a fantastic job and the emcee really made this show.

I had never seen a production of Cabaret before this one, and had high hopes that it would be entertaining. Well, my expectations were far exceeded! The performers, the props, the score, everything, I mean everything was so professional and fantastic. I only wish the show could have been longer.

Having been to the Peabody many times, but not since finishing the building projects near it and including it. So that was wonderful! I found the show to be wonderful, great singing talent. Ease of resetting stage during continued activity showed a great troupe. One glitch with the sound system, made audience uncomfortable for the actor. WOuld recommend this to anyone.

The Peabody Theater was so hot everyone was using the program as a fan. One of the main character's microphone kept going in and out. The "german" accents were so heavy and so bad, I couldn't understand half of the songs or dialogue. I along with a lot of other people left at intermission. The story was soooo slow, my neighbor fell asleep. The set was amatuer and simplistic, the dancing elementary, and the choreography was juvenile. I was so disappointed. It was no where near a Broadway show caliber in any respect but the price.

Nice show to see. Venue nearby. Enjoyed the music and costumes. But would not pay $65 per seat again when you have to sit in row S. Too far back from the stage. The sound system crackled a lot, not very nice to hear that.
