Dir en Grey is an amazing band, there music is just so majestic and they perform very well. I really enjoyed this show I feel like the band members where more considerate to the crowd than most other bands I have seen. I liked how they all went around the stage so I got a good view of all the members at some point (except the drummer cuz you know he can't move). Also the crowd wasent too crazy and I'm a 5'2 110lb girl and I felt relatively fine in the crowd, I mean it wasn't anything I couldn't handle, so that was nice cuz I was able to enjoy the show. The venue was also pretty nice, but girls bathroom was really small so that was a downfall. Oh yeah n I also liked the fact that it was just Dir en Grey, there was no "surprise" opening bands that where not mentioned cuz it's kinda annoying when bands do that , like when you buy the tix it makes no mention of opening bands but once you show up there's a few performing. Also I thought it was cool that Dir en Grey had a greet and meet before the show, unfortunately I didn't arrive early enough to the venue to meet them but I still think that was really cool of them to let people go take pictures with them.

Faced with the realization that I would not be in the pit (due to my company's knee injury), in the thick of it, turning into a lion woman and roaring, I knew that this time was going to have a slightly different air to it… But I didn t dislike it~ In prior ‘reports , I talk about finding myself in different ‘areas or 'lands , but this way… I was everywhere. Able to take in the whole picture of them, and the ways that they fit against each other. Kyo, with his theatrics bordering on the manic, tempered on both sides by Die s warm charm and Toshiya s flirtatious energy… and he, in turn, tempered on his right by Kaoru s confident calm. And then Shinya, behind Kyo, full of wild physicality that is kept behind his drum kit, his firm energy carefully contained where Kyo s is explosive. As a relevant aside, I want to point out that being able to actually see them ALL perform meant that I could finally see SHINYA perform. In all of my previous shows, I ve been in Kyoland, Totsland, and Kaostarland, but have not yet made it into Diestarland, which from what I can tell would be the only place you could get any kind of view of Shinya. Drummers don t typically get much attention… but Shinya is one who certainly deserves it. So full of pounding aggression, but released only as far as his drums, and that s not any kind of negative thing. To the percussion-focused, he s a show all in himself. And in a way, his music feels like a reflection of the way he carries himself - Self-composed, contained, but that means there s something TO contain, in the first place. Which sounds horribly controversial; I don t mean it that way. XD I mean it in the way a gentle man keeps strong beats inside of himself; I mean it in the way he keeps his smiles a bit shy. (I mean it in the way that, when asked what his favorite Starbucks drink was, he pauses before saying it s cocoa… only to take to his social media and tagramble about whether Starbucks even has cocoa in the FIRST place… and it does, Shinya. It does. XD) But from that balcony, I could see all the pieces of them, all at once, instead of only seeing a few of them. Like seeing art, I could view the picture in full. I m not going to say this is something that couldn t be achieved somewhere in the pit, but. For me, at least, it s the difference between seeing something in wide view, and seeing something in clear and crisp detail. I have my preferences, but I can appreciate that my spot at the balcony gave me something my prior experiences did not. That instead of only seeing Kaoru or Toshiya raise their hands, I could see all of them do it, reaching up while I reached down and screamed and howled. And about screaming and howling… when we first went up to that balcony, I had the feeling that I would be doing a lot of sitting beside my poor Honey. And it started that way… until they came out on onstage, one by one, playing and Zero (which to date is my very favorite instrumental intro of theirs oh JEEBUSSSSS). It was instinct to stand, and at least I wasn t the only one to do so… though I think that in my general little area of the balcony, I was the only one who stayed standing for the entire show. I couldn t help it. It s in my blood to stay standing for who I ve come to see. It s in my nature to sing along, and to scream out in long howls, to throw up my hands and to headbang in a way that rolls all the way to my boots. It s who I am, and I can t and won t apologize for that. Even if it means I stick out sorely amongst those in my immediate vicinity. About sticking out sorely - somewhere in the middle of C , singing out Dead freedom! it struck me that I was still partaking in the catharsis. I was still stripped to the soul. It was just different, because now I had air all around me instead of flesh. The mutual, general aggression of the pit wasn t stripping me down, I was stripping myself down. In some ways, that actually felt kind of lonely…? But in others, I think that it was powerful in a new way. After all, it takes a certain caliber to allow yourself this kind of release when you feel like you are the only one in your corner doing so. It takes a certain bravery. The night ended rather quickly, and I keep wondering if that s some kind of effect from not being in the pit, this time. Fast forward to now, and apart from some general lethargy, I feel completely normal. I m not scraped up or bruised… it s habit for me to wear those kinds of concert wounds with a twisted kind of pride, but on the other hand, I still remember how my leg got so badly bruised at the Age Quod Agis show that I had to literally HOBBLE around for like 2 days afterward. All things considered… I have an appreciation for what there is to be gained from hanging back, now. But at the same time… I know where I prefer to be, and I hope that whenever their next tour happens, I ll be back in that pit, sweating and screaming and enduring and being so very, very alive, smashed against others who are doing the same. I also hope that next time, I finally get to hear them perform Kodou live. This makes FOUR shows and I still haven t heard them perform my favorite song live!!! It s KILLING me! XD

