These guys should receive an Entertainment of the Year award! They are over the top! Derek Sharp (a.k.a. D#) intertwines his humor with the band's performance... and this night it was desperately needed for a number of reasons, but the show went on and they made it work. Derek, Will, Rudy, Lewsh, and Garry (the only founding member) are five of the most talented guys in the business. They work the audience with their style, energy, and overall collaboration with their entire set of classic songs, beginning the night with the ever-loved "Bus Rider" from their 'Share The Land' LP. Other hits included in their set were "No Time," "American Woman," "Clap for the Wolfman," "No Sugar Tonight," "These Eyes," and "Undun," (D# asked me to come up to the stage to sing with him on the latter), among others. A few songs into the night, Derek took a seat at the keyboard and introduced their new song "Haunted," a touching ballad he wrote about his mom. After the show, I met all of them for the second time and was given the opportunity to speak with each one individually for their professionalism and brilliant performances. They are uber-talented and love their fans! They are undeniably "on their way to better things!"

How you can present that band as the Guess Who without Burton Cumming in the band is beyond me. Just having the original drummer and base player does not make it the Guess Who. It was one thing to not have Randy Bachman there but to have him and Burton Cummings not there is a farce.

This band should have been called a tribute band because there are only 2 original members. If you closed your eyes, it wasn't bad, but the lead singer with his long blonde hair and chest exposed just ruined the mood. We didn't feel it was a good show and we go to a lot of concerts. We would not recomment going to see them. It's too much money for the show you get.

The Guess Who brought almost 50 years of rock to Penn's Peak on Friday, September 11, 2009. There have been numerous changes since I saw them at the University of Scranton in the mid 70's. Most noteably, my waistline aside, the absence of Burton Cummings. Derek Sharp fills in adequately on lead vocals. His stage presence, however, seems out of sync with a band as "vintage" as The Guess Who. That said, I was impressed with his musicianship. I was also pleasantly suprised by a few stellar guitar jams with the band's newest member, Laurie MacKenzie. Leonard Shaw, a band member since 1991, capably fills a variety of rolls on keys, flute, horn, and vocals. Rounding out the lineup are original members Jim Kale (Bass) and Gary Peterson (Drums) who bring credibility to this version of The Guess Who. The band clearly knows what it's audience came to hear and delivers with enthusiasm. Guess Who staples such as These Eyes, Laughing, No Sugar , Clap For the Wolfman, American Woman, and a host of other hits rocked the venue. Probably the biggest disapointment of the night was our seats. Elevated slightly and to the side of the hall I found myself seated with a support beam directly between myself and center stage. In my opinion Penn's Peak owes it to it's patrons to include a warning of an "obstructed view" along with these seats. I was forced to stand in order to get a clear view of the action. Overall I thought it was a fun night of classic rock from these Canadian rockers. With concert ticket prices skyrocketing in recent years, this proved to be good "bang for your buck."

the guess who really thought about the order of the songs they played. they kept everyones attention and were as talented as ever. the new lead singer has a good voice, but at times he looked bored, which was a real bummer. penn's peak is awesome, i'm so glad it's 2 minutes from my house!

The concert itself was very good but it was a little disheartening when we showed up thinking we had reserved seats and it was general admission, first come first serve. My party had tickets with an actual row number and assigned seats but we were told when we arrived that we go sit any where in the "gold" section. This was the first event that we attended at the Chuckchansi Gold Resort so we were unaware of the seating arrangements. Still, if the seating was general admission for the price we paid, it would have been nice to know.

I've been a fan for forty years since I grew up with them in Canada. Who would know that I would finally get to see them in a podunk little town in California . Often times the old rock or country bands sound dated , "has-beens" who can't seem to give up the star life. Not so for these guys. By adding a couple of younger guys who sounds amazingly like the original players, they've updated and yet still retain their original attraction. Wonderful show!

