Ms. Peters looked lovely, and sounded lovely as well. Good show of mostly familiar songs (most from Broadway), nicely choreographed. Not quite the vocal blaster of yore, but definitely worth seeing in person to enjoy her talents.

Bernadette must have found the fountain of youth... she is still an amazing beauty with flawless skin (as seen from my front row seat). Her voice was strong as she belted out some show tunes, and sweet and soft as she sang her new lullaby. All in all, it was a great show, although a bit short.

Bernadette Peters holds attention on a stage so well. When she sang "Fever" she was atop the piano, almost lying down. She shared a few Sondheim songs with us as well as "When You Wish Upon a Star" and several Broadway show tunes. She even told us that she had relatives in San Bernardino. She looks fabulous, certainly few 63 year olds look that good. And her slinky, sparkly gown set off her great figure. How nice that she wrote a book and provided all proceeds to animal shelters. What a class act!

If you have a chance to see this show, RUN and SEE IT!!!! Bernadette Peters is a master entertainer. She completely embodies every song she sings and the audience is spellbound. Her range, control and delivery are beyond compare. She looks gorgeous and chatted easily with the crowd. She got a standing ovation that was richly deserved!

Bernadette's voice and song choices inspire me. I've long followed her career and consider her to be one of the top singers ever. This concert, however, did not fully demonstrate her performance expertise. Perhaps she was under the weather? I don't know. Since my seat was in the front row, a bit to the side, I did notice her take a pill during the performance. Her voice did waver on several notes. Certainly, she had wonderful moments. My group raved about Fever, My Funny Valentine, and Not a Day Goes By. Personally, I was thrilled when she came down into the audience during her last number and passed one foot in front of me. She's a grand star, and true fans love her unconditionally.

Bernadette Peters gives her all and this show should not be missed. It was a wonderful evening, the fact that it was a Valentine's celebration was the icing on the cake. Thank you Bernadette!

Bernadette was wonderful, however, the staff at the California should have thrown out this one mad queen who continually shouted out obscenities at her and totally wrecked the show for all of those around him. Unfortunately he was seated in the 3rd row as were we. If I had it to do over again I would have suggested we all exchange info & sue him for the price of our tickets! The California also was charging $150.00 to "Meet and Greet" Bernadette. This is a whole new concept on greed! If you didn't buy the pass you were simply told to "Go away". Those that we did see that got to meet her it was so very brief. Time to take one snapshot then they were whisked off like day old trash. I felt sorry for Bernadette, and believe she had no knowledge that they were charging for this. Her true fans were left out, and I understand she adores them. However, it was not noticeable at this event.

I have been fortunate enough to see Bernadette Peters perform live on five previous occasions over the last 27 years -- twice at the Hollywood Bowl, and on Broadway in "Sunday in the Park with George," "Into the Woods" and "Gypsy." And I have to say, in complete honesty, she has never looked or sounded better than she did Sunday night at the California Theatre in San Bernardino. The woman is ageless and is at the peak of her vocal and acting powers. Having seen recent concerts by Natalie Cole and Gladys Knight, I appreciated something Miss Peters did that they did not: she acknowledged where she was ("Hello, San Bernardino!") and talked about how beautiful the theater was (it was my first visit there, and she's right). This adds a sense that you're seeing a show just made for you (although I know Miss Peters had been appearing in the Desert for the previous two nights and was on her way to Reno for a concert Monday.) I could complain that she didn't sing her now-legendary rendition of "Send in the Clowns," but I understand that, having just appeared in "A Little Night Music," she can't approach the song outside of the context of the show just yet. I could also complain that she didn't sing my favorite song in her repertoire, Jerry Herman's "Time Heals Everything." But how can I really complain, when Miss Peters gave us her hilarious take on "There is Nothing Like a Dame," and then tore our hearts out with "Not a Day Goes By," and then closed with that most perfect of all songs, "My Funny Valentine"? Her voice remains an amazing force of nature, her soprano still clear as a bell, her basso-profundo still deep and hysterical, her belt voice still strong and powerful. It was a thrilling evening, over too soon.

