The ushers brought myself and my son in a wheelchair straight to our seat. No hassel. Jewel and her family were amazing. My son and I will never forget the experience.

It was such a treat to see Jewel for the first time. I did not realize her brothers and dad would be performing too. It was a pleasant surprise. They were fun and witty. The show was a combination of so many things: meeting her family, enjoying her beautiful voice singing Christmas carols, listening to just her singing her own music and taking requests, some humor, getting a peek into her background and upbringing, how she got started in the music business, the story behind some of her songs... The set was beautiful and festive and I enjoyed seeing her family photos in the background. And her voice: just listening to her beautiful voice was worth it! Everything else was decadent icing on the cake!

Jewel provided an excellent performance last night at Humphries by the Bay. I have seen her perform several times but this was the best. She was very personable and provided insight to the background of many of the songs she sang. I was impressed with both her guitar and vocals. This was truly an enjoyable performance. The only negative was the 35 minute wait between the opening act ant Jewels performance.

Jewel demonstrated her trademark vocal wizardry as she entered the stage with to perform a soaring a capalla rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." From the start, Jewel displayed a self-assured confidence that can has to be earned over time. The components of this show, a girl and her guitar and her amazing talent were more than enough to satisfy both her most loyal fans and those only vaguely familiar with her career. Having attended several of her concerts over the past seven years, a common comment from newcomers to the experience, is their surprise at the depth of her talents and skills in a live, personal, intimate performance. Jewel's recordings never seem quite capable of capturing the range of her concert performances.

I am not a "fan" per se but I do have a few of her songs on my iPod. My girl loves her and has seen her a number of time, this was the first for me. I would recommend her as a date night and Humphreys has given a little leg room for the people in the venue.

Jewel looked and sounded amazing! I'm so glad I didn't miss this performance. Jewel began with a rendition of "Over the Rainbow" in a cappella. Her voice is incredible. The smaller venue gave it an intimate setting, and Jewel interacted with the audience. Jewel is very charming!

Jewel is one of the great musicians of our day. Her songs are written with superior attention to the agreement between words and notes. The end result is a self-contained language rather than some nice notes along with some nice words. As a performer she is even more spectacular. Perhaps it is her ability to communicate through music as most people can only communicate through English or Mandarin that allows her to constantly improvise sections of her songs onstage. Yesterday at the Warfield in San Francisco I believe she considered the crowd, and then communicated back to us. This exchange between crowd and performer is directly tied into the music she plays. She holds certain notes longer than a previous performance but understands the musical repercussions; she changes the notes, rhythm, or even words afterward accordingly. As after any good conversation, a keen observer leaves such a concert with a better sense of himself and his impact on others. As with perhaps very few performers in history - and certainly very few if any others today -, the medium through which this understanding is realized is music. I only wish she would fix her teeth.

SHE ROCKED IT!... GONNA FOLLOW HER ON TWITTER NOW: SHE SANG "Race Car Driver" , and many HITS and Unreleased/New songs. "Standing Still", "Foolish Games", "You were meant for me", and even her first hit "who will save your soul". AND OF COURSE A yodel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When she joked about her father saying "I sent my best sperm into that one" when someone asked him about his daughter while at a after party full of celebrity ears!

Sitting in the front row left side of the stage was an enjoyable experience last night. Ashley Monroe kicked off the all acoustic show with a very pleasant east Tennessee accent and displayed her song writing skills and a singing voice that is up and coming. She complimented Jewel very well and had genuine appreciation for being in San Francisco for the first time. Her duet, later in the evening with Jewel, brought out the best in her. Jewel displayed the wide range of her singing voice as well as some nice guitar picking. Her stories of how she came up with songs and sharing the tales of her younger years were captivating. Jewel engaged her audience and proved that she is a top flight entertainer. Introducing her fans to new songs that could become new standards as well as a song about a Race Car driver, that had never been released was showed that Jewel is ever evolving and will continue to be entertaining for years to come. Jewel was better in person than I had thought. Did I mention that Jewel is pretty easy on the eye? It was an entertaining evening and my date and I were pleasantly surprised by this beautiful Siren.

Jewel is the consummate entertainer at a very young age. Her wide vocal and dynamic range gives her numerous voices. She is very impressive in her low register...and she is sweetly Angelic in her upper range. Several times she demonstrated her control and power, sometimes beaming powerful passages...or holding extended notes. She also teases herself at having a "Kermit the Frog" sound in her first release. Having seen her several times in recent years, her performances are always fresh, given her open architecture consistently soliciting audience preferences. For me, she is a rare entertainer who solidly impressed me with all her new compositions.