This was my first Dir en Grey concert and fourth concert overal, it has been the best event I've been to yet. You'd be so close to the band, their performance was phenomenal, unforgettable and has definitely topped off my year, nothing can compare. I've only heard this band for a whole year and their arguably one of the best rock bands, and rock entertainers today. THANK U DIR EN GREY!!!!

As usual, Dir en Grey came out and thrilled their fan's pants off [my almost came off, literally, from running around in the mosh pit. I think I'll wear a belt next time.] Their energy was massive, and that only fueled the crazy fans more. I'm walking away with battle scars! And I couldn't be happier. I've been following this band for almost 10 years now, and each concert I've been too of theirs has been amazing. I can't wait to go to their next one ~ <3

I went in thinking that they would never come on stage but once they did they were explosive. Kyo never paused for a single second the band did not hesitate either. They made you feel as if you were with them and not a spectator, you actually felt as if you were part of the band. They had there meet and greet after the show which was good but only two members were there, I heard someone say that on Sunday Kyo with all the members will be there at the meet and greet after the show so you should buy a CD/DVD during the show to get access to see them. This was only Friday and I still need to attend Sunday

When I see Dir en grey, I always expect a great show, and this was no exception. It was only my second time seeing my most precious J-rock band and it was no less great then the first time I saw them a year ago. I went with my friend Rose and she's not as big of a fan as me, but she still said it was great. I was standing at the right of the stage in front of the right speaker with a clear view of all the members, with Die right in front of me. The only thing that was annoying were these two Chinese and Japanese Die fangirls who seemed liked the weren't even there for the band, just to see Die in his undershirt. They kept rambling in my ear in Chinese while I was trying to listen Kyo do Agitated Screams of Maggots -unplugged- and kept hitting and touching me [somewhat-inappropriately/rudely] like I was just a wall. The meet and greet afterwords only had Shinya and Kaoru, but you could only get one Autograph, so I choose Kaoru and he signed my DVD and shoke my hand. All in all, it was a great night of seeing five of the gods of J-rock rock out for two purely awesome hours.

This was my first concert experience, but I was struck to tears at how intimate it was. The venue was small, but that made it all even better. I can't handle a mosh pit, but even in the back I could hear Kyo without a mic, and Kaoru and Toshiya made eye contact and waved. I loved how the members made every effort to draw you in while rocking out to their own epic-ness; this is euphoria. Honestly, you should like their music, or at least be around the ballpark to really enjoy and appreciate them. And be open about the language barrier, though the music'll suck you in anyway :)

The whole band looks /amazing/ in person--photos don't do them justice, and they're incredibly fun and charismatic on stage. Much jumping and slinking forward onto the stage to entice the fans--the barriers keep them barely a foot out of the audience's grasp. I stood right in front of Kaoru, and I loved that he was always smiling (Toshiya too, when he came over)~ They played some older songs, though didn't quite go back to my favorites (but when they played Drain Away, the crowd went WILD---not that they weren't already, but you get the idea). A few disappointing things: -They started 30 minutes late, but that's not a big deal -The mic for Kyo seemed to be set lower than the guitars, so he got drowned out a few times ;_; -Friday's signing onto had Shinya and Toshiya--not that I don't love them, but HoB only allowed one autograph (meaning, choose between them), and there was a bit of confusion in the beginning about wristbands and merchandise and yeah...but the merchandise issue wasn't a band issue. Over all, fun--not the BEST concert I've been to of theirs, but I'll be going back Sunday for another beating, and hopefully I can scrounge up the money ($50, ARGH) for a DVD.

