Cirque du Soleil Paramour

Paramour was an amazing show with a nice storyline.

Paramour combines the best of the Cirque brand (breath-holding acrobatics and breath-taking visuals) with an easily followed plot line and tinge of romance. Having been to many Cirques over the years, this one was great for young people and those who prefer a simpler story. Amazing, as always!!

This show is awesome and seeing it in the Lyric Theatre is fabulous! We had seats on the floor which I highly recommend. I felt like I was looking them straight in the eye.

The show was unforgettable, I loved every moment of it. The cast, the sounds, and the movement was exactly what I hoped for. I would definitely recommend to my friends to go watch.

It was a wonderful family show with some amazing acts.

If a Cirque show had a love child with a Broadway musical, and it inherited all recessive traits, this is what would come forward. An awkward mix of styles. The worst of both genres. For those who love Cirque, there was not enough. For those who love Broadway, it was trite and derivative. What a waste of big bucks and big talent.

Love, love, loved this show! The storyline was fun, it was just like an old film! The acrobats were simply amazing! I've been to other Cirque Du Soliel shows and this is one you don't want to miss! The theater was also very nice, if you are going to sit up in the balcony I'd recommend row A. We were in B, we could see everything they were not horrible but the people in row A their heads got in the way a few times.

If you go into Paramour expecting a Cirque "big tent" performance, you will be very disappointed. However, if you go in expecting a "Broadway musical" with elements of Cirque, you will be in for a very entertaining show. My wife and I were given this advice just before entering the theater and walked out thoroughly enjoying the performance.

This was another fantastic show put together by Cirque du Soleil; very clever and really enjoyable.

I am a big fan of Cirque du Soleil. The first part was nice and the second part was stunning.

Take the best of Broadway : music, singing, dancing, a romantic love story. Take the best of le cirque du soleil: juggling, climbing, flying acrobats, contortionnists. Add a beautiful decor, costumes, lights, pictures and images. Shake it all together and you'll be mesmerized by two hours of pure genius and art. I laughed, cried, jumped from my seat and clapped until my hands hurt. I fell in love with Paramour <3

Amazing and full of excitement So much going on could not see full venue

When I saw Paramour advertised, I was very excited because I love Broadway and I love Cirque! But in reality, there was too much going on on the stage. It took a little bit to get into the story. The actors were talented and the Cirque Du Soliel performers were great, but when they are put together, it was too visually stimulating for me. There were certain powerful scenes from the show, but they only contained acting or acrobats.

Cirque's show was thrilling...joyful...loved the effects!

We loved how the acrobatics we associated with Cirque du Soleil was integrated into a musical with a story line, great choreography, sets, and wonderful singing. A real unique event that could be enjoyed by all.

This is a long fairly boring musical with a couple of highlights- the high wire Cirque parts (2) were spectacular. The rest was music and dancing. Not the typical Cirque quality.

From the beginning to the end you are swept away into the world of Paramour. The singing was above average and the acrobats were amazing. It had everything - drama, comedy, romance - a definite win. If you enjoy Broadway + Circus, then this is a show you will not want to miss.