The show was awesome from beginning to end, once Jewel took the stage. I have followed Jewel for years and this was my first time seeing her at a live show. It was all I knew it would be. Her stories were very entertaining and of course her singing was out of this world! She sings like an angel and a rock star and a pop star and country star. Hummmmmm, pretty much nothing she can't do. The Montalvo Art Center is beautiful. The weather was perfect. The only problem we had was trying to find the shuttle bus at the college. There was nothing marked and we ran into several people who were having the same problem. I would definitely go back to see another show there now that I know where to catch the shuttle.

Jewel s voice just keeps getting better each year. She sang Christmas favorites as well as her hits. What was especially great about this concert was that Jewel is willing to take chances. Her soulful version of Silent Night was reminiscent of a Mavis Staple song. But Jewel is not a copycat. Her vocals are her own. I hope Jewel records her most recent version of Silent Night for next year s holiday season. The family set was nice but Jewel was definitely the star of the show.

I love Jewel s first Christmas album. It should be up there with the classics, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, The Carpenters , etc. She looked and sounded amazing. I never seen her family s snow, and it seemed like more people were interested in seeing the Alaska family rather than Jewel. Her one brother, I believe his name is Atz Lee, was pretty talented, but it seemed forced to have her family there. But the of the evening was Jewel. Her Ava Maria and O Holy Night were stunning. She also sang some of her other hits. I would definitely would see her again.

Mystic Lake auditorium was perfect. Jewel, her father and brothers were nothing short of amazing on stage. However, I would never recommend buying their "VIP Meet and Greet" package. I bought one for my wife @ $300.00 and it was nothing more than 30 seconds with them to get her photo taken. How unbelievably disappointing for a $300.00 price tag. Yes, the package offered a $100.00 merchandise coupon, but she could have bought the same Jewel shirt and CDs for less somewhere else.

Jewe's holiday concert was as varied of a concert as I have ever been to. This Christmas concert began with an option of 2 hours of "make and take gifts". I designed a Christmas dishtowel. The concert opener was provided by Jewel's father and 2 brothers who are so good on strings and story-telling through word and music. Jewel sang some Christmas carols in a new and upbeat way...different than her CDs. She also sang some of her non-Christmas hits all done beautifully. The staging, lights, and videos, etc. were beautifully and tastefully done. This was such a great concert to help usher in the real meaning of Christmas.

I came into this show only knowing Jewel had a couple hits ( in the 90's?) and had a really really good voice....and that's all i knew going into the show. Since i picked up a guitar last December and have started singing for the first time i thought it would be great inspiration to see artist i may know nothing about but know they are good at what they do....so Jewel was the perfect, "go see a random concert you know pretty much nothing about" and that's why i went. You can tell she has performed millions of times on stage. Her guitar playing seemed automatic where she could just focus on her vocals and lyrics. I totally got what i came for.....She talked in length ( sometimes up to 10 minutes it seemed like ) about her upbringing and her travels into the business of music.....so now i know a LOT about Jewel personally....but i really was just there for the music . Not being a "fan" made me scratch my head a couple times during the pre recorded talking parts during her show with her just standing there on stage listening to herself..talk.....odd. The over all 2 hour (?) show was jam packed with her stuff. She is funny, confident, insecure and seems like a tough chick. She cut her nails on stage because she said she was having a problem playing guitar. I thought that was funny, actually. I saw the Russian Pacific Orchestra on that same stage only a couple month before....and now was watching Jewel chop off her fingernails on that same stage. Funny. Stage light design was simple , but perfect and beautiful for a female solo performer. Sound was good. PAC theater is the best place ( for me anyway) to see a live concert. Fast in and out....mellow crowds....Northridge....no kids. God i sound old! haha If you are coming to see her play that big hit song ( with a bullet) ....she plays it. FWI kiddies : there is much much more to your favorite artist and what they REALLY want to perform for you...than the big hit song that gave them that awesome music career.. Give the other staff a chance too. The highlight for me was her amazing vocal chops and ability. Restraint of using vibrato only where she wants it was super cool. She has like 4 different voices and all compliment what ever song she is performing. In my book she is one of those singers singers. Fun to watch and listen to. I'm glad i went. Learned some cool music stuff for my new playing hobby....love seeing artist i know nothing about....and the PAC rules. PS- Get there an hour or so early ( like any other concert ) just to chill out before the show.....being from California...i hate to rush to anything....let alone rushing to have a good time. Enjoy. :-)

I have been to at least 6 concerts that Jewel has put on. In each she has a refreshing style that is her own from jamming with Rob Thomas of Matchbox twenty to singing to the sounds of the Cleveland Pops Orchestra Jewel is always Jewel but always new at the same time. Avoiding the hype and performance of acting Jewel entertains from simply being herself with all the passions and emotions that we all have but often choose to keep stifled. You cannot do it while being so moved to where refreshment and entertainment meet. It is musical therapy that clearly Jewel was gifted to share with the world having a voice of an angel and soul that proves God exists and speaks to us even thru music.

