The venue and sound were perfect. Not a lot of room for dancing. The band was rather large for a duo. Perhaps someone forgot to tell Bobby and Phil duo means 2 not 3 or 6. I did not mind.

The Chicago Theater was THE place to see Bob and Phil! The acoustics were perfectly matched for the first acoustic set and the performance overall was AMAZING. Rare opportunity to see these two original Dead and it was worth the travel and expense. What an experience!

I caught The Dead during their spring tour about 5 times on the east coast. They were definitely excellent, but Bob Weir does an equal or better job at classic Grateful Dead tunes in the Rat Dog configuration and this showed through in last nights show. The setlist was killer and they were much more together than The Dead as they have played much more frequently than The Dead over the last 4 years. I liked that they had some involvement with Jackie during their set as well. Highland Bowl is an excellent venue that should be taken advantage of more during Rochester summers. One Ratdog or Phil & Friends show there per summer with a few others for Lilac Festival just doesn't cut it.

Having Jackie Greene on the bill was a definite plus. He is a talented, rising star. When he joined Ratdog for its set-closing medley of St. Stephen>The Eleven>Turn on Your Lovelight, the concert finished on a resounding peak. Ratdog skillfully interwove Dead classics and covers like the Music Never Stopped, big River and Senor with original material, and the encore of Ripple was especially satisfying. Mark Karan joined Jackie Greene's band for its final two songs, Don't Let Me Down and Mexican Woman, and the virtuosity of all three guitar players on stage was apparent. Over the years, Ratdog has evolved into a tight band known for consistently energetic performances, something that to this day escapes The Dead at times. The perfect weather, clear and crisp sound, and musical talent carried the evening for all performers.

As usual, the band played an exceptional night of music. In my opinion, there was a bit of a "dark" feeling to the show and with the Senor, Loser and New Speedway Boogie, I think the band felt the same aura. To start things off, Bobby led Ratdog into a hot Music Never Stopped to start the show that went into a funky Big River and then the three tunes mentioned above both slowed the joint down and then brought us back jumping to our feet with a pulsating, heavy Speedway. I happen to love Senor and Loser is still a favorite. New Speedway was HOT... Even So brought the energy level down a bit, but it was a beautiful version that made me sway and then bounced into October Queen to get my feet moving again. Bobby forgot the lyrics pretty bad during October Queen, but that just makes me smile and appreciate it all. The Sunday special of Samson & Delilah rocked my ass off before fading into Stuff... An amazing Black Peter came out of Stuff and led into the highlights of the night which started with a raucous St. Stephen and then rolled on into William Tell Bridge >The Eleven > Lovelight, which was just amazing from the first note to the last. The somewhat typical, but still beautiful and soothing Ripple was the encore. Jackie Greene, who opened for Ratdog joined the boys for St. Stephen through the end. It was fun to watch Bob, Mark and Jackie feed off each other... A couple of flubs on lyrics from Bobby, but that is to be expected...even embraced. The playing and energy had a definite ebb and flow all evening and I only wish it lasted longer. Two sets would be the only improvement I would have made on the night.

Jackie Green was the icing on the cake, several very hot 3-4 guitar jams, all very well done. Some interesting tunes, St Peter and the Eleven, but really just very hot and energetic.

I am a huge fan of Ratdog & the Grateful Dead. The music was outstanding as usual. My biggest issue, however, is that Ratdog only performed until 9:30 pm! Normally these shows go 4 hours. On the Ratdog website, it stated that they would be playing 2 sets. All we got was one 2 hour set. When the show ended, it was very abrupt. No one seemed to understand that the show was over, but it was clear to us once they started tearing down the stage. VERY disappointing.

Loved the show last night. Got there early and had a great spot to stand. No show is perfect but the imperfections are what make it unique. Bobby forgot a few lines and looked a bit tired. The band rocked the crowd with Sampson and they went through some Jerry Dead tunes that sounded excellent. Overall I had a great time and I was so close and I didn't have to pay 100's of dollars to be that close. Please come back!