From the first moment I heard Kyo's deep vocals bellowing out, I was entranced by the music. Another amazing show, which is to be expected from Dir en Grey. Also very pleased that they performed two new songs, as well as some older songs off their 4th album. Excited to see them again.

Well, I arrived an hour before the door opened and waited an hour. When they let us in I waited another hour. There was a delay and I had to wait for about another hour! >:( But, as soon as the show started, all my waiting had come to fruition and I enjoyed the whole show!!! It was worth standing for three hours and the acoustics, venue, and especially the band were awesome!!! If I could do it all over again, I would say yes!

The concert was great. The band had a lot of passion; Kyou's singing was spectacular. It was a small venue, so there was a clear view of the stage from everywhere. Small crowd, maybe 2-300. The crowd was really into it; there was even a mosh pit. Two things bothered me: the vox was a bit low, so it was hard to hear over the guitars, and the set list was rather short (only an hour and a half). Other than that, it was an amazing concert, better than most shows I've been to.

It was such an amazing performance, you can really see how their music bridges across language barriers. of course you did get morons pushing and showing disrespect for the band which really stops other Japanese bands from touring the US. Also alot of odd people, the "otaku" crowd. Other than some problems with the audience their performance was epic to say the least. I definitely love the quality and heart put into Japanese rock in general, Dir En Grey has definitely conquered the world. Its such a good memory to have.

Their show evolves continually along with their music. I love the encore, if people ask for it, they will play 3-5 more songs, making their show lat about 70 minutes. I recall the impression the band made on me the first time I had the opportunity to see them perform at The Coca-Cola Roxy Theater. It was when the vocalist Kyo pulled a Japanese Sword in mid-song, sliced his chest several times, took his own blood to his mouth and spat it on the air. Right then I became their fan, and they came to take a place in my heart next to The Doors.

Excellent show. Epic talent onstage, this is a band everyone should know. With some bands, what you get live doesn't even faintly resemble what you bought on CD; Dir En Grey is NOT one of those bands. These guys are amazing musicians. I would have gladly traded the hour the opening band (Dagoba) played for ten more minutes of DEG.

I'm extremely glad I got the email with them listed a month or so ago, I haven't seen Dir in years. Those gentleman are A-bloody-MAZING to watch live! I never look up unfamiliar opening acts for a show; I like to be surprised (at the very least). Dagoba was a "dark horse" for me, but they rocked it before Dir En Grey finished bringing the place down (figuratively, of course. sortta.) Definitely would see BOTH acts on their next New England tours! Not for people who don't like going nuts or the claustrophobic, but if this fits your bill, buy a d*^m ticket and get ready!

When the opening band came out, I figured they would be good and sound a little bit like Dir En Grey. I was poorly mistaken. The only thing I liked about Dagoba was the drummer. The lead singer could NOT sing and he kept saying, "New York" every five seconds. After a few songs I was excited that they finally leave the stage. Dir En Grey came out and I immediately threw myself into the middle of the floor and tried to get as close to the stage as possible. I'm not a big fan of mosh pits due to the fact that I saw Dir a few years ago and I got punched in the jaw by some guy. Overall, I love seeing Dir but I wish that they would pick better bands to open for them. Also, Dir en Grey needs to play in New York more often. I hope the VIP package is less costly the next time I see them too.