I saw Jewel in the early 1990's when she was first starting out. She captivated me then and still does today. I am more of a hard rock/heavy metal fan, but Jewel is the exception. Her lyrics are inspirational, her stories are full of life, humor, sadness and every emotion imaginable. Jewel is one of those rare people that can make you feel every emotion she is feeling. In many ways it almost seems like we are reading her diary. Her voice has always been hypnotic and she can still mesmerize an audience after 25 years. Definitely worth seeing!!!

This concert ROCKED!! Jewel was gracious, funny and so personable. Someone came up in the middle of her show and asked her to sign their Poetry book of hers, and she did. She also read the poem the woman requested! All through the concert she would stop and tell us stories about her life; but not in a narcissistic way at all. She was just opening up to us. The music was awesome because she performed with just her acoustic guitar; no extra electronics and nothing pre-planned. She would take requests yelled out from the audience or just pick one of her own.. It was incredible. Definitely going again if she comes around here.

I'm coming off an elephant ear hangover so take that in account... Seriously Jewel is a rock solid performer. She puts out albums regularly so I see her with my daughter annually or more sometimes but at least every year. She delivers and plays the classics with a small amount of new stuff... She is truly an iconic and amazing songwriter in the prolific sense. I believe she will always be relevant and I think when she has kids she will produce even more of those meaningful and beautiful songs. The one thing that I notice is she tells the same stories almost verbatim between songs... This serves to introduce the audience that is new to her or the first timers, but gets a little old for the harder-core Jewelers... I realize she has to tell the stories to the lowest common denominator, but a couple new stories peppered in would be great and keep it fresh...

I've never had the chance to see Jewel in concert, I've loved her since I was 12. Amazing show! it was worth the 13 year wait! The Ushers sat us in the 26th row for the whole opening act, then from talking to the couple next to us, we realized we were in the wrong seats... a little angry I went to the Usher and said something, we were promptly moved to our 11th row, center seats, and all was well. So Jewel gets 5 stars and the Midland gets 4.5 :)

She was in rare form tonight - told all her usual stories plus some, sang beautifully and took a few request. She did 21 songs in all, some old favorites and a few off of her new album. Her background stage setting for this tour is beautiful, the colors and images really tell the stories of her songs.

From first note to last yodel, Jewel displayed superior range and vocal confidence, and an ability to bring in and hold an audience as few artists can. An unaccompanied acoustic set places all of the credit and blame on the artist's shoulders, and on this night there was litle blame and much credit afforded Jewel. The transitions from older standards to new songs were studded with anecdotes, some familiar, but all entertaining and informative of her life and thoughts and emotions during their creation. Jewel's selections from her latest album, Sweet and Wild, were well received and were notably excellent, including her stated album favorite, Satisfied. There is little doubt that she left her fans and new fans feeling exactly that!

One of the best concert I have attended in years. Jewel performance was amazing! She engaged the audience into her performance. Best acoustic performance too! Great job! Nice surprise to have her Dad perform a few songs by himself and with Jewel.

People were walking out. She scolded the crowd for talking while she was singing--told them to leave and go talk in the lobby. She forgot songs. Said she was "bored" on stage. Asked the crowd to google her own lyrics. Talked and talked and talked and talked. Ugh. But she is beautiful and her voice is amazing. And her dad was there too--nice surprise.

i was extremely disappointed that she only sung about 10 - maybe 12 at the most - songs. she did say she was feeling under the weather, but i've seen other shows that the performer roughed it out after telling the audience that (elton john still played for 2+ hours). seriously, 10 -12 songs in an hour and a half.

This was amazing. To be able to see your favorite female artist in person, talk, share with others, watch her be a mom, and get to see the real person, not just a cover of a cd, unforgettable. And very humbling. Having her sign my guitar was one of the best decisions I have ever made :). Now I look down and want to practice more, learn more, maybe even explore writing, it's an inspiration to keep going, she is an inspiration to keep going. I have even more love and respect for her after seeing and being VIP at this concert. I hope another one will be close enough for me to attend.