Growing up listening to The Guess Who in the 70s, I wasn't sure what to expect from this group after almost 40 years. After all, there are only three original memers left in the band and securing a lead singer that would even come close to Randy Bachman is never an easy undertaking. All my doubts we laid to rest when the band performed their first number. Lead singer Derek Sharp's incredible voice rivals that of Bachman. The three veterans - Jim Kale (bass/vocals), Leonard Shaw (keys/flute/vocals), and Garry Peterson (drums/vocals) - didn't miss a lick in their performance. Lead guitarist Laurie MacKenzie provided some fresh sounds to the band's classic music. The event was a memorable one which I will keep for years to come.

The group was fantastic. We had no idea what we were in for. We had never attended this groups concert before. For some reason we thought it was going to be the Who , LOL, anyhow, they were very entertaining and kept you into the entrie show the whole time. They started out slow and we were worried that it was going to be a waste of our 74 bucks to see them "with our seats" and to our amazement we can't wait to see them next year. The lead singer was great.

I liked the fact that the concert was at a small venue. The volume/sound was not overpowering. There were two original band members, but the newcomers (vocalist and lead guitarist) were perfect accompaniment and made the whole show very energetic. In between songs, the band members would engage the audience with backdrop stories about the upcoming songs or cute stories about eash other. This concert was very entertaining and affordable. I got more for my $.

I love the Guess Who. I love their music and their songs. I saw them about a year or so ago at the Belterra Casino and thought it was a great concert. This time, not so much. They used a different lead singer than before and the song tracks seemed to have no pattern. I did not enjoy the long guitar solos that seemed to go on forever and I couldn't wait until it was over. The previous lead singer was much better. I still enjoyed it when they performed their old hits but didn't care much for the new stuff. While I will still be a big fan, I probably won't attend the next concert if they return. Sorry guys.

The band only had 2 original members but they were every bit as good as the full band. Great show. Vocals from lead singer very good. The original drummer in his sixties showed his experience and had the chops of a 20 year old. Belterra is THE place to see concerts. The seating is all good. It is tiered. Bar is convenient. No "festival" seating like other casino venues. We renewed are appreciation of The Guess Who".

I did some research online before buying tickets because with these older bands, you never know what you're going to get. It's true than two of the Guess Who's founders and leading song-writers, Bachman and Cumming, left the band years ago, but the two founders who are left have made sure that the bands sounds as vital as ever. I was just a kid when most of their songs were originally released, so I had forgotten how many great songs came from the Guess Who, but they can play a full 90 minutes of hits with another half hour of less popular but still enjoyable material. I would pay to see them again.

I had hoped for a good show. But, this was much better than expected. I am a concert junkie & musician. A couple of the original members and 1 or 2 new guys made me regret that I took so long to see The Guess Who. Outstanding. And, they stayed to sign autographs after the show. This show was a 7 on my scale of 1 to 10. And, a real treat. I highly recommend The Guess Who 2009!

The Guess Who have so many great songs that I was really looking forward to the show. But the fact is, their current lineup just isn't very musically talented. They're like a jam band that got together for Saturday night without ever actually rehearsing. The guitar players just hammer out power chords. Solos are long and uninteresting. The bass player pounds out the same one note eight to the bar. The lead singer is fine, but he can't carry them by himself. The bottom line is this, At least a third of the audience walked out before the show was over. The Guess Who is a really cheap ticket, but they still aren't worth the price.

So being a boomer Burton Cummings, Randy Bachman, and Gary Peterson and the gang were belting out great stuff when I was turning 18. I experienced high school graduation, the Vietnam draft, and falling in love with my beautiful wife while their music surrounded me. Still have their 8 tracks and vinyl. I saw them about 6 years ago in Metairie (New Orleans burbs) for Family Gras and told myself I would see them again if they came down south. They did not disappoint. Not only were the old songs great with all the notes like the old ones, but they have a new song coming out called Haunted that they played which was awesome. I look forward to purchasing it this summer when it comes out. The only bad news was that this mega casino could only afford one bartender per lobby location so you have to miss two songs to get a drink. But hey, an extra girl was seated in a chair counting the bartenders tips and another girl was emptying trash. Why get help making the drinks to help the patrons get back to their concert. Finally, If you wanted a souvenir, there was no security to direct the dual lines of people (early birds in place and late comers wanting to get in). When security did arrive he had to have a band member direct him to make an orderly pass through line in One direction rather than the two line gang approach that was allowed to occur. It was like they had never done this before and I saw Johnny Rivers there last year and they were able to get it right then. Guess there s no consistency in concert expectations from their staff or management. The buffet fried seafood on this Friday night was cooked in old grease for $33 per person. Got my money back. Biloxi Golden nugget sucks. Lake Charles Golden Nugget great. Go see The Guess Who for a great rock concert!!