Finally got to see Bernadette Live and it was worth the wait. She seemed a bit subdued during the hour and a half when she spoke to the audience, but every song was full of emotion. her banter with the audience lacked her usual bubbly talk. her song selections were fan favorites, and the new additions were warmly welcomed. The "Fever" number was a treat for Peggy Lee fans.

I am so glad we went to the concert. Her song choice was great. She sang several songs usually performed by men, but carried it off. My only regret? The concert was too short. My only regret number two. She didn't sing "Send in the Clowns".

Although Bernadette Peters has a remarkable voice, is absolutely beautiful and has a wonderful stage presence, a one hour show for $81 per seat was a true disappointment. If we had known she would only be performing for one hour, we would not have bought tickets for the performance at all. It would also have been more fun if she had sung more show and/ or recognizable tunes and at least a few more lively songs.

I've seen this woman numerous times and every time is just like the first. Such presence. I could drag on and on about it, but Bernadette Peters is a performer you know or you don't. If you know her, you don't need more information. If you don't know her, no review I can write will do her justice.

I would make a pact with the devil to look and act like Bernadette Peters!!! Couldn't take my binoculars off her!!! Although 40/50 mentally/emotionally--and a very happy, fulfilled woman--I am stuck in a 69 year old body which I do not enjoy looking at. So I'll look at Bernadette instead--lol! Any woman who wouldn't die to be that beautiful is either beautiful, not old enough to appreciate the benefits of a youthful, healthy, beautiful body, is senile, in denial, a liar or insane -- or all. What a beauty and voice considering her age-- and that hair!! To die for!!! Don't take the above literally or too seriously--I'm just pretty irreverent. Seriously, she is a great performer and I loved every minute! On the critical side, I thought the orchestra overwhelmed her voice at times. Although she probably doesn't have the voice volume she had 10 years ago I thought there were parts where the orchestra was just too loud. I am not knowledgeable enough to know who is responsible but think it should be the realm of her music director. I know he is quite famous and accomplished but we are members of the New West Symphony and they are very good. I have only seen them conducted by Boris Brott. They are much better with Brott. Enjoyed "let me entertain you" most. Love when she belts out those sexy, boisterous songs accompanied with her oh-so-sensuous moves. My favorite style for her. Would have loved to hear "Santa Baby" and "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend". What an album with her doing songs done by Angela Lansbury, Carol Channing, Rosie Clooney, Ethel Merman, Louis Armstrong, etc., etc. Would also love a duet album with Streisand, Dionne, Bocelli, Iglesias, Chayanne, David Hudson, Domingo, Donna Summer, Gibb (BGs), etc., etc. Seriously, watching and listening to Peters was a rare privilege -- how fortunate I am to be able to do these things!!!!!! Actually I'm listening to "I can do anything better than you" right now :)

I am a big Bernadette Peters fan. I think this is the forth live concert I have been to over the last 20 years. She is beautiful, full of energy, a great performer and has a connection with the audience that is world class. But I can only give her four stars. In a certain range the voice is still powerful and full and wonderful but there are sections where she no longer has the control she has had before. If you are a fan, you forgive her any short comings because you feel so good about just being there and hearing her sing. But if you had never heard her before, I think you might be a little disappointed. 90% of the songs were right on. 10% were not at her best. The strings were also very hard to hear over the drums and brass but then it was still a wonderful evening.

We were disappointed in the performance. We love Bernadette and she sang her little heart out but......, Her choice of songs could have been more zesty. too many ballads. Also, if there were background singers, it could have make things a bit were lively. Way too short of a performancae for the money.

Enjoyed her range, Wonderful background sound, and subtle. Note! Her verision of FEVER brought the house down. And I'm a fan of Peggy Lee's. Disappointed that the show was over in 1#hrs. Perhaps a short, second entertainment.(My ticket was over 100.) A challenge for my budget. Also most of her selected songs were generally obscure.

To see Bernadette Peters is to see greatness. Her ability to sing so many wonderful and sometimes obscure songs is breath taking. All she needed was a piano, orchestra and herself,, that is where the magic began. She not only sings the song, she sells it. Bernadette doesn't take the easy road, her choices of music and the ability to sing them leave the audience wishing for more. Her expertise in singing Stephen Sondheim challenges her audience by saying," I can do that." A totally wonderful evening. One could not have asked for more. Except for Bernadette singing more songs. A total delight.