I expected nothing less from Dir en Grey. I saw them December 23rd 2011 and I have to say it was an amazing show. This was my second time seeing them and once again they didn't disappoint. Only this time I was able to get VIP tickets and got to meet them which was completely awesome! Each member had the deepest respect for each fan who had VIP passes. Even Kyo was present which is rare for him to be at, that made everyone excited. They played a lot of their old songs from Uroboros, The Marrow of a Bone, and Withering to Death. They also played some songs from their new album Dum Spiro Spero which blew me away! Each member went all out on stage to get everyone fired up giving energy to the audience and also to each other. As always Kyo's solo was amazing, the silence in the room totally set the mood for him which was perfect. To say the least if anyone is looking for a concert where they can have fun, get your ass kicked and headbang like there's no tomorrow; a Dir en Grey concert is what you need. Don't miss an opportunity to see these guys! It will be the most memorable concert you will ever experience! <3

I've been a big fan of them for years, and this is my 8th time seeing them, but this show was phenomenal. The crowd was a little weak though, but was still decent sized. They opened with Kyoukotsu no Nari, and played a healthy dose of songs from Dum Spiro Spero, including my favorites Yokusou ni Dreambox, and Different Sense, and some old ones such as Obscure and Kasumi. All of them were energetic. I was right against the barrier on rhythem guitarist Die's side, and he gives fans lots of love. Kyo's a cappella was amazing, I loved the dance he did.

The show itself was awesome, including the opening band "The Birthday Massacre." I had never heard them before, but Chibi did a great job of making me an instant fan! Now, when we moved on to Dir en Grey, OMG! Those boys really know how to put on a captivating and shocking performance! Sometimes I was so awestruck by them that I forgot to mosh. They literally left me stunned. The venue was pretty good, though I hate that they charged for water, which could be dangerous if someone became dehydrated and didn't have $2 for a bottle. No water fountain either. The audience too was a little too mellow and considerate for the degree of metal that this concert should have been. They were either un-used to high intensity concerts like this, or they were just as stupefied by the glory that is Kyo, Die, Shinya, Kaoru, and Toshiya as I was.

If you can see a Diru show... DO IT. These guys flew from Japan to entertain crowds in the US. They don't have to. They want to and their fans want them to. You will never hear operatic falsetto and gutteral screams from the deepest sense of anguish out of any other man. Diminutive only in size, his talent far exceeds any derogatory bullying he must have endured in his youth. Kyo is a vocalist without equal. Disregard the fact you may not understand Japanese, or understand the Japanese you hear being sung at the time. Instead, take in the technical prowess necessary to execute such songs. Also, the feeling you will have being around so many English-speaking fans singing their hearts out in Japanese is exhilirating. If for nothing else in the world, go to one of these shows and feel music and talent in a way you've never experienced. Broaden your aural palate with Dir en Grey and be the happier for it.

Traveled from Arizona to Denver just to see them, then you must know they're amazing as it gets. The guest band The Birthday Massacre was also great, They're also another band that i've listened to for few years. Too bad they didn't have that much fans in the crowd as from my point of view. But their Performance is great and cute as always, as Chibi continuously to keep her high spirits with the band. The Bluebird theater is a bit small, but then again it's just a small venue. But inside is clean and warm from the harsh weather outside that day. I would definably go back again!

While the band was amazing and gave a stellar performance as usual, sounding just as good live as they do on recording, i was VERY disappointed in the House of Blues. They were rude to both the band and patrons, cut off the merchandise line by giving over 500 people only 10 minutes to get band memorabilia. Also the guards were very rude and pompous. The House of Blues basically takes you for every penny you have--- VIP tickets are 100 dollars more. VIP or not, you have to pay $20 to wait inside out of the cold. And many other dissatisfactions. Though clean, safe and "ritzy" the House of Blues is expensive, impersonal and I DREAD going to see bands there. But I wouldn't have missed Dir en grey for the world. The sound was loud, clear and amazing. The performance was incredible. Music and vocals were breathtaking. My boyfriend saw them live for the first time this show and his words were "I will never forget that, it was intense! And they were the first metal band I have EVER heard that doesn't sound horrible live." And while I didn't get to meet the band of buy my merchandise [through fault of HOB not the band] it was a very enjoyable experience and I hope to see them again soon.

Dir en Grey is my all time favorite band, and to get to see them here in the US was amazing. Meeting them was even better! That was such a cool opportunity to have to meet my idols. Their performance was breath taking, but I did get angry at the disrespect that the fans of the other bands displayed, and wanted to push them into the mosh :) Seriously, the greatest show of my life. The music was amazing, the band was beautiful and being around all the fans who shared the love was great. I can't wait to see them again!