All I can say is that the Guess Who puts on a great show. I have seen them 3 times in the last two years and always feel that the whole group is there for the audience. I hope they continue for many years keeping the sound and the musical era alive. Everyone seemed to enjoy the show and lots of fun with old folks feeling young again and dancing like we were still in the 70's...gotta love the feeling and No Time was the encore with all the great hits and some new songs. These guys are a The Guess Who covers band. They have been passed the torch from other members who have played as The Guess Who, since 2008. Like many an older band you don't get too many original members. They held. the torch throughout the night, very well. From the opening song, Bus Rider ,through all the hits, it was very energetic ride, indeed. The lead singer got the crowd to sign along throughout. Was an older crowd. Retired farmers and such. Didn't curb their excitement. Everyone seemed to get into the show. The venue itself reminds me of a movie house, with its stadium seating and cushy seats. Was a lot of fun.

If you want to go to hear The Guess Who music, then this is the event for you. If you want to see the original band and even some of its members, keep your money. There was not one single member of the original band in this "cover" band. the lead singer was good, but definitely not the right vibe or style as the original singer. He was very into musical theater. he kept making comments about how times have changed as if he was older, but in reality, he was just born when their first songs came out. I just believe that it should be advertised as a cover band or as an experience, rather than the actual Guess Who.

This was one of the most entertaining shows we've been to lately, and we attend many shows. The band performed all the songs you're looking for and sounded great in doing so. They know what you came for and were more than able to deliver it. Everybody was singing along through the whole show, young and old alike. Original Guess Who Bass player and original Drummer were more than adequately backed up by the Lead singer/2nd guitar player and the very skilled 1st guitar player as well as the Keyboard/Flutist/Sax player. Even the 2 "new" songs they performed (written by the Lead singer) were very entertaining. They stretched out some of the old hits a bit because they COULD yet kept the set list tight and moving. No self indulgence from these guys. As much as I like Bachman and Cummings, I must say there is no "let down" from the new guys, their guitar work, keyboards, flute and 5 part harmonies sounded just like you expected. Incredible! If you were to young to see them live in the 60's, here's your chance!

I think this is my 3rd review for these guys in less then three years. So, I obviously like the band. But to be honest: as concert dollars aren't unlimitted, if they're not playing within 5 minutes of home and on Friday nights, I'm probably not at this show. Not much more to add to the two earlier reviews. Good show. Granted, only the drummer (Gary Peterson) and bass player (Jim Kale) are left from the original members (no Bachman, no Cummings). And the bass player had some 'injury' and wasn't there tonight (last time I saw the band, the drum mer wasn't there, recovering from rotator cuff surgery). But the new members and fill ins are talented musicians and do justice to the original recordings. They played all the hits you'd want to hear. While I loved hearing American Woman, No Time, and No Sugar Tonight , my favorite part was when they played Shakin' All Over and the two guitarists (Derek Sharp and Laurie MacKenzie) just went nuts and jammed for a while!

This was one of the best concerts I've been to this summer. Even though only two original band members were present, Jim Kale (bass) and Garry Peterson (drums), the sound is still like it was back then. The new lead singer, Derek Sharp (who also plays guitar and keyboard), sounded so dead on it was unbelievable and Leonard Shaw (keyboard, flute, saxophone, and tambourine/shaker) was truly a Jack of all trades!!! They were so nice to the crowd that by the end of the show it felt like you've known them your whole life. The best part was that they stayed after the show and signed autographs!!! Almost nobody does that anymore...it was a first for me! Overall, amazing show and I will definitely see them any chance I get!!!

