i am a longtime fan of brett butlers but this time around she left a lot to be desired. as for craig this is was my 4th time seeing him live, the 1st being maybe 10 years ago. as always he was absolutely phenominal. he stays current and has a natural talent for being hilarious.his expressions his impersanations, his twist on life, he is just a natural born comedian, very very very funny

We did not know what to expect, having never seen him live, and we had only been to the Canyon Club one other time. All 5 of us enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and we laughed until our cheeks and stomachs hurt. We all agreed would do this again and again! As a matter of fact looking at future shows online now.

The show was really a tour de force from Craig. I had never seen him live before and therefore don't know if this show was unusual, but per the event description we were expecting about two hours total between Craig and his opening act (Jason Love, who was really funny in his own right). Instead, after Jason's twenty minute or so warm up set, Craig was on stage for about two hours and twenty minutes! The time really flew as he bounced from one topic to another, highlighted periodically (and perfectly) by lapsing into Chris Rock (in order to be able to say stuff Crackers can't) and heckling a 22 year old sitting up front for not being able to relate to cultural references from his childhood. From a value standpoint relative to other comedians I've paid to see, Craig just blew them away.

I've heard parts of Craig Shoemaker's act on Sirius Satelite Radio and had to see hime. He didn't disappoint me at all! I laghed so hard, I almost cried. He has great stories and a funny insight to life and gender roles. I'll definately see him agaiin. Only wished he would have done the bit on Mayberry being on drugs and Floyd the barber as dealer. My boyfriend would have enjoyed that insight as much as I did when I first heard it. Loved he show even without it.

I knew Craig's show was going to be funny. That is a understatement, it was HYSTERICAL!! He really is a talented comedian with great one liners, impersonations and gets the audience into the act. I don't think Craig has performed in San Diego before but I hope he will be sure to make it a permanent stop for his future tours. Anyone who enjoys great comedy will NOT be disappointed if you see his show. It was FANTASTIC!!!!! He also had Kevin Love open for him as a warm up act before Craig took the stage and he was pretty good. He started off slow but after a third of his act, he gained momentum and was really funny and make a great opener for Craig to start.

Hilarious as usual. Sat front row, but forgot about when he goes into the crowd asking (forcing) the men to make the machine gun noise they made as a kid while playing war. Was praying he wouldn't pick me; fortunately he picked the other guy sitting at our table... Word of caution for anyone seeing a show at the Balboa Theatre: there is some serious AC being pumped out from under the stage. If you sit in the front row (at the tables), make sure you like it cold or bring a jacket. BRRR!!!

When this show was announced, the only thing I knew about Craig Shoemaker was that he used to be on the Howard Stern show sometimes. Figured I'd roll the dice and buy a couple of tickets, since they were fairly cheap ($22.50 face value for the front row). I'm so glad I did. Not only is Craig absolutely hilarious - I literally had tears in my eyes - he also performed for more than two hours straight, with no break. This guy is worth every penny, and I absolutely recommend his show to anyone, especially those who have not seen him before.

This show was fantastic. It was funny from beginning to end. I never laughed so hard for so long. It was never dull. Great, great show. Making fun of the men up front with their machine gun impressions, the references of things for the 20yr old to look up because they were before her time, all so witty. There were so many funny, funny skits, thoroughly enjoyed the entire show. I took my parents to see this for my Father's birthday and we all had such a memorable time, one that we will never forget. Thank you Craig for a fantastic night out.

This was our first time seeing Craig. When we received the tickets (as a gift), I made the decision to not look him up or watch any of his on-line videos. I wanted all of his material to be fresh when we saw him. My husband & I were not disappointed! As frequent visitors of comedy clubs, Craig put on an excellent show & had us laughing from beginning to end. I would most definitely recommend others to attend a showing. I, personally, enjoyed his "reliving the past" most of all. It's amazing how many young people today don't even know about the simple things from the "not so distant past"! Of course, The Love Master, well.....that speaks for itself! Good material!

First time I've been to this venue, only problem was that a couple of times during the performance there were extraneous noises coming from the PA that distracted the performers. Craig put on a great show, a time-machine mix of familiar material with the new. Barney Fife and the Lovemaster, his best character, were well represented, and to explore comedy where "Whitey" couldn't go he channeled Chris Rock quite well for more outrageous vignettes. Craig finished up with his great audience participation schtik, Playing Army which is guaranteed to give you stitches as male audience members relive their childhood days at play mimicing machine guns, most often with poor results, especially while convulsing in helpless laughter. Craig was very personable after the show with autographs for his materials being sold in the lobby and to meet and greet fans, and handing out contact information for his facebook pages, website, and other modes of connection. We traveled 150 miles round-trip from New Hampshire and it was well worth it.

This was the most fun I've had on a night out in a long time! Start to finish, this is the most amazing comedy show. Craig takes the stage and immediately starts the side splitting (and I am still sore today). Whoa...Love Master! That, of course, is his most well known bit, but the entire lengthy show was a riot. This guy does not disappoint! We'll plan to catch him every time he's in town.

Craig Shoemaker was just terrific. He held the audience in the palm of his hand for about an hour and a half. I've been a fan of his for almost ten years and he has never been as good as he was at this performance. He's re-honed a lot of his signature material but has expanded his repetoir extensively. He is a terrific comedian. Brett Butler however, who opened for him was close to awful. She failed to win the audience over. Her material was all worn out and mildly amusing at best. She got a few laughs but it was embarassing to the audience how poorly she was doing.