Such a fabulous acoustic show. Loved the story telling. I had no idea what her background was until I saw this show. I went right to itunes and bought her new book. Can't wait to read it. She has such an amazing voice. I am very glad we decided to go to this show.

Jewel is someone that has always been on my "bucket list" for concerts. She came out when I was a teenager and I LOVED, and still do, all her old songs. I really hadn't heard anything new from her in a lot of years and was honestly expecting it to be a little disappointing in living up to my memories. Boy was I wrong!! Jewel was absolutely phenomenal and I am so glad that I took the opportunity to see her. She is incredibly talented and both my husband and I Rate this concert in the top five we've ever seen!

Jewel is amazing and she does love to tell her stories. They are interesting but if you have heard them before then you know the "punch line" and what is going to be said! So it would be nice to have a few more of her songs then her repeat stories. I would of liked to have heard any new songs she may be working on. So sorry to hear about her divorce, but I am not in her shoes so who knows why and what really happened. I just feel sad for her little boy ,it is tough on kids not to have a mom and dad living at the same home together. Jewel is really a great folk singer and her voice is so beautiful. I loved the way she told the LOUD crowd in the back to be quiet while she performs, what a great call that was on her part, she actually sang to that rude crowd to be quiet! Good move Jewel. Anyway I would see her again and would enjoy her music all over again. The four stars are about how crowed the seats are there and about how Jewel allowed another man to ask another man to be his husband or would that be his wife? That was tacky and not necessary, I did not pay good money to hear that! I am not homophobic just came there to hear Jewel sing not to hear repeat stories and not to hear about a couple of guys getting hitched up.

Seriously the worst "concert" I have ever been to in my life. A whole lot of talking and the most diva attitude ever - we couldn't order popcorn cause she told the vendors the sound distracted from her performance. What performance??? all she did was talk. So overpriced - it was an acoustic set, so she doesn't even have to pay a band! Why did we pay $70??? I actually feel like she should have paid us for listening to her therapy session. A HUGE disappointment. I've never written a review in my life but was compelled to let others know to SKIP THIS SHOW!

As a mid-1990's CSUN graduate, I had never been to the Northridge performing Arts Building. When I saw a chance to change that with Jewel, I thought what a great opportunity. This was my 3rd time seeing her perform. I like her with a band supporting her and the music to be honest. I saw her perform on the "This Way" tour and LOVED it. Then I saw her perform solo the next tour after a band mate passed away suddenly (at least that was what I was told) and was unfortunately disappointed. So what says me about this time around: I enjoyed the sound - Very clean and enveloping. I think the sound system belongs to Northridge Performing Arts? If so, what a boon for artists to perform there without hauling equipment. She performed most of the hits we expect. She is very candid about her life and the journey she is on. I think this is rare in people and did enjoy the background stories. As a music concert though, I have to unfortunately lean towards the over all value doesn't quite deliver. As a fan, I am ok with it, but for other's who may have never seen her not sure how that lands. In conclusion, I admire and praise her for being herself and authentic. As such 3 stars is where this evening left me. The same music with a band would be 5 stars for me. Just my opinion.

Jewel was fabulous. Her voice remains unbelievably beautiful, however, the rudeness of the overserved crowd was very distracting from the music. Jewel, herself, attempted to quiet the loud conversation going on throughout the venue, but I was unimpressed by the efforts put forth from the Humphreys staff to assist with quieting down the select offenders.

I waited two years to see Jewel (she cancelled her 2015 date here) and was very disappointed in her performance. Don't get me wrong, her voice was smooth as silk and her range continues to be fantastic. But, her pre-recorded messages that include spelling out I am W-O-M-A-N and U-N-A-P-O-L-A-G-E-T-I-C including informing us of her use of "latisse" for her eye lashes and the "scar above her pubic bone" from her C-section was way too much information. She is not aging "gracefully" and is instead focused on turning 40, being divorced, and with her aging imperfections that the audience really doesn't care about. We came to hear her sing and see her perform, but it was sad to watch her unable to play her guitar due to "her fingers were not glued right", and forgetting song lyrics and starting songs over again. As other reviews had mentioned, there was way too much story telling and rambling and way too few complete songs. She was 40 minutes late starting the show and there was no excuse for that since it was a solo acoustic show-one stool and a microphone to set up. It was a shame to see many fans leaving early, but it was a yawner of a show with not much to cheer for.