I can see why traditional theatre critics dislike this. Its true that the story arcs are mundane. The music isn't broadway-like. And the acrobatics are not as grand as a normal CdS show \u2014 and I'm speaking as a fan who has seen every traveling show and O. But if you accept that this is somewhat of a new format, where a team of French Canadian performers, acrobats, and musicians ask themselves: what would we look, sound, and act like if we weren't a French Canadian circus but an American Broadway company? Then you will hopefully understand the magic that's Paramour. I think understanding that transition is important for the appreciation, and maybe criticism, of the show. Criticism because while French clichés are always fun and sophisticated for an American audience, American clichés and mythologies don't carry the same weight. In fact, we have been exposed to so many cultural references that it's almost impossible for any of them to be fresh. There are moments that looked like the Great Gatsby (film), Chicago (Broadway), Dick Tracy (film) and every western movie ever made. So to me, its the adaptation of the format that made the show a creative and performance success, not the originality of the visual and mythological language vis-à-vis "scenes". Still, in its own right, the show is tight. The actor/acrobat integrations are beautifully done. And the artistic direction is undeniably Cirque. It's American, and Broadway. The show is well planned with the first half establishing the characters and the second half action-oriented. There are a few highlights for me. The triangle trio is for the ages; the Icelandic sounding "zombies" dream sequence is a welcoming departure; and the drone-controlled lampshades progressing from an YouTube experiment to a Broadway moment... That's history in the making. Oh and the pair of angels... God. The pair of angels... And I'm leaving out the superb actors and the beautiful, surprisingly multi-faceted, ending, which are all worthy of a second look. All in all my group of four enjoyed it thoroughly. I for one will go back to see this once more.

The least favorite of 5 cirque solei shows we have seen. It was more like a b'way show with a few acrobatics. Nice acoustics

It has the music and dancing and story line of Broadway, but the excitement of amazing feats of strength and agility!

We think that most Cirque performances are super, but Paramour tops them all. The sets, the story, the acting, the razmataz, the acrobatics are all terrific. I wish we lived in New York so we could see it again and again. The early reviews are WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Why should anyone insist on a standard, depressing, true-to-life Broadway drama every time they go to the theater when they have Paramour as an antidote?

Awesome broadway musical. Cirque du Soleil defies the laws of gravity to bring you an awesome acrobatic, cheerful and intense musical show, Each scene is a perfect and detailed tableau embellished by the talents and skills of every performer. Every move seems as easy as drinking water but you can imagine the hours, days, months and years of practice to reach that perfection. It's a beautiful moment, a beautiful broadway show like you'd expect them. If there was one show you should see in NY, it's this one!

This show was FANTASTIC!!!!!! The first 15-min were a bit slow but once the show got going the acrobatics were simply amazing and made up for the dull spots here and there. The story takes place in old hollywood which seems very dated for today's teens - but all 7 girls that I took (12-15 years old) absolutely LOVED the show and we would highly recommend. Go see it!!

We have been in NY five days and we have seen Paramour three times. After the first time, we looked for another show, but we could not imagine there was a better one like this. We are really Cirque du Soleil fans, but this show was completely different. The story came on the first place, and the music (what a beautiful voice has Indigo!), but the dancing and the acrobatic acts where amazing! I was afraid Paramour should be a remake of Iris, though you promised that should not be. And, you where true, it is really a new show, with deeper characters and many times funny and happy moment, sometimes it made me silent. And manu times it made me wowing! I love it, and I hope to have a chance to come back sometime! Something really different: It was fun to see the waiters with the bags, who could not find the people who ordered some snacks - which happened many times. Sometimes it looked like a clown-act, as the one after the other asked the woman behind us if she ordered this bag? No, she did not.. But who did it? :) O, I forgot to tell, since my daughter is using a wheelchair, she need a little help to reach her seat. But we never heard, like we sometime hear in the Netherland: "That's not possible, you have to sit here" and show you another seat. In your theatre they said: "No problem, we help you!" Thanks a lot!

Thoroughly enjoyed this show and recommend to anyone looking for something a bit different.

First of all, I love the Lyric Theater and it was wonderfully suited to this production. I recommend seats in the Dress Circle where people will drop down from the ceiling right in front of you. I was surprised and amazed at the quality of the singing. The three leads were incomparable. So much was going on I'm sure I missed a lot, but during one scene, while the singers were singing, we also saw people dancing, juggling, doing balancing acts and more. At one point a juggler juggled with one hand while holding a parasol with the other. The special effects were tremendous and added so much to the performance. The Tango Trio number gives me chills just thinking about it - three spotlighted singers plus two aerialists. I recommend the Route 11 potato chips at intermission; someone will bring them by or you can order ahead of time for in-seat delivery. At the beginning one of the performers fell into the orchestra pit - yes, there's live music - but bounced right back. The trampoline scene was beyond belief with jumping, diving, tucking/rolling, and split-second timing.