No Parking Lot Shakedown Action! Place was nearly empty for opening act. Jackie Greene was good, can't complain, he was entertaining. Then the last song was w/ Special Guest Female Vocalist (Lizzie!?) and Bob Wier who played lead guitar and sang, none other than "Sugaree" together! We got a short break where I loaded up on munchies and drinks. Then the boys arrived on stage Bob Weir & Ratdog! Great Show! SetList Below.

A first time venue for me ,nice vibe unlike the Electric Nazi factory. Jackie got us all dancin and smiling early Bobby joining in on Sugaree. Jackies set short but sweet. Then they turned up and the fun begins! Ratdog was on! The open high ceiling room with excellent sound stage has no bad seats. Volume level was just right not to low- hate that! Crowd was pumped and the band fed on the high energy -adding fuel to the dance fire- I think the $25 live cd price after procuring the tixs is a rip off -how about (1) a fair profit and (2) a even lower price to the fan that buys the tixs. A nice mix of young and older heads enjoyed the laid back feel provided by kind Taj employees.

It was great having Ratdog play a concert close to home, I only wish more heads would have taken advantage of the location and venue. There were far too many empty seats, even at the height of the show. And playing in a boardwalk casino does make it hard to set up and run a successful Shakedown Street. Now I'll go to any show that any of the boys are playing at. Last nights show was highlighted by some rambling monster jams that seemed to take the place of the boys getting lost in a less than inspiring set list. At times it did rock, but the lack of focus and direction made for too many ups and downs.

Bob Weir and Phil Lesh came to town for the second of a 6 concert run on the East Coast as a Duo. Of course they are still full of tricks and after a great opening set as a duo, Trey Anastasio joined them to sit in for the entire second set. I hadn't seen them in many years so there was added nostalgia to the show. However, they played as if time had never been erased, pulling out classic Grateful Dead tunes which brought memory and joy to the crowd. What a very special night, which I hope will be released in some form by the Dead family in the upcoming future. If you were there you'll know what I mean and if you're lucky, catch any of the 4 remaining shows. All the very grateful best....

Bobby & Phil sounded better than ever during their first set of the second night of their two night run at Radio City. Fantastic versions of songs I have not heard live in a long time (e.g. West LA Fadeaway) and surprises erupting from jams (Cassidy->Touch of Grey->Cassidy)! Then the second set: curtain opens, and Trey is there with them. Epic set. Dream set list. (Including a Dark Star->Jack Straw->Eyes->Dark Star->Stephen!) Magic in the music. Everyone dancing and singing along. Still processing how glorious it was...

Great to see two legendary members of the Dead performing historic tunes in a beautiful venue. With no lead guitarist, it was neccesary to rework many arrangements, and there was an emphasis on slower acoustic renditions. The crowd was up and singing througout what was, overall, a great time.

Although some of Weir's new material was just out of his vocal range and should be reworked in a lower key, his voice was in the best shape in years, the standards were both rousing and well-executed, and the musicianship exhibited was first rate. One of the lead players is, at times, prone to pealing out individual high end notes which are a little over the top volume wise, but this aside, I like the new band a lot. It would have been a quite enjoyable evening had I not been twice harassed by a venue employee who seemed to be tasked with seeking out people for occasional use of their cell phones. The second time I was sitting in my seat with my hands nearly in my lap, so couldn't possibly be bothering anyone. Since the reopening of the Saenger, my friends and I have looked upon it as an asset of the community and have enthusiastically supported it. That night my wife and I spent nearly $80 at the venue concessions alone, and paid almost $300, to just be there. This included 42% surcharge over the face price of the tickets, including a facilities charge that locally, only this venue seems to collect, about twice the surcharge of nearby venues. In spite of these excesses, we would have been reserved to continue our support of the venue, but paying this kind of money to be harassed by over zealous employees carrying out an unnecessary and cynical crusade at management direction was just too much. Since this venue, unlike others in the area, is no longer providing a fan-friendly experience, I and my friends will no longer patronize it. PS What? I get harassed for making snippets of video and then it is requested below to provide URLs for them? You got to be kidding.