Jewel is almost beyond description and we adore her and her music. Period! Her "Picking up the Pieces" performance exceeded even our high hopes and expectations. 20 years ago "Pieces of You" hit the radio just as my (now) wife and I were falling in love, and of course it became the soundtrack to our life. We were engaged and planned our wedding with Jewel's voice threading through our lives. "Near You Always" is inscribed around our wedding bands, and my wife was to walk down the aisle to that song (before my father-in-law secretly swapped in something else as a surprise to his daughter ... and yes, I'm still mad about it!) I don't need to describe to fans what an extraordinary album Pieces was on it's own — and obviously to us it is the most beloved music on the planet. So I was so excited on our 18th anniversary last week to surprised my wife with the "Picking Up The Pieces" show. Having never seen her live, we could only hope that Jewel and her music were as special in person. Well ... it was truly one of the most beautiful and moving performances we have ever experienced, and we were both moved to tears finally getting to hear "Near You Always" live. People always say "live is even better" and it could not be more true. Not only is Jewel's voice simply extraordinary, her range and style of vocalization has to be heard live to be fully appreciated. You've gotta be one helluva singer to command an auditorium with just a guitar and voice — no accompaniment, no backup singers, no light show, no video backdrop. 100% pure Jewel. Her acapella songs were breathtaking and when she dove into her most treasured tracks from Pieces — with just a guitar and her voice — well, she just absolutely killed it! At the end of just about every song my wife and I turned to each other with jaws hanging open. In addition to her amazing musical performance, Jewel took ample time to tell several mesmerizing stories from her life that ranged from touching, to hilarious to heart-wrenching. She bares her soul on the stage, laying out her struggles and personal victories, and it's clear that part of what makes her such an incredible artists is that her music + stories + life are inextricably interwoven. You don't have to be a veteran fan or have Jewel as your wedding soundtrack to appreciate this concert. Her voice and songwriting are truly extraordinary and should be enjoyed in person by anyone who loves incredible singing and musical storytelling. On the way home from the show my wife and I were beaming, rattling off a list of 'favorite' moments. I think she summed it up best with, "Jewel so seriously killed it ... she killed it, like, a thousand times!" Thank you, Jewel, for the gift of a lifetime of priceless music!

Jewel was one of my main musical influences as a kid, but I'd never had the chance to see her live. I was not prepared for what we were about to see.... This woman is a master singer, with incredible control over her unique, emotional voice! The long stories she told in between songs had us all in the palm of her hand. She engaged with the audeience and had us hanging on every word. I left in a cloud of euphoria having experienced a true artist. Go see her!!

I grew up with Jewel. Not in person, but her music. She is a few years older and I always identified with her. When I heard that she was playing in Northridge, I got excited because it is a small, intimate setting. The only drawback was it was a work night and starting at 8pm. I am up at 6am and falling asleep by 9 usually. I have to say that when I realized that her starting act began at 8 and she wasn't going on until 9, I almost left. Thank heavens I did not! She came on at 9 and I was fading fast. Her opening act was not great so that worsened things. However, she is mesmerizing. I never saw her in concert. She is wayyyy better live. Her honesty. Her stage presence. Her voice! Holy moly. Like an angel. I forgot that I was tired. I forgot what time it was. I was mesmerized. Her story as well as her life lessons somehow continued to parallel mine. I have to applaud her because it is brave to be so honest. People are mean. I was enamored with her courage and her ability to put these lessons in songs. She played for a full two hours and it flew by. Even though I got home at midnight and slept six hours, I was on a high the next day. It was that good. A must see. Thank you Jewel. You continue to inspire me.

Jewel was, well, fantastic! She is a number of things rolled into one, an interesting person, a storyteller with many stories to tell, and a terrific guitarist with a voice to match. With seats in the fifth row, we were able to see it all, and catch a full measure of her talent and emotion during this show. Her songs, always interesting in their musical composition and lyrics, were quite varied, including some of her classics and things that she is still working on. For her encore, she performed a series of yodeling numbers that were nothing short of amazing. The Uptown Theater was a perfect venue for this performance, combining excellent acoustics with a very comfortable ambience. We would do this again in a heartbeat!

Great venue - GREAT Artist. Jewel has the voice of an angel, is genuine and delightful. A true Songwriter/Singer she shares her past, where she came up with the lyrics on certain songs, and story tells with honestly. I cried during her first song and every retelling to my friends. I was moved by her presence yes, but her voice in person was much more than I ever expected.