Great combo, Chuck Negron had a great performance. His voice is unbelievable. Too short however, by both bands. I guessing, the casino wanted us back in the gambling as fast as possible. I believe the guess who did only 10 songs, with no closing act. Jim Kale was into it more than I can remember, saw them 6 X last year.

The Guess Who had the sound and songs of yesteryear. They have had replacements in the group, but managed to keep the same sound, even to the vocalist. We got to hear all the great old music. They built us to a cresendo, cooled us down, and built to a final cresendo. Awesome show.

They were fantastic!! We saw them last year also, and we will go again next year! Great, great performance. They meet and greet the people after and sign autographs. They are so personable. They throw out pics all night to the audience! LOVE THEM!

I saw The Guess Who at Twin River Event Center on March 19th. This show was fantastic! The band was tight, very entertaining, and a class-act from start to finish. The guys were very friendly at the autograph-signing after the show. Each one took the time to talk, and not just sign and turn away. I will definitely see them again, and I recommend them to anyone.

The band was great and played all their old hits and a couple of new songs that they just recorded. We stood right in front of the stage in the pit area and caught 2 signed pics from one from Dexter and one from Laurie and also caught Dexter's sweat towel, which all the band members autographed for us after the concert. Penn's Peak is a great venue for seeing concerts. I prefer it to Wacchovia or any other venue in the Phila area. It is small and therefore provides a more personal concert experience. The band met with fans and signed autographs after the show. They were really friendly and gave a wonderful performance. I would definitely recommend seeing The Guess Who in concert.

Brought me back to a younger day. I couldn't believe I still knew the words to almost every song. What a great way to spend an evening out. Hats off to the band.

My wife and I loved their music, and they didn't let us down. A great evening out listening to the greatest music of all times. Played a new song off their new album that'll be coming out in September and it was awesome as well. I'm definitely going to make that purchase. We had a great time!!

Molly Hatchet opened the show. I can understand the lack of enthusiasm with the small turn out. But if this is all they got left, its time to park it boys. Foghat came out second, What can I say? The crowd was no bigger but they were pedal to the metal. Loved it !!! Guess Who sounded get when all their gear was working. Had amp issues that they must have changed out 4 times. Time to get some new roadies, short of that for music I grew up listening to it all sounded updated and rocking. Great show

The band looked like they were having fun playing. Their set was only an hour before their three song on core. They had trouble with a humming noise from their speakers. I had fun singing along with their hit songs.

The band put on a great performance playing some of their greatest hits. The lead singer was really entertaining not only while singing, but between songs with his commentary about the band, the songs and interaction with the audience. I would highly recommend the show to everyone.

I have been to many concerts and this one brought back so many memories of my younger and wilder life. The music was great, the stories were things I had never heard and I had such a great time. There was only one thing that could have made it any better. If the original singer had been there and singing. But absolutely a fantastic concert.

The Guess Who concert was a lot of fun. They played for about an hour and returned to the stage for an additional 30 minutes. They played all of their hits and sounded great! This concert brought back a lot of great memories from the 70's!

The Little River Band was great. Their harmonies and the quality of the musicians was exceptional, loved 'em. The Guess Who were OK, good musicians but the bass guitar muffled everything by being too loud. The lead singer was very talented but they didn't pull off their hits the way The Little River Band did. Really enjoyed the concert because of The Little River Band.

Not like Bachman and Cummings however, the Guess Who line-up consisted of Derek Sharp (vocals, guitars, since 2008), Will Evankovich (guitars, backing vocals, since 2014), Leonard Shaw (keyboards), Jim Kale (bass) and Garry Peterson (drums).

The Little River Band were good. They sang at least 6 songs I know so I enjoyed them. The Guess Who were a bit disappointing. They didn't sound the same on many songs and the singer-Derek did too much screaming on many songs which wrecked them. He must of thought he was Steven Tyler!!! I wouldn't go see them again. Others didn't remember the original group so they didn't know better.

No Burt Cummings or Randy Bachman. One original member maybe two were present.. Too much singing with the audience took place. Level seating on metal chairs. Not too comfortable.