We saw Craig Shoemaker and Brett Butler at the Newport Yachting Center, Newport, RI last night. What a GREAT show. Brett Butler opened and was on for about 30 Minutes. What a great way to start the show. Craig Shoemaker was on immediately following and was hysterically funny! At one point I was laughing so hard I had tears streaming down my face! As he said - we all need to laugh more - and he provided exactly that! Much fun and laughter! I would definately go to see either of them again and will keep my fingers crossed that he comes back to Newport next year!!!

It was the tirst time I had seen either comedian and I was very impressed with Craig. He had us all laughing from beginning to end. Brett, on the other hand, was a dissppointment. She was very confusing -- going off in three different directions at the same time. She wasn't very funny. I loved watching -- Grace Under Fire -- and thought she was the head-liner of the duo. I was mistaken and relieved.

We became familiar with Craig Shoemaker while living in SoCal several years ago. We saw him a few times and loved his routine (altho it was a bit repetitive). This show was hillarious! I can honestly say I had a side-aches from laughing so hard during Craig's almost TWO HOURs on stage. He throws in a little of the LoveMaster stuff for old times -- but the rest of his material is funnier, IMO. He is quick on his feet and does a small bit of interactive with the audience that was a real HOOT. If you want to relax and enjoy a couple fun hours - go to this show! I also liked Brett Butler a great deal - altho her portion was pretty short. She seemed a bit nervous - perhaps just returning to her act. GO TO THIS SHOW!

Forgot how funny Brett Butler can be; enjoyed her immensely. Craig Shoemake is a hoot! He had tears rolling down my face. It felt so good to simply laugh outloud a lot. He certainly is one of my most favorite commedians. First heard him on Sirius Radio; try to catch him whenever they play one of his routines. Wish they played him more. Thanks for a fun-filled evening.

Craig Shoemaker's show was unbelievable! I haven't laughed so hard in years!!! It was quite the break needed during this very trying economic time. Craig asked the audience if we needed to be anywhere because he ran late. After we all declined he kept the showing going and kept us laughing our butts off! GREAT show, highly recommended and can't wait for him to come back into town! I feel bad saying this but Brett Butler and the guy before her were just ok.

OK, so we went to the Wilbur theater and when we arrived we learned that they haven't secured a liquor license. A dry show, which was not disclosed at the time of purchase. I spent extra money for table seats figuring that I would be able to enjoy a few drinks with friends, not the case. The show started and the first comic was what I expected. He wasn't an A-list comic, but he knew it and was OK with it. He made me laught at times and that what was important. Brett took the stage and was an abosulte train wreck. I couldn't follow her routine at all. It was comparable to a drunken bable you would expect to hear at a family gathering. She droned on an on, at times changing topics in the midst of a rant and never coming back to the orginal rant....I was disappointed to say the least. Shoemaker took the stage and saved the night. He was great. I would gladly pay to see another one of his shows, as long as Brett isn't on the bill. I was told that the Wilbur will be getting a liquor license, so there is still hope !

This was an awesome final tour performance by a personal favorite for over two decades. As usual, Craig out did himself by performing for over two solid hours. He had a ton of new material which was mixed in with some old favorites like "The Lovemaster". We thoroughly enjoyed this performance and laughed so hard our faces hurt afterwards. Craig is truly a master of visual comedy combined with excellent timing and fantastic facial expressions. He will be missed in standup by these fans.

I have been looking for a comedy show that made me laugh until I cried. This is the sixth comedy show I've been to since November and it is the only one that gave me what I was looking for- that good cathartic soul cleansing laughter. Unfortunately it was announced by the emcee that Craig Shoemaker will stop performing stand-up at the end of this year so if you get the chance to see him I suggest you do!

Do yourself a favor and go see Craig. I haven't missed a chance to see him on stage since I discovered him at the Ice House in Pasadena in the early 90's. I've never seen a comedian who makes me laugh more. One guy at the table next to me last year actually fell out of his chair from laughing so hard. The Love Master is a staple and never gets old. His Mayberry character impersonations will have you peeing your pants (hopefully you're old enough to remember The Andy Griffith Show.) And what a nice guy! If you get a chance to talk to him after the show, do it. He loves his fans and always takes time to take a picture with you afterwards.

2 hours! Are you kidding? I have never been to a comedy show where the performance went 2 hours. This guy loves to make people laugh. The group that I went with was in 100% agreement that there was not a moment during the performance that the gut did not hurt. The material is current, just the right touch of raunch, audience participation without too much humiliation and age appropriate. Just as he said that we would do at home after the show, I imitated him all night long! Highly recommend that you see this guy. Great Show!!!!

I've seen Craig Shoemaker live before, and he exceeded that event, even. He had us laughing for two solid hours - that's quite a feat for any comedian. I'm not sure what happened, but he had no opener, and he even had to introduce himself. Yet, he was so comfortable with the whole thing, and it started out the evening for us in a humorous way. The Triple Door has excellent food, a nice wine list (and sommelier), and decent service. We truly had a blast!

We've gone to Craig's show every time he's been in Seattle. The Triple Door is a great venue for him. Craig kept going for two hours, keeping us all in stitches. I was concerned that I'd have heard a lot of his jokes and stories before, but he gave us almost all new material. He fed off the crowd and not only was he entertaining us, we were entertaining him! And, just like every time I've seen him, the audience gave him a standing ovation at the end. You won't find many shows that are as fun or as reasonably priced as Craig Shoemaker's-- our tickets were $20 each for excellent seats. Plus, the food at the Triple Door is outstanding. I hope Craig returns to this venue...and soon! Put on your calendar to see The Lovemaster the next time he's in town--you'll love his show!

I saw Craig Shoemaker years ago in Hermosa and loved him. He was incredibly funny and held the audience's attention for over 2 hours. I had no idea he had gone so long until he mentioned it - what a fun evening!