I am a big fan of Bernadette Peters, so she can do no wrong. It is amazing how she looks the same as she did many many years ago. Her voice is as beautiful as ever. Some songs showcase her singing abilities more than others. I would like to hear more of these songs. She carried off the show with grace and joy. It is amazing how many songs she was able to perform without any breaks. She was also able to inject a lot of humor, particularly the inuendos about selling her house.

My only complaint is that the evening went by so quickly. I would have liked if she sang for two hours instead of an hour and a half. I really enjoyed the program. Concert Hall was beautiful and in excellent condition. I liked it that Ms. Peters introduced her drummer. He was from the original cast of the Mouseketeers, Cubby O'Brien.

Ms. Peters has a wonderful voice, but the performance was very slow and dreary. It had two major flaws: 1. The sound was very poor, and many of her words, both spoken and sung, were unintelligible 2. The song selection was dreadful. Most of the songs were from unrecognizable shows and very slow paced.

I got my ticket last minute which turned out to be a great seat. She looked marvelous as always. First song was a little bumpy. Her usual rasp was a little more obvious but she mentioned a bit of a cold. Despite this, she was perky and entertaining and sang beautifully. My Two favorite moments were when she sang Send In The Clowns and Come on A-My House which is not my favorite Rosie Clooney number but BP did a nice modern, kind of sexy version to a light drum beat. I may love that song afterall.

Ms. Peters, looking well and nowhere near her age, gave a terrific performance. The tunes were mostly Sondheim but also Rogers and Hart and some Disney show tunes. The entire performance was 1 hour 15 and truthfully, a few more tunes would have been in order.

For interpretation, vocal range, and stage presence, this performer ranks among a handful of songstresses in her genre worthy of acclaim. This show was intelligently arranged for its time slot, but generous nevertheless: a solid hour of elevated vocals backed by an accomplished combo. Yes, Ms. Peters sublimely "entertained us" as requested in her opener. Among my favorite moments were her now trademark "You Are Not Alone", both Follies selections, and the encore lullaby that pulled on my heartstrings as I also seek to protect animals in need. Only one quibble: why sing "Being Alive" up-tempo? I would prefer a more prayer-like interpretation: one that does not so much gallop along that you are distracted by the prospect that the orchestration is about to outpace the vocal.

Bernadette Peters is, first of all, ageless. She looks fantastic. But, forget about that. Her voice is better than ever, if that's possible. She sang bouncy, she sang moody, she sang sentimental, all with emotion. What a diva -- meant in the best sense of the word. Have seen her on Broadway several times, but this was even better. Hope to see her again asap.

Very nicely done show. Bernadette is entertaining and the venue is beautiful. She really engages the audience and takes you down memory lane if you've followed any of the old Broadway shows/musicals. Made me think many years back to my mom playing piano and my dad singing along w/ tunes from Fiddler on the Roof, 42nd Street, My Fair Lady, Rogers & Hammerstein pieces.....great memories. Bernadette's band was wonderful too. Bernadette can finish a song and hold a note doing a de crescendo like no one's business. Her voice control is amazing...not an easy thing to come by.

Interesting venue (restored theatre). This was a first time for us seeing Ms. Peters and she did not disappoint. It was nice to see her with a 11 piece band backing her. Song selection was a broad base of show tunes and standards, all of which showed off her vocal control and emotiveness. Our one worry in seeing this show was that she would be past her prime, but that was certainly not the case. From the first song, she showed that she continues to be the pre-eminant female broadway performer of our time. She has literally been doing this for over half a century and it was a true pleasure to see her interpretations of classic songs. each song was a master class on interpretation and performance. experiencing her performing "Send in the Clowns" showed that that material is incredibly complex and nuanced, requiring a performer of her abilities to do it justice. Incredible show over all.