First set was all acoustic and was full of cowboy songs. Second set was electric and included a long jam, which floated right into Truckin. Indeed " Lately it occurs to me, What a long strange trip it's been". I saw Bob play this song many years ago in a small tavern, and wow what a long strange trip it HAS BEEN. I just received my alumni book with pictures of the late 60's and early 70's where they showed people marching for PEACE and LOVE, and this weekend I see people marching for tax returns, STRANGE still happenin. We still need PEACE and LOVE, and thus it is time to get back home, " Truckin' I'm a going home Whoa, whoa, baby, back where I belong Back home, sit down and patch my bones And get back truckin' on," Encore was an acoustic song followed by an electric and acoustic final song. Woohoo a great show, not to be missed. The Campfire Band was AWESOME !!!!

What can I really say? It wasn t supposed to be like that. It was supposed to be a combination of two really great voices/players/bandmates going through a bevy of classic tunes. Instead, second set curtain raises, the mellow buzz is setting in, the lights are haunting, the first notes of Playing in the Band are being strummed ... and there s the iconic Trey Anastasio, meshing with the gods. Bobby and Phil went from a cool idea to an unforgettable occurrence in the GD canon.

Weird night, Bob was on most of the time. The house sound system wasn't. Buzzing through the PA comes across clearly on the soundboard recording and was loudly audible for the finale and the encore. Must have given the soundboard folks fits. Some of the time they managed to bypass the buzz. It kept coming back and ruins an otherwise fine performance. Montclair, NJ clearly wasn't ready for an influx of 2800 concert goers. The 30 bucks to the scalpers for off street parking brought the mood way low down. Ratdog had its work cut out for them to restore and then elevate the general mood. Tough night, Bob; good work, great effort.

The Weir,Robinson,Greene Trio was a treat for ANY fan of Americana, songwriters and US-the DEADHEAD FAMILY.SMILE From the opening Truckin'>Loose Lucy segue, followed by Friend of the Devil was a sweet treat for many a follower of the Grateful Dead. A lot of the songs this night were from the Hunter-Garcia catalog and none of us were hating it. Matter of fact I LOVED IT! I could feel the loving spirit of Jerry Garcia in the songs that filled the air. Next, the trio went into solos x2 each. Greene and Robinson selections were very nice. Most memorable from these two were One Bad Love, a beautiful, heartfelt song. Bob brought tears when he sang Days Between, another Garcia selection! The 1st set closer was-another Garcia tune-Deal. too sweet. The second set was AWESOME with a Tom Thumb's Blues opener. Yet, the creme de la creme was the DARKSTAR, IN IT'S LYRICAL ENTIRETY!!! This Blew me AWAY and ACOUSTIC TO BOOT! The closer was-RIPPLE which was appropriate for Nashville being a songwriters' haven and all. I was impressed with the group as a whole and Bob Weir solo. I would go see this act or Weir as a solo performer anytime anywhere close and affordable. The Ryman Ushers could've been a little more forgiving as to the crowd wandering as we always do. Plus, we like to Dance, it is AMERICANA in it's truest form. Beautiful venue and awesome sound at the Ryman, though. Fans of Weir should catch one of these shows. You never know when the end is coming. Peace, TyeDyeGuy