My kids bought me tickets for my birthday as I had always wanted to see Cirque du Soleil, I had a wonderful time, the theater was comfortable and the show was amazing. Best gift ever!

We could not have picked a better show to see for Valentine's day.

I have been to 4 cirque shows and so far this one was my favorite. I loved the mix of traditional braodway style with the acrobatics that you expect with cirque. Great story! There is. Itching dissappointing in this show. I hope it tours because I want to see it again!

I have always loved Cirque du Soleil shows, so far I have watched them in Australia and in New York. Everything is perfect but please, PLEASE for respect of the people who already got on time to the theatre DON´T BE LATE! It is so annoying to see the people trying to reach their seats even 20 minutes late.

We thoroughly enjoyed this creative hybrid of traditional Broadway and breathtaking acrobatics. A perfect 1st Broadway experience for my 11 year old son!

I love Cirque du Soleil! The combination of performance art and Broadway musical worked well together for an entertaining family evening. My only problem is that with the enormity of some of the acrobatics a balcony seat was not the best place to sit.

I went with my husband as part of my early birthday gift!! The show is spectacular!! Absolutely breathtaking!! We would see it again in a heartbeat!!

I LOVED PARAMOUR!!!!!!! Wish that April 16 wasn't the last show. I would've gone to see it again. Terrific show with a great mix of singing, dancing, acting and of course acrobatics!

This was the most unusual Cirque we've seen. It was a Broadway musical mixed with Cirque performances. What a treat! I'm so glad we made the trip to New York to see this special Cirque and I hope it tours. It's wonderful.

Cirque du Soleil's usual brilliance with a charming broadway musical storyline.

If you enjoy Cirque shows like Dralion and Varekai you will be disappointed in Paramour. There is little Cirque originality and much traditional Broadway musical in the show. The show is not bad for sure but it is not what we expected. The long ballads with no movement are an example of parts that should have been staged differently to be a Cirque production

It ends this weekend, so go see it NOW! Unlike other Cirque shows, this has a real story line and is a balance between a play with all the acrobatics you expect from Cirque. The acrobats are woven into the play, rather than being stand-alone acts, which creates seamless entertainment start to finish.

Stunningly brilliant and creative production at a great venue. We have seen at least 12 Cirque productions and PARAMOUR is, as billed, quite different. Yes, it is a Broadway-style musical and less acrobatics/circus. Yet the 'circus' acts remain impressive - aerialists soar above the first 10 rows of the orchestra - and are woven seamlessly and symbolically into the story line of a love triangle (no need for a spoiler alert) set in the Golden Age of Hollywood. The music is awesome (of course), though surprisingly the orchestra gets no recognition (so deserved!) at curtain call. PARAMOUR was the impetus for a weekend getaway to NYC - a 3.5 hour drive - and made for a most memorable trip. Absolutely recommend to any/everyone. Bravo, Cirque! By all means, catch PARAMOUR if you can before it closes at the magnificent Lyric Theatre on April 16, 2017. Two hints: 1) Seating close to the stage is not the best for viewing PARAMOUR, as the viewing of projected live video and film footage will be curtailed. 2) Discounted (50%) tickets were being offered the Sunday we attended (Ticketmaster's pricing was a BOGO deal); if sustained, this makes PARAMOUR among the very best last-minute Broadway entertainment treasures in The Big Apple right now.

I enjoy seeing the cirque de soleil. Its my favorite to watch. I recommend it to anyone looking for something entertaining. You dont want to take your eyes off of the stage.

Most cirque are full of acrobatics this was a musical. I had no idea going in. Still I was intertained and really enjoyed the flying twins!