Bernadette Peters started right on time and captivated the audience from the first moment she stepped on stage. She sang, she talked and entertained non stop for more than 90 minuets. Starting off with Let Me Entertain You, that's what she did for the entire time she was on stage. Selections from Into The Woods, South Pacific, Follies, Company just to name a few. During several Sondheim ballads the audience was spellbound and at times absolutely silent as she performed. She finished to a standing ovation and the appreciation of everyone there. I have never had the opportunity to see a musical on Broadway so this was the next best thing to see Ms. Peters live on stage in Waukegan of all places. It was also my first time at the Genessee Theatre and I definitely want to come back! We happened to drive around to the stage door after the show where a crowd of 20 or so people had gathered in the hope of seeing her after the show and we were not disappointed. As she came out she took the time to sign autographs, talk, and pose for photographs for everyone there. She was very gracious and congenial. An outstanding performer and person.

Great performance, although she started out a bit weak with the first number. Could have been the very cold weather and its effects. She was very strong after that. For a performance like this, management needs to tell patrons not to sing along. This is not a rock concert where singing doesn't diminish the experience.

Bernadette Peters was great--her voice was amazing, she emotes feeling with every word and looked beautiful. Her eleven musicians were top notch as well and produced such a full, rich sound. My only complaint was that it was too short. I would have appreciated another 3 or 4 numbers, but she is 65 now so maybe one quits while ahead and leaves the audience wanting more.

This is the third time we have seen Bernadette Peters, and each time has been wonderful. This was no exception. She looks and sounds fantastic. She uses minimal "shtick" - just enough to keep the audience entertained, but not enough to make anyone look at their watch. Her delivery is profound and perfect. I loved her selections, most of which are from the Sondheim catalog, but some from Rodgers and Hammerstein as well. This is all we expected - about 90 minutes of a performer at the top of her game. Her accompanists are obviously old pros as well. It was a wonderful evening.

I have been a fan of Ms. Peters for many years and was very excited to see her live. Yes, she looked amazing and her voice sounds fantastic. Yes, she sang many numbers from her catalog that you would expect. However, I felt that it was very mechanical and the song selection was just a little blah. it would have been nice to see some different song choices- perhaps something from a modern musical that she has not been in or current radio pop or iconic songwriters like Dylan, Waits, etc. Ms. Peters has the talents to interpret such things in a new and unique way, it appeared she was more interested in using her comfortable tricks to manufacture emotion instead of really feel it and share it with her devoted following. In addition, there were times when the orchestra got in the way of some of the more tender moments. I would like to have seen her with just a piano and maybe a guitar.

Seeing Bernadette Peters live was fantastic. Knowing that she is 65 years old is inspiring to me (who is 60) that she could sing and move and look the way she does. Her voice is still wonderful, though I did notice that some echo and reverb were added to certain notes that she may have asked for some help on! But that didn't matter. She's a true showman and had a nice mixture of connecting with the audience as well as strutting her stuff! And she loves applause and is so sexy in her presentations. Loved her. First time at that venue for me and I enjoyed it very much. The acoustics were great. The band was fantastic though I was disappointed to see only male musicians. Not one woman musician! Shame on her for that! But maybe she wanted to be the only female up there. Who knows!

I am 16 years old, probably the youngest person at the event and I was just enamored! The songs she chose to sang she performed beautifully and the showmanship was just wonderful! She is a huge inspiration to me and she lived up to every expectation I held! I really hope a get the opportunity to see her perform again!

Bernadette was in top vocal form and she sang and moved with energy and great feeling. She still looks terrific. There was an excellent variety of songs - ballads, uptempo, etc. She was backed by a 10 piece orchestra which included a french horn, two guys on saxes /clarinet/flute/ oboe, drums, piano, double bass, cello, viola, and two violins.

Pulling from her repitoire of Tony winning Broadway musicals, Sondheim shows, and standards, as well as her original song from her book benefitting animal shelter, Bernadette Peters captured the full range of emotions in her recent show at the Valley Performing Arts Center. She incorporated humor, personal stories, and a moving Disney tribute. Ms. Petersb was an evening not to be missed!

This was our first visit to VPAC and quite impressed. The venue was large enough but yet made you feel up close and personal to the performers. Bernadette was warm and gracious although I thought she cut the show a little short....excellent as always.

The concert was amazing. Bernadette is a Broadway legend. No one sings Stephen Sondheim like Bernadette. My only complaint is that it went by too fast.