It was a beautiful summer night in Rochester for an outdoor show. My wife and I reached Highland Park early and headed to the Highland Bowl to get settled in. We made our way down in front just off the right side of the stage, claimed our space and prepared for what was to come. Jackie Greene and his band took the stage at 5:30, I had never seen him before but quickly became a fan. Jackie, in my opinion, can best be described as a young Bob Dylan meets Santana. His lyrics and music are fantastic, his guitar playing is legendary and his talent is plentiful. He tore through about an hours worth of tunes which was highlighted by Mexican Girl and two great Beatles covers, Taxman and Don't Let Me Down. As they tore down the stage, we waited for anticipation for Bob Weir to hit the stage. They came out with the typical "jam" to get warmed up before kicking into the "Music Never Stopped", from that point on, the music never stopped and neither did the crowd. The band played through several Dead classics including Loser, New Speedway Boogie (my personal favorite) and Black Peter. Some great rarities were pulled out as well including Lovelight and a blazing St. Stephen complete with Jackie Greene tearing up the fret board. If you are a long time Dead fan, you will not be disappointed. If you are a Ratdog fan or new to the scene, settle in and enjoy. As an old timer, I thought the show was great and look forward to the next.

Other than a mediocre Touch of Grey encore and an exaggerated one hour+ intermission on Wednesday (3/7/18), Bob & Phil bought intense energy to two sets+encore lasting past the midnight hour on Wednesday. Personal highlight: whipped out a cover of Daniel Lanois' "The Maker," the first time I have heard this live. (The J.G.B. used to like to jam on this tune.) Guests Larry Campbell and wife Theresa Williams helped out in the second set; Larry really brings "it" on several stringed instruments Thursday night (3/8/18) was one the most memorable and tantalizing shows I've seen in my 39 years attending Dead-related shows. Girl From The North Country, a tasty Cosmic Charlie, Morning Dew, and an encore of It's All Over Now, Baby Blue were all the buzz (and rightfully so), but I was witnessed one of the best Cumberland Blues that I've ever heard. Campbell and Williams joined the boys again at the beginning of set two. TONS OF FUN!

First set was Bob and Phill cool stripped down jams, chemistry between the two was amazing. Second set welcomed Larry Cambell, Theresa Williams and Jeff Chimenti. Incredible. Larry played multiple instruments and. Incredible set. Bobs voice was strong and had nice interplay with Theresa. Encore was just Bob and Phill in a moving version of Brokedown Palace.

This was an unbelievably great event - Bobby and Phil were totally in sync, both voices were strong, and their playing was impeccable....Combined with great song selections and incredible backup from guest musicians. This was truly one for the ages :)

The shows were high energy and the set lists were phenomenal love coming to Chicago theater to see Bob we are in other artists is Fars Bob Weir and Phil Lesh goes, I really wish people would not talk or make obnoxious noises or scream the artist first name in the middle of a good jam And play a harmonica when you re not in the band. These tickets are quite pricey and I think it s lousy that we have to pay to get distractions from people who aren t really there to even watch the show.

Bobby Weir & Phil Lesh absolutely KILLED it! As we know already, Bobby like to slow things down and Phil likes to really push the jams. Put those 2 together to do their own thing and it is magic! They really stretched a lot of those songs to places they have never been before!! I wish there were more shows on this tour! I will see Bobby ANYWHERE!

I've been to hundreds of shows over the past 40 + years. This was a nice change of pace but I'm glad I only went to one of these shows. It entertained but the first set didn't have the energy that I was used to. Don't get me wrong, I like some folk and acoustic stuff splashed in there but this was a bit much for my taste. Others may differ. I love Phil but sadly his vocals are shot and it pains me. Thankfully, he only had a few songs. I enjoyed this but it left me even hungrier for this Summer's Dead and Company!

I wanted to wait until after Chicago for this review. Boston was the worst 2 shows of this run, not even close. Trey was Trey which means he always rocks and that made New York's 2nd night a dream. Chicago was at least 2 of the best 3 shows with LL Rain just one of many phenomenal performances. After the first set Saturday night I was anticipating fireworks and the boys (and girl) got down! Overall I was pleased to see these guys one more time after the horror that is Dead & Co. Memo to John Mayer - know when not to play. You know the music but you don't feel the music - big difference. I miss Warren and Jimmy every time I see Dead & Co. is touring. Diatribe over, Bobby is a tremendous performer and his leg kicks are the best!