This concert is the best concert ever. I would recommend this to everyone, but sadly a lot of people do not like this type of music. As for everyone who does I definitely recommend going to a Dir En Grey concert and/or an Apocalyptica concert, it was the best day of my life!! I don't have words to even describe how EPIC this concert was!! Dir En Grey is my Favorite band of all time, It was truly AMAZING!!!!

That place was filled with ignorant, rude and violent kid that were there to see Dir En Gray which caused a lot of issues for those of us that were there to see Apocalyptica. I will HAPPILY go anywhere to see Apoclyptica again because the guys were awesome enough to come outside and visit with everyone while the guys from Dir En Gray completely dis their fans that were waiting outside for hours to see them, walking right by without acknowledging or even waving to their fans who were only a matter of feet away! The guys from Apocalyptica come over and hung out with us for about 45 mins signing, taking pics and even in my case, talking to a good friend of mine on the phone who couldn't make it to the show!

Dir en grey was amazing,I paid to see them, and thats exactly what i did. The venue was small,i was happy that no matter where i was,I could see them clearly. I figured they wouldnt expect a whole lot from atlanta,But you can tell how pumped we all were for them. The fact that when they went on stage we pretty much demanded more, and we got it. Saku <33 My friend and i were the only ones standing up in our section pretty muchmScreaming the lyrics along with him,and dancing our hearts out. I've been a Dir en grey fan for 6 years and this is my first time i've seen them live. As sad as it is,I felt like i was going to pass out because i was so over-whelmed. I've never loved a band this much. Not the members,The MUSIC. I yelled for Shinya when it got quiet, Sadly he didnt hear me. He is an amazing drummer. Toshiya looked so hyper, bouncing around. . And Kyo's voice was Flawless. Along with Die and Kaoru's playing. I will see them again,I love them. Driving to atlanta was worth it,Being lost for hours before and finally getting there was worth it,All the lack of sleep and skipping school was again..so worth it.

Diru rocked Rams Head harder than they did two years ago. Their setlist and show were epic and amazing. Opening with Red Soil was an excellent choice, it gave a heightened energy for the rest of the show. To top it off they played alot of songs from Uroboros and Marrow which was great because those are more of the metal songs. Not to mention they are the newer works. I only feel bad for not paying 100% attention to the show because I was trying to take pictures and videos. Despite that, Dir en Grey showed why their popularity is world wide and they number of fans are growing.

We got to the venue early because we had heard that the whole band would be at the meet and greet after the concert. We had our way in and made sure we had the ticket to get in then we waited for DIRU to come on stage. Once they got on stage it was nonstop song after song. I got to hear one of my favorite songs "Akuro no oka" and "Obscure". I had attended the concert on Friday but Sunday was without a doubt the best concert ever for me. After the show we went to the meet and greet and we were not disappointed.

Honestly I came mainly for my bf but I thought the show went really well. They were "late" about 1 and a half hour. concert was suppose to start at 8pm but started at around 9:30pm. Anyways, maybe it's normal for bands to start late. Even though I wasn't a big fan, the atmosphere itself was very fun! My legs started getting tired cause I wasn't jumping up and down in the front but standing near the back with a drink. The vocalist amazed me with his wide variation of sounds that he can make. A lot of jumping up and down with high energy on the band's part which transferred onto the crowd. As an observer, I noticed 90% of people were having fun. The age group in the crowd varied from 16-25 I believe, most people seemed like high school kids. (But maybe I'm wrong) A lot of people dressed up in punk outfits so if you're going to a dir en grey concert, you should consider dressing up too.

Dir En Grey's 2008 "The Rose Trims Again" USA/CANADA tour was a hit! I remember driving up to the venue, and seeing the line wrapping around several buildings! So many people dressed in Japanesque rock, and ready to celebrate good culture was the start to the best night of my life. Kyo's body language read that he was deeply moved by the songs. You could see his emotions spilling out of him as his god like voice seeped over the masses. Die and Kaoru displayed a set of thrilling songs as they both played melodically to the songs! Toshiya (displaying a new sexy haircut) smiled a lot and you could feel his enthusiasm through his sound. Shinya was amazing as well. He never fails to stay on key with the band. Oh and they all looked DAMN FINE. This Concert was the best night of my life. I will never miss a tour after this!!!