Bernadette Peters is extraordinary and unique. Her voice matches her beauty and talent and she is one of those consummate Broadway & theatrical performers for which no one can replace. Even trying to imitate her skill at enunciation and rounding out her words through the microphone, can't capture the deep emotional connection she evokes with her audience. She is a wonderful vocalist who can belt out a Broadway tune, and yet quietly, slowly, effectively melt your heart . She likes to make songs her own and rearranges some of the songs even she made popular. She likes a lot of Sondheim so be ready. You can tell she is one of my all time favorites, but, I implore you to try to get tickets to see her if you get a chance. I love Bernadette and am a big fan.

she IS one of the foremost stage performers. i saw her as mama rose in gypsy and i also saw patti lupone...and surprisingly enough to me, bernadette was far better! it was just a more well-rounded performance. having said this, this particular stage performance was just to moody. her songs all sounded the same after a while.

Bernadette Peters has such a unique, beautiful voice, and she showed it off to great advantage through her choice of songs. She injected some humor into her act, and connected very well with the audience.

This was the second time, in many years, that we got to see Bernadette Peters live in concert. What a performer! Her energy and personality were so delightful. She brings such depth and resonance to her singing, especially in her ballads. On more than one occasion, I was deeply moved.

I have always been a fan of Bernadette Peters. I was really looking forward to the show. It was a bit disappointing. It seemed that she had a cold or something because she kept sniffling and clearing her throat. Her voice was raspy at times, too. I got the feeling that she was just trying to get through the show. Tthere was no spontanaiety in her dance steps and no joy in her voice. Disappointing...but I won't hold this against her if she was sick.

I did not know what to expect, but she held my interest every moment. Her voice is beautiful, and her vocal range is impressive. she becomes the character before she sings a song. She had me crying with one song and my daughter crying through 4 songs! A consummate performer.

We attended Bernadette's concert at the Indiana University Auditorium on Saturday, 2/25/12. The show was done without intermission, and was less than two hours (not sure EXACTLY). There was one encore. Probably about 50% of the program was Sondheim songs, most of which my companion and I found depressing and somewhat boring (though she did sing them beautifully). The part of the concert that we enjoyed was the older songs, and songs from older musicals - usually in her own style (sometimes an improvement on the original, others times just interesting and "different"). I especially enjoyed "Some Enchanted Evening" and "Shenandoah." I would only recommend this concert to a friend if he or she is a fan of Stephen Sondheim. If the program is changed to cut down on the amount of Sondheim (or do more of his early works), I would be more likely to attend again and to recommend the concert to a friend.

We went to this hoping to see more of Bernadette's personality, including her comic side. There is no denying that she has an amazing voice, but the songs were depressing, for the most part. Way too many numbers from Steven Sondheim. I was ready to leave 4 songs into the show. If she sang pop/current music instead of show tunes, she could knock the socks off some of today's artists and many younger listeners.

Bernadette Peters is a jewel whom I last enjoyed in "A Little Night Music." Eagerly arriving early for "Follies," I was transported to memories of Vaudeville days with etherial background music, gaily chattering voices and tap-dancing while a post-war mood was created by a Marquis disguised in drab and well-worn fabric. I loved everything about "Follies": the story line, the interpretation (directing?), the cast, the music (SONDHEIM!), the set and those "Follies" costumes (Wow!). My take-away thought on the way home: 'This play is a salute to actors, and everyone involved in theatre. They are to be appreciated and honored for keeping this art alive through wars, depressions and recessions. Europe had Moliere, England has the Royal Shakespeare company, and The United States has American Theatre.' Well done and many thanks.

Another outstanding performance by Ms. Peters. Not very many changes from her show at Cerritos Performing Arts Center a couple of years ago, but still an amazing talent. A set list relying almost entirely on Broadway classics, plus a vampish rendition of "Fever". As with her previous Southern California appearance, Mr. Sondheim's works played heavily into the setlist. This is nothing but a good thing, and the audience certainly had no arguments with hearing some more obscure tunes from shows such as Follies. Ms. Peters ended the evening with an intimate version of "Kramer's Song", a lullaby she wrote to go with her children's book supporting animal rights. The only downside was the jerk sitting a few seats to the left of us that was trying to call attention to himself throughout the evening with catcalls, whoops, and other juvenile tactics. I guess it was just our turn to get stuck with the village idiot.