Jeez, while there were a few high points, the show left me wondering about Bob's drug use, dementia, or disregard. It was weak.

Wow, what a difference a day makes. The venue and performance was outstanding, UJB to open, Bob's acoustic only first set featuring conviction , competence, and dream like moments throughout. The second set's Rosemary was absolutely sublime, The whole place went silent as we listened to the rarity delivered with reverence.

Caught the second night in Boston of Bobby and Phil's short tour. They played some rarities and some classics. Good to see them together again and always fun to go to the Wang.

Musically fine evening at the Music Hall- nice that the lads eschewed covers to concentrate on Garcia/Hunter material; Mountains of the Moon/Rosemary/Mountains was the highlight for me .Larry Campbell provided his usual tastefully understate work on mandolin, guitar & lute while Teresa ( his lovely and fascinating wife ) chimed in with high harmonies without having to be the center of attention. I do wish that 21st century Americans could A: put their goddamn cellphones away for a few hours and B: go out to the lobby if they feel the need to chat. Also, high priced low quality beer didn't help peoples level of concentration...

The guys were great! The venue was superb! The crowd was not so great....when did it become acceptable to talk through the entire performance? It was like being at a giant party and no-one was listening to or cared about the music. What a shame since this performance was a gift...how often do you get to see these guys play together without the craziness of a giant band, sound system, etc. in a tiny venue?

Outstanding Show by Bob Weir and the Campfire Band. Good mix of solo/acoustic/electric and new album/old dead tune favorites. I had not ever attended a show in the Ryman but the sound was fantastic.

With the help of a band of musicians that helped make his new album sound different than his previous work, Bobby put on a great show! All of the new music sounded even better live than on the album and the Grateful Dead song's also sounded different with this band. The drummer and bassist from the National were outstanding, as was Steve Kimock and the other guitarist. Sound mix was great and the pedal steel guitar was right there. The Bob Dylan covers were great with "Most of the Time," being a very nice surprise. I would have gone to a second night if he scheduled one! Come back soon, Bobby!

First act predominantly the new release, which I've grown to love as it is somewhat a departure from his prior releases. Second act a compilation of many Dead songs, all done masterfully. Was so happy to have made the trip to see Bobby ! What really blew me away was the magnificence of the King's Theatre. Really awesome venue !!!!!

Cowboy Bob killed it on the solo tour. King's Theater was such a beautiful venue and tribute to what Bob has shared with us for years. The small, intimate venue was fitting for the Campfire tour.

What an amazing show. I've seen The Dead many times, going back to the Fillmore East. I thought this show might be a little more laid back, but it was anything but laid back. The first set was just beautiful. Bob's voice was howling and haunting at the same time while singing these beautiful campfire songs. I listened to people near me during the first set and over and over I heard "Beautiful just Beautiful", and it was. When Bob and the boys went through interludes it sweep you away, and you never wanted it to end. The evening was perfect with the second set going into Grateful Dead classic's. The whole theatre was up and dancing and singing. To top it off the theatre was fit for kings and queens; Bob and his band deserved to play in such an eloquent theatre and I hope they play there again. Thank you Kings Theatre for making it a perfect environment to see such a fantastic show.

Bob started the night by himself playing a Dead, Ratdog and new tune from his album. How can you beat an acoustic versions of Hell in a bucket, Corrine and Blue Mountain. The venue -- wow -- the sound was incredible... I would go here all the time if I lived closer. It was an amazing show!!!!

First the Kings Theater is an amazing venue to see a show. They owners did an amazing restoration of the theater and spared no expense. Even the lobby is spectacular. Also what is nice is the balcony overhang does not encroach on the main level so if you sit in the balcony you get an amazing view of the expanse of the Theater. Bob and the band were great. The cowboy songs were all very cool and had some beautiful guitar work and instrumentation. The members of the National bring some really nice elements to the show and clearly enjoy working with Weir.