Center Stage was again a great venue for the type of crowd on hand and the nature of the bands. Food, drinks, and security were all in place and the staff was good quality. The show itself, was spectacular. The Birthday Massacre started things off with their poppy but heavy and mellow sound that really got you moving. With their fun and energic stage presence, they really warmed up the crowd. Dir en Grey took to the stage in a suprising way. After seeing them last year at the same venue, I wasn't sure what to expect because they seemed more timid than any of the live dvds I've seen of them playing in Japan. But they came out and got started and they were so comfortable, it felt like they were playing in one of the venues they've played a hundred times, with an audience they've seen a hundred times who devoured every action and sound. The interaction between the bands and the crowd was remarkable, even though Diru is a Japanese band that doesn't speak much English, with the way the crowd responded to the music and performance, you would never be able to tell. Definitely best show I've seen yet. Amazingly high energy performances!

Not my first DeG concert, and won't be my last, but I'm a little sad at how much of their setlist remains unchanged with each concert. In European tours earlier in 2011, they were playing "Ain't afraid to die," so I was really hopeful that they'd revive some older classics for the first time at US shows. Instead, the oldest song played in a classic form was Kodou, with Tsumi to Batsu, Obscure, and Rasetsu Koku played in their recent revamp styles. The selections from Dum Spiro Spero were all fun to watch live, but the distinction between songs would have been better with a bit of varying tempo'd tracks placed amidst them. The band has evolved so much over the years that it would be great to see their concerts reflect this rather than keep a relatively consistent sound/style to their show. When it comes to sound, Center Stage continues to be a hit-or-miss venue. At DeG's previous performance, the guitars were barely audible over the drums at times and the vocals were little lower than you'd expect. This year, everything sounded much better and more evenly balanced. All in all, it was still a great concert. I look forward to their next stop in Atlanta. I just hope the opening band is better next time.

Dir en Grey... what can I say that people haven't already said? Every time I see them, I'm left wishing that the concert could just go on longer and longer. I loved it. The crowd was VERY enthusiastic and that's just the way it should be. If you can get on the barricade for one of their shows, DO IT! You won't regret it. It's the best place to be. Most of the songs were from the new album which, though wonderful to listen to as a cd, However, they do not make for a good j-rock concert. Too slow and relaxed. My friend likened it to listening to whale songs. I won't lie, we were being lulled to sleep. Houston fans? Not very energetic, which didn't help. (I'm excluding the drunk idiots found at all of these concerts) It's been a few years since my last Houston Diru concert, and I just kept comparing it to my L.A. experiences. That said, the music was still superb, and I'll be buying dum spiro spero.

Don't get me wrong here, i love Dir En Grey but this performance was merely average. First off, I don't really mind waiting for an artist to come on stage because i understand they have to prepare pretty much everything, stage, instruments, etc; but waiting almost 3 and half hours for an artist to play a set-list of about an hour and 15 min when that is the only artist to play for the night is just plain irritating and disappointing. When there are quite a bit of fans cheering for an artist to play then later ranting in anger to hurry the hell up should tell you more than enough on how it was and i don't blame them. When they finally showed up on stage they thew a hell of a performance!......until the last half of the set-list, it started to bomb pretty hard kind of like they didn't wanna be there at all or wasted a lot of energy at the beginning. So it went from awesome to what the hell, not a good sign. Sucked that there wasn't any merchandise to purchase but I'm not going to hold that against them, I can live with or without it. Again Dir En Grey, Great band, just poor performance this night. I am not saying that anyone should not go to future shows based on what i say seeing as how this is only one night out of many, every artist has a bad show from time to time. I highly recommend seeing them at least once, it's very great music and future shows may be more entertaining.

SODO had TERRIBLE acoustics, Dir En Grey's performance was ruined by it, and Apocalyptica's performance was further ruined by their covers of beaten-to-death Metallica songs and their own "metal" songs. Everything sounded like static, even with earplugs, and the crowd was dead. Every time someone started moshing or even moving very much, everyone sat there and stared at you like you were some sort of drunked lunatic on the street. This sucked eggs. What a waste of money.