We chose this production since we love musicals and have seen other Cirque Du Soleil productions, so the combination sounded too intriguing to pass up. We could not have been happier with our choice! Great music, singing, dancing, acrobatics, and acting. This show has it all!!

I paid what I paid for this thinking it was Cirque Du Solei and IT ISNT. It is a very cute broadway play with some acrobatic display... BY NO MEANS CISRQUE DU SOLEI I felt misled...

It was not clear to me what the effect of turning the circus into a musical show would be. Simply spectacular!

I brought the tickets for my daughters 13th bday. She had an awesome time she was in awe the whole time and to put the cherry on the cake everyone was so nice and helpful from the time we walk in. Will defiantly reccomeding this place to everyone I know.

While visiting my niece in NYC, I invited her to join me for the show. We were not disappointed. The show was great! The Lyric Theatre is a perfect setting for the show which is a tribute to old Hollywood mixed with the amazing Cirque du Soleil performers. The cast was super! I enjoyed the music, the different stage scenes, the acting and most of all the Cirque performers. I highly recommend seeing the show.

This was a surprise for my boyfriend's birthday. He was so excited. The weather was 47 degrees and sunny. There was no traffic. Parking was easy. We were first on line and our seats got upgraded to box seats. Amazing day and will cherish the memory forever. God Bless everyone and Happy New Year . . .

I don't frequent broadway much but I saw this show and the vibe I got from this story and the scenes was delightful. Many of the sets and sequences would make most movie makers smile. It was your typical story but presented very well and a cast that was as excited to be there as me! Highly recommend.

This was my 3rd Cirque show & Paramour did not disappoint!

My husband and I took our 9 and 11 year old daughters to Paramour in Times Square. We went with balcony seats, where we have never sat before. We loved the view, but loved the show even better. The show was more than just the typical amazing acrobatic acts of Cirque Du Soleil. It was acrobatics set within a wonderful musical with a plot that held all of our attentions. The acting, singing, dancing, acrobats, and perfect seating made for a very memorable Broadway show! We have already recommended it to our friends and family!

We didn't have the best seats by far and that complicated the view a little but for sure yet Paramour doesn't disappoint. It's perfection in execution is a Cirque du Soleil staple and its plot keeps you in the sequence of it's drama/romantic story. Unlike other cirque du Soleil shows, Because I've see quite a few, this one presents a Broadway gold era flare with a more precise storyline than most giving it a perfect touch for a NY Broadway theme.

I took my mom who was visiting from Ecuador . We had a great experience , the show was awesome . We loved the acrobats . The theater was beautiful .

It's what you can expect from Cirque du Soleil: nothing but the best. They perfectly integrated their acrobatic arts with the essence of broadway. My (first-time broadway) friends were all amazed and it will be hard for other musicals now to keep up!

Great show with great sets and performers. Very nice mix of audio visual effects and action. The story and theme was also great. Very enjoyable!

What a wonderful experience for all ages. We celebrated our 50th anniversary with our whole family. All 11 of us! With 5 grandchildren ranging in age from 13 to 19, they all have a great time! There was romance, dancing, singing and of course acrobatic performances. We totally enjoyed our experience! We would totally recommend this show to all!

Really great entertainment. Show moved very quickly. The female lead did a wonderful job of selling the part and acrobats were almost unbelievable.

The show was different from the rest. It has a 40/50's timeline and tells a store. Very well done and so worth seeing.

It was great but not what I expected it being a Cirque de Soleil show. I had seen O which was OUT OF THIS WORLD ....this was a musical with acrobatics.....very good. Sad to see it going.

I was disappointed in the show. While it was a nice show, I was expecting to see more "classic" Cirque du Soleil. This seemed more like a Broadway show with some acrobatics thrown in. I've been to other Cirque shows where you couldn't take your eyes off of the stage for fear of missing something. This wasn't like that. I think it would've been better with less singing and less of a storyline and more Cirque performers.
